I feel Argyle’s gonna have a big role in the series (not to say that he’s secretly alive or anything). Like, maybe there’ll be an overarching story about what he’s been researching and we’ll see him through flashbacks
@@dragonninja3655 that would explain why everyone THOUGHT he had passed away but, they also never gave a reason why he passed away so it could be possible he didn’t!
But then, why is his glasses still at the lighthouse? Remember, we first see Sunny as an adult before she sings Gonna Be My Day, we see his glasses in a case.
It's still sad that he didn't lived to see his whole life's career of research and never saw everypony united. I think he does have faith on Sunny bringing all Pony kinds together.
Considering there was a device in the lighthouse designed to hold the crystals of the three races and he had the earth pony crystal, there's a good chance he actually found the crystal in the lighthouse and decided to make it his home as a result. From there, studying it quite likely made him vaguely aware of its purpose, but he never had the time or ability to search for the other crystals.
One thing I like about G5 over G4, varying pony anatomy. I'm not sure if Pipp is smaller because she's significantly younger, but Izzy without her horn is really tall; she's taller than Hitch and Zipp.
@@FallenCreature1997 I guess if the Mane 6 were animated in this style, there would be physical differences, only so much you can do in flash. Apple Jack would be like Hitch and Fluttershy would be thin but taller than Pipp.
Here is a theory....Maybe Argyle's family was the original holders of the Earth Pony crystal...that his family knew or remembered what was lost..to always hold on to that. Which would also explain all the G4 research and such of him trying to find the where the other two crystals went to, or where they was lost at. Perhaps even Queen Haven knew the importance of her crystals as well "She never takes off that crown." And later "This crown is heavier than you think."
Sunny only ever says "I wish you were here." No pony ever mentions that he is actually dead. What if he left to find Twilight, or restore magic himself, and never returned? I can see Argyle coming back in the series.
They went through the trouble of showing his glasses and necklace, and making the camera linger on them with a slow and sad background music, so they obviously want us to think he's dead. It would be weird to do that if they planned to reveal he was alive the whole time.
Since Argyle was a researcher, I think it is well in the realm of possibility that he left all the clues Sunny needed to find a way to reunite all ponykinds. He probably knew he had the earth pony gem and, by extend, he might have learned about the pegasi and unicorn gem as well. Granted, we don't know what is plan was, or even if he had one, but given his researches, the artefects in his house and the way he raised Sunny, it stand to reason that he knew what he was doing
I freaking loved Argyle! I mean yes he is the “supportive parent who dies offscreen” but I have a feeling G5 might be doing more with him in terms of Sunny’s story
I do believe Argyle was just an historian of some sort to begin with, He found out about how things used to be from historical texts, But no catalyst as to how things came to be. And since the whole paranoia thing is a constant thing in their lives, Argyle had to put in the extra effort on his own part teaching sunny as he was literally against the whole town when it came to the fight against paranoia. If I was in the same situation as Argyle I'd probably do the same rather than let my own flesh and blood believe something that is false.
It would be nice that he tried to teach Sunny about friendship rather than a destiny story arch. The whole movie is about being a friend because of who you are and not what you look like or where you are from. The implied idea that Sunny was born for this would contradict the theme that being a friend is something you choose to do and work on across your life.
Despite only appearing during the opening, Argyle did have a strong presence throughout the rest of the film because even after he died, I think, Sunny was still determined to make sure that all three pony kinds will be friends again.
Whether Argyle knew about Sunny's destiny or not, he would still be proud of her knowing that Sunny fulfilled Argyle's greatest dream but it's still sad that Argyle will never see what Sunny accomplished or meet her friends. However, i believe that while it was implied that Argyle is dead we actually don't know that for sure, i mean it's like you said in a previous vid Doc Argyle may have passed away or maybe he disappeared while searching for a discovery.
Imagine if in the series every now and again Sunny get flashbacks of her father as she talks to her friends about him and we see the research & stuff he was doing while Sunny was growing up revealing that he was trying to figure out what caused the pony races to separate (and the loss of magic, if he even knew that), Sunny reveals that he went off somewhere but he never came back and went missing... The towards the end of the series' season end Sunny is reunited with her father as they and her friends start to uncover the final pieces of the mystery... & perhaps who or what caused this to Equestria in the first place..?
@@Starwarsfanboy0928 possibly...If at last if my theory is correct and she's not yet a true Alicorn and her horn & Wings stay like they are and/or are just a (temporary) power-up until she actually becomes a true Alicorn for real with solid wings & horn it might be a bit harder for him to recognise her at first but not impossible, however I'm sure he would sense it's his daughter even then...
I'm thinking Argyle met a Pegasus on his exploration of old Equestria. This pegasus he met is Sunny's biological mother. That is why we don't see any pictures of her or even a drawing of her.
It’s almost as if Sunny was his faithful student. Like Twilight is Celestia’s faithful student, knowing that both of them will one day succeed in their destiny.
