HEY BEFORE YOU WATCH BANANA FISH, be aware it covers mature themes such as gang violence, drug abuse, rape, and child pornography. Please do not think its a darker Yuri on Ice bc the main characters look like Yuuri and Yuri. If you cant handle these themes, i wouldnt reccomend watching it as great of a story it is. Sincerely, a manga reader.
Noted. Thanks for the warning. I think I'll pass on this one, then. Gang violence and drug abuse don't phase me, but the other two...they bother me a lot.
Cells at Work has to be the BLOODIEST anime I have ever watched. Seriously there are so few frames where there isn't blood on screen in some form or another.
Ended up reading Banana fish because of this video. Thanks! Best manga I've read in a while (so hooray! another empty void feeling after a too-short good series.)
It ran for 9 years. Funny, at the time Banana Fish was seen as a relatively long (some even said too long) manga, but I guess expectations change. It's a shame not all of the side stories were translated (Viz really should have done a deluxe edition when the anime came out not just reprinting the old editions, but they had never sold well in English so maybe they were nervous). Also, too bad that more Akimi Yoshida titles haven't been translated--she really covers a huge number of genres, but is always brilliant.
Honestly Banana Fish looks most intriguing and I love the art direction, really excited for it and I really wish anime would aim for that quality and style more! Adored that nod to Kids on the Slope too (plus that fantastic Goofy Movie edit in) :)
sanha kim wait, you're the decade guy? ^^ Also, Isekai Smartphone's "giving absolutely no fuck" policy is, what makes it so great. Just going full power-fantasy Edit: just realized, the decade guy was at Joey's video. Well, whatever
Yall go watch BANANA FISH! Just to make it clear, it’s NOT yaoi and it’s nothing like yuri on ice, not even close. The story is super lit and the animation quality is really really good so I would definitely recommend you to at least check it out :)
I've been watching and enjoying Banana Fish, Harukana Receive, Hanebado, Cells at Work, and Angels of Death so far. I haven't heard of Angolmois before this video but that definitely sounds up my alley so I've gotta check that out too.
Super glad you mentioned Angels of Death (even if it wasn't in the top 10). I genuinely love its story and the character bond between the two protagonists is something that develops over time and really becomes something iconic. Also PLANET WITH AND REVUE STARLIGHT ARE SO GOOD
@@kenshin1644, I can understand that one. Every time Zack laughs I want nothing more than for something, anything, to make him stop. I've read in several different places that that's a huge reason, but I'm sure it is far from the only one. The first episode is something of a shitshow if I'm being completely realistic. It presents the insanity of the show in a very brash, jarring sort of way without explaining very much of it in a way that is satisfactory. In time, it makes sense, though. It's an anime I would say needs 5 episodes to really try to persuade you it's worth your time. Unfortunately, I am aware that, in this day and age, that's not something that will convince anyone to watch a show, but I'd be lying if I tried to pass off the first episode as something amazing. 2 and 3 help to sell it better, but it didn't hit it's stride until 4, in my opinion. This means it's a bit of an investment for anyone interested, but it was worth it for me, and, if you're willing and able, I hope it will turn out that way for you, too. If the will is not there, I can completely understand that, also. It's definitely not a show for everyone!
I think gigguk waits like 3-5 episodes in all of the anime of the season to make a video and that's understandable because you cant *always* judge an anime off of its first 3 episodes(i mean look at violet evergarden everyone thought it sucked at first...not me. I loved it.)
no one cares about this name Yeah, I like that these early videos help to sort the promising shows from the ones that seem like they're going to be mediocre or worse, but I think the more important videos in the long-run are those that analyse a season after it's finished airing, since nobody in the future is going to care if a show looks good after one episode, they'll want to know if the series as a whole is worth watching. These early videos Andy MudanTV's watch or not videos are really helpful at the time though, new seasons would be pretty overwhelming without them.
Glad I watched this. Revue Starlight went totally under my radar. Planet With and Grand Blue almost went under my radar as well, and I know that they have been missed by many others, so I'm glad you caught them and featured them here.
