I had a theory that Sunny was adopted by Argyle, who turns out to be a very important pony in Equestrian history as a member of a group who researched the ancient world, and the safest place for Sunny and Argyle would be in Maretime Bay. But I changed my mind after I saw the concept art of their matching color schemes. And as a digital artist and animator obsessed with colors, I have no idea how I didn't notice his colors matching Izzy's perfectly lol. I love this theory of them being sisters. I'd imagine either they're twins, or they were only a few months or years apart in age and were too young to remember traveling with their whole family together. Then, if you add this theory with the one about Argyle being alive and trapped somewhere magical or something like that, you could theorize that both of their parents are trapped together. There could be an episode where they discover through other ponies or creatures that they are sisters and maybe even see a picture of them all together, and hear that they could still be alive, so they set out to find them. Happily ever after lol

Argyle being Twilight's descendant would make alot of sense both love books and learning there knowledge of friendships between the different ponys could have been through reading her friendship journal and the gem could have also been given to him through family also he had a necklace with Twilight's cutie mark or really close .plus the color scheme is very similar aswell . I had expressed the idea of Sunny's mom being in a different group (Pegasus or Unicorn) in your last video about Argile, so it's not much of a shock. The idea of Sunny following Celestia's hoofprints makes perfect sense (and not just due to the name similarity). She is more outgoing than twilight, despite the purplish hair color and Izzy expressing that her sparkle was lavender. Sunny pushes for the idea of pony unity and the idea of the three groups working together and seems to hold the idea of general group morale/ponies working together. The idea of friendship being the base came from stories about Twilight who was Celestia's student, so yes, Twilight has been put on a pedestal in Sunny's eyes. However, Sunny seems to work through encouraging others (ponies in particular) in a similar way that the idea of Celestia raising the sun brought encouragement to ponies who were scared of things falling apart. Twilight was not as outgoing initially and even had to be pushed at times to take initiative. In a way, she reminds me of the best of Applejack and Celestia combined. Applejack is able to work hard and adjust to some degree as needed. Celestia is able to inspire others, but still show humility/forgiveness (especially towards the end of G4) because she is aware of limits and wants to encourage others to generally do their best/help each other.
You know that’s what I believed too. Perhaps Argyle fell in love with a unicorn or Pegasus but they couldn’t be together because of the whole separation thing. But they end up getting eloped anyways. But they were still forced to separate. And maybe Sunny has a secret brother or sister who was a unicorn or a Pegasus.
Until we see more complete family trees, I'm going to assume color schemes are random, not genetic. That's mostly how it was in G4 (although it became a little more organized in later seasons). Right now, every known parent is single so we can't put anything together yet. That said, I doubt Sunny and Izzy are related simply because we already have a family dynamic in the Mane 5, that being Zipp and Pipp. Adding another one would probably dilute the whole "friendship" theme.

This is very interesting that Sunny’s mom could be a unicorn. It would explain why Sunny’s dad is soo interested in equestria’s history. This could also be the reason why he is missing. I mean could he be out there looking for his wife? Whatever the case may be I’m looking forward to the new Netflix series explaining the situation. And I will admit it does remind me of the rebooted DuckTales series when we get to find out what happened to Huey, louie, and Dewey‘s mother Della duck.
What the hell happened to hitches family he leaves Sunny's house with sprout and Phyllis in the film's opening but was apparently allowed to spend more time with sunny than Sprout was which makes you wonder what's going on with his family compared to Argyle and Phyllis is clear hatred of each other
Maybe Hitch is an orphan, but he was adopted by Phyllis, who only cared about raising Sprout and giving him her racism, completely ignoring Hitch, not only because he was her adopted, not biological child, but also because he didn't wanted to listen and appreciate her racism since childhood. That probably makes Sprout and Hitch adopted siblings, and maybe introduce their hard, but still brotherly and interesting relationship.
Someone on Derpibooru made a Headcanon that Sunny and Argyle are Future Descendants of Starlight Glimmer. A Headcanon I pretty much accepted. And since it is possible Starlight married Sunburst, it's possible thay are descendants of Sunburst too.
My thoughts about it when I first viewed the movie is that Argyle's ancestors were passing down the heritage through their family, because they are Twilight's descendants.
I love the idea of Sunny & Izzy being (secretly) sisters. imagine look on their faces when they find out if that turns out to be the case (If any of the MLP writers who are working on the series is watching this, even if it's not exactly the plan initially, maybe they could perhaps consider the idea). :)
Not so ludicrous if you're open-minded like Argyle. Intriguing if Sunny learns about her family. It would be a plot twist if Izzy were related to Sunny. Big coincidence for Izzy to find Sunny's invitation to meet her. Sunny and Izzy as Celestia and Luna is an interesting yet far fetched theory, because they do not have the power to move the sun or moon (not yet at any rate).
I think that since Twilight gave up her alicornness for her citizens, she appeared as an Earth pony, being accepted by their village. Living in the village and is not immortal she may have started a family. So she passed down her story from generation to generation, until it reached Sunny. Maybe Sunny's mom wasn't a unicorn but she had an ancestor who was.
I actually really like this idea. It actually already reminds me of a fanfic where Izzy was actually born in Zephyr Heights and the Queen, while still a Princess, had to take her to the Unicorn Forest so she could have a normal life. Now I'm kinda hoping that some form of this idea will be touched on in the series, even if it doesn't involve Sunny directly.