Something I think that could be a big adventure hook for the upcoming series, is what if they found a second research journal from Argyle, it could be discovered any now revealed hidden compartment of the lighthouse. They could even go as far as saying it might hold the secret to finding out “what happened to him.” It’s implied heavily that he’s dead. But seeing as how he was researching ancient Equestria, maybe even trying to figure out where did the magic go.
i wonder what sunny, izzy, pip, zipp, and hitch will find out from their ancestors about g4 groups of ponies like the mane 6 plus their very close young male dragon friend, spike, and what probably happened to g4 pony society is that the mane 6's feelings for spike broke up the group, since fluttershy was so happy to meet a talking male dragon, that she almost put twilight in the hospital, and twilight became confused over her feelings for spike as adopted mother/sister that she wanted to get spike to their new home in ponyville as fast as she could ,plus i felt twilight was jealous of spike developing a strong crush on rarity when he first saw her, plus applejack, and rarity seemed to be jealous of their sisters applebloom, and sweetie belle having feelings towards spike, plus even though rarity downplayed her feelings toward spike this seemed to make pinkie pie, applejack, and rainbow dash a little jealous of their other mare friends for having feelings toward spike, plus male dragon garble seemed to be jealous of the feelings the 5 mares, then later starlight glimmer had to spike,i not saying these female ponies wanted to make out with spike, but if spike is pining enough for unicorn mare rarity that he wear's a shirt with rarity in the middle, then i wonder how strong their group friendship was just beyond being very close friends, since discord as a male draconques got very jealous of mare tree hugger becoming close friends with mare fluttershy, this might be very interesting into g5 mlp from g4 mlp since hitch is the only male stallion, unless other stallions join the mane 5 group ,since hitch now has 4 very cute mares around him, what will other stallions think and feel, and will even though it seems sprout has gotten back into being a good stallion could his jealous still be around toward hitch since now hitch has a group of mares, beyond just being a lead police officer in a earth pony city of maretime bay in the new ponyland states of equestria, just more stuff to ponder as we wait for generation 5 season 1 to start next year
I'm still curious about the machine in the lighthouse. The movie makes it seem like it wasn't needed to restore the magic, but then, what was it built for? Who built it? Did Argyle know what it was? Why did he live in a lighthouse anyway? I am not convinced that the series will answer these questions, but I would love it if it did. Sunny, Hitch and Sprout are actually playing on top of the machine at the beginning of the movie. You can see the shapes of the 3 crystals for a couple of frames.
did the mane6,spike,and starlight glimmer go on a hoof trip after the g4 movie and come across places like argyle, and sunny's lighthouse, zipp's lab,and the tree before izzy's house in bridlewood forest, and put their magical essence's in these crystals then place them in these places so even after the mane 6 group passed on,these crystal when activated would give the next generation hope, since isn't it to be sunny's reformed element according to hasbro in g5,but where wlll hitch, izzy, zipp, and pip get their reformed elements,or will the crystals at the end of the g5 movie that enhanced to certain type of element do the same thing when the interact with hitch, izzy, zipp, and pip,and could dark energy like crystals be formed when they come into contact with ponies,or other animals who are feeling dark in their emotions, and maybe this is why izzy can sense their colors through their emotions, sorta like in the 1 episode in g4 where pinkie pie drank from the rainbow pool in cloudsdale and really experienced every color of the rainbow, when her fur changed color,i got the feeling that hasbro could of asked the creators of skittles to use g4 pinkamena diane pie mare as their spokespony, since she really did taste the rainbow, wonder what g5 ponies will feel about that when the read it,and would some g5 ponies try to be like g4 pinkie pie,and we though g4 twilight thought g4 pinkie pie was nuts, wonder if g5 sunny might have the same feeling in generation5 season1,if she allows other ponies to experiment like g4 pinkie pie did,and will some of this stuff be why g5 unicorns believe in crazy stuff cause they over read pinkie pie's group friendship journal.
It's always hard to tell when destiny is involved or not... I feel like even if he didn't believe in a destiny specifically, he knew that his daughter (and others of a younger generation, hence encouraging her to send out the lantern izzy would later find) would have a better chance at fixing the broken relationships between the races. I wonder how much he knew about the importance of the Earth Crystal given how literally no one else had any idea and it doesn't seem like any of the records or history the Mane 5 discovered gave any real hints at it either. I think he just believed that if he taught his daughter about friendship that she would have the ability to go out and spread that message of love and acceptance in a way he wasn't able to (maybe having something to do with their cutie marks, he's better at finding the information where as sunny excels in spreading the message within that information). If he did know I feel like that would lessen the values he instilled in her as it comes across less genuine and more "i'm teaching you this because you have a specific role to play". I honestly believe Argyle just had such faith in the history of the Mane 6 that he knew he had to pass that on and not let it be erased again, and that that knowledge of the past would help make a bridge back to a united future for ponykind, which it ended up doing. Friendship is one of those things where you have to put a lot of work and a lot of faith into, and that message of just being kind no matter what would feel lessened or tainted if it was all tied up in a magical destiny because it takes away some of that faith needed when building a new friendship.
I like to believe that yes, Argyle knew. Some parent's just have a sixth sense when it comes to their child and their destinies. That's why he passed on his knowledge to her, as well as taught her that standing up for your beliefs is important. He also knew enough about how friendship worked in the past, and did his best to send Sunny down the same path that Twilight took (friendship, standing up for your beliefs, unity between all races, etc). I also want to really believe that when Sunny was giving up and the sun came out, revealing the third gem, that it was Argyle's spirit once again guiding her.
G4: Celestia = Mother role Twilight = Daughter role G5: Argyle = Actual father Sunny = Actual daughter Conclusion, Argyle was the future representation of Celestia and Sunny is the future representation of Twilight
I think Twilight saw were things were heading, future-proofed as best she could and left. She ensured that SOMEONE could assume Alicorn status to bring them together again, maybe temporarily. Maybe she planned to come back when the time was right, maybe she can't.
