Hi there. I will keep this polite, assuming you may not know how the content gets to you, free of charge. - I work on my usual 9-5 job most days and use every bit of available time to create content. Sometimes working until 3AM to edit these videos - The equipment used to record these videos (drones, 4K cameras, microphones) cost me thousands. - The lovely space where I record this video costs me too, I pay rent every month - The watch itself, the smartphones, EVERY SINGLE THING you see on the channel is mine, purchased with my own hard-earned cash. - The money I make though these sponsored few minutes here and there helps me buy and fund all of the above If you are not familiar with TH-cam, that is how EVERY CHANNEL on the platform works. @@AlexGTech So I would describe this channel more as a hobby then , I mean you could also act professional an take it as a constructive critic instead of explaining how you have to earn money beside your full-time job.
@avertonmeier6744 I do take constructive criticism and implement relevant suggestions all the time. What I'm referring to above was in response to a lack of awareness and perceived entitlement. I don’t believe my response was unprofessional. The video had a related ad in it and provided 10 minutes of free content. I do non-sponsored videos all the time and have removed sponsors 3 times in September alone in favour of releasing the video on time for my viewers. This is a business, not sure where you got the idea of a hobby. But it's not a business large enough yet that would make me stop my other 9-5 business. There are literally dozens of dedicated channels that will shove entire videos down our throats that have been clearly 100% sponsored by brands, and include a 3rd party ad, often unrelated to the video. My implied point to original post was that I'm providing at least an independent perspective, based on real world experience. But these videos don't happen by magic. Skipping a couple of minutes if you're not interested in the ad and having a go at the creator for funding the free content just felt like the person was disconnected from reality.
@AlexGTech, No need to apologize to these “gents”. It’s ironic Avertonmeir tells you to act professional while at the same time implying that you are describing your channel as a hobby. Keep up the good work. It’s clear you put a ton of effort in these videos.
Just upgrade from a 6, definitely wanted something bigger and brighter. Looks more proper also so im definitely looking forward to it coming in the mail
I don't know how you guys are using your watch but I have the Ultra 1st gen, over a year old and I burn about 30-35% per day with regular use. If I switch on low power mode then I burn about 25% per day. I set up a Siri Shortcut that records my battery level along with the time/date etc every time I click the action button and then saves that to a reminders list. I can then copy that data on my PC from the Apple iCloud website to an Excel doc and plot it out on a graph along with approximating a linear trend line and from there I could work out approximately how many % I burn per hour. It was around 1.25-1.5%/hour and about 5%/hour for GPS activities. I agree that longer battery life would be nice but the battery life on the Ultra is in no way limiting. Boo hoo, you have to chuck it on charge for 20 mins once every 1-2 days. That must be so tough for you. I chuck it on charge when I jump in the shower or while I'm getting ready for bed. It charges super quick as well, way faster than a Garmin haha. Garmins take like 2-3 hours to charge so even though you have to do it less often, it is a major pain when you do have to.
Eh.. some things to consider: 1. It freezes about once every other day. 2. Some of the apps like mindfulness ping you in the middle of a workout ‘WANNA STOP WORKING OUT AND UPDATE ME?!’ 3. The parked car complication doesn’t work 90% of the time. 4. A lot of the apps are just not useful on the watch. Instead of ‘lightning summary’ they try to pack too many features in and kind of badly replicate the phone app 5. The double tap gesture is very hit and miss. 6. The on screen button to stop the alarm sometimes just doesn’t work. 7. There are more issues.
Battery life is a huge issue for shift workers where the working day and hours can vary hugely from day to day. Getting at least 24 hours of use with everything turned on is essential in my experience and the 36 hours available from the Apple Watch Ultra 2 is reassuring. An hour and a half to charge from zero to full is okay and a half hour charge will get you through the day at a push. In actual daily use, I find 48 hours between charges is average. Given that the number of charge/discharge cycles is the primary factor in reducing battery life and capacity, the need for less frequent charging implies that the watch will last a lot longer before needing a battery change. The ability to customise virtually every aspect of the watch, use third party apps, and make phone calls and send and receive text messages without a phone are just additional icing on the cake. The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is not really a watch, it is a mobile phone and computer you wear on your wrist.