The premise is that any non-matching foals are to be treated as dead and be instead sent to their matching race's home instead due to an ancient pact. I can totally see it! I really want it to be canon! Imagine, Argyle searching and exploring the world for answers of the past. While discovering his findings, he stumbles upon a unicorn. They’re skittish at first towards each other but maybe through days and nights of conversation because they were just so darn curious of each other, they get comfortable. Talking about things they have in common, Argyles findings, and the Equestrian past, they eventually develop feelings for one another. They have a life together away from both the earth and unicorn ponies because they knew none of them would accept their relationship. Time past and they have two fillies, Sunny, and Izzy. An earth pony and a unicorn. They try to raise their infant ponies but come to a realization that, they can’t isolate their fillies from society forever. However, at the same time, they can’t raise the fillies together in society because of the propaganda. So with tough consideration, they choose to raise Sunny and Izzy separately with their respective breeds. This might be going a little too far but I would personally love thisz
You just described the theory I came up with myself the second Sunday after the movie was released! I wondered myself how Argyle's color scheme matches up with Izzy with none of it shared by Izzy. I didn't want to share this theory with anyone in case it turned out to be true and potentially spoil a Star Wars-esque plot twist. If Sunny and Izzy are unbeknownst to themselves sisters born from Argyle and an unnamed unicorn, could they also BOTH become the new royal sisters of Equestria who respectively raise and lower the sun and moon like Celestia and Luna did once the magical properties of the world are fully restored?
This idea would be wonderful for the show,which is probably why won't get it :( it would make an interesting dynamic, especially the idea of Izzy and Sunny ending up as sisters. I suggested in response to a fan fic based on the idea of looking for Sunny's mom of "What if her mother is an Alicorn?" Which would be similarly interesting. Her nothing haveing to leave Sunny and Argyle behind so Sunny could have a "Normal" Childhood. The idea that Sunny and Izzy are sisters would be similar, the two parents each taking one child because there was no settledment where they could all be accepted. We shall see, I just very much am hoping the other races are covered. What happened to dragons? With out magic how did changelings adapt? What about Hippogriffs/Seaponies did thier civilization split and now they don't even remember they are the same species?
I don't know how to feel about this, I mean I do ship Sunny and Izzy. And my personal theory is that in the series, Sunny will develop some negative traits, that are easily resolved by friendship, some traits she inherited from her mom, who can easily be a villain. But that's just my stupid theory :)
If that were it be possible wouldn't the creators have had Izzy (after realizing Sunny sent that message) not only realize Sunny was the one who sent that message but also realize that Sunny and her are sisters of some sort? But either way it would be nice to have that be both a meet of the g5 main 5 and family reunion.
When I heard you suggesting that idea, it started the wheels turning. And yes... I suppose that would make a lot of sense! Especially when proposed that Sunny's mom (and any unicorn siblings) would obviously need to leave town to escape persecution... or the reverse, if Sunny and Argyle moved there from the unicorn forest. The only plot hole I could think of would be how Sunny and her father never talk about her mom, even in the privacy of their home. But that could've been simply a means of quelling any conflict or persecution from the other citizens of Maritime Bay. Or maybe (for our own suspense) we simply didn't observe those moments.
It could be that Argyle was worried that Sunny would tell everyone in a misguided attempt at convincing everyone that the three tribes are meant to be friends, he might've planned to tell her when she was older but died/vanished before he could. It could also be why he never told anyone about magic being gone if it ever came up, the plan could've been to find the crystals and restore magic as a peace offering.
Well, Argyle's CutieMark happens to have Twilight's star in it. If you get your CutieMark by being talented/passionate/knowledgeable about a specific topic then it's pretty easy to believe that someone educated Argyle on the past, or he taught himself which tells me that knowledge of the Mane 6 is still available; if not entirely left to lore.
Yeah I also have interesting theories about specific characters, first I kinda liked the background pony “beatnik unicorn” but in time it went on I have thought on many theories about this characters and the ponies she maybe descendant from. Personally I think it’s more likely that Izzy or Sunny could be distant relatives of the CMC Sunny could be related to scootaloo, they both share a color scheme and some personality traits, such as their skill to adapt to new situations and their determination. Izzy, could be a relative to sweetybelle. She is very good at crafts, just like Sweetybelle and Rarity, and has a bubbly personality like sweetybelle. Personally I think that Hitch might be a distant relative to the apple family, maybe a descendent from the apples from mane batten or appleusa. He is the sheriff of the town and has great leadership skills just like applejack. Zipp and Pipp, I believe they are descended from Princess Cadence the Pegasus royal family share a color scheme with Cadence, Shining Armor, and Flurry Heart. Not only that, but Cadence was originally a Pegasus, it’s possible that after a while, her blood lien changes back from Alicorn the Pegasus
I think that if her mother was a unicorn that would undermine her character, making her the game changer because she was born to it and not because she - like anypony else could - had a different view. And making her and her dad just two earth ponies from long line of earth ponies, but learning and developing different believes than the rest of their race because they DECIDED to open their hearts have more power. And Sunny is the protagonist not Argyle so him just beeing in the mixed relationship would not have any weight on that idea right now.
More than likely, Sunny and Izzy's motivations and ardor was inherited from an actual parents, but Izzy's remains foreign, and I slightly skeptical that Celestia and Luna would ever bequeath there corporal configurations, and then be resurrected as a cosmetic pony or unicorn. As much as my hypothetical principle and notion is plausible, I'm still gonna wait, not gonna get my aspirations up merely yet, and I'm gonna inevitably be patient, like I frequently am, and wait till the alternation of spring to implement. Then, merely then, I'd like to empirically see some expositional context, embedded in the upcoming series, itself, (which you can say, it's practical and pretty crucial too).
I had the same theory about Sunny's mother. And having Izzy as a plot-twist sister to Sunny as farfetched as it would be would be mind-blowing. But then again, Izzy was told of the prejudice's. But based on how well she was taking the 'hospitality' of Maritime bay (Which makes me perceive her as a loving puppy) she may have just had the same curiosities as Sunny and didn't believe the conspiracy theories or propaganda but kept them in mind for inquiry. They could be fraternal twins for all we know. That would be two sets in the main cast.
Something my little sister tried to make me think of was Argyle being a unicorn. She saw his mane and thought that his mane was hiding his horn. I find the thought of Sunny's mom being a unicorn but listening to this video made me think of what my little sister keeps on telling me.

