    One of the best moments in the series: six huge horses in the hitch, Alyssa trying to give them commands, and they're standing solid as rocks, looking at each other as if to say, "Ya hear that, mate? Wot's she goin' on about? We're meant to be workin' heah." Wonderful!

    In answer to your question: Yes, I have met some Aussie Drafts. Certainly not the show ponies of the draft breeds, but can't be faulted for what they were bred for; tough enough to cover mile upon mile of rough country with a great work ethic and disposition. They may not be oil paintings, but they get the job done with a minimum of fuss.

    • @ianstewart-koster9982
      @ianstewart-koster9982 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The Aussie harness used in teams like this is fairly different from the typical Amish or North American harness. Winkers, collars and hames are both comparable, but the rest of Aussie team harness is minimal.
      Eg here Aleks uses no backbands, and chain traces, with pullleyblock eveners. The back row of horses don't need reins with this system.
      Amish systems tend to have a lot more harness on every horse, including back pads, girths, back straps and breeching, plus leather or webbing traces.

    • @bernadettecartin
      @bernadettecartin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ianstewart-koster9982I thought the question was about the farm equipment/machinery rather than the harness. I would expect that to be pretty similar, but even that might vary because of differences in the sort of ground they might be working.

      @@joannesmartens9442 Nee, jij schrijft draft horse. Het maakt niet uit of je de Britse of Amerikaanse spelling gebruikt, beide zijn correct. Zelf gebruikt ik meestal de Britse spelling (draught dus) omdat dat is wat ik op school geleerd heb.
      De Amerikanen hebben hun spelling vereenvoudigd. Dit zie je bij meer woorden: hiccup ipv hiccough, harbor ipv harbour, etc. Zoals gezegd is de VS het enige land dat officieel de Amerikaanse spelling gebruikt. Zelfs Canada volgt de Britse spelling (wat eigenlijk een rare term is, gezien het gewoon de oorspronkelijke spelling is die iedereen behalve de Amerikanen gebruikt).

    Obviously with the British settling in Australia, there would have been no Horses there originally, Britain would have imported the Clydesdale , Shire, and Suffolk Punch Horses and maybe the Belgian Horse imported so the Australian Draught is a mixture or cross breeding of all of these , so this makes them a Hy-breed ,not really an original breed