I can understand the battery criticism, which is a view shared by many in the tech community. But for me, even if the battery lasted a week, I would still charge my watch daily. I take my watch off every morning after waking up because I don't need it for when I shower. My charger is right next to my bed and it takes no effort to place my watch on it while I go about my morning routine.
I really enjoy my ultra. I went from a series 4 to the ultra. Huge upgrades. The one thing I do not like about the Apple Watch is the battery life. I never get anywhere near what they advertise. But I adjust it’s a great watch.
Yes, the battery life started off great for me but has been super inconsistent, some weeks I'd get 3 days, other weeks 1-2 days. I think compound with the fact I wasn't using an iPhone, the Garmin made more sense for me. As I get back to using iPhones soon maybe the AWU will find its way back into my wrist 🤣
Wow. TH-cam videos are able to educate about technologies (I always watch videos about Apple Watch Ultra 2 that I am continuing to save up to buy 49mm instead of 45mm) that will make me to interest to buy one because of my vision limitations that depend on bigger screens. My wrist size is thin, but TH-cam videos show that no problem for me to wear because I am a lady that I like larger screen sizes I can see better.
I found the Series 5 watch battery didn't meet my lifestyle. I quit using it because it was dead half the time. This Ultra 2 is not a gimmick in reference to battery power. Mine runs 2 days easily, and now it's actually a practical use item. I dont carry my phone with me hardly at all. Audio quality for phone calls is excellent. Text messaging is easy after some getting used to. Being waterproof gives peace of mind. I live away from any cities in the wilderness, and use the one touch button to activate the flashlight, which I find comes in very handy. The new brighter display makes it practical. The walkie-talkie app keeps me and my gf in contact and works pretty slick. U2 = Thumbs up. S5 = Thumbs down.
Fair point, that is indeed a change in this model. I actually did a Google sheets to compare, because Apple won't let us compare it on the website (suprise, surprise)... Here if you want to check it out: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vT1g5ipivNLKZAeQm5jJ7X_q0-p0aCB8rw1hcsxM0SU7po1Xi3Sw-KhrZ1W2eSTHvCo1XwzjGFGP2pM/pubhtml?gid=0&single=true
Hi, an update to my previous comments. First, I’m happy with the U2, but then again How could I not be since I really liked the U1. I received my trade in and while I was quoted $380 trade value, I received $411.32!!! This covered the remaining amount as I expected with some left over! Plus I’m still receiving the monthly $8.38 rebate on the U1 from T-Mobile with 21 months to go. I’ve put the 64GB storage to good use with plenty of memory for other things. The Double Tap works pretty good but could still be improved and needs to be to make it a must have feature. Yes, it cost me a lot even with the savings to wind up with the U2, but I intend this to be the watch I keep. I’m done chasing Apple. When the time comes I’ll have the battery changed. The Ultra is a tough practical digital watch that is worth buying and keeping.
Great review and I am very happy with mine after two weeks. Upgraded from a 4. No joke, adding the red flashlight to the action button has made it so much easier to navigate those overnight bathroom walks. And what song was on your outtro?
I agree with you about the lack of changes, but I think you’re looking at it from a perspective of someone that has a current Apple Watch. For someone like me that’s coming from a series 5 the ultra 2 is a Ferrari. it gives people that are truly needing an update. Something that is way better than they have granted not much better than just buying the one from last year, but still appreciable difference for me.
Indeed. I’m coming from a Series 4 Apple Watch that I’ve been using heavily for 5 years! I’ve just ordered the Ultra 2 as the battery on the Series 4 is now at 82% maximum capacity. Getting the Ultra 2 if you’re coming from a vintage Series 4 seems to be a no-brainer…!!! 😊
I had the UW1 for a few months, now UW2, I feel the battery life has improved by half a day or more with the same usage (could be CPU or watchOS10..?) …newer processor, double the storage and brighter screen are still nice upgrades at the same cost as the UW1 and a bonus for anyone thinking about buying the new Ultra 2.
My battery last 4 days long and that's 96 hours before i charge it..AOD on, full brightness on, Sleep and fitness tracking on, daily carplay, messaging, callling...
