FSR 3.1 with FG is implemented on Ghost of Tsushima so good. There was overall no game breaking experience. Such a clutch feature by AMD 🔥
I have only one game installed which updated to FSR 3.1 and that is Horizon Forbidden West and I tried out and compared to DLSS 3.7.10 on my RTX 4080. And it is a huge improvement over FSR 2.2 the only problem I saw is waterfalls and running water which is not too stable against DLSS 3.7.10. I used 1440p Quality because I don't have a 4k monitor and I was lazy to connect my PC to my 4k TV. FSR 3.1 Frame Generation and even FSR 3.0 Frame Generation were/are usually gives more frames than DLSS Frame Generation and I tried many DLSS Frame Generation dll files. To be honest I saw some artifacts with FSR Frame Gen and DLSS Frame Gen too so there is no winner here, maybe FSR 3.1 because that gives more frames and now I can combine DLSS with FSR 3.1 Frame Gen so win-win.

Awesome video! I played around with it in Horizon: Forbidden West as soon as I heard it was released. I am by no means an expert in this stuff, but even to me it seemed like a pretty massive improvement over the previous upscaling methods I had tried in the game (I don't have DLSS, so I can't speak to that) and the frame generation was kinda blowing my mind being able to practically double my fps, which is truly awesome for those of us with slightly older/mid-range cards (e.g. my RX 6700 XT). Great to see I wasn't just imagining things and it really is quite an impressive update. Thanks, as always, for doing these in-depth analyses.
I love how many Nvidia people seem to spend their time watching AMD videos 🤣I've had both for years and neither was better but my AMD card was cheaper. AMD is living rent free in your heads 🤣🤣🤣
Agreed 💯% 👍🏻👍🏿 Don't listen to Nvidia biased, i love both GPUs but to be honest, AMD are much cheaper and performance almost the same on their counter part
I don't know why so many Nvidia users hate FSR 3.1, you don't have to use FSR 3.1 if you hate it so much. I don't have that many problems with FSR 3.1, it runs much better with my RX 7700XT than the old FSR 3.0 (2.1) I think it makes sense that FSR runs better with the AMD Rx 7000 cards but even on my old rx 6600 FSR 3.1runs really good ;)
Thanks again for a great video. Really love this thorough videos, where you explain and show the artifacts among the different upscaling techniques. And that you explain your personal recommendations to whether or not use upcaling with the different modes, frame generation and/or ray tracing.
It's crazy how people still have bias on big companies instead of providing positive feedback on whose company provides more in the gaming space, if another company grows big and gave better service to the consumer then provide them positive feedback, I won't nitpick what my bias on a billion dollar company.
I'll have to give it a shot soon! I hope this can make the RDNA 4 low-midrange viable for 4K gaming as a console replacement. Imagine playing at console quality on a $300 8600 XT!
For me HFW coastal areas are abysmal with FSR3.1, upscaling: waves are all smeared. Xess handles them much better. Framegen works well but only with FSR3.1, while with Xess it hitches like crazy. Hope we get a dll update soon.
Around 7:04 it appears to be doing the thing I hate when using mods on Elden Ring; it’s like scaling and depth buffer or something breaks and there’s a ghost image of whatever it perceives is in the foreground, like the character.
Awesome! My XFX 7900XTX don't need it but on the Minisforum UM790 Pro with 780M, those games that don't have native support like Diablo 4 and Hogwarts Legacy, I tried RSR (1080 -> 4K) and it looks great! With FG on, I was able to get very playable fps in Diablo (90), HL (88) now with decent quality and not a blurry mess. This is after some tweaking of settings where I set everything LOW except for High texture. For Robocop with FSR3.0, the upscaling still looks awful even though I can get 120fps with FG. Very excited and looking forward for more games to get FSR3.1 support so weaker hardware can be used.
Testing Horizon Forbidden West using FSR3 Frame Gen right now. I love this. In 1440p, XeSS Ultra Quality w/ Frame Gen gives me the best results so far. FSR3 upscaler is an improvement over FSR2.2, but sadly the image still looks particularly pixelated on the borders as before. It's consistently the case with every other game so maybe it is something to do with the algorhythm? I'm not sure.
EDIT: Also, remember that is way harder to see the differences on video as it is recorded, then compressed in the editing software, and then compressed by TH-cam, still, the quality improvements can be seen.

