I find it funny that so many people complain about too much luxury and want a plain truck. Most people will complain about the custom, but you get more value. I wish there was a wrapped steering wheel, but they limit the options. Chevy wants to force you into higher trims. Apple car play, 8 way power seats, It is enough for me. My issue is at almost 60k, I would almost pay the extra to get the LT.
As someone who works out of their truck a more durable interior of the Custom trim is more appealing. I’d like a nicer trim, but that’ll happen when I’m not in the field and have crews working for me.
This is basically a work truck with a 2 inch lift and black wheels 57,000 MSRP even though here in Tennessee you can find them priced around 53 to 54 for the 2023 it's still a work truck in my book

@@JohnDoeByChoice congratulations on your new truck you must have went with the Lt trail boss much nicer than the custom trail boss and 11,000 off MSRP you did great

No, you can’t. You can buy a custom 2.7L. A trail boss, absolutely not. This is wrong information. If you could buy a new Trailboss custom in the mid 40s, I would own one.
I got a 2023 custom 1500 crew cab 4x4 glacier blue on memorial day sale. After the sale price and chevy incentives i paid 38,900. Thats it and i love. It has 2.7 turbo and it will get up and go. 9000 towing is plenty for me.
I was in Detroit last weekend. There was an almost loaded ZR2 in the lobby at the GM Headquarters building listed at $68,000. Now, I’m not sure you could actually buy one on a lot for that price but for the extra $10m you would certainly be getting a much nicer truck!
Was really considering purchasing a newTrail Boss, but have heard so much negative on the 5.3 and 6.2 agm issues (cam, lifters, valve train, etc)... I decided to pass. Not sure what's better though, Ram and Ford same deal, apparently...
I understand what you’re saying but for the hundreds of thousands of trucks on the road with these engines the percentage of them with failures is small. You won’t hear from all the folks who’ve had no problems, usually. All of that said, I had a 5.3 that I put 77,000 miles on in five years and a 6.2 that I’ve put 13,000 miles on since May and (*knocks on wood) no issues.
I almost bought this exact truck, but I just could not justify the price point and Custom trim level. You are basically getting a work truck/fleet truck trim level. I think Chevy could honestly add a few features and really make this more acceptable. A leather wrapped steering wheel and even a heated seats option, would only add around a 1,000, If that. Unfortunately, Chevy pushes you into higher trim levels. Ford at least uses the new generation trucks on the STX package. I hate that these manufacturers give you either bare bones or upgrade to a 10k more truck. It is annoying.
Ok I don’t have a trail boss Silverado but my dad has a 22 custom trail boss and the wind pushes him around a lot and the traction control goes on and off. Is anyone else having this problem? Edit: my dad was now trying to go on vacation but his esc wasn’t working, traction control still wasn’t working, and then the check engine light came on. He took it to our local Chevy dealer to get it checked and it turns out, the the most common problem on the Silverado v8’s, the lifters. The lifters broke and now the fuel injectors don’t work properly. If your Silverado rough when idling, it’s a fuel injector issue.
Almost $60k for an entry level truck???! Are you kidding me?😄 I can’t wait to see a bunch of dealerships go out of business, this is definitely getting ridiculous. This truck, with all the inflation considered, should NOT cost more than $45k. People should just not give in to this bs and wait out until car manufacturers and dealers are forced to reduce their ridiculous prices.
Awesome review as always , I'll be honest it's an amazing truck but HD trucks can keep up with this mpg level and being you can find some in this price point they just make for a better buy ... for the working guy at least lol
I like the rugged styling but that’s it. Fisher Price plastic interior. They had major lifter failure with active fuel management. (4cyl mode). I believe these new models have dynamic fuel management where it can run on 1 cylinder! I’ll take a 21 Tundra with the tried & true V8. Sure the MPGs suck but it’ll go 400k miles.
Unfortunately, the new Chevy V-8 with the stupid fuel management system (or whatever it's called) has become legendary for problems & grenading lifters. It would probably be a great truck if it weren't for over complicated useless tech.
I want one really bad!!! Too bloody expensive. Gonna have to get used. 60$ k for a basic four wheel drive truck is insane. The LT is 64$k. It looks so much nicer for only five grand more but still. Jeez
