      Pedro was my dad's favorite actor/singer. He would sing his songs all the time. My dad also didn't know how well he sang, somewhere between Pedro and Jorge Negrete. He had his problems but he always tried his best with us, and he was such a jokester too. He passed away from Early Onset Alzheimer's, probably from his years of drinking. Listening to Pedro sing now and thinking abt my dad has opened up the waterworks for real. Thanks for sharing!

      Would also love seeing reacts to Linda Ronstadt-her music makes her a time traveler, with songs ranging from the late 19th century all the way up to the early 21st century in her catalog. You could literally do "100 years of Linda Ronstadt", no exaggeration. 😆

    Yes!! Pedro Infante one of Mexicio favorite singers is also one of my favorites. The song you chose "Cien Anos" is a beautiful song . And remembered for years because of the sentiment or feeling he put into it. Another song he sang which is completly a different style is a song called "Enamorada" There he sings with a different type of band not mariachi but more orrchesta. But what impressed about his adpting to "this style" is that it's so different then the typical Ranchera (Mexican Bluse") which he's known for singing as well as Boleros like Cien Anos style. Anyway I love your site..first one I saw was the one with Juan Gabliel (Hasta que te consco) I hope you check out Pedero Infantes Enamorada..my favavorite version is the one recorded from the movie "A toda maquina "

    Pedro Infante is my dads favorite singer
    To this day in Mexico there is a tradition that guys hire mariachis or trios to serenade their ladies
    From what my parents have told me Pedro Infante came from the poor side of society while while Jorge Negrete came from rich part and the story you told about him shows the humility Pedro Infante had and this is why the people of Mexico loved him

    Oh my goodness woman, you've outdone yourself. You know the villain in the Pixar/Disney Coco movie is based on Pedro Infante. I love the scene in the celebrity party, where on multiple screens different characters of his movies are being play.

    • @TheMotherofTacos

      That's the one thing I hate about Coco because Pedro Infante was a genuinely good guy.

    • @samgarcia4597
      @samgarcia4597 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheMotherofTacos I actually consider the character as a kindhearted tribute to Pedro Infante, because the story is based on folklore and it's a children's story. Infante even portrayed villains in his movies, so cinema is the context here. The character Ernesto de la Cruz bears Pedro's maternal surname as well and other cool "Easter eggs" can be appreciated. One would hope younger generations can discover the greatness of this icon as I did as a child during the early eighties. Pedro Infante is timeless.

    Pedro Infante is indeed one of the big idols of Mexican ranchera music. Yet vocally he was quite regular - he just had an extreme charm and was a man of the town. The public adored his "guy next door" attitude. If you want to truly hear absolutely wonderful vocals of the same genre you should listen to Javier Solis. THAT was a singer ;)

    The real connection comes from the lyrics. If you could understand spanish you could understand the real meaning of his songs and why people like him so much. Spanish is so beautiful as there're very interesting ways of explains things. Unfortunately there are things that would only make sense in spanish and if you were to translate it it wouldn't be the same. Greetings from Mexico thanks for sharing a bit of our culture :)