What if Argyle is a descendant of Twilight Sparkle, not directly , but is in the Sparkle family, he has all this stuff because it is part of his family history. Just my guess, I have no idea
I was skeptical when i first saw the video title, but with that reasoning, yeah. Surprisingly it does fit some element of logic. But then can we really asign color schemes to parents. Let's look at the other parents we do know about, Zipp and Pipp and Queen Haven. While Pipp follows her mother's color scheme, Zipp has little to no relation to her mother's colors. Sprout and Phyllis. Sprout shares his mother's hair color but not her skin color, so he presumably is half his mum and half his dad. I am not going to speculate who anyone else's father might be. But if Sunny and Izzy are related, they very well could be sisters or twins separated at birth. (I don't think G4 tackled long-lost siblings.) Even if they are not directly related, they could still be cousins. Or maybe their parents were friends, but just never had children, but brought their daughters up with knowledge of knowing one another. (feels like the secondary plot of FF8) I think this theory has merit, and it has the potential to go somewhere, especially since the 2 get along so well, more than any other duo in g5. But for the writers to be bold enough to tackle this subject? I don't think they'd have the courage to do it.
Further on the sibling theory, Sunny was the only one who jumped in and got Izzy's song "fit right in" and was almost singing along with her while the others were struggling to keep up. On the flip side, Sunny's song "Gonna Be My Day", I don't think that it's a big stretch to imagine Izzy singing that song or her own very close variation. Conversely compare "I’m Lookin’ Out for You" with "Lotta Little things" two songs which are counters if Sunny and Izzy are sisters compared to Celestia and Luna. Maybe there is an element of foreshadowing or explaining deeper meaning with both songs. One near the end of G4 and the other at the very beginning of G5.
Now there's an interesting idea. And now I can't help but think of a Parent Trap style scenario. Siblings separated at an early age only to reunite in the future and try to get their parents back together. I like to believe that Argyle was born to unicorn parents, but no horn. So his parents sent him off to maritime bay. But his mom left him some sort of unicorn pendant or something. So when he got older, he wanted to look for his parents, find out where he was from. Which would explain his obsession with artifacts as he knew he was more than just an earth pony.
I think this theory is possible, especially since we never saw the mother, and we know pony races cross bread and sometimes don't express certain genetics they have hidden in them like genetics with recessive traits in our world, and I also think it's possible Sunny's father could be related to a member of the Mane 6. I think Argyle and Sunny are descendants of Twilight. It makes sense in a way, the idea that at one point there was unicorn lineage in their family, mixing in the ideas of unicorns, except Argyle is the love child of a past unicorn. If you look at his color scheme, you begin to see how his color scheme is similar to Twilight's. He has purple hair with pink stripes, purple skin, and purple eyes all like Twilight. This theory also explains the fact of how Argyle knows so much about Twilight and her friends past. It could've been passed down by his family, and it would make sense that Twilight if had a family she would want the lessons of friendship to be passed down so they wouldn't be forgotten. I mean he knows so much about magic and the past, maybe he was taught some of that, and explored the rest. It would be fitting that the unicorn that became an alicorn would have a descendant who would bring back friendship and magic by becoming an alicorn. It's a bit of a long shot, but it's an interesting idea nonetheless.
I actually sort of theorized Phyllis and Argyle to have been a thing at some point in time, and as much as the idea sticks with me, I really like your theory!
I wonder if Twilight was Sunny’s mother since she is so much like Twilight and maybe because she was ruling Equestria and she couldn’t look after Sunny and asked Argyle who may have been a close friend of hers or maybe even lover and when she gave birth to the foal she asked him to raise the foal. Just a thought.
So depending on the timespread between G4 and G5, my theory is that Luster Dawn could be Sunny's mom. Have you noticed that Sunny's colors are Luster Dawn's colors, but inversed? At some point Luster Dawn must have become Princess, met Argyle, had Sunny, and then went into hiding after the three races separated. This may also explain why Sunny was able to manifest Alicorn powers through the three jewels. Her wings and horn are very lustrous after all.
While I understand the interest, I would actually much prefer if instead of being related, Hasbro managed to have them bond with each other as girlfriends. They already seemed to have a lot of that chemistry feel, and I hope they run with it.
I would too, but Hasbro will never do it. All (two) of the LGBTQ moments in G4 happened in the final season, you know, when the show couldn’t be cancelled prematurely. The best we’re going to get is “Sunny and Izzy: The cutest couple OF BESTIES~!!” energy.
When i first watched the move,they are such that Argyl's ancestores paseed on their inheritance through theri family as they are the descendats of Twilight. The wooden Argl medalion on the neck with the Twilight mark and the colors suggest that they are desccandes of Twilight
Consider Izzy found Sunny's lantern, i would say that is the reason for Izzy acting more like she does because of that letter that was with it. But that is just me thinking out loud.
Something to consider that I hope the show will get into: What happened to the holidays? Do they still talk about the origin of nightmare night? And what is hearths warming? Considering that it’s a holiday that’s origin is based off of the three tribes coming together, how would the holiday’s “Revised“ Origin go?
The Hearth's Warming may be re-enacted with archived videos of the Founding of Equestria. As for the Nightmare Night, i think it's becoming obsolete with Luna being forgotten.