I notice the movie focused on the new tree of harmony( it was after the crystal was either taken, destroyed or lot to time. They showed the team moving across the screen while it remained focused on the tree.
Argyle might have foreshadowed Sunny's karma in prospect by uncovering some intrinsic elements and retrospective artifacts to have the 3 distinctive pony breeds rely on the new 5 prominent characters. And I'd love to see some sentimentality, embedded in a foreign object or something, either alternative ways, my genuine notion sounds a bit more plausible than it hypothetically seems.
It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Argyle and Sunny are descended from one of the alicorns, which could help explain why he was so invested in his research and kindness on top of everything said here.
I LOVE this idea. It makes sense. He has such extensive research on ancient Equestria. He may have come across some kind of prophecy or just gathered data that came to the conclusion that Sunny wasn’t just his daughter but somehow important to the rest of the world. He’s kind of both Princess Celestia and Starswirl the Bearded. He guides Sunny to her destiny, and his impact is felt beyond his life.
A head cannon that I have is that Argyle is a descendant from ancient times and his family has always lived in that lighthouse. His family was I trusted with preserving knowledge and relics from that time.
i believe that Argyle wished for Sunny to have a huge impact on the future, and that is why he put in so much work on teaching her to believe that "Friendship is Magic", though i'm not completely sure he 100% knew that was going to happen. i think he did that because he thought she deserves to know the truth, that the tribes had been united before and could be again. however, i would enjoy the idea that he had found some sort of prophecy about a "savior" during his studies.
I don't think Argyle could have predicted the impact his daughter would make, considering that nopony else wasn't open-minded enough to consider the possibility of friendship with the other pony races. At the very least he must have believed she would continue his work and keep his research alive and going. If he wanted her to unite the crystals, he would have left her written instructions. Surely the prophecy would have mentioned a humble unicorn (Izzy) and a humble Pegasus (Zipp), who share the same curiosity about the other races. Makes me wonder how Argyle became fascinated by the other races in the first place. I'm hoping he did research on Griffons, Dragons, Hippogriffs, Changelings and Yaks too.
It is possible that he knew. However another possibility is that in his research of history he learned what comes from distrust. And encouraged Sunny through stories to rebuild the friendship between the races. Given we only know what's on a few pages of Sunny's book. It's possible her dad left her more than anyone knows.
I get the feeling Argyle was passing along a belief he'd gained from at least one of his parents, along with the results of his own research. He knew that if the idea of friendship and unity wasn't instilled in the next generation from an early age, the social conditioning all round might succeed in snuffing it out entirely.
Part of me would like to believe that Argyle knew about Sunny's destiny, but another part just feels like he would be the one to guide her on the right path, unsure of just how much of an impact she would have on the world. I certainly hope he's not dead and comes back in the series, or we at least get flashbacks of him and Sunny interacting.
Well he knew he had the Earth Pony Crystal but he never told Sunny. And plus the lighthouse he lived in had an inscription of the Unity Crystal (that’s what I’m calling it) and Sunny never noticed it til now, so it could be possible that maybe he knew the whole time but kept it a secret because he wanted Sunny to figure out herself.
First I really like Argyle and I pray he reappears during the series second I do think it’s possible he knew something of Sunny’s destiny not like see into the future levels but I do think he may of at the very least knew about the stones it’s possible he put it in her lamp to keep it safe after all no pony would touch a lamp with all the races on it as it’s taboo that being said I’m unsure if he knew the stones would bring back the lost magic but I do think he knew his daughter would reunite the races one day that’s my thoughts anyway
I feel like Argyle was teaching his daughter to keep an open mind and in so doing planted the seeds of hope for the future by showing her that you can find friends in the most unexpected places or ponies despite how bad propaganda made them out to be,( kinda like the propaganda from the world wars and then troops realizing hey there just people too, people with homes lives and families to return to when this is over.) and with that open minded nature she became the spark of friendship showing other ponies that these others races are just like the other earth ponies, taught that every other race is something to fear and run away from when in actuality there basically the same. As izzy once stated " take away our wings and horns were all just frightened steeds." Which truth be told, compleetly accurate.
I'm honestly surprised Hasbro started off with such a diverse topic as a dead loved one. They did have it in G4 with Pearbutter and Bright Mac, but it was never truly expressed that they had passed on. Sonny knows and expresses emotions lined up with grief over the loss of Argyle and perhaps led her to push on his research.
The toys could have been made for Argyle's research, models of what the Mane 6 looked like, and then given to his daughter after he'd finished the work. As for Celestia, she had an obvious hint in that Twilight's cutie mark was mainly the Element of Magic (the one element with a distinctive shape that didn't change when taken up by the Mane 6). Her faith in Twilight wasn't just confidence in an apt pupil.
@DRWolf001 How about a video on Sunny's Mother. We see no mention of her in the film. There aren't any pictures of her in Sunnys home at all. Why is that? Did she die while giving birth? Or, here is an interesting thought...what if Sunny's mother was a Unicorn or Pegasus, and they were forced to split up when Sunny was born. Maybe those 2 had to live a secret life since the pony races were split up. If she was of another pony race, that could explain why there is no pictures or ways to identify her mom in Sunnys house, since if the other earth ponies of Maretime Bay knew, their fear and zenophopic ways would kick in and would exile Argyle and Sunny or something bad.