I just ordered the Ultra 2. I got rid of my Series 7 when I got my Fenix 6X Saphire but I thought I’d give them another chance. I get 6 to 7 days with all functions active on my Fenix. Granted, if I track my morning runs it drops to maybe 4 days. I also find it hard to believe how much we complain about lack of functions on smart watches when I paid more for my Seiko and Omega automatics yet am totally happy with just day and date functions, and I enjoy wearing the automatics more.
I’ve had the Ultra2 for about 3 months. I have taken no action to extend or preserve battery life. I have not been careful about battery use. I would describe my self as an average user. Battery consistently last over 72 hours.
Probably in the next 3 or four more releases. They will wait until Samsung does it. Then 3 years later Apple will do it. And take all the credit. I folded and bought one. I had a Gen 7.
I feel that for 99% of the people that purchase a U2 the battery life is more than sufficient. That being said I would not upgrade from U1. I’m currently using a series 4 and definitely plan to upgrade to U2 in a few weeks.
Apple products are tough to chase every year. Had the iwatch 6 upgrade to ultra 2. Worlds apart and battery life has been incredible, no I don’t sleep with it so charging is not an issue. I wouldn’t be in the market for a new one for several years so Apple have at it…..
The biggest change is that finally usa and europe and asia is the same apple watch series. Previous apple watch ultra from europe was not working in usa and vice versa…. Thats why i buy this watch
What? I’m in Denmark, Europe. Bought my first Ultra here and have Been to the States three times in the last year, and my Ultra works just fine in the US.
If you turn off notifications from apps that don’t matter you’ll get decent battery life I’m at 40 and I charged to 100 yesterday at 2:33pm it’s 3:27pm rn
I find the Ultra 2 does not allow me to override the Auto-dimming so it is barely readable at night. It dims itself too much even after trying to turn up the brightness to max. $800 for a watch that I can only use when the room is bright.
Battery is a red herring tbh. Most people have a daily get-home charging routine, and can live without their watch for a half hour while they unpack from the day.
I don't know... I think there's a lot to be said for not worrying about battery, but I get your point, easy enough to leave it on charge while having a shower or whatever.
@@AlexGTech My view is that if you aren't worried about only a day on your phone, don't sweat getting the same life from a watch which requires the phone to do its job.
Yeah, really depends on how we use it. I've been really enjoying the garmin, but I appreciate that it's probably because I haven't used an iPhone for about 6 months. With the new iPhone, the AWU may find its way back into my day to day
Exactly!! Great response instead of crying over battery life. You can even charge it while you’re washing your butt, that should take 30+ minutes as well
Hi nice vid . Am toying with the ultra 2 . I do own a fénix 7 sapphire solar , I am looking for an everyday smart watch to go with my I phone 15 pro . As if I was 😅n a hike I would use my garmin . Is the apple watch worth it in your humble opinion many thanks
Apple watch ultra series 1 owner here. After updating to watch os 10 battery life on my watch dropped by about 30% in comparison to what it was before. Now, let me guess what will happen with watch ultra 2 battery life when watch os 11 comes out.
Apple have already released a WatchOS update to rectify that problem - which they were graceful enough to acknowledge. Contrary to certain maligned beliefs, I assure you the battery drain wasn’t intentional - I even noticed it on my AW Ultra 2 - rectified when I installed the latest update (not beta). It’s unfortunate, but these things do happen. Even the great Microsoft makes mistakes in their security updates too.
I rarely pull the trigger on a gen 1, I always wait for at least a gen 2. New colour, don’t care. Brighter screen: Yes, nice for scuba diving, double tap on accessibility iOS 10.0x is good enough but I cant wait for 10.1 to use the native hardware version. Don’t care about Siri on device, I rather having chatGBT. I have to say, I would always say yes to a better battery, but we are constraint by physics and functionality. Fitness tracking, I use Atheytic, I hate subscription but I for fitness and health, I will break the rules.😢
Audio is distorted during phone calls. My brand new Apple Watch Ultra 2 makes cracking sounds when I make calls with the speaker volume at Max. Audio is distorted only during normal or FaceTime calls. The problem does not occur when recording or playing sounds from the speakers. It's never been in the water, I haven't even washed my hands while wearing it. It may be a software issue because the Apple Watch Ultra (1) had the same problem and it was solved with the watchOS 9.0.1 update. Apple then had the following note in said update: «This update includes improvements and bug fixes for your Apple Watch Ultra. Audio could be distorted during phone calls using speakers.» I hope that the problem will be solved again through a new update and that it is not a hardware problem. Finally I should note that until recently I had the Apple Watch Ultra (1) and it had no problems related to what I mention.
