Hello everyone, and welcome back to another iceberg video! This time, I will be diving into one of the most popular Indie games of all time, which is also a game that needs no introduction.
This iceberg, created by u/FDipper, features roughly 125 entries, with 6 individual Tiers, and I will try my best to explain as many of them as I can!
As always with these kinds of videos, mistakes are a natural part of the cycle. So if I did miss anything, overlook anything, or just outright got anything wrong, please feel free to correct me in the comment section!
Another thing, apologies if this video is a little bit shorter. I couldn't find a bigger iceberg than this on TBOI, but I hope a ~35 minute video can suffice since the usual work is much longer.

About Isaac:

Video Corrections:
1. Jesus Juice is most likely referring to communion, where Baptist churches use grape juice as a substitute for wine, and not a Brazilian drink.
2. (Addendum, partial correction), I forgot to mention the crawl space that spawns when using the chaos card on Gideon
3. Adding onto the blue womb layer, the entry is correct, but is most likely on the iceberg because of the combat music that can't be heard on it normally
4. When saying "second boss item" at 11:30, I wasn't talking directly about the boss item pool, but I can definitely understand why people may have thought that I was, so that is a legitimate piece that needs correcting. Bumbino spawns an item from his own item pool.
5. Brimstone is actually in TF2, and when talking about them collectively, I made it sound like all 3 of the items mentioned weren't in the game. (I don't play TF2)
6. Tainted Lazarus, at the time of this icebergs creation, was legitimately unfinished. It's referring to the original character when Repentance came out, which was much harder than it is now.
7. Addendum to Tainted Edith, yes they did turn into salt for running from Sodom, but it was also because they looked back at Sodom during its destruction.

Also, if you comment about the video having things wrong, but don't actually say what is incorrect, that is not helpful and I will ignore your comment.

46:36 Edith was actually turned into salt for looking back at Sodom, which supposedly represented that she wanted to go back to sinning (since Sodom is considered a wicked city).
Small correction: Blue womb's layer actually refers to how music will get another layer if enemies in the room are really strong (not sure if it depends on how many of them are in the room, or on their hp). Blue womb's theme also has a music layer, but since there are no enemies on this floor you will probably never hear it ingame.
It doesn't have to be a strong enemy, just any enemy. For example, while the blue womb's extra layer will play in enemy-filled red rooms opened by red key on the treasure rooms, it will also play in crawlspaces with simple enemies, including the awful grey fly room.

Regarding Bob. The whole "Father's brother" thing is just Edmund's way of saying Bob's your uncle, which is a famous saying.

the fact that the VAs for Isaac, Magdelene, and Dad, are all related to each other in the same way as the characters they play is honestly so heartwarming. I hope everything goes right for all three of them. their voices add so much to the parts of the game that mean the most to me.

I believe that Tainted Lazarus, at the time of the iceberg’s creation, was indeed unfinished, since flip lacked functionality and thus the character was unbalanced and nearly impossible to properly play. After flip got its functionality implemented, T Lazarus turned into a much more fun, more balanced character due to being able to get items for both lazaruses

Actually, i wonder if the "snail sprite" might be referring to the slow status effect symbol. As silly as that sounds, i personally never realized it was a snail until someone watching over my shoulder asked "what does that snail mean?" I was confused "what snail" until she pointed it out to me.
Also t. Laz being unfunished js certainly true if this iceberg is old. He did get a change with the Flip buff, but I still hate the character a lot.

The snail sprite is probably a reference to an old spriting tutorial by Leathericecream (who worked on antibirth and repentance) where he drew a snail as the example sprite
I hope for a part 2. there are so MANY things that can be added. The Isaac 2 baby, the Wait, What? item swapping with butter to force its spawn, the Dad's Coin being a soberty coin. And so on...

I think Blue Womb Layer might also be a reference to the nerve looking overlay that appears on screen during the Hush fight whenver it takes damage, in normal gameplay it looks barely noticeable but when using an instakill item like Plan C is actually goes to 100% opacity and looks very ominous

*"eternal return" is likely refering to the wrath of the lamb free dlc "The Binding of Isaac: Eternal Edition" or "Eternal Update", this dlc added a hard mode that had a very hard versions of enemies and bosses that were white (like champions), you can check more on the wiki. it also may be an allusion to the mod that got made for repentence about the eternal edition that if i recall correctly got kinda popular.
*"jesus juice actual meaning" could also be related to wine, like said in the trivia on the rebirth wiki ""Jesus juice" is slang for the red wine used in Holy Communion, which is supposed to signify the blood of Jesus. When children take communion, instead of letting them have wine, most churches will let them have grape juice instead, which is why the item is a box of grape juice.". this also is kind of hinted in the item description but it could be all of the references (didnt knew the Michael Jackson thing, just searched it and... damn that's a lot-)

I'm pretty sure I saw a reddit post from a few years ago that showed that breakfast is hard coded to spawn when the game has no valid item to spawn, so it isn't a bug

The dads note theory is very interesting seeing as it allows Issac to go back up to home and unlock Tainted characters because Isaac has been Tainted by the idea of suicide, very interesting (potential) secret that I hadn’t thought about.

