  • Well well well, Phil again bans another viewer who knows more about how his stream opperates...
    Surprise Surprise....
Thanks to ‪@KingjadVCMP‬ for hitting me up with this.

You obviously don't understand. Phil has done EXTENSIVE research on this. Lol.

Research? I believe you mean invented bitrate. Phil reminds me of Neil deGrasse Tyson over half the time he's just making up things where he clearly knows nothing on the subject.

Crazy how this dude has done this for 15 years and has not once even considered updating his settings or even checked after people shat on his stream quality, then again, he never even turns off his PCs or restart them or update his PCs...how are those PCs still running at this point, that dude shits on PCs and PC gaming, yet his PCs have been abused for years and still work.

We also know that his place is a mess, full of dust and dirt with very poor air circulation. He never cleans his office, he never upgrades his setup and he never maintains his equipment to ensure they're in good condition. I won't be surprised if one of these days one of his PCs or consoles keels over and we have to go through a round of begging sessions for new stuff.

@Prophet when you get a chance, you can set up a Virtual Box of DSP's setup (specks and Windows 8.1) on your PC, so you can show how DSP f*cks up, without changing your perfect setup, to show side by side. just a suggestion

    • @NervousNoodles
      @NervousNoodles 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Given the state of DSP's antiquated hardware, I'm sure Virtual Box will yawn and fall asleep running the setup.

@@Sunny晴れた His entire setup (from top to bottom) is so bad I don't even know where to begin. For a man whose job at the helicopter company was to find and fix inefficiencies in processes, he is the most inefficient streamer on the planet. It's worse when you realize how extremely poor and limited his knowledge about _anything_ is.

Considering he thinks he needs a business line just to his room for streaming and a separate normal line for the rest his house devices tells you enough already. Dude wastes so much money on two Internet lines. $100 bucks bets he doesn't know the difference between download and upload.

A couple of questions/things I'm curious about if you have a minute. 🙏
2:28 Why CQP? I've been using VBR for recording for a long time now, so long I don't remember why I landed on it honestly(I did look into it, just been a while.)
I also noticed you are using Two Passes and a Keyframe interval of 1s . I've had it at Single Pass and 0/auto Keyframe for both streaming and recording for ages now.
I recall a lot of mixed information when I first set things up and when changing things and my setup does work well and look good to me, I don't think there's any significant issues but I'd love to improve things if you have any tips. 👍
About the 8500/13000 difference with those images, the 13000 does look more clear to me, it's not immediately noticeable for the whole image but if you look at the shoe laces for example. When zoomed in the clothing does appear more detailed to me too, the texture is more noticeable - Granted, it's very minor and I assume even then 13000 isn't required to get that. Before this video I had seen mention that 10800 Kpbs is the max for 1080p so I assume that would maybe be the same as 13000?
But yeah I know this is a DSP video but since you sound like you know what you are talking about, if you do have any tips/info I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask and I really would appreciate it. 🙏 For reference I have a 3090 and 14000 Kbps is the best I can do for uploads. CBR for stream, VBR for recording. NVIDIA NVENC H.264 for both. Keyframe 0/auto for both. Multipass mode = Single Pass for both.
    Cheers!

1.) The problem with VBR is the fact that you are relying on Bitrate rather then quality with CQP. Bitrate depending on the recording quality can be huge depending on what resolution you record at. The other big issue is the ramp up for VBR. Because its a variable it can go up or down, this will result in a loss of quality, it could take a few seconds to do so. I wouldn't record with VBR, CBR would be a better fit since you can set the Bitrate and lock it in so it doesn't adjust on the fly. Otherwise CQP and Lossless will offer a better quality but may be overkill. Just watch file sizes and ensure you have drive space available, at 4K 1 minute I'll end up with 1GB file.
2.) Using Single pass is just fine, but doing a double pass results in a smoother image. Especially in fast motion gameplay. If you set it to double pass the encoder decides wether a second pass is needed. This results in higher GPU usage but a more smoother image overall. It comes down to GPU performance though. But even on a 1070 its fine.
3.) Keyframe Interval is important, if you leave it at 0s its not 0s its actually 8s. Setting 1s for action based gameplay liked fighters, FPS, side scrollers, racing etc etc gives a much smoother running image. 2s is great for Podcasts, when you are just sitting back reacting of dumping on Phil.
For streaming with CBR depending on who you are streaming too they have limits. Sure you can set 13000Kbps for TH-cam but realistically anything over 6000Kbps won't result in any improvement to the image, plus the fact that Phil relies on TH-cam to upscale the image as well which is stupid since it adds massive delay.

      @@ProphetTech Cheers man!
      1) Right yeah that does make sense when you put it like that. Ever since I built this PC I've been able to get away with recording at a very high bitrate so I haven't really had any issues but that doesn't mean it's the best option. I'll try out CQP and Lossless. I play 2D rpg maker horror quite a bit so I imagine for things like that there'd be no reason not to go Lossless.
      2) Yeah nice, I'll start using that for local recording for sure.
      3) Ahah good examples. I've made some adjustments there and some notes. It looks like TH-cam recommends 2s but I don't know how much it matters. Maybe 2s is better for stream and 1s for local recording? Any reason to not use 1s all the time, even with podcasts? Like any issues or just wasting resources type of thing?
My take away learning a bit more recently has really been that I should adjust recording/stream settings slightly per game. ^Which the above also adds to.
I've recently changed over to 1440p streams but have been hitting some encoding overload issues when trying to also record locally in 1440p. 1080p stream and 1440p local had been all good. Hopefully I can find a balance if I use CQP for local.
Yeah I can see a difference but if you have to really look it probably won't mean anything to 99% of people watching, not to mention 13000 still wouldn't be needed and he has a whole other set of problems. 😅
Really appreciate your time on this! 🙏
