Great vid but wonder if anyone can help with this anomaly after re-engaging.
Mine's a brand new garage door... I re-engaged the part that pulls back the garage door but it the door is only half closing?! i.e. I note the white part (that engages the black metal mechanism) is stopping about two feet away from where it should - hence the door no longer shutting.
I definitely haven't broken anything but that white part refuses to travel back to it's original position. Any help welcome...!

@@beejj6190 thats the open and shut limits issue. There are dials on the side of my opener box to adjust these

My condolences to you and your family Sara !! I know life can be cruel at times but always cherish the times you did have with your dad cause my wife never even met her dad. He left her and her mom when she was just a baby and started a whole new family with another woman !!
My dad also passed away recently so now I have to do the handyman work as well. Ig we came here for the same reason ha ha. Whatever you’re going through I hope you feel better and get stronger as a result! The sadness never completely goes away but you definitely see yourself getting stronger every day!

My power went out yesterday (yes, again, here in the DFW area), so I had to disengage my garage door in order to get out to go to a cool place until the power came back on. This video helped me get my garage door back engaged and functional!

Omigosh--two days with no power, one of the springs is broken on my garage door opener, so I couldn't get the door up by myself without power. And now I came home at midnight and found out we have electricity. We've had a lot of break-ins on cars in the driveway so I really wanted to get my car into the garage, however, I couldn't reengage the garage opener mechanism. I quickly googled the problem how to reengage a garage opener after disabling it, and came across your video and it was so simple and direct. Thank you so much thank you thank you thank you. I am elderly, single woman who has to figure everything out by myself, but some of these things are too hard for me to do or I don't have the knowledge to figure it out.

You, sir, are a girl's best friend. The door was closed. I pulled the red handle to the door. The door started up but stopped. It had come loose somehow. So I pushed the button and the chain went all the way forward to the down position. Pushed the button again and on the way back up I saw the gizmo on the door go front to back into the gizmo on the chain and there was a satisfying CLICK and I'm in back in business. Hugs and kisses!

Great tip actually for those who don't know. I work for M&M Garage Doors. Alot of calls back in the day about this but most people have read the manual we leave as every company does. But yeah great advice. Don't call us for this lol please.
But also of you refuse to read an owners manual (WHICH ALWAYS GARENTEES HELP) then yeah call to solve this. Don't mess around and break your door when it's simply in unlatched to the opener mode.

Didn't work when the garage was in closed position, but your technique worked when my door was up and all the way back at the opener then I pulled it towards the front. It worked.