Ha. Cursing at Siri/dictation/voice-to-text was the last straw for me to just get rid of my 14 PM when I tried to switch back to Apple. It's absolutely horrible! Great fair review!
Thanks so much!! Yes, dictation is a big one for me too and so far Pixel does the best between every piece of tech I've used so far... it would be nice to have that same quality on Siri and Bixby too...
Can you use the double tap hand gesture to accept 3rd party MFA push notifications like Duo (push)? I would buy this in a heartbeat if I didn't have to wait for the notification and tap my watch screen to accept the Duo MFA Prompt. I log into many MFA servers daily and would love to hand double tap my MFA.
Love my ultra 2 the alpine loops just look fantastic on this watch the trail loop as well I’m not a fan of the ocean band the modular ultra face is unique this watch is just great this one is a keeper will likely keep it until September 2025 I can get about 3 days out of mine with about 25% left
I’ve had the Apple Watch Ultra since release when I bought the 14pro max at the same time, the watch has been amazing, even after almost a year there is not a single scratch on it. When it comes to the Apple Watch ultra 2, anyone with the original would be stupid to upgrade, Apple’s marketing bullshit is always gonna make a big deal out of features that don’t really make a big difference in the real world.
the casing on it is indeed fantastic and I did have a few knocks that I know 100% would have damaged any other watch, really good. very true about the Marketing aspect...
The watch is bigger because the battery is bigger the components inside or more and it’s rugged. Stainless steel is going to be heavier than aluminum. Aluminum can bend. It has a sapphire crystal glass, which is more stronger and durable. So it is heavier it is bigger, but it has double speakers better microphones to talk then I think it’s just a great watch.
With that 64GB of storage, the AW Ultra 2 when paired with a pair of Apple AirPods Pro’s makes for a great iPod device on your wrist - it is also capable of being a mobile phone in its own right - what with the built in e-SIM technology (you just need to set it up as a phone, via your mobile service provider….😊
Hi Alex Great video as always. I love my Apple Watch ultra 1 and only use it mostly for workouts. I use my watch 8 stainless steel gold for everyday use. I will definitely not be buying the watch ultra 2 I am hoping they come out with the non-invasive blood glucose monitor and other health sensors on the next watch 3. the only difference is the brightness, chip set and double tap other than that the watches are the same and no-one would know if you're wearing ultra 1 or 2.
🙏🏼Thank you! yes, I was hopipng for that blood glucose monitor, not so much for me but I know how valuable that will be to a lot of people. Very strange that they released it with so little updates, but I guess they were easy enough to do, given the S9 SiP was already being developed for the Series 9. Oh well, it saved me 800 quid 🤣
To be fair they did double the internal storage to 64 which is an under rated upgrade as well the watch is capable of a broader altitude range with accuracy. Meaning you could use it from the Dead Sea to the top of Everest. Not a huge deal to all but for some.
They say design is a matter of taste. That being said, I still find the thing an ugly huge brick. A watch should be circular anyways, except for the Cartier 'Tank' of course. Furthermore, I assume the watch is still as heavy as the previous version and I find that one annoyingly uncomfortable. I don't understand why this monstrous device seems to attract people.
My AW S7 couldn’t sustain and restore to iOS after my daily swim in pool or ocean bought on 04/2022. Worry about to buy U2 will have the same problem of water proof and 36 hrs battery life. Considering other smart watches.
You can use "Double tap" on the older watches with the "Quick Actions" accessibility setting but, as expected, it is less reliable than the Double Tap with the new S9 SIP. Some people are cynical, but they are only fooling themselves. The new hardware does make a difference. My GF has a Series 9 and I have an Ultra 1. The Series 9 is faster, Siri is way quicker, and double tap is faster and more reliable.
