    I just recently got an umbilical hernia lifting weights at the gym. Seeing that I’m not the type of person to just throw in the towel, I purchased a hernia belt. I wore it to the gym yesterday and I must say it worked wonderfully. I did read a post here about fasting. This makes total sense! I practice intermittent fasting 16/8 and have noticed a big difference in bowel pressure on the day or two that I don’t fast during the week. I’ll most likely ( eventually ) have surgery ( heading to Mexico for the summer ) but I’m not too worried about my hernia at the moment as there is no pain, discomfort, or discoloration. We’ll see after surfing every day for 6 weeks… that’ll be the true test 🏄🏼‍♂️🎣👋🏻

      @@boredfive3001 Firstly, I love Mexico ( and speak Spanish ) and have traveled extensively throughout the country for decades. Secondly, the surfing and saltwater fishing is incredible ( much better than the States ) and the consistency of the surf allows my wife , daughter, and I to surf every day! Plus, it’s not expensive.., The way we do Mexico for 6 weeks costs the same as 1 week in Hawaii or less! Finally, we have Xpat and Mexican friends that we hang out with, and, our daughter has a small group of girlfriends that she loves and can’t wait to see every year! Cheers 🍻

    So, I get that a hernia is not able to be restored to normal or "healed" naturally, but do doctors like yourself do any research on these natural methods of reducing hernias? I've done a decent amount. Mine is inguinal. There are so many examples where people have followed a natural treatment path for inguinal hernias that have reduced their symptoms completely. Like ten plus years with the hernia staying reduced within the abdomen.
    So what is this? Could you explain? Every health expert I watch just says it can't be healed, no amount of abdominal exercise will change the defect in the abdominal wall. Okay, but can we address the elephant in the room? It's not like all of these people are lying. It may not be healed, but they don't have symptoms. That would be pretty nice for a lot of people suffering.

    Great video. I certainly understand my options better. I feel like I have several incisional hernias but one is larger and more pronounced with size and pain for me. I would like for the surgeon to take care of all at once. Will they be able to find all of them even if I am of the location or how many I may have? The largest one is very painful so it masks the others' pain although I can tell that there are more than the one.
    Also, I do want to start working out my abdomen after surgery too. Should I continue to take it easy on the abdomen and not exercise it once the surgery is over or will it be stronger post surgery?

    Mine had turned purple/blue when I lost weight (60Lbs, down to 182 Lbs). But then I had total hip replacement, so I wasn’t as active as I was when I lost weight. After that, I gained 95 Lbs! So my hernia was not purple/blue any longer.

      I had an inguinal hernia repaired about ten years ago; it's held up fine. It's not just the mesh patch that seals the opening, it's the SCAR TISSUE that forms in and around the patch. That's why it's a mesh and not a solid sheet. The sutures or staples, which are absorbed over time, are there to hold the patch in place until the scar tissue forms. That's why it's important not to engage in strenuous activity too soon after surgery; you don't want that patch moving around while it's trying to heal.

      in regards to an inguinal hernia, it cannot heal itself due to the portion of intestine constantly resting in the inguinal canal. When the intestine bursts through the abdominal wall, the tear cannot heal itself with the intestine constantly pushing through. Take a nail for example, if you step on a nail, it will never heal if you leave it in. The tissue will not be allowed to grow back together while the nail is still stuck in your foot. Once the nail is removed the skin grows back together. Same with the intestine being stuck through the abdominal tear, as long as the intestine is stuck through the abdominal tear, the tear will not be allowed to heal itself

Make a pocket on the belt so that you can fit that cushion. Flat part will be facing your hernia. You will also need elastic smaller strap with velcro on both ends. When you are on your back in the bed and your hernya is pushed in, only then put the belt whille you sfe still in the bed. Tighten the belt around your waist very good. The hard cushion must cover your hernya adjust the height of the belt to center it over the hernya. Then put the other strap perpendicular to your belt right over the cushion and go under between your legs and tighten the other end on the back of your belt. I used to wear regular underwear plus boxer underwear over the regular so that the strap does not iritate me between the legs. The idea is to have it really tight. Wear it all day every day for 2 mts straight only in bed you can take it off. It will help if you can loose some weight. I am 6'5" 265 I lost 25lb and at 240lb hernya did not move into my right testicle. I had the inguinal type hernya. By using thst belt as I mentioned above I did it. For those complaining about the title, it says "treating," not "curing." You can treat anything without necessarily curing it. I treated my hernia with a truss, and not standing for extended periods, before I finally got surgery. For my osteoarthritis in the hips, I treated it with heat, neoprene wraps and aspirin, before finally getting my hips replaced. Also, keep in mind that if a TH-cam title is something like: "Can you CURE. . .without surgery?" the answer will almost always be NO.

