Love, look at the two of us Drifting apart it seems Caught in a lonely dream Now, twisted and torn again Out on the edge we've been Can you just pull me in? And fear begins to cloud your face And common ground starts to break You say you love me anyway and I do And it's war, yeah it's war I can't escape, I'm up in flames I can't live without you And it's war, yeah it's war Love is the pain, call me by name I can't live without you Now, now I'm surrendering Hold up these empty hands Don't shoot me down again And how, how does a fool begin Something he'll never win? Tell me 'cause I don't know And it's war, yeah it's war I can't escape, I'm up in flames I can't live without you And it's war, yeah it's war Love is the pain, call me by name I can't live without you I'm not the enemy But darling I do believe You'll be the end of me I can't let you go It's the sound of fear, the sound of joy The sound of life inside the noise The sweetest sound is still your voice And it's ringing in my head And in the end just take my hand Hold me close and understand That all our hurt and all our pain, forgiven And it's war, yeah it's war I can't escape, I'm up in flames I can't live without you And it's war, yeah it's war Love is the pain, call out my name I can't live without you
Oh man. I haven’t heard from the goo goo dolls in a long time. This reminds me of Something For The Rest of Us. One of my favorite albums by them. It’s such a strong song
The vocals john expresses in this song rival any of the previous works he has done. Its incredible he is 55 and belting it out like this. I thought his previous peak was on autumn leaves from the last album miracle pill. But even that doesnt hold a candle to the vocals in this song.
These music video directors desperately trying to appeal to the youth. It’s okay to have a demographic comprised of Millennials and Gen X’ers. Appeal to us. We’ve been listening to the Dolls for decades and we’re still here loving it.
Fellas. The goo goo dolls have always been under rated. They are still aliterate in 2022. They still know how to right. They still now how to freakin sing! I’ve seen them 2 time in concert. They sound just like the album track and as far as I can tell they really sing and play the music. I like the first 2 song off the new album so far ..
@@Jane-zc2hj absolutely yes there is no comparison Linkin Park are the best then there are One Republic Eminem Thirty second to Mars One Direction Green Day and others 😁✌️

This song would sound better if JR sang the first part of the chorus ("and its war, yeah its war"...) and Robbie sang the 2nd part ("I can't escape, I'm up in flames, I can't live without you") like a call and response kind of thing.
Man, it’s a shame. The Goo Goo Dolls were one of my first favorite bands and the first ever concert I went and saw. I still love them with all my heart, but my God do I not like their new music. I know they’ve always been a pop-rock band (ever since A Boy Named Goo anyway), but I just can’t stand this new overproduced, generically written crap that they’ve been putting out these past few years. I really wish they’d go back to their more acoustic sound like Dizzy Up The Girl and Gutterflower. I get that that’s not what’s popular right now, but that’s the music that made me fall in love with them. Maybe they could do like a little EP in between these albums of just straight acoustic stuff for the fans. Idk I just hate to see one of my favorite bands of all time go so commercial. The worst part of it all is that in this song and probably others, they’ve pitch corrected the shit out of Johnny’s voice. To the point that it almost sounds robotic. That just doesn’t sit well with me at all. Johnny certainly doesn’t need it and it’s just so obvious. The producers could at least try to hide it a bit more if they’re going to use it. Likely nobody will read all of this, but on the off chance that someone does, please leave a reply and let me know what you think about all this.
