I'm in the US. About 2 weeks ago in North Carolina, an unarmed black man who was accused of shoplifting was shot 3 times. He had no weapon, and was simply walking. A few days ago in Oklahoma, a police officer broke the neck and eye socket of 71 year old Vietnamese man over a traffic stop. I saw both these videos. In Texas, police stopped a man driving a pickup truck because he had out of town license plates. He was carrying $35,000 in cash to buy machinery for his business. The cops seized his money and the local government refuses to return it. These incidents happen EVERY DAY, EVERYWHERE in America. I stopped arguing with Americans about how great they think this country it. They hang on to some unrealistic patriotic delusion, and are quick to accuse China of doing what is ACTUALLY DONE here. Things will not change no matter who is President because corruption permeates this society at every level. Far be it for me to give advice to the people in China, but here it is - be proud of your country and your government. I am in awe of how sophisticated your society is, and how protective of the people the CCP are. You are right about the politicians in the West. They suffer zero consequences for their lies and corrupt actions. The White House and Washington DC perfectly reflect our society. We in the US are not to be admired or emulated, but should be held as an example of a collapsing empire that should never be repeated again for the sake of the world. Thank you for this great vlog!

My relative visited China in Oct for 3 weeks. During the visit in Shanghai one evening she had fever of 102F with blood in urine. She was 70+ years old and very nervous but finally went to the ER of the best hospital in Shanghai. She got the service including ultrasound, blood test, medicine, diagnosed as Urinary tract infection, in less than 2 hours. She was fully recovered the next morning.
Guess how much she was paid since she didn't have China medical insurance? Total 280RMB, i.e. US$40! She was told that the price for people w/wo insurance was the same. If you had local insurance you might only need to pay 10%-20% of the retail price.

For example, once in Shanghai, a police man came to me [I forcefully hailed down a taxi at an intersection where hailing tax is not allowed, but I did not know] and SALUTED to me before talking to me. I was flabbergasted because that never happens in my country. 😂

I live in the US and political accountability is a huge problem. It’s a vicious cycle where politicians will make promises and break them as soon as they are in office. Democracies need reform but as it is currently the system has no accountability, you can lie and make your money then move on with your life while the average citizens suffer because of these poor decisions. There needs to be punishments for breaking campaign promises and political lobbying should illegal. If those aren’t amended into political reforms democracy will be doomed to fail.

    • @omegabulldog5001
      @omegabulldog5001 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

That's what "democracy" do. Imagine being voted into power for 4 or 5 years but you will need to fix the craps that your predecessor left behind and there are no candies for the voters but bitter pills. Imagine your chances of being in power again at the next election. With that in mind, do you think you'll still want to work your butt off fixing the problems only to be kicked out of office later on by the same ungrateful voters who put you there in the first place? Any savvy politicians in that position would be trying to stuff their bank accounts to the brim as long as they can and then blame all the problems unsolved or created to their incoming opponents.

The main difference between Western societies of old and now is the current lack of Independent/Noble Academia/Intellectuals and the corruption of Mass Media. This resulted in a generation of citizens who seemed proud of mediocrity and 'decadence', yet think they have the best democratic system in the world. I am non-Western and just wish they would wake up from their stupor and hold their influencers(MSM) and politicians responsible and not allow their country to cause mayhem around the world. Let us all live in PEACE.

In 2005, I stayed in Denmark for a few months. The environment was beautiful, and the pace of life was very slow. The most uncomfortable part was the lack of people, and I wasn’t used to the food. Since I’m from Shenzhen, I didn’t feel that Denmark was more advanced than China at the time. Nearly 20 years have passed, and China has changed significantly, while Nordic countries still seem to be the same as before.

The value of Cdn healthcare is very little today. Pay sky high taxes and get little for it. Better to go to east asia and pay for better & quicker treatment - with a smile because you're treated as a customer instead of a burden.

Those were equivalent to computer and mobile phone inventions in today's world, and put those in the hands of normal people.
It significantly helped to spread and preserve knowledge, and pass the learnings and history down generations.

talking about girl girl relations, there's something very interesting I want to share. Years ago when I was working with a American colleague visiting china, he observed a lot of Chinese working girls at lunch break, they looked very intimate, like hugging each other on the street, holding hands or shoulders while walking. He was very curious and asked me if those girls were lesbians. I laughed hard because he kinda have a professor -kind-of vibe and being very serious. I guess he'd been imbuing with the idea that China is a backward country and homosexuality is prohibited. I told him, physical intimacy between chinese women in public places are very common and it doesn't necessarily mean they are lesbians😄. He was not fully convinced but then he saw men doing intimate stuff like pulling each other's cheeks, even slapping on the bottoms on the street, he finally got it.
I don't know if it's related to cultural or religious traditions, western people seemed quite uptight about same sex chummy behavior in public places, worrying people may raise questions about their sexuality?🤣

Medical System: This may explain why our population has flourished and our history has endured, thanks in part to our medical system.
Political Accountability: We dislike having leaders who make foolish statements and embarrass us as their people. This is evident in various countries, such as Argentina, South Korea, and the United States. We generally adopt a serious attitude toward politics and prefer professionals to manage it. This doesn’t mean that Chinese people are overly serious about everything; rather, we believe that politics should be approached with a sense of seriousness.

