Hanna the Vizsla does Vizsla Tricks

- My Hungarian Vizsla, Hanna, who is just over 18 months old, doing some tricks, Vizsla-style. A lot of the tricks on this video are Hanna's interpretation of what she thinks she is meant to be doing, rather than necessarily what she was being asked to do!
Hanna is trained using positive reinforcement. I mark and reward behaviours I want, then put them on cue. Vizslas are very sensitive, gentle dogs and will not tolerate harsh handling. Patience, consistency and a good tasting treat are the best way to teach your Vizsla tricks.
Starring: Rowanstar Egmont Red Hanna, my hands and legs.
Music: Walking the Dog by Fun.
I saw a four-month old vizsla puppy today, fully of curiosity and energy, and remembered Hanna and this wonderful video and all her talents. I hope she is still with you.
Hi there, thanks for your lovely comment. Hanna is still with me, she is almost 11 now but is still very fit and still loves doing tricks too!
Just came across this video and was thinking the same thing.
She is as cute as it gets for a Vizsla. And the self control?? Priceless.
You have a amazing relationship with an amazing dog.
This is amazing, if my vizsla saw the freezer open he wouldn't shut it, he would just go rummaging through it to see how many things he could eat
lovely viszla best dog in world.
great Vizsla, great video. she'll love you for life.
The shipper for our company has raised two wonderful, but CRAZY Vizla's. They are so smart, but they are NUTS!
Love them both. They are the office dog, the yard dog.
My vizsla is brilliant in the following things:
1. Lying on the couch
2. Lying on the bed when we leave the house and leave the bedroom door open
3. Lying on the bed when we're asleep
4. Pretending innocence when we wake up with a "I don't know how I got here, I just woke up in this bed" look
5. Chasing balls
6. Lying in any fountain, well or puddle when exhausted
Greetings from a Hungarian and a Hungarian "citizen" vizsla :)
Gábor Vajda my Vizsla has to be it's twin. It does the same things!
Vizslahhhhhhhh- they are best dogs on Earth!!!....if you fit enough physically and mentally
She is pure beauty :D
Cutie .Viszla's have to be the most beautiful dogs
I love it when a bird dog gets "birdy" aka going on point. Vizsla's are beautiful dogs, I'd love to have one, but my house and lifestyle are not suited for such an energetic dog. They are excellent bird dogs, not so much for waterfowl, but for pheasants, quail, even seen one go on point on a wild turkey one day, it was hilarious:-)!
Hanna is a beautiful, beautiful Vizsla. And you have don amazing things with her. I am sending ours to reform school immediately.
I cant wait to see what she learns next!! VERY smart, beautiful dog, wonderful training!
0:42-47 lie down in 1 2 3...done! Slow motion.😁
A little forward: total self-control with cookies around. Om Om.
Well done, Hanna!😚
I love her!
Especially those
big toe beans.
Our wonderful Vizsla, Jack was smaller than Hannah but every bit as beautiful. I have never seen a more handsome breed of dog. And they love to take your hand by mouth for a walk (you know how they are?)
Great film: wonderful dog - great work.
What a beautiful dog.
vizslas best dogs ever!!!!
Best dogs ever! Love my Vizsla!
Excellent video! Loved it!
I love vizslas!!!
Awesome dog!
I love Vizsla's! Yay Vizsla team!! She's adorable
Thank you! I love her so, so much. :)
Vizsla is the easiest dog breed to fall in love with :-)
BEST video ever!!!!!!!
..very nice video, it's always amazing what dogs can learn when u spend time with them, & what we learn from them!
Quite the awesome V you have there! Our 11 week old puppy is our second V and we love her!
What a great video. My Vizsla Isis and I enjoyed it. Once you have a Vizsla there is no going back.
Lol, The Vizsla wiggle.
Way to go Hanna! I hope to own a Vizsla one day soon and I hope I can be as good of a trainer as yours!
what a beautiful dog
Gorgeous. Got 3 weeks until I collect my Vizsla pup. Can't wait. Been looking for one of these pups for 6 months. What a beautiful breed (and perfect for our energetic house!). :)
We have an 11 week old Vizsla, she's a handful but very smart. We trained her to go to the bathroom outside in 2 days!
love it!!!
Awsome dog, and nice video editing. :D
great video and editing!!

I love Vizsla,my dog is a vizsla mix and he is very smart and you and Hanna are fantastic :D
Great video!
She looks so much like our Rita! Great video, we enjoyed it =)
Great video! Beautiful dog!! I have an 8 month old Vizsla male, light of my life!! He has the great dark red coloring like Hanna! Would love to teach him that chin down trick. Vizsla's have the greatest personalities in the world! Hanna is Beautiful & also very well trained, looks like a very happy dog!!!
That was so cute
awesome video!!!
amazing
We have a 7 month old Vizsla and he is so similar to Hanna in the mannerisms :) It's cute to see on other Vizslas :) well done on the training!
Good job Hanna, excellent video
2 cute! We breed vizslas, looks like you have spent a lot of time working with yours. These are some of the most loving dogs I have ever had.
I have a Vizsla. Love the breed: beautiful, loving, smart-everything you want in a pet. Our dog is not laid back! Stay is difficult for him. We're crazy about him anyway.
Congrats on all you've taught your Vizsla.
She's lovely :)
Jeej!It's cute!!
vizsla are great dogs n good with kids as will
Lovely smart little girl! My vizsla, Zizi was smart like Hanna. :-)
the best
Thanks! She is sometimes a little hard to motivate because she is very laid back, but once she gets something it usually sticks pretty well in her brain.