You should just put the name and logo for where to watch the anime in a corner of the screen. That way you don't have to fit it into the script. It also makes it a lot easier for the viewers to remember where we can watch it and easier for you guys to remember to do it.
Okay, as someone who generally isn't interested in gangster movies or 80s movies, Banana Fish was SO good. The first few episodes were alright, but at some point you genuinely start caring about what happens to Ash and Eiji and the others, and THAT is when the show starts really hitting home. Also the developing friendship... romance... thingy between Ash and Eiji was spectacular and felt really natural.
Revue Starlight is directed by a protege of Ikuhara (the director of Utena and Penguindrum.) Hence why it feels like Utena in so many ways. It's gonna be good.
Personally, I´ll be watching - Asobi Asobase (most misleading op of the season) - Banana Fish - Chuukan Kanriroku Tonegawa (YES PLEASE GO WATCH KAIJI) - Grand Blue - Hanebado! - Hataraku Saibou - Satsuriku no Tenshi - Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight - Tenrou: Sirius the Jaeger (I've only seen the first ep but it looked pretty damn good) And after this I will give Harukana Receive and Planet With a shot

It feels like what you'd get if you took KonoSuba, stripped most of the effort dedicated to clever writing, and re-purposed it for fan-service. I'm not saying that's the WORST thing ever, but it's certainly... something.
Sage Emerald Not much has happened, but I am invested somehow. The main characters meloncholy and depression are interesting and I'm waithing to see them break
Cool, I would like to see Mother's Basement's opinion on the show. I like it, but then again, I never know whats good until others spell it out for me.
I can't watch subs due to vision problems so I was REALLY hoping funi would get the simuldub for the show I'm hyping on most this season Banana Fish - LOVE Mappa's works
Some interesting picks for early favorites in the season. Really agree with some. Vehemently disagree with others. So a very good grouping as a whole! Even a season like this has some top notch selections. 1. Grand Blue - Not bad. Not unbelievable, but I'm keeping an eye on it. 2. Asobi - Will have to check it out. 3. Banana Fish - So far I'm liking it. Well done first episode. Ash is cool. The other male lead...he's not terrible. 4. Harukana Receive - Surprisingly one of my favorites of the season so far. Yet PLOT, but they also add in likable characters, good sports themes, and some surprisingly good emotional scenes. A really good show so far. 5. Angolmois - Also really shocked me. I expected little from this show. But the first episode was strong and I'm hyped for more. 6. Cells at Work - So much fun! The characters are both cool, cute, and sometimes hardcore. Utterly brutal and hilarious. 7. Tonegawa - Still need to check it out. 8. Hanebado - This is one I'm completely on the opposite side of the fence. It's a beautiful show and the sport side is great. But the characters suck. They legitimately suck on the human level. The team captain is an abusive lunatic. Her best friend both tolerates and thus allows her abusive tendencies to get out of control, their club supervisor also apparently sucks at supervising anything, the coach is using high school girls to fulfill his failed personal ambitions at the Olympics, and the young prodigy feels like a victim dragged into the whole thing against her will. 9. Revue - Still haven't seen it. 10. Planet With - Also one that very much isn't in my interests. Something about that show just annoyed me and I don't have good feelings about where it is going to end up.
I haven't watched Hanebado yet, but I'm hoping I disagree with you, since badminton, as weird as it may sound, is one of my favourite sports. Mostly because I sometimes play with family, and I did well in school at it. I don't see it ever getting another sports anime, so I hope this one turns out well in the end.
You know, you didn't actually describe anything wrong with Hanebado, you just... described it. It's a drama - you don't tend to get drama out of people without any problems.
I agreed with you about Nagisa and Ayano in the first episode, but the worst parts of the drama about these two have largely faded by the end of episode 3, so I'm in.
Totally hype for HANEBADO! I was absolutely enthralled with the opening 2 minute movie level animation scene in episode 1 and then episode 3 hit me with the feels. UGH yes pls keep going, its amazing to experience. Also thoroughly enjoying Cells at Work, its so fun.