I don't think they would exile argyle or sunny as both were and still are massive promoters of pony peace and the worst sunny ever got is banned from canterlogic and argyle was only made a social outcast for his actions in preserving equestrias history
Unrelated to this video, but the burning question I still have is this: How are the sun and moon moving? Either Celestia and Luna are still alive, Twilight is still alive, the amulet Twilight used to move them early on still exists (but if so, who is using it?), or some other alicorn has taken over the job.
probably like how our sun,and moon do through resonance creating orbits, also i do wonder if spike, and twilight went up to crystal empire, and twilight, and flurryheart through the crystal heart created a invisibility spell over the empire, like how king sombra did before cadence was crowned the new crystal pony princess after her mother,or relative the 1st crystal pony princess of love who was probably married to king sombra, and that love potion the cmc's used on cheerilee, and big mac was the darkside of the story so candences ancestor became chysalis, and this drove sombra mad,and if flurryheart is a descendant of her mother's ancestor and with her aunt twilight's help hid the crystal empire a second time, could sunny and her new friends revive the crystal heart which revives the crystal empire, but gives flurryheart a choice become a good alicorn,or bad alicorn, like in star wars when anakin was given a choice stay on the light side of the force,or join the darkside, like how in g4 luna took the dark road, and became nightmare moon, before her sister reformed, and what would've have happened if sunny decided not to follow her father's advice and the 3 types of ponies never revived the magic that created strong group bonds between the 3,then later 4 types of ponies, and they became friends without needing enhanced magic,i gather to hasbro that would be to much like our world, and then they couldn't sell magical talking horses as friends for certain of us humans to relate to,then it would like when g1 firefly 1st met maghan, and saw meghan had a plain old pony named tj,sure tj was probably a cool horse, but he couldn't fly,or teleport like g1 twilight could,or had had crystal eyes like fizzy pop,who was probably a ancestor of the crystal ponies mixed with a unicorn.
There was foreshadowing of Sunny becoming an alicorn from when she was little and making those wings and horn, to the canterlogic factory safety pony pieces she ends up in. To the fact that Izzy said her luminescent sparkle is lavender. The fact that the earth pony crystal and the device which held all 3 crystals was located in the lighthouse is significant. Particularly once they are reunited and create the aurora that spreads across all of equestria, reminiscent of the crystal heart. What if they were created by Twilight and Flurry Heart, as they foresaw what was to come, and needed a solution to help bring the magic of friendship back. They also knew that they would need it to determine who should be the new ruler of a reunited equestria.
I don't think she is a true alicorn.... yet. Not quite yet. It could be atm she has the powers of all three ponies but doesn't have the immense power an alicorn has.
@@taddad2641 well I wouldn't expect her to either. Just that she has been revealed to be the new ruler. I believe that they have a long way to go before she can be officially coronated and installed. As equestria is not completely reunited yet. Only then will Sunny truly ascend the throne.
I think Argyle stumbled upon something while researching about Ancient Equestria but was puzzled at first but after seeing how Sunny was also interested into the other ponykind (because let's be honest, if a parent's kid wasn't interested in something, they wouldn't put this much effort), he realized maybe it could be Sunny who would be the one to unite all ponykind so he raised her to hope one day all ponykind would be united.
One bigger question would be where exactly did he get all that research material to begin with? Considering that the pony races had separated, they would have came up with their own inaccurate versions of past events and based their history books on those claims. An example of this habit of creating badly recalled history has been displayed in an episode of G4 involving a boat ride gone bad with some of Twilight's friends having different recollections of the trip. It also shows up in real life when national leaders try to change or destroy what is written in history books, so something similar would have happened in this case. Because of this, Arygle would not be able to find accurate, original material simply by going to random libraries and the like. I also highly doubt that he was an archeologist at any point, considering that he seems to have a career in toy making. On the topic of predictions, I don't think that he was actually predicting anything based on a prophecy, nor do I think Celestia did, either. I think it's mainly a 'faith thing'. In the case of Celestia, I think she predicted Twilight's involvement with Nightmare Moon from Twilight's cutie mark. She witnessed Twilight get it and probably immediately noticed that it resembled the Element of Magic, indicating the possibility that Twilight could use the Elements. This would get 'Tia's hopes up about Twilight's capabilities. This is probably why she asked Twilight to become her personal student. In the case of Arygle, I didn't notice anything right off the bat that could indicate him foreseeing Sunny going all alicorn or anything. There is one thing that really stands out with Arygle, though; he somehow has one of the stones in his possession. Each stone seems to have a random history, with one being a royal heirloom, a second randomly ending up in a gambler's hooves, and a third hidden away in a toymaker's house. A lot of the mystery of the 3 stones' origins have yet to be revealed and I wonder if Arygle has some connection to it. It is my guess that maybe his family line had been safekeeping an archive of materials throughout the generations, along with the stone. This seems like the most logical conclusion as to how he has both the stone and all that material. Sunny was probably just the next in line to hold that tradition and that is why she has been taught all this by her dad.
Sunny's isn't the typical Chosen One story. When you look at stories like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix or even MLP:FiM, there's always an older character that comes to pick up the protagonist and tell them where to go and what to do. Nobody told Sunny what to do. Her dad only told her the stories of the past. Even sending the letter that got Izzy to Maretime Bay was her own idea. She wasn't chosen, she chose herself. She's quite possibly the most proactive protagonist I've ever seen. Outside of maybe Eren Jaeger, but let's not go there. But on the other hand, she did have the earth pony crystal, so maybe there was a destiny for her after all.
