      @@saradietschy I use the MacBook Air from 2018. I like the looks of the MacBook Air with its low profile keys and if you weren't careful with the things you place around the MacBook, you will damage the keys super easily. And while they could easily engineer a butterfly key switch that's better in the context of reliability (no, I'm not talking about the silicon around the mechanism), they decided that they would ditch the low profile keys. I can type on either mechanisms without problems.

    For students: I’m perfectly happy in Windowsland - and I have an iPhone and an iPad mini (because perfect size for reading books - and it turns out, for reading university ‘reading’ material - with the addition of a ‘pencil’ for highlighting and making notes to PDF’s) - in bed or on a comfy recliner chair. I save everything from my iPad/iPhone to windows apps, if I’m working on material synced to my windows laptop (OneDrive, and OneNote) for Uni projects, including if I’m video editing for my digital communications elective courses, for my degree. Video and audio recorded on my iPhone, get initially ‘filter-edited’ while still on my phone, then ‘shared’ to OneDrive app, which is synced to my windows laptop for video editing. I thank Sarah’s video’s hero-ing OneNote for my comfort with Windows, it’s been working out great.

    Been a Windows user for 17 years. Recently having more issues than ever with Windows 10. Reinstalling it didn't seem to fix much. It's so laggy after a few months, icons in my taskbar sometimes disappear, Windows Search never finds what I need despite those apps literally being correctly installed, etc etc. Don't even get me started on how horrible the updates are. Paused it to not get updates and it still got updates.
    I'm going to switch to Mac soon. Previously I've been an Android user for 7 years but had a good deal on an iPhone 7 and never regretted the switch. I'm a Windows and Mac user together. I feel we don't talk enough about longevity.
    In my eyes you can't beat that out of the box continuity that the Apple workflow gives me - pick up email drafts from one device to the other, airdrop straight out the box, copy on my ipad and paste it onto my mac, answer a call on my Mac whilst working instead of picking up the phone, respond to a message on any of my Apple devices seamlessy and knowing that they'll all be up to date.
    In my experience I build a Windows machine, I put an NVIDEA graphics card in it, Processor from Intel, motherboard from Asus, Memory from Kingston, Harddrive from Samsung, plug a logitech keyboard on, microsoft mouse, running on an LG monitor - each of these things have their own drivers, each of these things are made by different manufacturers, each of them tested with different specs from my machine - in my eyes yes you may end up with a beast of performance and hell yeah that thing can be super fast - but at the same time I've had many builds where I've spent hours fiddling with drivers, instability with two components, and this has always been my issue with buying and owning windows machines - the muti-manufacturer architecture.
    In front of me right now on my desk I have a 2013 Macbook Pro 7 years old - I also have a Windows Laptop Dell XPS 2013 - I guarantee you now if I started them both and tried to use them the Macbook would work faster and be more stable due to its one manufacturer architecture.
    I can't wait for Apple to do a Macbook Pro using its own Apple Sillicon - I think we'll see the next level of machines coming forward then.

    • @superharryboy
      @superharryboy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well you are comparing a "build your own pc" with an "already built, installed and ready to use" computer. Of course you'll stumble into problems when you try to build it yourself. The taking a call from the computer is available on Windows through the "your phone" app. You can also see your phone on your screen and control it but right now it only works with some phones. They said support will be scaling to more phones in next releases. The workflow continuity is on windows too, all of that you mention and the having a shared clipboard among windows devices and for android phones there are apps that do that, so yeah it is not that seamless between windows and mobile (android) because they are not windows devices.

      I hate to be that guy but out of the many PCs I've built, I have never had any driver issues. If you're using Windows 10 almost all of the drivers are automatically downloaded and installed in the Windows install process. Nvidia is an alright example of having to manually download your drivers, however, I have never had an issue with installing them. You certainly don't have to install drivers for the LG monitor for it to just work. Whatever you would install for that would be for extra features and would also have to be manually installed on a Mac machine.

      Although I am also in favour of a clean desktop, there is something to be said for a desktop with links to your often used folders/documents when it's a work laptop. Because once your machine has booted and the desktop has loaded, you can just start typing and hit enter and it will open whatever link/document it jumped to based on whatever you typed. I've seen people use that very effectively.

    • @T3GMedia

      NVIDIA NVIDIA NVIDIA. :) if it’s a desktop I will allow you an AMD processor for all of those sweet sweet cores on the cheap but nvidia is murdering the game right now when it comes to graphics

    • @lordswaggity1213
      @lordswaggity1213 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tohur Gaming isn't the same as other applications. Nvidia stuff is used better for creative workflows, on the software level. That's basically what my question was about. I think Sarah's right, Nvidia is better for all that.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tohur I've been reading those rumors of AMD finally catching up for easily over a decade and they always come short and if they some day they finally become true the support will not be there overnight, so if you need something reliable, tested and _now_ then go Nvidia.

    • @MsSgent
      @MsSgent 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tohur That's true for gaming. AMD still doesn't have a widely used toolchain for AI and compute; and hardware video encoding has always been subpar to NVENC. Adobe apps (among others) don't use AMD to accelerate performance on the PC. An AMD CPU with a Nvidia GPU is fine (and often preferred possibly).
