Looked like one of those anime scenes where the other person learns the hard way invisbility is useless if you're opponent can sense your power level and/or has precise enough hearing to listen to your foosteps.
Oh, so when Sister Friede jumps fifty feet into the air, you can run underneath her no problem, but when _Malenia_ does it, she gets an invisible collision box, or a rot tornado? I see you, Miyazaki. You just want to make sure nobody can touch her feet but you, don't you?
Sister Friede is one of the most menacing bosses From has ever produced. The music is on point, the 3 Phase boss is INSANE. There's a lot that went into this video in timing, prediction, and more. Its insane how ongbal over here is making it look easy and like Friede isn't pressing the guy. In normal gameplay, that 3rd phase is BRUTALLY AGGRESSIVE.
I'm butthurt about phase 3 since when she slams the ground, it spews black flames on every direction so I would run away but it doesn't actually damage you. My biggest struggle was trying to get hits in in-between all the dodging and knowing that would change everything. All though then it would be less fun and memorable for me since I would have beaten it hours earlier.
I can't tell if that flame catch was by far the most disrespectful thing I've seen done to any FromSoft boss ever. And I applaud the sheer level of skill it took to execute that.
Not only just the skill of executing these no HUD fights, but the elegance with which they're executed and the way you keep a focus on the visuals of the bosses that always makes them truly a work of art every time.
I love sister friede's fight so much. However, I did not know that those jumping attacks of her (ice and black fire) only damages in front of her haha.
Me too when I first played it. It would have taken me like 30 minutes if I knew that instead of 4 hours since I was struggling to get hits in-between all the dodging in the third phase. I never stopped thinking whether it is a bug.
i thought the jumping flame was all around her so i just rapidly rolled to the sides and missed my counter opportunity half the time because of her goddamn sidestep ...i didn't have much fun against the full friede fight..
This fight still gives me chills years later. There's really nothing quite like its presentation in my opinion. Even Gwyn and the many amazing fights of Sekiro don't quite compare to the emotion and presence of these two characters. You do it more justice than anybody else ever could. Your choreography and skill are amazing and doing it without a HUD really sells the presentation. Thanks for a great video.
DS3 is such a cinematic game. The phase 2 cutscene is one my favorite cutscenes in any video games. ... also No HUD hides how little damage Sacred Flame actually does but let's ignore that
Father Ariandel scream always gets me. It's so guttural and raw. He knows that he must release Sister Friedes flame to revive her. One of the best fights ever conceived by FromSoft.
I have to say, I do like how a lot of bosses in DS3 give you time to use those cool skills. Morgott, on the other hand, feels like he will pull a 50-move combo on you the instant you press L2 (I'm a console player).
in all fairness though, every weapon art chosen in this video was specifically done so to be *very* safe. He only ever uses the Unsheathe attack after a stagger in the first phase. The flame grab spell was only ever used after a really big attack like Friede's jumps or her going invisible. And the dual ringed knight greatswords were always used after a knockdown since Ongbal knew they would true combo. Obviously, the weapon arts in phase 2 were very unpunished, which you probably wouldn't see vs. Morgott, but the reason that most of the weapon arts in this video looked so effortless is because of Ongbal, not the boss ai or attack patterns
@@horacehorace6793 Also don't forget that Ongbal, besides his immense talent and skill, will only show his perfected run, where the AI and camera did not decide to do some random bullshit out of nowhere.
You should've watched Ongbal beating Morgott before writing this comment lol. The majority of ds3 bosses won't give you time to pull all of these long, flashy weapon arts because they have super armor. Generally it's the same for both ds3 and elden ring bosses.
Man this is probably one of my top 3 boss fights in soul series the music and everything that goes with it sets that epic battle scene into play so well great video bro I love watching your stuff make it look so flawless 👍
2:30 Ongbal: *_Ohhh…You think Darkness is your ally? You merely adopted the Darkness. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see the light until I was already a man, and even then it was nothing to me but BLINDING!_*
Damn this is some good s*** right there! Honestly I never got a chance to play Dark Souls III because my PC is weak enough to not be able to run the game smoothly, so watching you making DS videos beating bosses is one of my life's true delights. Oh and another thing, what is the dual curved greatsword that you used while fighting Friede at the final phase?
Epic video as always! Would love to see you do something with the Crucifix of the Mad King. It’s my favorite weapon in the game, and I think you could definitely pull off some pretty unique things with it, even though it is a little RNG dependent. Keep up the great content!
2:30 "Ah. You think darkness is your ally.... I was born in it. Molded by it. I couldn't see the light till I was already a man but it was BLINDING....".
I took me so many attempts to beat friede, the most out of any boss in the series and you just beat it like it was nothing. Definitely my favorite boss in the series no matter how frustrating.
It's sad that there's no katana parry in Elden Ring 😩
Here's hoping there will be mods for that
wakizashi parry + katana being dualwielded gets pretty close and is also cool as shit
Have you tried Reforged? Off-hands weapons with Parry take precedent on the main-hand's weapon art.
Mod also adds deflection which is badass af.
mannnn fr? that sucks
I remember spamming the deflect with the katana in dark souls to the point i got amazing at it, it was so satisfying 😩
2:30 that is the COOLEST thing I've seen from this game 🤯Absolutely incredible work 👏
agreed that shit looks like ultra instinct
Seriously how does he even think of this shit?
Thank you 🥰
Gotta love the choreography:
Friede: [ changes phase ]
Ongbal: [ changes phase too ]
Did my mans just donate 400 dollars :0
2:30 that is one of the most badass moves I’ve ever seen

Amazing job

The DLC bosses remain some of the best bosses in gaming history.
Friede, Midir, Demon Prince, and Gael are all all-time bosses.

that change of pace for phase 2 pulling out the big hammer after the slow and meticulous phase 1 was so funny
Yeah, I was very curious what sort of tricks and finesse moves is he going to use. Casually brandishes a huge hammer.