I HAVE TO SAY THIS! what if. Sunnys father is the son of twilight and flash?! First of all, twilight is originally a Unicorn and flash is an earth pony. Including that sunny's father has the same intrest in books as twilight.
Or maybe Izzy is so positive because, in contrary to the other unicorns, she does have a goal in life? She is the one who received Sunny's drawing, about the unicorn, pegasi and earth ponies being friends. Maybe that message is what kept her optimistic all this years
I can see Sunny and Izzy being siblings, their mother, being a unicorn took Izzy back to live with her (same with Sunny and their father) to avoid drawing attention and a possible war between the unicorns and earth ponies. If this theory is right, I'd love to see what happens later on. Now this is a bit of a stretch but they could have been distantly related to Twilight. Though Twilight was born a unicorn, her partner may have been Flash Century or someone entirly different. Twilight and Sunny both share the same curiosity and longing for more when it comes to history of magic (and they both became princesses through friendship)
This almost seems too crazy to be true, but I really like this theory! That would explain why there are no pictures of Sunny’s mother or even a mention of her. Even if it’s not true, I hope they bring up her mom at some point and don’t just blow off everyone’s families like they (almost) did in G4.
You would like to think about that... I would like to add more and do this theory better. I will call this character Moonhealer. What if the reason why we don't see either Argyle or (Sunny's Mother) is because they are involved in a complication in Moonhealer's terrain (let's say what used to be the Crystal Empire). As fate would have it, Moonhealer is the last of his kind, the last living naturally born alicorn. He is also sadly to say, the representative of the last remaining inhabitants of the nonpony races. This kind of information is something both would want to have to learn about the old world. But considering that they may not make it back, they decide to take the risk. That's why we never see their faces in the main story’s events.
Maybe Izzy is Lunas daughter? as the Princesses gave up their ruling of Equestria to Twilight maybe Princess Luna and Celestia lost their wings and became normal Unicorns....