I think they made a pretty damn good watch with that one so they should have skipped this year. Wait until they can provide a whole week's battery life.
I am glad I am not alone in thinking that! I'd much rather wait and get a decent update. But I guess a lot of the improvements they made on Series 9 were simple enough to update the AWU... When they provide more than 4-5 days I am immediately getting one. That is about 90% of the reason why I am using a Garmin now
@@AlexGTech I don't think that lazy tapping thing was enough for an update either. They need to take two years, bring Jony Ive back, and actually come up with some stuff.
I'm a huge believer in "Check before you buy", and am lucky to live within 15 minutes of an Apple Store so, when I was looking to get my first Apple Watch last year, I went in and tried all the models, sizes and colours. I'd originally been drawn to a darker colour, but wasn't sure of size. I ended up getting a Nike Series 7 41 in Starlight - didn't need the 8's extra features, but wanted more than what the SE2 had to offer (the Ultra was just too big/expensive). Have to say, I absolutely love it. Thanks for the vid!
I’m coming from a series 5 to the ultra 2. I use the Nike run app for my running tracking. I’m looking forward to the larger watch style because I felt the 42mm was super small on my wrist.
I'm using huawei watch pro and battery life crazy good .I charge it once in a week with esim support and wifi on ..some of features like wallet not working in some regions but I don't care ..I don't know why most of the people's are so crazy for this apple watch ..😂😂
I Still don’t understand why people buy ultra which is for people with extras sports. The normal watch is for normal use This is bulky for protection but if you use only in the office you don’t need to buy the expensive ultra
You are correct, Apple does sometimes take customers for granted. I saw no need to upgrade my 7 to an 8 but once T-Mobile essentially took $200 off the U1, I did, and like I mentioned, I will be going for the U2 but only because Apple is giving me $380 as trade in. The U2 will probably use the SiP9 for the next 3 years at the very least. So, there will be no reason to upgrade the U2 as far as I’m concerned.
@@AlexGTechI’ve since changed my mind and ordered the U2. I plan on keeping the Ultra as my long term watch and so I decided to go for the U2 because of the new chip and 64GB storage.
I really can't understand the ppl carrying on about battery life. I mean seriously , I have a series 7, I can put on before bed, track my sleep, go to work the next day for 10 hours and i get home its still like 30% to 40% . Put it on charge when I walk in the door and repeat. Some ppl are just never happy no matter what is offered.
@@EdvardHolst The point I was trying to make, is it really a big deal to snap your watch onto the charger every day, you don't really need to wear it 24/7. Go and buy a Gammin watch then, this was about apple watches.
I always enjoy your videos Alex very high-quality and you break things down in Laymans terms since I'm not a tech guy you make it easy for me to understand the technology that you are featuring. As of yet Alex I've resisted buying the watch. Thank you have a great day😊
I appreciate that. Thanks so much Don ❤ It's a great watch, no doubt but I really thought they would have given a bit more thought on the battery life. Have a great day 😊
Nice video, like many other watchers I love most of the apple products and feel the same as you , sometimes frustrated by them as a company, but we need people like you to honestly review this stuff ,
I’m going from the U1 ( which is very good) to the U2 which will be even better and my long term keeper! In answering texts, I have decided that dictation is better than trying to type on the watch. If you keep it simple, the dictation is fine on the U1 but I expect it to be even better on the U2. The SiP9 will be an even better system with more onboard vice having to access the internet for everything. From what I’ve seen the 9 won’t blow the 8 out of the water but will be a solid update. Looking forward to my U2 which will become my long term watch.
This is an update. My U2 was delivered today, so here is my assessment. First , I wasn’t expecting a huge difference due to all the reviewers and that is the case. So, why upgrade? First, the new SiP9 will probably be the chip for the next 3 years. The onboard Siri and 64GB storage, to me, is what made the upgrade worthwhile. The improved display is also okay but not that big of a deal as the Ultra was already bright/dim enough. If the expanded storage and onboard Siri are not important to you, then indeed pass on the U2. They are to me and due to the $380 trade in, I'm willing to pay the extra. Also, I plan on this being my last upgrade for several years.
