I'm not totally sure if everybody there is actually fully aware of how incredible lucky he or she is to hear this incredible musician for 20 minutes, in such an intimate atmosphere. So awesome!
I would do A LOT for that - hopefully I'll get the chance to see him play solo (and with Thrice again as well!) in Europe one day. My all-time favourite singer! :)

Wait, so his whole set was twenty minutes?! That's it? I thought at least 40 minutes. Oh well.... I'm gonna see him next week here in San Diego, I'm pretty sure I'm still gonna enjoy it.
Such an awkwardly quiet crowd, where's the enthusiasm?

Personally, I love it.. To me It's out of respect, he is performing, do not interrupt the performance . I want to hear every variation in melody, or strumming.. I cant even count the amount of potentially amazing live videos that were ruined by the crowd either talking or trying to sing along.. and sometimes, from the band's perspective( unless prompted to sing along) it is actually more of a distraction than anything.. "It's cool you're singing along and all, but do you mind if I take the next verse.. in key and on time..?"
.. oh and clapping along out of time or during a bridge/break where the timing signature changes.. thank god for in ear's..

I completely understand what you're saying,i hate it when crowds are loud during performances. In this show the crowd just didn't seem to be there to applaud him after the song was over.