I think it's possible that while maybe didn't know for sure that she herself would be the one to unite the tribes. I think he wanted her to at the veryleast push others to try and unite. perhaps in a way he maybe was hoping she would keep his dream alive and get others to side with there belief and her uniting the tribes and becoming an alicorn was just a happy accident that would be beyond argyles happiest imaginations. it would also be interesting if sunny gose looking for him thinking he is still alive, but he is in fact dead but she thinks he is and maybe even looses some of her power or something happens to her because she wants to find him only for her friends to be there to support her when she realizes he is never coming back.
Considering that we don't have information on exactly what Argyle discovered about the past, it is highly possible that he did stumble upon some sort of prophecy. It is also possible that it was exactly that prophecy that kept him going, because it gave him hope. And so he slowly began to set things up for Sunny. I would find it odd if no one knew magic would disappear or was beginning to. Especially Celestia, even though she retired, since she does have some way to have premonitions.
I have a theory it's pretty out there. Where are some of the parents of the mane 5 ponies. My Theory is that Twilight Sparkle is sunny's mother but that's just a theory how else would Sunny's father know so much about Ancient Equestria and the main six when others do not.
Crazy Theory: Sunny is genetically engineered, and theres a giant underground lab under the lighthouse! Probably not true, but if they decide to make sunnys origins a mystery now, i can say i called it
@@eagletgriff interesting. ive also got another idea: equestria had dozens of cities in the past, but G5 only has 3 judging by the pegasus station only going to the other two, what if the new "world" is inside of a bubble, separating it from the outside world. hunter x hunters "official world map" is fake, since all of its "continents" are actually just small islands in a lake located in the bigger dark continent. but that place is too scary for humans as even ants can kick humanities butt there.
@@proclarushtaonasat thats interesting and very possible. That could explain why other creatures are not present, though it'll be rather hard to explain in a way it makes sense
@@eagletgriff it wouldnt need an actual bubble. whoever seperated the tribes already erased memories of celestias and twilights rule, so theyd just erase all knowledge of other areas, so everyone believes, the world map ends at a certain point. the fear of the other tribes would keep ponies from wandering too far from their cities. hunter x hunter did it, by the government printing false world maps, and everyone just accepted them, as the outside world was too dangerous and most people that went there died, so noone ever tried to reach their version of india by going west.
What if Argyle isn't Sunny's biological father? A mysterious stranger showed up on Argyle's doorstep carrying a babe in swaddling cloth and said, "Please watch her for me. There is a grave injustice I must undo. All of Equestria depends on it.", and just as quickly, the mysterious stranger left. While Argyle was taking care of the foal, while waiting for the stranger to return, he finds a crystal and a strange pendant with a six-pointed star on it. The stranger never returns and Argyle begins raising Sunny on his own. Curious about the pendant, the crystal and the stranger that gave him his now adoptive daughter, Argyle begins traveling the length and breadth of the land searching for any information, though never finding out whom the stranger was, he finds plenty of evidence of the alicorn princesses, the elements of harmony, the tribes being once united and everyone having magic. He settles in Maretime bay and takes up residence as the lighthouse keeper while compiling his notes and gathering up old maps, all without knowing that beneath his hooves was an ancient mechanism meant to unite three crystals.
The main question here is who Arygle really was, as he pretty much had all/most of the knowledge of old Equestria. Also notice the color pattern resembles certain unicorns from the past. I wonder if his family has been entrusted to preserve this knowledge among the generations until the right time came.
I realized something. Argyle might be the descendant of Twilight Sparkle. This is just speculation, and I know ponies can share similar colors, but look at Argyle. Light purple skin, purple hair, purple eyes, and streaks of a light purple/pink in his hair. I just realized that, and it lines up a bit to perfectly to be a coincidence. Not to mention the idea of him passing down the legacy and him knowing about the crystals, magic, everything. I am now beginning to think Twilight Sparkle is Sunny's ancestor. And it would be fitting that the descendant of Twilight would bring alicorn's back once more. That's what we see in the movie, Sunny becomes an alicorn. Even the name "Sunny Starscout" kind of rings a tone beside the name "Twilight Sparkle." I think Argyle and Sunny might be the descendants of Twilight Sparkle. I already put this comment on the most recent video of Sawtooth Waves, but I also wanted to see if you had any ideas and thoughts on it as well.
oh i definitely think he knew what he was doing, he put the earth pony crystal in a toy he knew she would cherish and im sure he knew what its purpose was as well, he may not have known it was going to be her, but he thought she could do it.
Theory look at Scootaloos colors then look at Argyles colors then look at Sunnys Sunny has cooler tones of Scootaloos colors Argyle has cool colors I think that Scootaloo is Sunnys mom
naah, too much time went by from g4 i think. But maybe Sunny is still related to them and that is the reason why her Dad was so invested into finding out about the past. (sorry for my english btw =.=)
I agree doc. If Celestia did write a prophecy I imagine it would says, "Let the one who finds this know that pony's can be ruited. It will be by a mare who lives in a lighthouse with three stones representing each race." I sure Argyle realized that the only lighthouse is the one in Maretime Bay. He bought it or already owned it. He finds the first stone not long before his Daughter is born. And beleaved that she is the one mentioned considering all the other coincidences.
Well, he had a book with Twilight's Cutie Mark on it, and a medallion with Spike's "Friendship Ambassador" logo. Who knows just what he knows, and where he got that information from.
I don't think Argyle died, I think he was taken away by some Earth pony Nazis to an Earth pony concentration camp because Earth ponies would have thought he's "paranoid" for knowing one day the pony races would one day reunite.