    There are exercises that will grow the muscles and essentially you can't have two things in the same exact space and the exercises would be ones that would not squeeze the internal organs but would still work the muscles such as bridging in yoga. They're also supplements such as creatine that will cause the muscles to swell and you could use devices to hold the hernia if you wanted to do more of the traditional exercises so you would have pressure on the outside which would balance out the pressure on the inside😅

I have restored strength using EMS "electrical muscle stimulation" then I wear the belt even though I can hold it in now and it only moves in certain positions. The muscles to get them to grow you have to really break them down, so I don't want to worsen it.
      I also found a research paper in sleeping head down at 20 degrees to move hernia back into the body and away from the injury that way it can heal during the night but it requires sleep on my back.
      Sorry I just saw your reply because someone liked the post.

    • @gsc512
      @gsc512 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@johnpaulmoreno7164 creatine causes water retention in muscles so it swells them and also allows them to not get so sore from use. I find this handy because I try to make sure that I'm contracting the muscle as much as possible throughout the day to hold back the hernia and now it's just about gone. But I started with EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) because in most of the surgical videos you can tell that the muscle is completely atrophied.
      With contracting the muscle to build strength and having it swell it just helps to keep the hernia inside where it's supposed to be and it allows for the muscle to get stronger while not trying to get stronger around a blockage causing deformation. After a while you'll actually see the indentation on the muscle when it comes back in and you'll see it start feeling it.
      The belt I use because of muscle fatigue and reminder to contract the muscle.
      It's not everything but should be everything about why creatine.

    • @gsc512
      @gsc512 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@thesedreamsarefree so does surgery, it cuts it. Most surgery videos show atrophied muscles. And the muscles down there are just like any of the other muscles. If you never take the strain off of it, it will never heal. Whatever we know how to take the strain off it and that is to sleep in the head down position about 20°. Then during the daytime you support it with compression and you also add work in the muscle out. That area of the body is not as simple as just one single muscle that's been torn. It's an overlapping bit of muscle. So yes, if you build them up enough all three or four the intersect in that same area. Plus you train the pelvic floor. There's a good chance that it'll be just a strong as it ever was and the longer you maintain it in good order. They're stronger. It should get because that other area with fasting will shrink and go away as its material the body no longer needs. But if you cut it, there's a chance that you could have problems with malfunctionality. And also you never actually fix the original problem. You only put a band-aid over it. Look at the surgery videos and look at the atrophy in the muscle. There's no shape to it at all. When you're a teen right below your penis, you have a little almost hump that moves up into your abs it forms. I can arrow from your abs pointing at your penis if you're in good shape. Most don't have that when they get older. It's completely flat like a female except men don't have a round tendon there.
      Even with the mesh without reinforcing the area by rebuilding it because two things can't occupy the space at one time. So you can either have muscle or you can have a hernia. You can't have both and none of the videos that I saw or any of the surgical presentations. Were any of the muscles in good shape even in trained athletes
      And if you go to surgical route, just know you should read the complications list and look at the amount of rework that's necessary because the first surgery wasn't successful even with hernia mesh. There are men that are permanently flawed because of the hernia mesh
      I bet you there would be a direct correlation between a faulty pelvic floor and male prostate gland problems and bladder problems so you can put a band-aid over it or you can fix it. However, a tear will heal better than a surgical cut. It's completely up to you.

Reverse gravity when possible with an inversion table or slant board and follow the recommended exercises as can be found on line and in videos.

    Yes, I do have a comment for those unwilling to put themselves on a surgery table. On my eighth year of left inguinal hernia, after briefly making all possible mistakes - short of irritating the spot - I discovered that choice of the appropriate underwear may be key. Briefly: use of two or three spandex men-thongs worn on top of each other has the effect of providing an outer flexible “wall” for the bulge, allowing for non-excessive bowel “leakage”, and avoidance of pressure on the bowel, keeping the incident always in check. Further, I suspect that, for those who recently developed hernia, the above setup (if carefully attended) may help heal the opening, while the “wound” remains fresh.

      @APHS-B ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Paddy_King_Uganda Hello. I am far from an expert, to medically advise you. Personally, though, I can tell you that if you very recently got inguinal hernia and the muscle tear has not yet healed, you might try to: 1) not ever press the bulge violently, 2) very carefully re-insert the bulge in the abdominal cavity, while lying down [just cap it with your hand, and it inserts itself], 3) wear three medium-tight spandex thongs (your size or one smaller) on top of each other, while lying down, always keeping the bulge within the abdominal cavity, and only then stand up, 4) avoid if possible any violent coughing, sneezing etc, or do so while sitting down, 5) try to urinate while holding the tear closed with your hand, or do not press it if it bulges, and recover it afterwards, while lying down. The goal is to keep the bulge inside for a 15-day period. It is possible that your tear may heal, keeping the bulge in. However, even so, you will always need to be careful for a long period of more than a year to not carry heavy weights, and let it get strong. After that you may start light half sit-ups, gradually increasing intensity, to see if the muscle gets stronger, and allows you to return to normal use. Always try not to press hard. Avoid getting into fights. You have my best wishes for recovery.

I have seen multiple people with that issue. Of course, many people have great success! Also, depending on your lifestyle, it may not be something that bothers you enough to get a surgery as every time you get even a basic surgery there is a risk of complications. but yeah, generally, get it done if you can and have the access there