The funny thing is that I was almost prepared to give up on Starlight with the notion that it is going to be another idol anime. But the last few minutes definitely are making me reconsider. It was weird but definitely what made it stood out. Plus yes, the visuals were spectacular. It would absolutely hilarious if Kinema Citrus steals the spotlight once again like they did with Made In Abyss. ^_^
Cells at Work is actually pretty accurate with their biology. I wouldn't say you can pass your Bio class by just watching this show but it's still been pretty spot on with their info.
The second you mentioned Planet With's author being the mangaka of spirit circle, I immediately went and watched episode one. Spirit Circle is by far, one of the greatest mangas ever written, and is a masterpiece in my books. Strange though how Spirit circle never became an anime... Anyways, thanks for the recommendations!
Lewis Liu Toru is finally in the spot light, she deserves it. No girl even comes close and most can’t even comprehend the greatness that is TORU HAGAKURI.
Geoff talks a lot about sports anime, but I've never heard him talk about Eyeshield 21. Admittedly, the manga is really the stronger of the two, but even so, it remains one of my all-time favorites and given that illustrator Yusuke Murata would later go on to illustrate One Punch Man, I'd figure that Geoff would be all over it. For the record, Eyeshield 21 is about American Football and it's goddamn gold. I love every little bit of it and everyone should read the manga, or at least watch the anime (though the anime ends in a really stupid place; the main reason that the manga is better).
I enjoy Banana Fish and Cells at Work a lot. Cells might become my new favorite anime this year. And I just watched the first 2 episodes of Shinya! Tensai Bakabon and don't know what to make of it. It's funny and weird but a little too much me. Dunno. There's a lot from last year(s) and the winter and spring seasons that I have on my watchlist so I try not to start too many new shows.
Having been reading Grand Blue almost since it first debuted, I can say for certain that as the series continues to grow it will prove itself to be worthy of taking the crown for best comedy anime.
Banana Fish is pretty damn good. I remember reading the manga and wanting it to be an anime and this is the best time for it to come. Cells at Work is just damn good. I wish I was still in High School just to appreciate it more. Ship that White BC with that Red BC so hard so thanks anime and don't lewd the Loli plate >:U They are adorable and should be treasured. I haven't gotten to into the female sports anime, but only cause i've been working too much and want to watch them when I am on a day off and can just chill.
as someone who is a frequent watcher of MB's videos, I assure you that if he listed it all in the description, I would not have watched the video. not sure why so many are complaining about this. I mean TH-cam is his job, I think its understandable that he'd want many to watch all/most of his video that he worked on (for ad revenue and to qualify as a full view for the view count).
I'm actually really loving Harukana Receive, it just oooooozzeesss summery vibes and the characters are really fun and cute. Even the character's eye designs look like they reflect sunlight.
Good to know my anituber senpais are actually talking about a weird little show about the human body I thought only I would like. :3 Can't wait for the Cancer! Oh wait. . .he already showed up. . .
*Panic Wolves* I know, I made a video about it. X3 I've seen quite a few people say they want to give it a shot because of that and it makes me very happy that this more obscure manga is getting some attention now that it's animated. Even if it meany waiting a little longer for the next JoJo. ;)
One of these days can you talk about the first FMAB ED? I think it’s really well done, the animation style is different and interesting, and the twist at the end brings it all together!
Mother's Basement Oh, I loved Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. I've always found it criminally underrated or maybe under appreciated. So I'll check what Planet With has to offer; here's to hoping.
I feel that you forgot to mention Backstreet Girls. 3 Yakuza members failed thier boss and were forced to get a sex change and become idols. It is quite funny and entertaining, not thought provoking, but a good time to be had.
I play badminton a lot and teach children how to play as well. When I found out we were getting a badminton anime I was soooo excited, it’s so realistic and makes badminton look so much more interesting than just the slow back and forth most experience in school. I can’t wait to see how this anime plays out!
