I've just bought one of these to complement my PD35 2014 edition which is still going strong after nearly ten years. I wanted onboard USB-C charging and a longer runtime and was struggling to decide between this and the Pro but glad I went with this one for everyday use. I don't think it could replace the PD35 for everyday situations as it definitely leans towards being a thrower with the small but high intensity hotspot. I also wish Fenix would put out more lights with a warmer tint, but this one's fine for the indented outdoor use.

So sorry for your loss. I am so over rubber flaps. I much prefer the screw port cover ala the PD25R or charging the battery directly.
There will
Never be another original pd36r this v2 sucks