I really wanted to try one but I am not so happy with the Garmin I and not using the iPhone as much. The Ultra in general is a phenomenal watch really, especially if you are in the Apple ecosystem already
The battery discussion is interesting imho. It seems to come down to routines. I have the first SE model and I simply charge it every morning after waking up, get ready for the day und put it on again when I leave for work. That way it’s always charged. 🤷🏼♂️ More battery life than 24h doesn’t wouldn’t make a difference really… When do you charge your watch? Ah and one other thing: I smirked a bit when you said „you can’t really deny that the design is awesome“ 😂 Well, I find the design quite unappealing and would need reasons to get it even so it looks that way. 😉😋
Like my apple watch ultra durability (1 complaint is band stuck after swimming in ocean couple times even though thoroughly rinsed washed & dried after each ocean swim), thought ultra seemed little slow for 8th gen device I believe Chip upgrade should have been put in ultra last year, haven’t seen enough difference this year to think of upgrading, hope ultra 3 is couple mm thinner has better band mechanism that buttons don’t press so easy accidentally or ai software that can prevent accidental button activations and ability for remapping all button actions long press single press double press, 👍👍
Where are the adventurers when the AWU came out last year? I bet they don’t care about 3000 nits or pinching. They want something more significant, longer battery life to let them worry about what they do in their adventures rather than be conscious about their tracking dying in the middle of an activity. Seems that Apple is migrating away from these folks and are going back to the regular Apple Watch fans.
That's an interesting point! I do know some serious athletes who tried the AWU but mainly for training, rather than the actual activity. In other words, ok for a long run/bike ride. But for a marathon or 5 day trip, the Garmin comes out 🥰 I just wish the Garmin had more smartwatch features, but until then, both kinda complete each other
Same case as my friend. He uses the AWU on his training days and his Coros on ultra races. I remain hopeful though that next year will be a major update since the Apple Watch 10 is pretty much coming out. Until then, I’ll hold back. Thanks for your reviews and videos! Turning on the bell notification from now on.
Your extended sales pitch on the watch bands was too much. Not cool at all.

@@AlexGTech My ultra doesn’t last 24 hours. I just deal with it
fair enough
It’s a nice watch , but way too big for my wrist I’m sticking with my series 8 nice video and content Alex 🇨🇮😎
I have the series 4, I think i'm ready to pull the plug and get me an ultra 2
What case and band is used on the watch @ 0:08?
I did not hear you mention that capacity went from 32GB in Ultra to 64GB in Ultra 2.
Fair point, that is indeed a change in this model. I actually did a Google sheets to compare, because Apple won't let us compare it on the website (suprise, surprise)... Here if you want to check it out:

Hi Alex, I am looking to buy latest iphone and watch in USA. Do you have any source from where i could get some discount on these products?
Great review and I am very happy with mine after two weeks. Upgraded from a 4. No joke, adding the red flashlight to the action button has made it so much easier to navigate those overnight bathroom walks. And what song was on your outtro?
I’m upgrading from a 4 also lol
What Garmin watch do you have?
I currenlty have the Epix Gen 2. I did a review of it comparing that and the Fenix 6 Pro too.
Battery consistently last over 72 hours.
wow! That is pretty good to be honest. I was never able to reach that, maybe once or twice
Blood glucose in like having a micro needle stuck under your skin? Because reliable glucose measurements can only be obtained that way.
To be honest I don’t understand the tech behind that yet but I know from another creator this was going to be a big deal.
Solar power should be incorporated. For $800, def should
That’ll be on the ultra 9 after they make their billions lol!
I’m currently using a series 4 and definitely plan to upgrade to U2 in a few weeks.
i have the apple watch ultra 2 i have only had it for about 4 months now i was going to get the watch series 10 but i decided to get the ultra
Just ordered mine, I’m upgrading from a Series 1, hopefully I can see a difference…
I will be curious to hear if you saw a difference, especially in battery. Let me know 🙏🏼
What's that wallpaper on the laptop? it looks like an all black Ultra 2, with matching metal bracelet. I want one! LOL
Thats why i buy this watch
oh wow, I did not know that! I guess that is a win
What? I’m in Denmark, Europe. Bought my first Ultra here and have Been to the States three times in the last year, and my Ultra works just fine in the US.
