You can def run CR123 in the TK05R. I have the light and have used CR123 multiple times lol. Maybe you have different batteries I dont know but mine works with CR123 guaranteed.
@@ChancetheCanine You are welcome for it! It has been mine as well, but unfortunately they replaced it with the LD30R which added almost an inch in length and close to the same diameter as the TK05R 😑
For 6 not as worried as much about weight as I am length. Dropping the charger would help drop some length from the head. I also don't like dealing with the rubber flap. If I ever have issues, I'll seal it with weather strip adhesive and then just charge the battery in a stand-alone charger.
Would you happen to know what is the output of the 16340 on the TK05R? If i do use it, can i also recharge it from the USB port? I might get one :) THANKS!
As far as I can tell from trying it out with the 16340 (specifically the new 800mAh USB-C 16340 from Fenix) you maintain the same brightness and charging works just fine. The only thing the manual states is you cannot recharge a CR123A (obviously lol) so you should be good to go 👌

I am just stating what the manual states. I don't even have any CR123As to try, all of mine are 16340, 18350, 18650, and 21700

Nice for a WML ....could do without the gimmicky external charger and indicator to make it lighter.