This season I'm starting Banana Fish and Hataraku Saibou as well as continuing Bnha, free and snk but you've raised my interest for Hanebado and Asobi Asobase, I may look that up. I started Banana Fish from a recommendation of an artist I follow on IG but I was told to not expect anything between the two main characters but you've just made me very interested with *platonic love* which is something I dig deeper than romance. Hell yeah now I'm getting more hyped for it. The first 2 episodes was already great so my hopes for it has shot through the roof.
I'm just going to help you out here, because clearly, you have never been to the Texas Tavern in Roanoke, Virginia. The 'With' is onions. You can get a bowl (chili) with, a dog with, or perhaps a cheesy western with. Hence, this planet comes with sauteed onions. You could skip the lingo and talk like a normal person, but when you order a 'planet: add onions', all the old guys are going to look at you funny. 🤣
Why make Mizukami Satoshi pen an original anime when he has several amazing manga out there that beg for an anime adaption? I mean, Planet With looks pretty good so far, but Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer IS a masterpiece and one of my all time favorite manga. It's almost like they are intentionally blue-balling us with this anime.
Thank you for posting this, I followed both hoshi no samidare and spirit circle through their runs and am so happy to have not missed out on planet with because of this
Grand Blue Dreaming - Noped out of it without even watching the first one. I've never been on board with that brand of comedy. Asobi.... Similarly looks like I'd not be quite with the program. Just a touch too over the top, compared to Hinamatsuri. Banana Fish - Watched the first two episodes and omg, I'm in love with it. It oozes gritty greatness. Harukana Recieve - Despite seeming like... well, Yuri bait, as you phrased it, surprised me with how it actually did character work in the second ep. Hopefully it keeps it up. Angolmois - Skipping because I've never been able to get into actual historical fiction.... A failing on my part. Cells at Work - Also skipping because.... well, I just can't get into it. Tonegawa - I tried Kaiji, but couldn't get through the rock-paper-scissors bit on the boat. It was taking too long to really get anywhere and I got very bored. So, this gets a skip, too.... Hanebado - Good god, this one screams that it deserves to be among the best of list for this season. Hoo-boy. Character, animation, and everything is just.... I love it. Revue Starlight - I mean... I might like it, but I've yet to meet an Idol show (which this is one of, even if it does have heavy influences from other genres) that I've liked. Planet With - Eeerrrrrggghhhh, I'm so torn on this one. I'm fully expecting the "Big bads" to actually be good guys, but I need to see what the actual bad guy will wind up being (I'm assuming the chairman of the board-esque guy for the time being) before I decide whether I actually like it or just find it odd and entertaining. Edit: Oh hey, that's my thoughts on seven senses, too. XD Angels of Death is fun so far, and the first ep of Sirius the Jaeger was the best kind shounen-y fun, capping off with a dude chasing a vampire lady through 1920's Tokyo. HO-LEE SHIT was it fun.
You're right about Happy Sugar Life, tbh. Doesn't take away that it's great if you're into its themes though. I'm personally loving the manga, and the anime is OK as well.
I know your channel did a voltron review and it was very good and your the only channel that tells about these western inspired anime and gives them a spotlight every now and then. But you have to do a review for season 6 cause it's amazing and aw jaw dropping.

I kinda like how stupid 'How not to Summon a Demon Lord' is 😅
Its main charm is how lame it is.
It feels like what you'd get if you took KonoSuba, stripped most of the effort dedicated to clever writing, and re-purposed it for fan-service. I'm not saying that's the WORST thing ever, but it's certainly... something.
Its a dumbed down fusion of konosuba and Overlord and I like it.
But if they use the same formula throughout the entire season it can get boring real fast
It basicaly works, the fanservice is good and the humor is dumb, but funny.
I am watching so far
1.Angel of Death
2.Cells at work
3. Happy Sugar Life
. . Still more to watch this season. Woooooo
Same, Sugar life had a pretty good first episode, I'll stick with it to 3 at least, but 2 had some shoddy quality, Angel of Death is amazing.
