hot take: I actually prefer realistic combat over the ridiculous stylized and cinematic combat. People always say that cinematic combat looks "cooler", but in my opinion realistic combat looks so much better. I was watching the demonslayer anime that other day, and I do love that series, but I almost lost my shit laughing when two characters starting moving their swords at like mach 5 and they were just flailing them at each other. Maybe it's because I've watched too much shadiversity and everytime I look at combat in any movie it just looks goofy, but I'd love to see a movie or series with actually realistic sword sparring.

    Hades belongs to S++ tier
    - Did his job with extreme competence
    - Unflinchingly loyal to his wife whom he trusted unconditionally and showered her with gifts from his infinite wealth
    - Utterly immune to bullshit, fallacies and obfuscation
    - Completely honest in his bargains. In good and bad
    - Yardstick of how scary things are to Greek. Everything was less scary. Except maybe Persephone
    - Patient
Hermes also belongs to S++ tier
    - Actually cares about humans
    - Knows that to learn you must observe more than one event
    - Designated messenger of Olympians not because they needed one, but because busy Hermes was Hermes not causing trouble
    - Made an oath to never lie. Didn't stop him from being master at deceit
    - Patron of so many things. If things move he is involved and that makes him very strong indeed

@Imsocliche Oops It is kind of unusual to see trickster as highly revered as Hermes was as tricksters are against authority and common ideals and morality. Simply put they shake established order. Loki was also trickster (and one of Jötnar, primordial gods) while Odin was god of knowledge and rulership and all that. He was one of Aesir (gods of civilization) so it was kind of weird that they got almost along despite their adopted brotherhood. Loki is source of Ragnarok.

A bigger package symbolized a less rational and stupid personality and lifestyle, as the Greeks believed it meant the owner was more overcome by lust and thus was prone to lying and other bad traits as well. Therefore it was believed that smaller packages represented moderation, rationality, intelligence, and a more desirable man.

Only Satyrs or slaves were depicted as having giant packages as well. Satyrs because they were described as insanely sexual creatures who were only driven by lust and desire, and slaves because the Greeks just deemed them inferior. Usually, actual penis size didn’t matter too much in private but you couldn’t depict anyone with a big package because that would be extremely insulting.

Orpheus was an absolute chad, man went straight into hell to bring his wife back, he also seduced Cerberus and Hades with his music. His downfall though was that he turned around to look at his wife, he was then cursed to be murdered by women in an orgy which essentially he was raped to death, but in his death he became more popular than some gods to a point where decided to give him a proper burial.

Diomedes is really damn badass, he was the son of Tydeus who was one of the seven against thebes and while he got aid from Athena she abandoned him when she saw him eat the brain of his enemy. Nevertheless Athena still came to help Diomemeds in the war
So first, the most famous is how the went on a rampage aided by Athena who gave him the strength of his father and eyes to see Gods, with these he killed loads of trojans, including Pandarus and he wounded Aeneas, Aphrodite and Ares ( he got help from Athena tho) , he only backed down after Apollo deflected his blows 3 times
Second: he had a brief interaction with Glaucus ( Brother or Cousin not sure of Sarpedon) and befriended him despite being on opposite sides
Third: He had 2 brief fights with Hector and tried to kill him 2 times but Hector got protected by the Gods, first while he was protecting Nestor he sprung up 3 times against Hector ,each time
Zeus threw a lighting bold to stop him, he only stopped because Nestor told him so, Diomedes didn't wanna be seen as a pussy . Later he hit Hector in the helmet with a spear (Hector survived obviously) and when he went to grab his spear and some armor off some guy he killed he got wounded by Paris.
Forth and last so far: He and Odysseus went on a metal gear solid type mission and killed Rhesus, a Thracian king.
    So yes,dude was no joke

    Some notes:
Odysseus had the idea of the trojan horse. He was really smart. He blinded the Cyclops Polyphemus, told him his name was nobody so the other cyclopes wouldn't help in searching them and snuck away under some sheep so that Polyphemus couldn't feel them with his hands. Hermes was the god of thieves and secrets. Helios and Apollo get confused a lot, but the one who drags the sun with a chariot is Helios and his name is the greek word for sun. Artemis was the god worshipped by the women warriors of Lesbos, which is where the word lesbian comes from. Hector killed Achilles' friend Patroclus (rumored to be his lover). Achilles'also dragged Hector's body with his chariot and the trojans couldn't buty him which was really disrespectful to the dead (hubris that is condemned by nemesis) but eventually gave the body back to the king of troy to get buried. That is also the reason he gets punished by the gods when Apollo tells Parris about Achilles heel and guides his arrow so technically Parris didn't kill Achilles, Apollo did. The gods were split during the war on troy and each side had devine help. Hades literally kidnapped Persephone and tricked to stay there but eventually her mother Demeter made Zeus command Hades give her for 6 monthes which is why when Persephone is in the underworld her mother Demeter who is the goddess of nature gets sad and winter happens. Minos was the leader of the minoan kingdom which at 1000bc had sewers. I think the minotaur was borne when Minos' wife had a kid with Zeus disguised as a bull. Hercules held the world a bit from atlas but tricked him to hold it again by saying he had to show him how. Cyclopes where kids of Poseidon and were a race.

One thing to note: a lot of Greek gods changed over centuries and governments. For example Dionysus in Greek mythology is just the drunk dude, but Before the Acient Greeks he a god of insanity and the underworld, and his worship was toned down to fit with the pantheon. Same thing happened with Hermes who branched out from the former God of nature and roads Pan. Over time Hermes became independent from pan and took the roads worship from him, meanwhile more people worshiped Gaia as the nature spirit so Pan faded into the background

It's funny because the translation i read had an analysis on the Iliad and Achilles' motivation to fight, and they never mentioned anything about the relationship between the two. Also when you look at the works of other ancient writers in the classical period, you can see that they also assumed that they had a pederastic relationschip. Removing the 'gay' aspects and twisting the sexuality of works has been done a lot by scholars. (for example the idea of Eros by Plato and the modern definition of Platonic love)

Bruh Persephone was actually really hardcore. In the old pantheon, people were afraid to just say her name because they though it might invoke her wrath. They called her things like “Kore” or “The maiden”. The only people who could actually say her name were the people in her cult. She also had a much more… active role than Hades? As in, she gave people nightmares and made mirages that drove people mad when they came to the underworld. The story of her actually being ruler of the underworld predates Hades, as well. Which is weird and a whole other thing. Her role in the mythos is actually very complicated. She isn’t a spring goddess, because she doesn’t create spring. Demeter creates spring in response to being with her daughter. I’m pretty sure her role is literally just being the queen of the underworld. I know in some areas of Greece she was a fertility goddess, though.

She might have spent only about quarter of her time in her husbands home, but she always came there voluntarily and they were obviously happy. If I remember right Orpheus was more scared of her than Hades, because she chose to be in Hades (location) while her husband had important job to do there and couldn't exactly take holidays.

Everyday, I live in constant fear that at some point I'll have to explain the reason I was late for work was because James Corden decided it would be a great day to cause traffic and do hip thrusts at me in a rat costume

Listen/read to Stephen Fry’s books Mythos and Heroes. He goes through the entire Greek world and explains (to the best of his ability) all the gods, titans, and heroes. And it would probably make you re-evaluate this list.