It may take more than 2 generations to fully address this problem, but xi is not afraid to tackle it even if that person was a defense minister. trump sent personnel to Afghanistan to investigate military corruption and they died in a helicopter crash and that was it, the investigation was terminated. China's political system has been criticized by Western countries as being dictatorial, centralized, and even persecuting its own people. As a Chinese who has lived in China for 60 years, I have experienced China's worst period and witnessed China's gradual development. I admit that the Chinese government is centralized, but it is by no means dictatorial. China has had such a political system for more than 2,000 years, forming a complete and effective system for selecting and appointing bureaucrats. The leaders who have reached high positions are professional and political elites from all walks of life, and the Chinese government's accountability system is difficult for other countries to achieve. As a regime that wants to rule for a long time, I really don't understand why they persecute their own people. This is not good for their rule at all.

Lots of places are too crowded, people can be rude, talking loud, quarreling with each other, cut in line... such stories are not rare on Weibo and other social platforms.. Chinese people are very hospitable and polite to foreigners, yes, esp in big cities like Shanghai. Yes, it's improving, looking back 40-50 years go, big progress, would be better in future. Second, average wages are still low in China, of course, things are cheap, foreigners love China, but they can't stay, because salary in US and Canada are still higher, on average. Overall, I would love to move back to China, hope to land some good offer too :) I hope you guys love what you do and enjoy life in China, making China more livable for foreigner friends as well.

Why need former to refer a specific field & patients want to know their health & this eats up the government coffers; 2)transportation : A$7pp one way by train; don't even start cos ppl here insists of business case 1st before starting but lots of money spent on consultants - what a waste! And in the end, nothing implemented and costs increases yearly 3)politics : yes, I think a law should be enacted for politicians to be accountable for spending our money for their inefficiencies ; 4)Police : not great as i remember I reported a iPhone sale scam and its been nowhile for 4 years. Now the latest are a)pumping petrol and driveaway not paying and b)shopping at Woolworths and Coles and leaving without paying. A good video. You pointed some interesting and valuable points (I personally like the way today's China is handling the modernity and ancient background; I also agree that Chinese could be more individualistic - in a positive, productive way - than most Western media would recognize and "allow" them. But your basic stance - comparing China with Denmark is off, way off: you just may not compare a large, ethnically, culturally, historically ,..., and geographically diverse country like China with a tiny, bland, "vanilla-flavor", marshland province in the northern Europe. Comparing China with, for example, the USA could give you a lot more substance to talk about. I find these two vastly different, on many levels.

Lu Xun is hideously bad as a critic. The past is more interesting than the present and the future is meh. There is a good reason for keeping things as they are. China finally found an equilibrium that escaped it but much of the pell mell change of the last century was poorly thought out and even counterproductive. Chinese readers will know what I’m talking about. That said, I don’t think Denmark is to the disadvantage of China. You can’t compare a small country to a big one and of course a big one will have more of everything. You readjust to a life abroad as Julie did and the the things found at home become a distant memory. For Danes who haven’t gone abroad, they haven’t missed anything and when all is said and done, the grass always looks greener at home. And if you’re not Julie and are native Chinese that’s the way they see things too in their country.

I disagree. You can always compare systems and claiming that bigger countries have more just due to size is just factually inaccurate. India is big but is worse off than the smaller nations in Europe. I also think you'll find many Chinese who will disagree with your opinion of Lu Xun.

@ in the last few decades, the changes that occurred have been impressive. I’m not in favour of change for its own sake and the early policies of the new China were an exercise in inexperience and the naive belief human effort alone can have a transformative effect. The transition to more sound policies beginning in the 1980s were much more beneficial in the long run. Every country needs to figure out how to balance tradition with measured change. A challenge China and its mega demographic neighbour, India are sure to face in the future.

      2. Spitting and speaking loudly without a care for others.
      3. Not following traffic rules especially at zebra crossings, going against traffic, overtaking, etc