Sage Emerald
Not much has happened, but I am invested somehow. The main characters meloncholy and depression are interesting and I'm waithing to see them break
Angels of death os really good I'd finish the game two days ago
The 3rd option, you like it? ....hmmm, I hate it
Cool, I would like to see Mother's Basement's opinion on the show. I like it, but then again, I never know whats good until others spell it out for me.

Chio-chan is easily, *easily* the best show this season. Not including it on this list is a travesty.
I concur
Chio chan is? Someone inform me.
I can't watch subs due to vision problems so I was REALLY hoping funi would get the simuldub for the show I'm hyping on most this season
Banana Fish - LOVE Mappa's works
WHAT! You only cover 10 anime!?
Much love from Nux
I'm so glad SOMEBODY mentioned Banana Fish. I keep seeing it's kinda popular in Japan but here in the States no one is talking about it
I'm also not into yaoi because of its horrible portrayal of gay men, but this isn't even yaoi really.
Banana fish oh Im hyped 😂😂😂
Something about that show just annoyed me and I don't have good feelings about where it is going to end up.
thanks for making a list, i always kinda forget the names of most when he makes these videos
Banana Fish was so incredible. Thank you for giving it the praise it deserves.
Cells at Work is actually pretty accurate with their biology. I wouldn't say you can pass your Bio class by just watching this show but it's still been pretty spot on with their info.
Mb makes a joke in editing program
Me: omg look at deku hes so cute omg
Same here, lol
Well done transition at the end there! You rolled right into that sponsor ad really smoothly, haha. Almost didn't even expect it.
1 min online and so many poeple are already watching it . amazing
My Hero OP5 analysis?
Veridian he's gonna have a field day with "best girl"
Lewis Liu Toru is finally in the spot light, she deserves it. No girl even comes close and most can’t even comprehend the greatness that is TORU HAGAKURI.
One video at a time
So I'll be seeing you again when Gigguk releases his video :^)
HATSUME MEI
I haven’t watched an anime in 3 years yet I still love watching your videos 🤷♂️
issa osama you're gonna need to do some catching up
issa osama i doubt that
he wont start just because of comments
Don't bother with him it's his loss if he doesn't want to watch anything. He's just here to piss u off
Lewis Liu how is he? He's just making a statement fuck off
What you only cover 10 anime!! (much love from nux)
The maker of Biscuit Hammer gets his own anime? Well, I know what I'm gonna watch then. With Hype, obviously.
I am here to suffer for Banana Fish ,the manga has broken me and the anime looks like it will do the same. I am ready to cry every week, bring it on.
Just finished it too, and... damn. Kinda saw it coming, but still. Sad.
Having been reading Grand Blue almost since it first debuted, I can say for certain that as the series continues to grow it will prove itself to be worthy of taking the crown for best comedy anime.
only 10 anime? Nux covered way more.
What you only covered 10 anime !?
Much love -from nux
why do people keep saying that, did i miss something in the video?
Emmanuel Kebede no. it’s from a youtuber who said that
Not to mention Angels of Death is a RPGMaker indie game and is on steam for a decent price and highly recommended.
What ? Only 10 animes ?! Nux did them all
much love from him
Thank you for putting the titles in
WHAT!? You only cover 10 ANIME!?
-Much love From Nux
Banana Fish is pretty damn good. I remember reading the manga and wanting it to be an anime and this is the best time for it to come.
Cells at Work is just damn good. I wish I was still in High School just to appreciate it more. Ship that White BC with that Red BC so hard so thanks anime and don't lewd the Loli plate >:U They are adorable and should be treasured.
I haven't gotten to into the female sports anime, but only cause i've been working too much and want to watch them when I am on a day off and can just chill.
The Badminton one i highly suggest cuz man the first 3 episodes have some fking amaizng chartacter development im not used to seeing so early on
But if you lewd yourself doesn't that mean you also lewd the platelets?
I love Banana Fish!!! I originally didn't watch it because of the title, but the art style drew me in
Bruh why didn’t you just put all the anime names in the description?!
Justin Y.
i admire your pressense on YT im.