She's an NZ dog, but her dad's from Australia.
"Laid back" Vizslas are rare ! Typically, they are a bundle of nervous energy.
what a good girl! my dog is 5 months she is half vizsla half choc. lab...only sits and gives her paw. shes already 31lbs! Looks more like a vizsla with choc. colored fur shes a great dog so far!
i have a vizsla ! its a very nice dog !
Thank you! Would love to see a video of Cooper. :)
I started a new video but sadly I no longer have a camera. Hoping to fix this soon though, then there will be more Hanna videos, and some of my new Weimaraner too!
That she denied bouncing balls was amazing enough, but @ 1:06
Are you kidding me, a STEAK??? That's amazing! My Bluetick Coonhound would have lunged at the steak and ran as far away as she could to enjoy it in *private*. Hanna is truly an obedient, smart dog. :)
lmao this is GREAT! I think I need to teach my 10 month old vizsla these tricks!! she's a loony luna ;)
I am inspired to teach Finch all these tricks too! I started working on her closing the kitchen drawers this morning using the "touch" command. I can get her to touch the drawer but not hard enough to make to move... any suggestions?
@DontWannaMakeIt Thanks for the tips... we have "soft close" drawers to they don't make a sound when they close, but I'll keep at it. She tends to use her nose for "touch" but she did paw at it once and I gave her a jackpot for that, but she didn't do it again. Any tips for encouraging her to use her paw? I think with her paw, she'd get the drawer to close more easily.
self control made me laugh
Selfcontroll was the best
@VivaVizsla Thankyou!
@DontWannaMakeIt Ahh, great idea, I will try that! We'll work on it this weekend and post a video. Thank you!
Pretty amazing now I have one vizsla myself now.... what is the best food to feed vizslas to teach them tricks? Nice Channel
Fantastic clip - how did you teach her to drop/lie down in stages like that?!
She is super smart...
@finchpup Once she's catching on, just start to open the drawer a bit further each time.
If your kitchen drawers are quite stiff and don't shut really smoothly then this might be a bit harder for her too. Another thing that might be easier is trying with a small cupboard door, coz they swing easily.
What IS this song???
She has my name! awesome!:3
@DontWannaMakeIt Last night, I taught Finch to close the kitchen drawer using the technique you suggested. Thanks! It won't let me post a link here, but the video is on my channel.
how did you get her to do these?
smart vizsla, mine won't lay down. Only up, up, up
Hanna is beautiful! I would love to know how you taught her the self-control. I think that would be the most difficult to convey and reinforce during the teaching process. Could you give some tips. I have just started the adoption process for a Vizsla pup and am so excited! Thank you.
Haha, I can't wait to get mine this Monday. How is yours doing?
She is a very beautiful dog.i have a magyar vizsla too.but he is 5 .he is sweet too.im coming from german.
Wow, amazing girl! that's a lot of detication to get them to do all that. My V needs to step up her game a little! where did you get her from?
Is her name Pavlov?
👍👍👍
@finchpup Are you getting her to use her nose or her foot? If she's using her foot and still not putting enough pressure on, what might work is if you only open the drawer a tiny bit, and then even a small amount of pressure should be able to shut it. Reward Finch when the drawer makes the sound of closing. Repeat it a few times, only rewarding after the drawer-closing sound. Finch should learn that she gets the reward after the drawer makes a sound, rather than just for touching it.
@finchpup My dogs have both done a bit of flyball with me, so they have a 'hit it' command, which means to to touch it with their paw. I don't honestly remember how i taught it, but perhaps you could teach Finch with an icecream container lid on the ground, by rewarding her when she steps on it with one of her front feet. She will quickly get the idea, then if you add a command to the paw touch, you should be able to transfer the behaviour to other objects such as the drawers.
Hi I have a vizsla to she's called betsy and she's 16 months old so cute she can only hi5, give her paw, laydown, and sit I have 3 videos on my channel of her when she was 6 or 7 months old
My Ridgeback does the same tricks :)
Do these doggos smell like doggos? Dogs101 say "they don't have that doggie smell". I call bs?
They have no undercoat like other dogs so yeah, its true they have almost no doggy odour.
nice!!
They have much less of a doggy smell than most breeds. It helps they love water so will wash themselves, or allow themselves to be washed, and then dry easily. Ours is a vizla-whippet cross, so has the same thin coat, but an even more impressive turn of speed!
Its not bs. Vizslas have little to no smell & are notorious for cleaning themselves often through out the day, plus they tend to love water & given baths 😄 love my vizsla! 🐕💗
My vizsla is named Hanna also!(:
oh my sha
Hanna Hanna Hanna ... I Wanna Wanna Wanna hug you!!!
Can you teach her to liberalise North Korea?
It was an accident... Haha. She knows the 'head down' and 'bow' tricks - i was trying to get her to bow, but she was very preoccupied with putting her chin on the ground! Put that in the video coz i thought it was hilarious and very Vizsla. ;)
Haha, your comment made me laugh so much!
Hanna is brilliant at all of these things too, especially the "I have no idea how I got on this bed/pillow/couch" face. She is also perfect at the "Why are you doing this to me, I thought you loved me?" face when asked to get off of the bed/pillow/couch. xD
@finchpup Good luck. :)
No she isn't, but she does do agility now that she's old enough. :)
Bosco is stuff
I want this beautiful friend
