Great reaction. At that time José José didn't have his voice at 100 %. However, he still maintained his interpretation, in which he was undoubtedly a genius. I hope you can react to José José singing Amor Amor.
I love how you interpret the tone of the voice because without trying to understand the lyrics, you are completely correct in your comments. If you understood you would like it much more. As for the artist, José José is among the greatest Spanish-speaking artists, he was spectacular.
He has a line in this song that hits so hard, he describes in detail a passionate experience and then compares it to a lonely moment when he wakes up and the one he loves is not next to him, just a pillow.
His father was an Opera singer and his mom a concert pianists, even though Jose was a Crooner you can hear his classic training in his singing, great reaction Beth. José José shaped my romantic teen years.
Jose Jose is my favorite Mexican singer. My absolute favorite song of his is Si Me Dejas Ahora. Please do that song. It’s beautiful. Also, Amar y Querer, and Gavilan o Paloma.
Omg, Jose Jose! I remember my parents listening to him and others like Camilo Sesto, Sandro, amongst other greats of Spanish music of that time; so nostalgic! I think in the same vein of singers that convey emotion through the language barrier Gackt made me feel the same way with his song Seki-ray. Its so dramatic and full of emotion that even though I didnt understand the lyrics when I heard it the first time, he's a Japanese singer, I did feel a lot of things and so much melancholy. I think you'd like it too 😊
I thought it would be nice to leave the translated lyrics for those of you who could be interested in also knowing what he's saying for a more complete experience. PILLOW - JOSÉ JOSÉ There are no two loves Like ours in life However much it's searched, However much it's hidden You sleep with me Every single night You remain silent And utter no complaint That's why I care for you That's why I adore you You are, to my life, My entire treasure I sometimes come home Drunk in anguish, Cover you in prude Kisses and caresses But you're asleep, You don't feel my touch I hold you to my chest, Go to sleep with you Alas, when I wake up You're not there with me There's only my pillow I sometimes look at you, All silent and absent And I suffer in silence As so many others I'd like to scream For you to come back to me That if I still live, It's merely to love you But everything fades Now my suffering Just like words Is dragged by the wind That's why I come home, Drunk in anguish I cover you in prude Kisses and caresses But you're asleep You don't feel my touch I hold you to my chest, Go to sleep with you Alas, when I wake up You're not there with me There's only my pillow
That’s an absolutely clean translation. 😍 May I ask what is it you credit it to? I wish I could do it just as impeccably and emotionally accurately as you do one day.
Jose Jose is and will be the best interpreter of the ballad in Mexico. This song, “Almohada” is the most famous song and the one I like the most. He had a great vocal ability and great breathing to achieve prolonged notes, unfortunately due to alcoholism, he had many problems throughout his career and it affected his voice as we can see in this video. Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽!
A truly wonderful Mexican singer, among many, is Natalie Lafourcade. She is a young woman who has had a number of hits on the Latin charts in recent years - very highly recommended for the quality of her voice. And yes, I love Jose Jose too.
Jose Jose is my favorite Mexican crooner, known as The Prince of the Song. Few to none can match his delivery in terms of phrasing, emotional depth and delivery, imv. In 1971, he had a crossover hit in the USA called "La Nave del Olvido." "Almohada" (i.e. "Pillow") is about the pain and loss of a love which the empty pillow next to him reminds him of. A very sad song indeed.
José José is the Prince of the song/singers, he has many romantics songs like that one, he is one of the best singers of México, is my favorite mexican singer, You must listen: Adiós princesa, Preso, la nave del olvido, amar y querer, gavilán o paloma, ya lo pasado pasado, he renunciado a ti, and the iconic "el triste" especially from the OTI festival, and you are a lovely lady.
Great reaction and analysis. Thanks for the tip about moving your lips forward, I'll have to keep that in mind. I listen to a handful of artists who perform in other languages. I find it freeing to shut down the part of my brain that analyses lyrics and just enjoy the voice as an instrument. As far as Mexican singers go, I recommend Marcela Bovio. Especially, her earlier work with the band Elfonoia. Btw, I really got a kick out of your animated logo popping up over his face, just as you were saying 'who is this handsome man behind me'. Nicely done. LOL
felicidades por tu reaccion...nunca te habia visto asi de feliz!!!!! tuviste un orgasmo auditivo!!!!! jajajaja.... la verdad Jose Jose es increible.... gracias y q bueno q lo conoces ahora!!!!!!
José José have been one of my favorites artists since i was very young, i believe that i knew most of his work, but a couple of months ago, a friend showed me these songs that no doubt are a precious stone from his carrier, "El Solitario (insane dynamic), "Condenado", "Gotas de fuego" and "lo que quedó de mi", those were not singles, so is very difficult to find a live version, but you will love them! Grat work! keep doing awesome stuff !
I don't know if it was already mentioned, but his father was an opera singer, even thó he recognize not having the same voice his father had, he went through his career following that operatic style of singing of his father
My favorite from José José: "Será"... not "seré" which also is great, but "será" is a pice of art... Also José José has nice covers like "él (him)", "te quiero tal como eres (I love you like the way you are)" or "Sentimientos (feelings)"... I hope you can listen it... Greetings from México...
Almohada means pillow. And it's probably the world's greatest song because it's a dedication to our best friend, the pillow. I hug it before bed and after waking up.
Great vid! 😊How about reacting to more José José singing LIVE? Although there aren't many vids of him singing live unfortunately. Anyways, these are my suggestions (which you can find here in TH-cam): - José José Tu Mi Delirio En Vivo 1973 - Jose Jose - Amor Amor (video uploaded by "Conny") - José José Del Altar a la Tumba En Vivo en el Patio 1970 - Te extraño (José José & Armando Manzanero) - José José La Nave del Olvido En Vivo 1970 - José José Sabrás Que te Quiero En Vivo 1975 (video uploaded by "Principe Boveda") Here are also some of his covers of popular american songs: - JOSE JOSE - Dejame Conocerte -(1974)- en vivo - Jose Jose-En Vivo-1982-New York New York Keep up the good work! 🙌Regards from Lima, Peru 🇵🇪😄