I don't think the earth ponies lived in a dystopia or dictatorship judging by the ending It appears xenophobia and fear were all that held them back canterlogic was only profiting off their fears
I feel like he did know and made the cardboard outfit in that design as representation and who know maybe he will pull a starswirl the bearded and return
Dear Mr. Wolf it would make sense all guys what we would call archeologist who knows he might even found some aint to artifacts like say nightmare moon's armor
Argyle believed in the Restoration of Ponykind. Perhaps it is simply natural that parents tend to instill their values in their children and believe that their children have an important destiny to fulfil. If Argyle were grooming Sunny to become a messiah... He is too gentle and light-hearted to imagine such thinking going on in his mind.
How much did Argyle know and when did he know it? It can't be a coincidence that he possessed the Earth-pony gem and lived in the very place where all three gems could be brought together.
His family had been entrusted with the earth pony crystal. I think it was partially he glfelt he had a strong obligation to make sure the next generation carried on keeping to beliefs that crystal was meant to represent-that, and he 2as a loving father that doted on his daughter.
I don’t think Argyle fully knew about Sunny’s destiny but had a feeling she was destined to do something great. I think the reason why he made such detailed figures of the Mane Six is because he was a researcher of the past in Equestria and Sunny was the only Pony that loved to listen to his stories of the past and he wanted to make sure that information would never be lost over time. All the other Ponies of Maretime Bay virtually shunned Argyle because of his research and outspoken desire to see all three Ponies groups become one as friends. Sunny wanted to unite all of the Ponies and bring an age similar to Twilight’s Equestria and continue passing of the history of Equestria for generations to come.
Argyle was a Historican, you could say. He was teaching Sunny the Past, because she was the only who want to listen to him, and somepony need to continue his Work after him. So maybe it is like Celetia and Twilight, where Celestia has always see Twilight as her Successor and for that she has Teach her Student everything she need to know. It is similar to a Druid or Shaman, who has an Apprentice, where the Old teach the Young, so the Young some day take the Place of the Old. The same Argyle has made with Sunny. He maybe not have see her as the Pony who bring back Magic, but as the Pony who cary on the Knowledge of the Past. The best Way to raise interest are Toys for a Filly, so she raise up with the Storys and maybe Argyle didn't know this Gem is more then a Gem who give Light.
I think they must have some relationship to one of the original mane 6 cause as you said no normal pony from that era is interested in the other pony races so he knows stories told by his family and their past
I have a hypothesis about Argyle; I theorize that Argyle is a descendent of Twilight Sparkle or Flurry Heart. He posses too many acient Alicorn-related objects items that make it plausible. Most notable; the feather kept under glass; an Alicorn feather. I suspect it was an 'heirloom' of sorts; a marker or proof that their family bloodline came from an Alicorn princess. Argyle knew that sooner or later, the magic within their family history would re-manifest again.
I'm just wondering where he got the visuals required to make accurate depictions of each pony, plus a stuffed dragon toy. Which reminds me. The series is going to have to introduce a young dragon who was named after his illustrious ancestor. You can't have a My Little Pony without a Spike.
I personally think it's just parental love. I mean, I know my parents, they built playhouses, dolls and plushies for me. They handmade everything they could and had the time to. I would try to do the same, even if I'm not that talented (only medium crafty). But I'd focus intently on teaching about friendship, just like Argyle. I can see him having loving parents of his own, telling him about the wonders of friendship. And then, just like me, seeing ponys/people and the world around him change for the worst and friendliness slowly degrading and racism, selfishness and fear spreading. I feel like I want to instead grow the love and feeling of belonging - so I would teach my child, if I had one. So this is my theory. Simple, really.
I wonder if the spirit of harmony would still be around in g5 and maybe other inmortal like creatures with a longer lifespam. And I think G5's series is gonna include many references and easter eggs to G4.
Even bigger question is as to why and how was he told the story of the three tribes separation? I think I know how, but this is just speculated theory: Is it possible that Argyle was somehow contacted by Princess Twilight Sparkle about a prophesy a chosen one? Think about, why else would Argyle keep the Earth Pony Crystal in the lighthouse? Was it coincidence, or is there something bigger at play here? I believe that Twilight contacted Sunny's father the same way Celestia did with her student when her transformation to Alicornhood was shown in the Mystery Cure episode. Another note. Argyle used the crystal as a reflective source of light for the lantern and years later when Sunny found it, she knew that it was the last one, meaning Argyle somehow knew that his daughter was indeed chosen by the Princess herself. As for Twilight's role, I believe that she was told of the prophesy by Zecora, now I know she is indeed a sort of a mystic and healer, but could it be possible for Zecora to catch a glimpse of the future centuries ahead? This is a lot to chew on, but I like to believe that this may be somehow the case.
I feel Argyle’s gonna have a big role in the series (not to say that he’s secretly alive or anything). Like, maybe there’ll be an overarching story about what he’s been researching and we’ll see him through flashbacks
Yeah, that would seem fair.
I think he's still alive. He probably went out to search for the elements of harmony or the last alicorn or something and never came back.
@@dragonninja3655 Maybe, we'll see what happens.
Sunny: What are you telling me? That I can dodge laser beams?
Argyle: No, Sunny. I'm telling you that when you're ready, you won't have to.
That a reference to something?
@@vanoskuro-ponyform1714 Yes, to a little-known 1999 film called The Matrix.
It's still sad that he didn't lived to see his whole life's career of research and never saw everypony united. I think he does have faith on Sunny bringing all Pony kinds together.
oo cool very nice theory
Considering there was a device in the lighthouse designed to hold the crystals of the three races and he had the earth pony crystal, there's a good chance he actually found the crystal in the lighthouse and decided to make it his home as a result.