FYI: Mom’s last name “Moriah” also comes from the Bible, but no one seems to mention that or discuss the meaning behind the Biblical word. Unthorough people just think that Edmund simply chose a random name that started with an M, so the the initials would say “MOM.”

wasnt stated in the video alongside the other two easter egg seeds, but modesven is a reference to mode seven on the SNES, which was a special graphical mode that allowed for the most features for displaying advanced graphics at the cost of only having two background layers at your disposal, however they boast the highest bits per pixel (BBP), which is effectively a measure of how many colors you can have on that layer, with layer zero having 8 BBP and layer one having 7 BBP, meaning layer 0 can use 255 colors and layer 1 having 127 colors (technically 254 and 126 because index 0 of any given color palette is treated as being transparent)

In the time of Constantine (3-4th century A.D.), a previous emperor named Aurelian began a sort of monotheistic cult to a sun god after having claiming to have had a vision of the god before winning multiple battles. This got a little conflated with Christianity when Constantine did something similar to Aurelian: he claimed to have a vision where he was told by God to bear the symbol of the cross and conquer in his name. HOWEVER, Christianity was founded and thriving before either of these guys.

The glitch hell I actually experienced
I was playing wrath of the lamb on a site that used ruffle to play the game.
Any time I played it until a month after I started, would make me deal with glitch hell as my normal floors, 4 doors in every room and I couldn’t see anything EXEPCT for items, poops, pick ups, bosses, health, health bar, and fires
From what I understand the pumpkin mask was meant to work like krampus's head. The undefined glitch in flash isaac would show the sprite of every item in the game, including the pumpkin mask item that could never actually be accessed.

The meaning of Jesus juice is that, in most of the churches, they don't use wine during the holy supper (idk if this is the right name), so they use grape juice to symbolize the wine (blood of Christ)
Bob being Isaac's father's brother is prob a reference to the idiomatic expression "Bob's your uncle"
Finally, I have no idea why no one ever did a repetance isaac iceberg, BD1P did an iceberg video once but It was before repentance
With Isaac being the lamb, at around 12:00, I'm pretty sure edmun has said that every single enemy in the game is Isaac, every creature and thing is all just Isaac, even if it doesn't clearly resemble them.
i assume that every male monster (except maybe daddy long legs, and possibly the angels) is Isaac, and every female monster (and also Satan + his incarnations) are mom
Some exceptions may occur like delirium being the hallucinations from suffocating In the chest, dogma being the Christian TV channels, and maybe dingle being Isaac shitting himself, Chad being Chad from super meat boy (also other monsters from Edmunds other games and smb) Larry(?) Being a maggot that's probably eating his corpse, Bob being the uncle, and probably some bosses like widow could potentially be spiders crawling inside the chest
TLDR: the enemies represent Isaacs fears, and his views of himself
That was his original idea, but it got scrapped, so I guess it is still a valid claim to make if Edmund does confirm that something is Isaac

great video but i have an idea what to do insead of just "iceberg heart meter". You can have 12 hearts in isaac in two rows and there is a lot of different types of them so why dont use that. Just make that into two meters with 6 heart containers as a confidence meter and 6 soulhearts as a data completeness meter. Something like challenge 45? 6 red 6 blue hearts, it exists and we know everything we need to know. Void rework? 6 red 0 blue, it was confirmed but we know nothing more than that. Something like self game end note theory? We have a lot of information but we cant tell if its true with much confidence. 1 red 5 blue
Cool idea, but that might be too complicated for an average viewer to keep up with. I like keeping it simple to a certain degree
@@gmdblue fair but still, icebergs videos are an hour long so there is a lot of time to grasp the concept, almost every game with enough content to even make the iceberg have two bars somewhere, and that would be a unique addition that would make your videos stand out from the other iceberg you tubers. It doesn't hurt to experiment a little bit :3
@@kontousuniente4952 True, which is why I liked the d6 idea, it seemed like a fresh enough spin on the meter idea. I thought about doing soul hearts, black hearts, and whatever else but the last 2 vids used hearts and I wanted to put some more variety

It was so jarring hearing Leather be mentioned, I used to be friends with him wayyy back when he did mainly just creepypasta videos (circa 2015 or so?), would talk to him like every day on Skype haha. Never had a falling out, just simply stopped talkin after a while, wonder how he's doing. It's so cool to see he's became a huge part of Isaac, I remember him making some videos about the game way back then, never knew he was on the actual Repentance team. Small world!

Great video, but I think you shouldent use modded footage (such as the Lego studs for coins) in these type of videos, as It can be confusing for newer players as to what’s in the game and what’s modded/added by you/community