Argyle being Twilight's descendant would make alot of sense both love books and learning there knowledge of friendships between the different ponys could have been through reading her friendship journal and the gem could have also been given to him through family also he had a necklace with Twilight's cutie mark or really close .plus the color scheme is very similar aswell . I had expressed the idea of Sunny's mom being in a different group (Pegasus or Unicorn) in your last video about Argile, so it's not much of a shock. The idea of Sunny following Celestia's hoofprints makes perfect sense (and not just due to the name similarity). She is more outgoing than twilight, despite the purplish hair color and Izzy expressing that her sparkle was lavender. Sunny pushes for the idea of pony unity and the idea of the three groups working together and seems to hold the idea of general group morale/ponies working together. The idea of friendship being the base came from stories about Twilight who was Celestia's student, so yes, Twilight has been put on a pedestal in Sunny's eyes. However, Sunny seems to work through encouraging others (ponies in particular) in a similar way that the idea of Celestia raising the sun brought encouragement to ponies who were scared of things falling apart. Twilight was not as outgoing initially and even had to be pushed at times to take initiative. In a way, she reminds me of the best of Applejack and Celestia combined. Applejack is able to work hard and adjust to some degree as needed. Celestia is able to inspire others, but still show humility/forgiveness (especially towards the end of G4) because she is aware of limits and wants to encourage others to generally do their best/help each other.

You know that’s what I believed too. Perhaps Argyle fell in love with a unicorn or Pegasus but they couldn’t be together because of the whole separation thing. But they end up getting eloped anyways. But they were still forced to separate. And maybe Sunny has a secret brother or sister who was a unicorn or a Pegasus.

Until we see more complete family trees, I'm going to assume color schemes are random, not genetic. That's mostly how it was in G4 (although it became a little more organized in later seasons). Right now, every known parent is single so we can't put anything together yet.
That said, I doubt Sunny and Izzy are related simply because we already have a family dynamic in the Mane 5, that being Zipp and Pipp. Adding another one would probably dilute the whole "friendship" theme.
Not to mention some of the oddly romantic scenes between them in the movie. Like how often it showed them with their muzzles inches apart

This is very interesting that Sunny’s mom could be a unicorn. It would explain why Sunny’s dad is soo interested in equestria’s history. This could also be the reason why he is missing. I mean could he be out there looking for his wife? Whatever the case may be I’m looking forward to the new Netflix series explaining the situation. And I will admit it does remind me of the rebooted DuckTales series when we get to find out what happened to Huey, louie, and Dewey‘s mother Della duck.
What the hell happened to hitches family he leaves Sunny's house with sprout and Phyllis in the film's opening but was apparently allowed to spend more time with sunny than Sprout was which makes you wonder what's going on with his family compared to Argyle and Phyllis is clear hatred of each other
Maybe Hitch is an orphan, but he was adopted by Phyllis, who only cared about raising Sprout and giving him her racism, completely ignoring Hitch, not only because he was her adopted, not biological child, but also because he didn't wanted to listen and appreciate her racism since childhood.
That probably makes Sprout and Hitch adopted siblings, and maybe introduce their hard, but still brotherly and interesting relationship.

Someone on Derpibooru made a Headcanon that Sunny and Argyle are Future Descendants of Starlight Glimmer. A Headcanon I pretty much accepted. And since it is possible Starlight married Sunburst, it's possible thay are descendants of Sunburst too.
My thoughts about it when I first viewed the movie is that Argyle's ancestors were passing down the heritage through their family, because they are Twilight's descendants.
I love the idea of Sunny & Izzy being (secretly) sisters. imagine look on their faces when they find out if that turns out to be the case (If any of the MLP writers who are working on the series is watching this, even if it's not exactly the plan initially, maybe they could perhaps consider the idea). :)
Not so ludicrous if you're open-minded like Argyle. Intriguing if Sunny learns about her family. It would be a plot twist if Izzy were related to Sunny. Big coincidence for Izzy to find Sunny's invitation to meet her. Sunny and Izzy as Celestia and Luna is an interesting yet far fetched theory, because they do not have the power to move the sun or moon (not yet at any rate).
I think that since Twilight gave up her alicornness for her citizens, she appeared as an Earth pony, being accepted by their village. Living in the village and is not immortal she may have started a family. So she passed down her story from generation to generation, until it reached Sunny. Maybe Sunny's mom wasn't a unicorn but she had an ancestor who was.
I actually really like this idea. It actually already reminds me of a fanfic where Izzy was actually born in Zephyr Heights and the Queen, while still a Princess, had to take her to the Unicorn Forest so she could have a normal life. Now I'm kinda hoping that some form of this idea will be touched on in the series, even if it doesn't involve Sunny directly.