From there, studying it quite likely made him vaguely aware of its purpose, but he never had the time or ability to search for the other crystals.
One thing I like about G5 over G4, varying pony anatomy. I'm not sure if Pipp is smaller because she's significantly younger, but Izzy without her horn is really tall; she's taller than Hitch and Zipp.
Also Hitch and Sprout are different. Sprout is more thin and soft looking, while Hitch has a larger snout and broader chest
Dr I think you have so many new appointments with so many new painshents.
@@FallenCreature1997 I guess if the Mane 6 were animated in this style, there would be physical differences, only so much you can do in flash. Apple Jack would be like Hitch and Fluttershy would be thin but taller than Pipp.
I noticed that too! I love that Pipp actually looks younger than Zipp without looking like a little kid. It's such a nice subtlety.
Agreed! They really used the CGI to their advantage in this regard and I am very happy for it.
"Keeping the Queen clean, keeping the Queen clean...."
Sunny only ever says "I wish you were here." No pony ever mentions that he is actually dead. What if he left to find Twilight, or restore magic himself, and never returned? I can see Argyle coming back in the series.
true, he could be MIA
pretty obvious he’s dead- (I think)
It's the same way they talked about Applejack's parents in G4. Hasbro doesn't like to openly say somepony is dead.
Another theory was that maybe he was locked up after Sunny became an adult, at least that’s what I’ve thought about
They went through the trouble of showing his glasses and necklace, and making the camera linger on them with a slow and sad background music, so they obviously want us to think he's dead.
Yeah he really did a great job as a parent, unlike Phyllis.
Do you think he would recognize her own daughter even if she is in her alicorn form.
This kinda reminds me of when Po became The Dragon Warrior. It’s like Oogway knew Po was the chosen one the whole time but kept it a secret.
He knew about the Foreshadowing... (for dramatic effect)
It’s almost as if Sunny was his faithful student. Like Twilight is Celestia’s faithful student, knowing that both of them will one day succeed in their destiny.
What about luster dawn?
@@ronaldpagar6513 Probably the same thing. But they never showed what she did.
Something I think that could be a big adventure hook for the upcoming series, is what if they found a second research journal from Argyle, it could be discovered any now revealed hidden compartment of the lighthouse.
They could even go as far as saying it might hold the secret to finding out “what happened to him.”
It’s implied heavily that he’s dead.
But seeing as how he was researching ancient Equestria, maybe even trying to figure out where did the magic go.
maybe he just didn't come back? or... was visiting her 'mom'.
Yaaaay
Edit: I love how on the book he's always holding has Fluttershy on it lol❤️
i wonder what sunny, izzy, pip, zipp, and hitch will find out from their ancestors about g4 groups of ponies like the mane 6 plus their very close young male dragon friend, spike, and what probably happened to g4 pony society is that the mane 6's feelings for spike broke up the group, since fluttershy was so happy to meet a talking male dragon, that she almost put twilight in the hospital, and twilight became confused over her feelings for spike as adopted mother/sister that she wanted to get spike to their new home in ponyville as fast as she could ,plus i felt twilight was jealous of spike developing a strong crush on rarity when he first saw her, plus applejack, and rarity seemed to be jealous of their sisters applebloom, and sweetie belle having feelings towards spike, plus even though rarity downplayed her feelings toward spike this seemed to make pinkie pie, applejack, and rainbow dash a little jealous of their other mare friends for having feelings toward spike, plus male dragon garble seemed to be jealous of the feelings the 5 mares, then later starlight glimmer had to spike,i not saying these female ponies wanted to make out with spike, but if spike is pining enough for unicorn mare rarity that he wear's a shirt with rarity in the middle, then i wonder how strong their group friendship was just beyond being very close friends, since discord as a male draconques got very jealous of mare tree hugger becoming close friends with mare fluttershy, this might be very interesting into g5 mlp from g4 mlp since hitch is the only male stallion, unless other stallions join the mane 5 group ,since hitch now has 4 very cute mares around him, what will other stallions think and feel, and will even though it seems sprout has gotten back into being a good stallion could his jealous still be around toward hitch since now hitch has a group of mares, beyond just being a lead police officer in a earth pony city of maretime bay in the new ponyland states of equestria, just more stuff to ponder as we wait for generation 5 season 1 to start next year
Argyle would have been so proud of his little pony.
What if he isn't dead, just missing?
She's not a little pony. She's a average height.
“I think you’ll find I’m average height.” She’s not small!
Rare that something like that pops off, to become something of history...something of legend.
This hits different now.
Indeed :)
Maybe argyle knew the gem was special and was tasked to keep it safe
I like to believe that yes, Argyle knew. Some parent's just have a sixth sense when it comes to their child and their destinies. That's why he passed on his knowledge to her, as well as taught her that standing up for your beliefs is important. He also knew enough about how friendship worked in the past, and did his best to send Sunny down the same path that Twilight took (friendship, standing up for your beliefs, unity between all races, etc). I also want to really believe that when Sunny was giving up and the sun came out, revealing the third gem, that it was Argyle's spirit once again guiding her.
The little figurines remind me of the Mane 6 figurines from Fallout: Equestria
G4:
Celestia = Mother role
Twilight = Daughter role
G5:
Argyle = Actual father
Sunny = Actual daughter
Conclusion, Argyle was the future representation of Celestia and Sunny is the future representation of Twilight
Just reading the description sounds like the remnants of an idea of when they were still deciding whether to keep Earth Pony Twilight or not.
