I am making great progress setting up the garage to be able to continue working on the Ford. We will be back on the '53 in the next couple of weeks. Check back to see some more progress.

To answer your question, yes you will be able to heat a garage if it's just a small one stall insulated building. Anything bigger will probably take more BTUs. I have a three stall insulated shop and my heater is just good enough to keep it above freezing over night running about 1/2 way open, which is all I needed. They're good enough for an automobile, tent, or camper is what they're designed for.

That is about the performance I am expecting. My garage is 24x24 and should be insulated by New Years (my goal). I have a propane trash can heater that quickly raises the temperature. The diesel heater is going to be the maintainer. If I need more, for the price, I will just add a second unite to have 16KW of heat.

As I recall the main unit is the same as the 5kw, but look it up

The 5KW and 8KW appear the same on the narrow chassis ones but this is the wider chassis. I have never seen a wide chassis 5KW.

Fix the exhaust pipe. It shouldn't bend down like that, as condensation can form and block the exhaust.

Interesting, I’ll have to take a look at it.

Are you sure that this heater is actually 8Kw? Labeling by the vendors is often inaccurate. You need to actually measure the size of the unit/heat exchanger. Size of the outlet is a good clue.

Hard to put much faith in the advertised output from a purveyor of Chinesium.

There’s no such thing as a 8k diesel heater in this format just relabeled 5k units marked up

That does not really surprise me. Fortunately, they are both cheap enough that it does not really matter for my application.