Justin Y. I know right
Justin Y. Ad money
as someone who is a frequent watcher of MB's videos, I assure you that if he listed it all in the description, I would not have watched the video. not sure why so many are complaining about this. I mean TH-cam is his job, I think its understandable that he'd want many to watch all/most of his video that he worked on (for ad revenue and to qualify as a full view for the view count).
Breebles just turn on captions... lol
What? You only covered TEN anime?!
Much love
From Nux
I'm actually really loving Harukana Receive, it just oooooozzeesss summery vibes and the characters are really fun and cute. Even the character's eye designs look like they reflect sunlight.
"Fresh off the Berserk Movies"
What year is this?
Good to know my anituber senpais are actually talking about a weird little show about the human body I thought only I would like. :3
Can't wait for the Cancer! Oh wait. . .he already showed up. . .
SpamCrackers It's done by David Production which should get it some more attention. That's the reason I started watching Cells at work anyway.
*Panic Wolves* I know, I made a video about it. X3 I've seen quite a few people say they want to give it a shot because of that and it makes me very happy that this more obscure manga is getting some attention now that it's animated. Even if it meany waiting a little longer for the next JoJo. ;)
And then animemes was filled with loli platelets.
Don't👏judge👏banana👏fish👏just👏because👏it👏have👏some👏boys👏love👏aspects👏
Not gonna watch it for that alone
Now I'm gonna judge it
Grand Blue
Asobi Asobase
Banana Fish
Harukana Receive
Angolmois
Cells at Work
Tonegawa
Hanebado
Revue Starlight
Planet With
I got you fam
It was way too hard to find this comment.
One of these days can you talk about the first FMAB ED? I think it’s really well done, the animation style is different and interesting, and the twist at the end brings it all together!
Reallyyyy glad the titles are in the video this time around. Made searching a lot easier
Mother's Basement Oh, I loved Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer. I've always found it criminally underrated or maybe under appreciated. So I'll check what Planet With has to offer; here's to hoping.
Spirit circle and Lucifer and the biscuit hammer are one of my favorite manga of all time, and like you said.... they are veryyy veryyy underrated!
WHAT!! You only covered 10 anime! Much Love from Nux
I feel that you forgot to mention Backstreet Girls. 3 Yakuza members failed thier boss and were forced to get a sex change and become idols. It is quite funny and entertaining, not thought provoking, but a good time to be had.
Has literally one key animator and the only joke of the show is the one u listed. Its pretty much a dissapointment
I enjoyed it
I like it, I just wish the animation wasn’t garbage
Honestly my opinion is that if it’s just copying the manga exactly, why wouldn’t I just read that instead
Because medium. Altering the story with the medium makes zero sense. If you don't like the story then don't use it and come up with your own.
The first 2 episodes was already great so my hopes for it has shot through the roof.
honestly the best summer 2018 anime is Emojiland the musical
I'm excited for angels of death since i just finish the game two days ago on my switch.
WHAT ONLY TEN ANIME THE BLASPEMY Much love from Nux
I'm just going to help you out here, because clearly, you have never been to the Texas Tavern in Roanoke, Virginia.
The 'With' is onions.
You can get a bowl (chili) with, a dog with, or perhaps a cheesy western with.
Hence, this planet comes with sauteed onions.
You could skip the lingo and talk like a normal person, but when you order a 'planet: add onions', all the old guys are going to look at you funny. 🤣
Thank you so much for including the name and where we can watch each anime! Those little thoughtful details are greatly appreciated!!!
...ONLY TEN ANIME!?!?!..much love from nux xd
Has anyone seen The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation? It's well-produced with good VAs. I hope it gets a review from a big anituber...
Thank you for posting this, I followed both hoshi no samidare and spirit circle through their runs and am so happy to have not missed out on planet with because of this
thx for the introduction for satoshi mizukane cause im right now are very much in love with his work
B A N A N A F I S H ! ! !
DID SOMEONE SAY SPIRIT CIRCLE AND BISCUIT HAMMER????? I'M ALL EARS.