IT'S MY FAVORITE MOVIE AND IT WILL ONLY BE BEATEN BY ANOTHER PONY MOVIE
Argyle might have foreshadowed Sunny's karma in prospect by uncovering some intrinsic elements and retrospective artifacts to have the 3 distinctive pony breeds rely on the new 5 prominent characters.
And I'd love to see some sentimentality, embedded in a foreign object or something, either alternative ways, my genuine notion sounds a bit more plausible than it hypothetically seems.
It honestly wouldn't surprise me if Argyle and Sunny are descended from one of the alicorns, which could help explain why he was so invested in his research and kindness on top of everything said here.
Maybe he believed that she could because he somehow discovered that they share a bloodline to Twilight Sparkle.
I'm glad they had a good paternal example in this film.
I've watched it nine times already. I really do enjoy it, it's 20% cooler than I expected.
Hello friend
@@Hope-Sparkle Hallo!
His research on griffins and their relatives ended when Argyle learned of Silver Quill. Some paths simply should not be taken... :p
That’s a really great theory. I really like your theories Doc. Keep up the good work as always. 😉👍🏻
I’m now envisioning Argyle singing that song Celestial sang to Twilight when she became an alicorn lmao
Unity crystal is acualy the name hasbro Went with but i harmony Stone is better.
Oh I definately think he knew a LOT more then he let on for all the reasons Dr Wolf mentioned so its good to see others think so too!
You are probably going to laugh at me or say that it is some dumb idea, but I feel like Sunny should have a love interest.
Excuse me, what about luster dawn?
@@ronaldpagar6513 please clarify what your query is
@@katmaresparkles9578 i thought she's going to be.the New leader of equestria
Given Argyle’s hair color palette kinda gave me Twilight descendant vibe. So ya I can see him knowing.
i think Sunnys mother was a unicorn or pegasus and thats why sunnys dad spent so much time teaching her about friendship adn respect for the other two
Instant headcanon, Doc.
I am more interested in finding out why he was disney'd off screen.
I like the theory.
Anyone notice how in that tuck in scene Argyle has some serious Twilight Sparkle hair? His hair also has hints of all the core five's mane colors.
I have a theory it's pretty out there. Where are some of the parents of the mane 5 ponies. My Theory is that Twilight Sparkle is sunny's mother but that's just a theory how else would Sunny's father know so much about Ancient Equestria and the main six when others do not.
Maybe he found a prophesy? It's possible.
Crazy Theory: Sunny is genetically engineered, and theres a giant underground lab under the lighthouse!
Probably not true, but if they decide to make sunnys origins a mystery now, i can say i called it
This reminds me of some pokemon fan-thing (a book or hacked rom?) where red/the player was genetically engineered by prof. Oak
I guess we have to wait for the special to come next year to get more answers and questions
But who's this mysterious stranger?
I think he had a gut feeling about it but hey,I think he's smiling about what his daughter did up in Heaven.
There's something about an alicorn heir... Course he knew.
The main question here is who Arygle really was, as he pretty much had all/most of the knowledge of old Equestria. Also notice the color pattern resembles certain unicorns from the past. I wonder if his family has been entrusted to preserve this knowledge among the generations until the right time came.
He reminds me of sci twi 😭
Even the name "Sunny Starscout" kind of rings a tone beside the name "Twilight Sparkle."
I think Argyle and Sunny might be the descendants of Twilight Sparkle.
I already put this comment on the most recent video of Sawtooth Waves, but I also wanted to see if you had any ideas and thoughts on it as well.
Argyles skin is Blue, not purple.
oh i definitely think he knew what he was doing, he put the earth pony crystal in a toy he knew she would cherish and im sure he knew what its purpose was as well, he may not have known it was going to be her, but he thought she could do it.
Maybe he found the gem, thought it was pretty and kept it, then wanted to use it in the pony light not knowing how useful it would be.
Theory look at Scootaloos colors then look at Argyles colors then look at Sunnys
Sunny has cooler tones of Scootaloos colors Argyle has cool colors I think that Scootaloo is Sunnys mom
naah, too much time went by from g4 i think. But maybe Sunny is still related to them and that is the reason why her Dad was so invested into finding out about the past. (sorry for my english btw =.=)
@@arianadorosch7995 don’t be sorry, their is nothing wrong.
I don't think the earth ponies lived in a dystopia or dictatorship judging by the ending
It appears xenophobia and fear were all that held them back canterlogic was only profiting off their fears
I feel like he did know and made the cardboard outfit in that design as representation and who know maybe he will pull a starswirl the bearded and return
Dear Mr. Wolf it would make sense all guys what we would call archeologist who knows he might even found some aint to artifacts like say nightmare moon's armor
a memory stone and grogars bell too
Argyle believed in the Restoration of Ponykind.
I like to believe that dad would hope her daughter to be the hope Equestria needs, but I don't think he would go as far as planning out destiny.
Don't forget, well if anyone has noticed, the balloon that Izzy found that was sent has the same pattern as Twilight's balloon
I think they must have some relationship to one of the original mane 6 cause as you said no normal pony from that era is interested in the other pony races so he knows stories told by his family and their past
Yes, he had insider knowledge.
Sunny the Chosen One
dr wolf i am worrid that sawtooth is in big trouble because might have found out what he has been doing these past several years.
Mabe he was aiming to do it himself?