We may see START of this not long ahead, with RX 8800XT (even now RX 7900 GRE is not that far behind RTX 4070, these are basicaly on pair in RT - 4070 have better result with High RT, but in the end also too small FPS (with that high RT) to comfortable play, so both cards are not for High RT settings).
Glad you got better man. Thanks for an awesome post ❤@hombre-lusitano3414
@@hombre-lusitano3414I im not going to read all that ❤🗣️🔥🙏
Great comparison, thanks for the video. Showing how much it differs from game to game which one is working better was surprising!
Fsr3 frame gen gave me a lot of stuttering and spikes in forbidden West and it was anti lag.. Disabling anti lag and my game fixed itself too.
Anti lag should always be off unless you're having specific issues
@@AncientGameplays You have it off globally? I should specify for SP games.
wow this is great! i am building my rx 7900 xtx build tomorrow and was watching your ghost of tsushima video only a few days ago wondering when fsr 3.1 will release lol. great timing
Congratulations on the beast gpu build.😊
just curious why do you need fsr 3.1, because I too have a 7900xtx and it rocks GoT at 4K so at the moment I see no real reason to use fsr
@@tanthokgfuture proof i guess
FSR 3.1 with FG is implemented on Ghost of Tsushima so good.
Believe me or not I managed to finish it on my ancient GTX 1050ti @1080p,low, 50-60fps that also without much of any issue like little to no input lag and shimmering. There was overall no game breaking experience.
Such a clutch feature by AMD 🔥
Was waiting for this. Great man. ❤ Expecting comparison with dlss 😢
Yeah, they need to improve that now
I need to say this, if I ever, ever buy an AMD card, it's going to be because of you brother! 💪💪💪💪💪💪
haters of fsr 3.1 here probably just dlss fanboys
Is.... that a thing? 😅
@@michaelmcconnell7302you'd be surprised.
@@michaelmcconnell7302 yeah it is specially those who try to justify why rtx 4060 exist when in reality a lot of cheapo amd cards that cost as much as a 4060 with more vram is more efficient than those gimmicky dlss with fg that you can achieve free of charge with any graphics card with fsr 3.1
Or they might actually prefer proper ML based upscalers instead of a static filter.
Thanks for covering this!!
I really like, that Sony's Games always have an option for every Upscaling Method!
Also the latest Mesa Drivers for AMD Cards on Linux are awesome and now FSR 3.1! Hope more Games enable it! + It's Steam Summer Sale! What a time to be alive.
You produce great content ty
thank you, always glad to have awesome people here :D
Great video. I would like to see what happens when using 4k as native. Should be very interesting.
It is actually better now; Ghost of Tsushima has good FSR implementation.
Although some games like Ratchet and Clank FSR 3.1 is worse than 2.2, image is way more unstable for some reason...
Far from more unstable, I remembwr fsr 2.2 well, and I don't think that's the case, couls be better though
If FSR 3.1 was more unstable in Ratchet and Clank than FSR 2.2 it would literally be pixel soup, FSR 2.2 did *not* look good in that game.
@@HunterTracks same in spiderman, they said it will fix shimmering but the buildings still shimmer the same, sweet amd lies.
I see a fanboy creeping out of the closet
Now this is what you call improvement. Much appreciated 👏
and needs to get much better as FSR 3.1 added more ghosting (needs to be fixed ASAP) and works poorly with water
AMD grate job, continue in the same direction 👍
Fabio where is the insert at the beginning of the video?
Sometimes there's one, sometimes not really
I believe in AMD Jesus Supremacy. Fabio es mi pastor, nada me falta.
Gracias por este vídeo, justo ando viendo cuál GPU compraré para sustituir mi 5600 XT 🙈
"Fabio es mi pastor, nada me falta." Dude, I laughed here haha
😂😂😂
Exactly what my testing shows much better image quality.
AMD Jesus!!! 😄
I love how fsr3 helps get rid of the antialiasing. I could not remove the horrible AA in Gta 5 without hurting performance so i got the puredark gta 5 mod which enables fsr3 and it fixed the AA issue
Nixxes is seriously the GOAT
Nixxes kind of does with ports what Bluepoint does with remakes. I always expect high quality work from them.
I wish they have ported TLoUp1. Honestly at this point i wish they port EVERY game in the future.
Hopefully it'll be as good and dlss
It's really close in some cases, better in terms of frame generation IMO
@@AncientGameplays 👍
@toonnut1 tbh not even close.