Thanks for the sharing. Finally decided to go for Ultra 2 after your sharing… many thanks 🙏
If you turn off notifications from apps that don’t matter you’ll get decent battery life I’m at 40 and I charged to 100 yesterday at 2:33pm it’s 3:27pm rn
And used sleep tracking
I just recently purchased iPhone 15 pro max and the watch this is my first time ever owning a iPhone and watch
I really don't know what to do with watches. On one hand I like watches but on the other hands I barely wear them hahaha
In the exact same boat, just no where near enough improvement to battery or features to warrant a purchase.
exactly, I was really hopeful you know? I didnt care much about a different colour but a better battery and I'd have immediately purchased it
Is series 7 don't have double tap option ?
Hello sir could you please tell me Using an external monitor or leaving the macbook plugged in will damage the macbook or it's battery?
I find the Ultra 2 does not allow me to override the Auto-dimming so it is barely readable at night. It dims itself too much even after trying to turn up the brightness to max. $800 for a watch that I can only use when the room is bright.
Got mine yesterday
I do have an issue with Garmin - they updates policy - the software with new features available e.g. on Fenix 7 is not available on Fenix 6!!!
I went from an Apple Watch 6, to the ultra 2 big difference
I’m using series 4, I’m getting Apple Watch ultra 2 soon.
Wow! That's gonna be an upgrade and a half! Excited for you, it makes sense in that case to get the newer model
I’m getting an ultra 2 on feb 1st, do you recommend a screen protector or is the glass good enough.
No need. It uses sapphire glass, which is very strong.
@@nikkosr888 glass is glass
The battery turns me off.. will just buy xiaomi to pair for my iphone..
such a shame, I actually like the watch
You can even charge it while you’re washing your butt, that should take 30+ minutes as well
Can’t see mine, auto dimming dimmed too low.
Which watch face is that?
Love my Ultra 1. No need to get new one. Not enough “ improvements “ for me to get the 2.
What is the name of fitness app you said in a video?
Right during the embargo LOL 😂
Yeah, I thought they gave up on it, was expecting yesterday 🤣 oh well
@@AlexGTech Yeah, I didn’t expect a embargo for a basically chip swap upgrade
LOL true
I rarely pull the trigger on a gen 1, I always wait for at least a gen 2. New colour, don’t care. Brighter screen: Yes, nice for scuba diving, double tap on accessibility iOS 10.0x is good enough but I cant wait for 10.1 to use the native hardware version. Don’t care about Siri on device, I rather having chatGBT. I have to say, I would always say yes to a better battery, but we are constraint by physics and functionality. Fitness tracking, I use Atheytic, I hate subscription but I for fitness and health, I will break the rules.😢
Was waiting for the Ultra2 but I will pick up the Ultra when the prices come down and use it until the changes are significant.
So do the old apple watch bands fit the ultra 1 or 2?
Sensors are the best and most accurate in the industry bro
Audio could be distorted during phone calls using speakers.»
I hope that the problem will be solved again through a new update and that it is not a hardware problem.
What model is the Garmin please ❓
Can you use the double tap hand gesture to accept 3rd party MFA push notifications like Duo (push)? I would buy this in a heartbeat if I didn't have to wait for the notification and tap my watch screen to accept the Duo MFA Prompt. I log into many MFA servers daily and would love to hand double tap my MFA.
now THAT would be useful. I am not sure to be honest, but I will ask them in store when I go check them out on Friday
Love my ultra 2 the alpine loops just look fantastic on this watch the trail loop as well I’m not a fan of the ocean band the modular ultra face is unique this watch is just great this one is a keeper will likely keep it until September 2025 I can get about 3 days out of mine with about 25% left
I wish the ultra2 had come in a black finish. Plain titanium looks a lot like bare aluminum to me.
The bands for the Ultra is 100 I found the same bands for Amazon for 40$ and you get about 6-8 of them
Hi Alex Great video as always.
