That and Superman: The Animated Series were the best Versions of both characters ever I mean it's what defined the modern DCU as we know it they're pretty much still THOSE versions from Paul Dini. He's the best DC writer ever IMO. Scott Snyder is awesome on Batman too but Dini is the top dawg

Ty robinson Legacy characters are just mantles that are taken up by various characters over time so the concept of the hero and their title is still there but the person under the mask is different and bringing their own spin to the mantle. Robin is probably the single most prominent and probably even the first legacy character to have ever existed. It's also the most unique because instead of coming into it as a final stop it's more of a proving ground to graduate from as you find yourself. Anyways yeah legacy characters are great when done properly.

I'll agree that future's end was a mess, I kind of liked its concept at first. It just seemed to retcon itself alot durings its run using time travel as a vice, even when it didn't make sense. First gotham was completely destroyed, then it was hidden until tim drake came along and inadvertently reveal it. Now gotham was attacked but still saved and bruce was lost during the first conflict which creates a paradox on how terry was sent to the past to warn about brother eye's eventual rise.

DC didn't need to bring back the Joker. DC is going to write itself into corner, then have to retcon Batman Beyond. The fans want to see new villains for Terry, not just Batman's villains - many who should be dead by now.

When I was younger, I was getting ready for school and I remember, if you were lucky, you could always catch a glimpse of the morning cartoons. I remember I cheekily wanted to see what was on one morning even though we were running late. Once I had the TV turned on, all I remember seeing where these huge mechanical wheels destroying buildings followed by "too be continued" in white bold writing. I narrowly caught the shows credits to find out what the show was called, just before my mom turned off the TV and hurried me off to school. I remember just being completely dumbstruck. From that short few seconds, I was in awe. It just resonated with me so much, it epitomised everything that I love and I still can't really understand why. It was later that I found out it was the justice league animated show with the episode with the war wheels. The internet then became a thing and I went about watching and rewatching every episode. The whole comic world became open to me and I still to this day can't get enough. I always think, what if my mum had have turned the TV off a fraction earlier and I would have never found out what show I was watching.
rob did a great job with the build up on this. usually I listen to these while doing something else, and without the images I was caught completely off guard about the twist at the end. this was really cool and a lot better than how the joker returned in the cartoon, imo at least
Batman Beyond(Terry McGinnis) is one of my favorite DC heroes. I always found Terry to be relatable and thought he was a great Batman. I also grew up with Batman Beyond as well.

I really liked this show, and was so sad when terry died in futures end and was replaced by tim drake. for months I distanced myself from batman beyond and ignored it in comic book stores. then i bought it. and it blew my mind. terry mcginnis will always be batman beyond, and I am ecstatic that he is back, but dan jurgens' run on tim drake batman beyond is probably the most underrated new 52 title, beating out books like justice league 3000. for those that haven't read the tim drake era as batman, I highly recommend that you do. it is really worth checking out. there are only three volumes so it's not very long, but it is a blast.

In the Batman Beyond cartoon I thought the suit looked pretty cool. But out side the cartoons art style it just looks like. I don't know why, but any of the more realistic art of it just doesn't do it for me. I'd love for them to reboot the Beyond cartoon. Could have the same people from Young Justice work on it.

Not going to lie, I'm glad the Joker corpse didn't turn out to be the actual Joker. The death of the Joker from the Batman Beyond film was sooooooo much more interesting than the concept of the "death' Joker presented in this comic. I'd go as far to say that the whole last battle and death of the Joker segment in BB:Return of the Joker is one of the best Batman Joker moments ever, comics, cartoons, and film. Though I'm interested to see how the Joker has returned. I don't want them to retcon that death. The original death was so well done.

Batman Beyond takes place on Earth 12/DCAU. Earth 12 (Post-Flashpoint) is very similar or identical to the DCAU (DC animated universe) (at least on Batman Beyond material). So Earth 12 and DCAU can be considerate the same universe. On the new 52 Futures end, Batman Beyond was brought to Prime Earth (Earth 0) (at least an posible future), and this Batman was a total reboot from the original, until DC rebirth were the Timeline was rewritten and this new Terry Mcginiss was similar to his DCAU/ Earth 12 counterpart. On Infinity crisis and The 52 was Earth-12 (Post-Crisis/Pre-Flashpoint) that was the Batman Beyond universe, but it wasn’t relegated to the DCAU/ Earth 12.
