Cruz will just be remembered as the convicted murderer who dodged the death penalty and will always be remembered as being one of the true scums of the earth. He said that he did not know any of the other victim's family members. They now know each other and support each other and are working to prevent things like this from happening. This man is amazing, not just speaking on behalf of himself but on behalf of ALL the victim's families. He gathered their strength together into his body and let it flow from his mouth. He made a statement as a father individually and also made it known that this was an event that affected dozens of people and that he was not the only one in that courtroom who had suffered for almost 5 years waiting for justice. God bless this man! God bless his wife! God bless these fallen people's families! There are still good people in this world! As a 30-year trial attorney I can say with confidence that for those defense lawyers this was their worst nightmare, being chewed out by a grieving father, with his saddened wife standing and staring too. The defense lawyers will never forget these days (and probably considering a new law specialty, so s/he never has to face this again).
I especially enjoyed watching them squirm, keep their composure, trying to hide by looking away; alas there was nothing they could do except look at the speaker. That was a wise move, lest they risk the bereaved SCREAMING "can't you look at me when I'm talking, can't you show my murdered daughter just a little respect. Just fake it you scumbag!"
To avoid that trauma, at 6:48 we see them all shutting up and keep eye contact with the father. (That's hard to do, especially while on worldwide TV the bereaved is telling the universe you guys are the biggest assholes in it, and that in a nutshell you're all pieces of 💩.)

@@janetmurphy7053 in some respects I agree with you. I kept thinking of the judge who presided over the Ahmad Aubrey case. Night and day.
This judge was an embarrassment. She could have stepped in during the most personal attacks. But the parents were just “doing their jobs” for their lost child and their families.
They are entitled by law to speak. So she let them speak.
Just as jurors knew what they were taking on, so were ALL attorneys. Suck it buttercup.
They could have objected but they didn’t. Maybe because they realized they went overboard defending a confessed murderer and the families called them out.
They was not a trial to prove guilt but to decide punishment. And he escaped just punishment.