It's probably going to be close at higher resolutions when it's implemented well but won't look as good at lower resolutions.
I kinda expected a bit more, but better is better. Hope the next big update won't take as long.
AMD is the best
👎
Nga what?@@ICANTLOLW
@@ICANTLOLW mad ?
Agreed 💯% 👍🏻👍🏿
Don't listen to Nvidia biased, i love both GPUs but to be honest, AMD are much cheaper and performance almost the same on their counter part
thanks for what youre doing! I always watch your videos!
I don't know why so many Nvidia users hate FSR 3.1, you don't have to use FSR 3.1 if you hate it so much. I don't have that many problems with FSR 3.1, it runs much better with my RX 7700XT than the old FSR 3.0 (2.1) I think it makes sense that FSR runs better with the AMD Rx 7000 cards but even on my old rx 6600 FSR 3.1runs really good ;)
Because it destroys their entire reason for having dumped their 3080s for 4070 ti Supers and so on

Will come soon, but why does everything needs to be compared wirh dlss exactly?
@@AncientGameplaysSo we can have a good overview. I think other channels will be doing them soon. Can't wait for yours Fabio
Well you are not simply ''OBJECTİVE'' ı meant to be say AMD fan.
@@ragnaros3042 I am more than objective, you're not making sense
@@AncientGameplays lol, ofc you are :). Well paid by AMD.
the fact we don't even need to use upscaling in these games for frame generation is HUGE. Hopefully a trend that continues in the future.
Fsr 3.1 is always like this.
I think it's a nice update, let's hope amd will be consistent on future updates
Thank you. ❤
Excellent news!👏
You are happier than AMD!
i can see you have legacy of kain on steam .u have my respect sir .great video
Love legacy of kain
Thanks again for a great video. Really love this thorough videos, where you explain and show the artifacts among the different upscaling techniques. And that you explain your personal recommendations to whether or not use upcaling with the different modes, frame generation and/or ray tracing.
thank you, always glad to have awesome people here :D
It's crazy how people still have bias on big companies instead of providing positive feedback on whose company provides more in the gaming space, if another company grows big and gave better service to the consumer then provide them positive feedback, I won't nitpick what my bias on a billion dollar company.
good upscaling from 720p makes the 7600XT a shockingly viable gpu for a lot more use cases now
I wish they would do an Ultra Quality setting instead of starting at quality, there are a lot of games where I just barely need upscaling.
this is exciting. i wonder what future upscalers can deliver. this is free F'n performance. 3 more generations and 4k 1Khz could be a reality.
Be great when all games take advantage of this properly.
I'll have to give it a shot soon! I hope this can make the RDNA 4 low-midrange viable for 4K gaming as a console replacement. Imagine playing at console quality on a $300 8600 XT!
Played Horizon briefly, noticed they added an Xess Ultra Quality+ option, first time I've ever saw that.
because with XeSS 1.3:
Quality = Ultra Quality
Ultra Quality = Ultra Quality +
It's way better than I expected. Really giving DLSS3 a run for its money.
love the fsr native aa, gave games best quality🥰
I loved how fsr 3.1 looks in Horizon Forbidden west and ghost of tsushima, 90% of the shimmering is gone.
Our Man coming in with the news 📰 boys.
i hope more game use fsr 3.1, i really wanna see this with rdna 3.5 handheld pc
Much needed FSR quality boost at 1440p.. Maybe i will use it now with my 7800xt to get into high refresh range in new games.
Is a huge improvement, and not beign tied to a series of cards like nvidia, it will get even better over time.
I would pay for this to be included in every single game.
Excited to see adrenaline 24.6.1 video
For me HFW coastal areas are abysmal with FSR3.1, upscaling: waves are all smeared. Xess handles them much better.
Framegen works well but only with FSR3.1, while with Xess it hitches like crazy.
Hope we get a dll update soon.
Interesting, its the ghosting I talked about it seems. The lower the render res the worse it gets. 4k performance and above should look well
Around 7:04 it appears to be doing the thing I hate when using mods on Elden Ring; it’s like scaling and depth buffer or something breaks and there’s a ghost image of whatever it perceives is in the foreground, like the character.
Loving the content in 1440 ulta wide resolution. Thanks for using that resolution as ot fills my monitor. 😅
I feel you haha
Keep it up AMD. I'm on team Nvidia for now because of horrible experiences in the past with their GPUs, but we need competition in general.