The premise is that any non-matching foals are to be treated as dead and be instead sent to their matching race's home instead due to an ancient pact. I can totally see it! I really want it to be canon! Imagine, Argyle searching and exploring the world for answers of the past. While discovering his findings, he stumbles upon a unicorn. They’re skittish at first towards each other but maybe through days and nights of conversation because they were just so darn curious of each other, they get comfortable. Talking about things they have in common, Argyles findings, and the Equestrian past, they eventually develop feelings for one another. They have a life together away from both the earth and unicorn ponies because they knew none of them would accept their relationship. Time past and they have two fillies, Sunny, and Izzy. An earth pony and a unicorn. They try to raise their infant ponies but come to a realization that, they can’t isolate their fillies from society forever. However, at the same time, they can’t raise the fillies together in society because of the propaganda. So with tough consideration, they choose to raise Sunny and Izzy separately with their respective breeds. This might be going a little too far but I would personally love thisz
You just described the theory I came up with myself the second Sunday after the movie was released! I wondered myself how Argyle's color scheme matches up with Izzy with none of it shared by Izzy. I didn't want to share this theory with anyone in case it turned out to be true and potentially spoil a Star Wars-esque plot twist. If Sunny and Izzy are unbeknownst to themselves sisters born from Argyle and an unnamed unicorn, could they also BOTH become the new royal sisters of Equestria who respectively raise and lower the sun and moon like Celestia and Luna did once the magical properties of the world are fully restored?
This idea would be wonderful for the show,which is probably why won't get it :( it would make an interesting dynamic, especially the idea of Izzy and Sunny ending up as sisters. I suggested in response to a fan fic based on the idea of looking for Sunny's mom of "What if her mother is an Alicorn?" Which would be similarly interesting. Her nothing haveing to leave Sunny and Argyle behind so Sunny could have a "Normal" Childhood. The idea that Sunny and Izzy are sisters would be similar, the two parents each taking one child because there was no settledment where they could all be accepted. We shall see, I just very much am hoping the other races are covered. What happened to dragons? With out magic how did changelings adapt? What about Hippogriffs/Seaponies did thier civilization split and now they don't even remember they are the same species?
I don't know how to feel about this, I mean I do ship Sunny and Izzy. And my personal theory is that in the series, Sunny will develop some negative traits, that are easily resolved by friendship, some traits she inherited from her mom, who can easily be a villain. But that's just my stupid theory :)
If that were it be possible wouldn't the creators have had Izzy (after realizing Sunny sent that message) not only realize Sunny was the one who sent that message but also realize that Sunny and her are sisters of some sort? But either way it would be nice to have that be both a meet of the g5 main 5 and family reunion.

Can we just appreciate the fact that we live in times when writing story about star-crossed magical ponies sounds like a really cool idea?
When I heard you suggesting that idea, it started the wheels turning. And yes... I suppose that would make a lot of sense! Especially when proposed that Sunny's mom (and any unicorn siblings) would obviously need to leave town to escape persecution... or the reverse, if Sunny and Argyle moved there from the unicorn forest. The only plot hole I could think of would be how Sunny and her father never talk about her mom, even in the privacy of their home. But that could've been simply a means of quelling any conflict or persecution from the other citizens of Maritime Bay. Or maybe (for our own suspense) we simply didn't observe those moments.
It could be that Argyle was worried that Sunny would tell everyone in a misguided attempt at convincing everyone that the three tribes are meant to be friends, he might've planned to tell her when she was older but died/vanished before he could. It could also be why he never told anyone about magic being gone if it ever came up, the plan could've been to find the crystals and restore magic as a peace offering.
Well, Argyle's CutieMark happens to have Twilight's star in it. If you get your CutieMark by being talented/passionate/knowledgeable about a specific topic then it's pretty easy to believe that someone educated Argyle on the past, or he taught himself which tells me that knowledge of the Mane 6 is still available; if not entirely left to lore.
Yeah I also have interesting theories about specific characters, first I kinda liked the background pony “beatnik unicorn” but in time it went on I have thought on many theories about this characters and the ponies she maybe descendant from.

