My beagle have never escaped through our garden fences (although they’re quite tall & have a concrete base, so that probably explains why) but she has ran out the door before. She always comes back though, she’s extremely loyal. Just not the most intelligent! 😅
My beagle ate 2 whiteboards, clay, all my chocolate cookies, wood, stones,a lot of beach sand, glue,a lot of insects, and he still live,i'm very proud of him

Also am I the only one that surfers of what I call the beagle state when the beagle gets so interested in some task that they won't listen to anything or anyone?
I have a dog who's part Australia Shepard and I was thinking of getting him a buddy. However I have no clue if he also has separation anxiety to the point it's destructive. He does cry and whine if he's alone while we're home, but he's fairly calm and quiet when alone. Would a beagle make the anxiety worse? Would he help the beagle? I'm not really sure how it all works yet, but thought I'd ask.

My Beagle hated being alone. In the early ages when he would start to be left outside on a runner he would bark nonstop until I came out. And when he was a puppy we could hike and he would trail behind us. Though once he got a little bigger he could not be loose or he would catch a scent and wander off. He got loose once and just came back home when he was done at night.
The last part about the escape artist made me laugh because my dog who is part beagle (he’s a mutt) has a similar harness and he did the same trick at the vet before 😂
My beagle is one of the beast things that has ever happened to me. She's my best friend. I will most likely never get any other type of dog again. She is beautiful and incredibly intelligent, far more than any other dog I've ever had. She understands and remembers the craziest things. She's really a great dog. I barely have to tell her to do anything anymore. She just knows what to do. She has even developed her own routines on walks for places she likes to sniff and places she doesn't. She is extremely stubborn though. She's not listening unless she wants to, and she refuses to listen to anyone accept for me period. It pisses my partner off, but I find it to be adorable honestly.

My family has always owned Beagles (and Beagles only) since I was born. Every beagle that we have owned was goofy, loyal, gentle and friendly, but you are absolutely right on the escape note. We ended up having to put special location collars on our beagles because they’d run off and explore. These dogs are honestly the best dogs you could ever hope to ask for, and if you’re considering one and have the right mentality and home environment for a pet, go ahead and pick one up. I promise you won’t regret it.