Why anyone should even know you are wearing 2 instead of 1? 😂
To be fair they did double the internal storage to 64 which is an under rated upgrade as well the watch is capable of a broader altitude range with accuracy. Meaning you could use it from the Dead Sea to the top of Everest. Not a huge deal to all but for some.
Can you still use the wayfinder face on the ultra 2? Love that watch face
You can
They say design is a matter of taste.
My Apple Watch ⌚️ 7 died so I’m looking at the new one
I’ve never heard that the U2 chip has anything to do with GPS. Will have to investigate.
My AW S7 couldn’t sustain and restore to iOS after my daily swim in pool or ocean bought on 04/2022. Worry about to buy U2 will have the same problem of water proof and 36 hrs battery life. Considering other smart watches.
It's the same as last year man idk why u would spend 800 bucks on the same watch
Athlytic seems cool
Give me a solar version please!
They need to take two years, bring Jony Ive back, and actually come up with some stuff.
truer words never spoken!
@@AlexGTech Are you using garmin with apple phone or other type phone?
Your review was excellent ! Ignore the negativity. I applaud your clear concise and precise reviews. thank you!
I appreciate that! Thank you so much 🥰
I'm a huge believer in "Check before you buy", and am lucky to live within 15 minutes of an Apple Store so, when I was looking to get my first Apple Watch last year, I went in and tried all the models, sizes and colours.
Protection for the ultra, is lick putting a bulletproof vest on a tank 😂😂😂
I’m coming from a series 5 to the ultra 2. I use the Nike run app for my running tracking. I’m looking forward to the larger watch style because I felt the 42mm was super small on my wrist.
I'm using huawei watch pro and battery life crazy good .I charge it once in a week with esim support and wifi on ..some of features like wallet not working in some regions but I don't care ..I don't know why most of the people's are so crazy for this apple watch ..😂😂
I Still don’t understand why people buy ultra which is for people with extras sports. The normal watch is for normal use
This is bulky for protection but if you use only in the office you don’t need to buy the expensive ultra
The series 9 has 64gb into ( ultra2 too), the series 8, has 32 gb
You are correct, Apple does sometimes take customers for granted. I saw no need to upgrade my 7 to an 8 but once T-Mobile essentially took $200 off the U1, I did, and like I mentioned, I will be going for the U2 but only because Apple is giving me $380 as trade in. The U2 will probably use the SiP9 for the next 3 years at the very least. So, there will be no reason to upgrade the U2 as far as I’m concerned.
That upgrade doesn't sound too ba at all, and you will get 90% of the benefits of the Ultra!
Well, you could get a Garmin Fenix and get 30 days of battery life. If Apple wants to compete in the sport watch market the battery life needs a bump
@@EdvardHolst The point I was trying to make, is it really a big deal to snap your watch onto the charger every day, you don't really need to wear it 24/7. Go and buy a Gammin watch then, this was about apple watches.
Just couldn't make the "double tap" work.

I appreciate that. Thanks so much Don ❤ It's a great watch, no doubt but I really thought they would have given a bit more thought on the battery life. Have a great day 😊
Nice video!
thank you! Are you considering the Ultra 2?
@@AlexGTech not right now!
Storage has doubled from 36GB to 64GB. Lots more room for music and maps.
@@Halo9Khope it’s going well
$380 trade in value for my U1 is what makes trading up to the U2 doable!
Hmmm, over 50% cheaper than it was brand new. I am not so sure to be honest, given Apple products are meant to keep some of its value.
@@AlexGTech You’d have to talk to Apple, they set the value.
A new color is make a difference to Series 1
I guess the apple watch ultra boils down to how is the battery life and is there any new feature ..
Agreed, can't believe they didn't improve the battery on this new model
Love my Ultra 2!
More battery life than 24h doesn’t wouldn’t make a difference really…
When do you charge your watch?
Ah and one other thing: I smirked a bit when you said „you can’t really deny that the design is awesome“ 😂
Well, I find the design quite unappealing and would need reasons to get it even so it looks that way.
Garmin all the way
Loving my Epix Pro Gen 2 🥰
Why is nobody talking that the double click feature is even on Samsung Watch 4 (not even the most recent)
Yes sure as Apple fan, went from Ultra 1 to 2.. dont mind the comments.