Personally I think it’s more likely that Izzy or Sunny could be distant relatives of the CMC Sunny could be related to scootaloo, they both share a color scheme and some personality traits, such as their skill to adapt to new situations and their determination. Izzy, could be a relative to sweetybelle. She is very good at crafts, just like Sweetybelle and Rarity, and has a bubbly personality like sweetybelle. Personally I think that Hitch might be a distant relative to the apple family, maybe a descendent from the apples from mane batten or appleusa. He is the sheriff of the town and has great leadership skills just like applejack. Zipp and Pipp, I believe they are descended from Princess Cadence the Pegasus royal family share a color scheme with Cadence, Shining Armor, and Flurry Heart. Not only that, but Cadence was originally a Pegasus, it’s possible that after a while, her blood lien changes back from Alicorn the Pegasus
I think that if her mother was a unicorn that would undermine her character, making her the game changer because she was born to it and not because she - like anypony else could - had a different view. And making her and her dad just two earth ponies from long line of earth ponies, but learning and developing different believes than the rest of their race because they DECIDED to open their hearts have more power. And Sunny is the protagonist not Argyle so him just beeing in the mixed relationship would not have any weight on that idea right now.

More than likely, Sunny and Izzy's motivations and ardor was inherited from an actual parents, but Izzy's remains foreign, and I slightly skeptical that Celestia and Luna would ever bequeath there corporal configurations, and then be resurrected as a cosmetic pony or unicorn.
As much as my hypothetical principle and notion is plausible, I'm still gonna wait, not gonna get my aspirations up merely yet, and I'm gonna inevitably be patient, like I frequently am, and wait till the alternation of spring to implement.
Then, merely then, I'd like to empirically see some expositional context, embedded in the upcoming series, itself, (which you can say, it's practical and pretty crucial too).
Their are also other known unicorns with similar coloring of sunny, like Sunset shimmer

I had the same theory about Sunny's mother. And having Izzy as a plot-twist sister to Sunny as farfetched as it would be would be mind-blowing. But then again, Izzy was told of the prejudice's. But based on how well she was taking the 'hospitality' of Maritime bay (Which makes me perceive her as a loving puppy) she may have just had the same curiosities as Sunny and didn't believe the conspiracy theories or propaganda but kept them in mind for inquiry. They could be fraternal twins for all we know. That would be two sets in the main cast.
Something my little sister tried to make me think of was Argyle being a unicorn. She saw his mane and thought that his mane was hiding his horn. I find the thought of Sunny's mom being a unicorn but listening to this video made me think of what my little sister keeps on telling me.

This is some Sawtooth Waves-level headcanoning. Take that as you will.
I was skeptical when i first saw the video title, but with that reasoning, yeah. Surprisingly it does fit some element of logic. But then can we really asign color schemes to parents.
Let's look at the other parents we do know about, Zipp and Pipp and Queen Haven. While Pipp follows her mother's color scheme, Zipp has little to no relation to her mother's colors.
Sprout and Phyllis. Sprout shares his mother's hair color but not her skin color, so he presumably is half his mum and half his dad.
I am not going to speculate who anyone else's father might be. But if Sunny and Izzy are related, they very well could be sisters or twins separated at birth. (I don't think G4 tackled long-lost siblings.) Even if they are not directly related, they could still be cousins. Or maybe their parents were friends, but just never had children, but brought their daughters up with knowledge of knowing one another. (feels like the secondary plot of FF8)
I think this theory has merit, and it has the potential to go somewhere, especially since the 2 get along so well, more than any other duo in g5. But for the writers to be bold enough to tackle this subject? I don't think they'd have the courage to do it.
Further on the sibling theory, Sunny was the only one who jumped in and got Izzy's song "fit right in" and was almost singing along with her while the others were struggling to keep up.
On the flip side, Sunny's song "Gonna Be My Day", I don't think that it's a big stretch to imagine Izzy singing that song or her own very close variation.
Conversely compare "I’m Lookin’ Out for You" with "Lotta Little things" two songs which are counters if Sunny and Izzy are sisters compared to Celestia and Luna. Maybe there is an element of foreshadowing or explaining deeper meaning with both songs. One near the end of G4 and the other at the very beginning of G5.
Now there's an interesting idea. And now I can't help but think of a Parent Trap style scenario. Siblings separated at an early age only to reunite in the future and try to get their parents back together. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us! ^_^
I wonder if there's ever been a case in the time period of MLP G5 where a foal of one pony race was born to parents of a different type. After all, it's been shown in MLP G4 that pony offspring can be the same type as one, both, or neither of their parents. Just look at the Cake twins and Scootaloo. It really makes me wonder about pony genetics.

