    By pure luck, we flew into DC last year for my granddaughter's baptism, and it happened to be at peak bloom! With a young baby in tow, we didn't get out of the car when we took a drive around the tidal basin. But my tip is that there are other spots in the city that are beautiful this time of year. Just pushing our grandbaby in a stroller through the neighborhood where my son and his wife live, we saw a lot of beautiful trees in bloom.

    Thank you for mentioning East Potomac Park. I'm a driver and tell people that if you drive/bike/scooter through EPP when the blossoms are in full bloom and the petals are starting to fall, it looks like a tunnel of snow. Its the most beautiful site. The trees arch over the road and the road gets completely covered when they fall.

    I saw them today. It was very crowded. Also saw one of your tour guides down there. Thank you for the helpful videos.

    I was there from March 10-13, and I saw mostly buds, I used so many of your tips on my trip, using the DC Circulator and getting to the museums right when they open worked the best for me, thanks 🙏

    I want to thank you for your videos. I just returned from a quick last minute vacation out there today, and your videos helped tremendously! Unfortunately I wasn't able to book one of your tours on this trip, however, I plan on making this an annual trip from here on out, and look forward to taking a tour with you on my next visit. Again - thank you very much for your videos!

    Do you think this year there's any luck I'll still see blossums on April 7th?

    I hope I can get to see it soon. It looks beautiful. Rob, quick question: Can anyone access the Pentagon without a tour? is there some sort of "free access area"?. I will be there in a couple of months and I would like to know if it is worth it.

    • @TripHacksDC
      @TripHacksDC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. If you are not in the DOD you need to sign up for the tour. I don't personally think it's worth it unless you've exhausted all of the other sites in DC.

    What's the best way to carry your belongings when you're walking around DC? Backpack, fanny pack, other? Thanks for your helpful videos!😂

    • @TripHacksDC
      @TripHacksDC  ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally use a backpack but have seen lots of styles of bags. Just depends on personal preference.

    What about the DC Circulator? Also, the National Arboretum has cherry trees; we are planning some time there to break up the museum days. There is a really nice pdf guide by the USDA on the cherry trees in the Arboretum.

    • @TripHacksDC
      @TripHacksDC  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Unfortunately Circulator bus gets stuck in traffic and on the busiest bloom days can be slower than walking.

    Also good to note - the cherry blossoms are white, not pink (for the most part). Still pretty, but if you're expecting a sea of pink flowers, you might be disappointed. I'm heading down next week to see what's in bloom. Hoping for some luck!

    April 18, 1958: The Japanese Pagoda, hewn out of rough stone, was placed on the southwest bank of the Tidal Basin and dedicated.
    It was presented as a gift to the City of Washington DC by the Mayor of Yokohama to "symbolize the spirit of friendship between the United States of America manifested in the Treaty of Peace, Amity and Commerce signed at Yokohama on March 31, 1854..."
    The Japanese Pagoda was shipped to the United States in five crates and arrived as a puzzle! It was assembled by specialists from the Smithsonian Institution.