My favorite songs from Jose Jose: de el altar a la tumba, si me dejas ahora, pero lo dudo, dos, buenos dias amor, vive, gotas de fuego, tus ojos, ya lo pasado pasado, quemame los ojos, preso, insaciable amante, lo que un dia fue no sera, la nave del olvido, cuidado, el mundo, contigo a la distancia.
Hello, Beth, great reaction to our prince of the song, thanks a lot!! The list is very long, but I will write just a few...are you ready? The songs are: Volcán, El Amar y el querer, Tu primera vez, Amor amor, Vamos a darnos tiempo, Mientras llueve, Lo que no fue no será, Gavilán o Paloma, Si me dejas ahora, La nave del olvido, Mi niña...grettings from Mx!!
There are musicians who are good at singing, but there are the ones who carry a musical instrument on their vocal chords, in instrument that requires lots of practice, tuning, developing the right timber, breath control, expresive range, color, and maintenance. People did not assisted to his concerts to hear songs, they did it to have the pleasure and privilege to hear his voice.
This guys are not from México but they are from Chile. Los Angeles Negros. Check out the song "Y Volvere" the singer is wearing a glitter yellow suit and you'll love this band for sure, guaranteed!
You should do "El Triste" (the sad one) ...it is his most prolific and famous song due to it being the one that crowned him as "The prince of song" ...oh wait you did already....I'll go watch it right now....lol😂🤣
Watching Jose Jose perform "El Triste" was an amazing experience for me. I would love to see your reaction to that. He literally had some of the biggest names in Mexican music at that time with their jaws dropped in the audience.
A lot of this song is lost on you if you don’t know the meaning: Here are the lyrics to the chorus: “Sometimes I return drunk with anguish. I shower you with kisses and wilted affection. But you’re sleeping, so you won’t feel any of it. I hold you to my chest. Fall asleep beside you. But later I’ll wake up and you won’t be there. There will only be my pillow”

I can't recommend the bolero glam band ' daniel, me estas matando' enough. For a genre that doesn't get much love these days, their songs are definitely a treat. A few favorites are "somos algo", "fugate", "ya no es lo mismo", and of course "diez pasos hacia ti".
Jose Jose - La nave del olvido. Emmanuel - Tu y yo (You and I ); Todo se derrumbo (Everythig collapsed ), el rey azul (the blue king) , el dia que puedas (When you can the day). Quiero dormir cansado (I want to sleep tired)
my favorite song from jose jose is called el triste (the sad one). my favorite mexico singer is jorge negrete, i like his song yo soy mexicano (i am mexicano).
Would be really cool to see you react to the vocalist of the band Hail the Sun. Hard to pick a song though, they have so many good ones. But one of my favorites is Glass:Half Empty
Hi! Amazing singer so good! This music will never die!👍Another amazing singer you needs reacts to is, Sissel Kyrkjebo & Plácido Domingo - Fire in your heart.❤

Jose Jose has many songs that one can enjoy, for example, Pero te extrano, La nave del olvido, Desesperado, I recommend that you should react to Natalia Jiménez and Lila Downs - La Cigarra
Great reaction. At that time José José didn't have his voice at 100 %. However, he still maintained his interpretation, in which he was undoubtedly a genius. I hope you can react to José José singing Amor Amor.

I think you'd like it too 😊
1976 he lost almost one lung and severe damage on other lung after this time he put soul, Life and courage in every song!!!
24 años tenía.
Jose Jose totally iconic. I grew up hearing him and still to this day I hear all his music..Gracias por habernos dejado música tan Bella y artística…
I would say one of his best songs was "Lo Dudo." This song was heard everywhere in New York City.Take care Beth, you do a wonderful job.
I thought it would be nice to leave the translated lyrics for those of you who could be interested in also knowing what he's saying for a more complete experience.
PILLOW - JOSÉ JOSÉ
There are no two loves
Like ours in life
However much it's searched,
However much it's hidden
You sleep with me
Every single night
You remain silent
And utter no complaint
That's why I care for you
That's why I adore you
You are, to my life,
My entire treasure
I sometimes come home
Drunk in anguish,
Cover you in prude
Kisses and caresses
But you're asleep,
You don't feel my touch
I hold you to my chest,
Go to sleep with you
Alas, when I wake up
You're not there with me
There's only my pillow
I sometimes look at you,
All silent and absent
And I suffer in silence
As so many others
I'd like to scream
For you to come back to me
That if I still live,
It's merely to love you
But everything fades
Now my suffering
Just like words
Is dragged by the wind
That's why I come home,
Drunk in anguish
I cover you in prude
Kisses and caresses
But you're asleep
You don't feel my touch
I hold you to my chest,
Go to sleep with you
Alas, when I wake up
You're not there with me
There's only my pillow
That’s an absolutely clean translation. 😍