I like to believe that Argyle was born to unicorn parents, but no horn. So his parents sent him off to maritime bay. But his mom left him some sort of unicorn pendant or something. So when he got older, he wanted to look for his parents, find out where he was from. Which would explain his obsession with artifacts as he knew he was more than just an earth pony.
I think this theory is possible, especially since we never saw the mother, and we know pony races cross bread and sometimes don't express certain genetics they have hidden in them like genetics with recessive traits in our world, and I also think it's possible Sunny's father could be related to a member of the Mane 6. Maybe Twilight.
I like this theory a lot and does flesh out the characters more.

I think Argyle and Sunny are descendants of Twilight.
It makes sense in a way, the idea that at one point there was unicorn lineage in their family, mixing in the ideas of unicorns, except Argyle is the love child of a past unicorn. If you look at his color scheme, you begin to see how his color scheme is similar to Twilight's. He has purple hair with pink stripes, purple skin, and purple eyes all like Twilight. This theory also explains the fact of how Argyle knows so much about Twilight and her friends past. It could've been passed down by his family, and it would make sense that Twilight if had a family she would want the lessons of friendship to be passed down so they wouldn't be forgotten. I mean he knows so much about magic and the past, maybe he was taught some of that, and explored the rest. It would be fitting that the unicorn that became an alicorn would have a descendant who would bring back friendship and magic by becoming an alicorn.
It's a bit of a long shot, but it's an interesting idea nonetheless.

I wonder if Twilight was Sunny’s mother since she is so much like Twilight and maybe because she was ruling Equestria and she couldn’t look after Sunny and asked Argyle who may have been a close friend of hers or maybe even lover and when she gave birth to the foal she asked him to raise the foal. Just a thought.
So depending on the timespread between G4 and G5, my theory is that Luster Dawn could be Sunny's mom. Have you noticed that Sunny's colors are Luster Dawn's colors, but inversed? At some point Luster Dawn must have become Princess, met Argyle, had Sunny, and then went into hiding after the three races separated. This may also explain why Sunny was able to manifest Alicorn powers through the three jewels. Her wings and horn are very lustrous after all.
While I understand the interest, I would actually much prefer if instead of being related, Hasbro managed to have them bond with each other as girlfriends. They already seemed to have a lot of that chemistry feel, and I hope they run with it.
I would too, but Hasbro will never do it. All (two) of the LGBTQ moments in G4 happened in the final season, you know, when the show couldn’t be cancelled prematurely. The best we’re going to get is “Sunny and Izzy: The cutest couple OF BESTIES~!!” energy.

When i first watched the move,they are such that Argyl's ancestores paseed on their inheritance through theri family as they are the descendats of Twilight. The wooden Argl medalion on the neck with the Twilight mark and the colors suggest that they are desccandes of Twilight
Consider Izzy found Sunny's lantern, i would say that is the reason for Izzy acting more like she does because of that letter that was with it.

That would make Izzy and Sunny fraternal twins. They're at similar enough ages.
I can see Sunny and Izzy being siblings, their mother, being a unicorn took Izzy back to live with her (same with Sunny and their father) to avoid drawing attention and a possible war between the unicorns and earth ponies. If this theory is right, I'd love to see what happens later on.
Now this is a bit of a stretch but they could have been distantly related to Twilight. Though Twilight was born a unicorn, her partner may have been Flash Century or someone entirly different. Twilight and Sunny both share the same curiosity and longing for more when it comes to history of magic (and they both became princesses through friendship)

This almost seems too crazy to be true, but I really like this theory! That would explain why there are no pictures of Sunny’s mother or even a mention of her. Even if it’s not true, I hope they bring up her mom at some point and don’t just blow off everyone’s families like they (almost) did in G4.

You would like to think about that... I would like to add more and do this theory better. I will call this character Moonhealer. What if the reason why we don't see either Argyle or (Sunny's Mother) is because they are involved in a complication in Moonhealer's terrain (let's say what used to be the Crystal Empire). As fate would have it, Moonhealer is the last of his kind, the last living naturally born alicorn. He is also sadly to say, the representative of the last remaining inhabitants of the nonpony races. This kind of information is something both would want to have to learn about the old world. But considering that they may not make it back, they decide to take the risk. That's why we never see their faces in the main story’s events.

Maybe Izzy is Lunas daughter? as the Princesses gave up their ruling of Equestria to Twilight maybe Princess Luna and Celestia lost their wings and became normal Unicorns....
I feel like Izzy kept her cheer because of the note she found that said she had friends in maretime bay. Knowing that w as s an earth pony city she would be naturally excited to hear that some earth ponies might be friends. But I do love the idea and it makes sense!
Unless the cake twins was a joke. What happens if two unicorns birth an earth pony? Do they send it away?
