Jodi could’ve been a really interesting character. Like I’ve heard that the actress who plays Jodi, Ava Michelle, had a lot of trouble as a dancer because she’s far above the height of the average dancer. They could’ve used that in this movie and Jodi could’ve been a dancer who’s insecure but tries her best to succeed, despite being insecure, and then growing into herself and owning it. Also I am also 5’8” and I see you and I appreciate you.
Yes! I did ballet as a kid but had a lot of trouble because I'm just too big so I switched to tap and at one point hoped to be a Rockette, but then I grew too tall :( I'm 6'3. And that could have been a really interesting plotline
omg i think this is the girl from dance moms which abby was saying she’s not a good enough dancer as she was too tall. SHE WAS GREAT like she should’ve had a better movie plot
@@ms.unknown5665 she is from dance moms but a lot of people take the ‘Ava you’re too tall for us today’ out of context - what actually happened was, Ava had competed AGAINST the ALDC with her mum’s studio, then came back for Nationals as if nothing had happened, and her mum was saying ‘give me a reason why she’s off the team’ and Abby said that she was too tall for the team as a ‘reason’. I mean, Abby said a hell of a lot of stuff that was not okay, but the tall comment was so badly taken out of context over and over again
"If this was a gay coming of age story, this would be the point where the closeted gay takes a 'how to tell if you're gay' quizz of buzzfeed" THE ACCURACY THO
Same bitch, I am fifteen and 6 ft tall and honestly this film could’ve been great and actually showed how being tall can be shit sometimes but nah she had to go and fall in love with a guy who carries a milk crate who gave her DRAG QUEEN HIGH HEELS MADE FOR MENNN!!!!! Literally if someone gave me men high heels as I gift I would be so insulted. I have big feet but I’m still able to find shoes that fit me without going to the men’s section aghhhhhhh
i love how the movie tried to make us sad for jodie because she's tall despite the fact that she's white, blonde, rich, and is being chased by a bunch of boys.
plus if this was real life all the women's basketball/netball/volleyball teams would be chasing after her. and people wouldn't bully her because they'd be smart enough to know she could easily dropkick them.
I feel like they could’ve focused more on feminist and the idea of how maybe she doesn’t feel attractive and “womanly” bc she’s so tall she’s viewed as masculine idk I feel like they could give more depth to why she hates being tall then just “how’s the weather up there” jokes
@@Person-oe7li that's not true most guy's just deal with it in my 30 years being alive I've rarely ever heard a guy complain about his height btw I'm 5'6 and I have never been insecure about my height
I have an online friend who was already 6’6” at the age of 11. He was already taller than his 6’5” dad at that age. He was even taller (and not to mention more muscular) than his gym teacher when he was 12 and already 6’8”. At 15, he was probably around 7’2” already. And he’s now 7’8.5” at 31. He struggled to find shoes and clothes that fit him but he still found ways. Plus, people didn’t mock him for his height, if anything, he was admired for how gigantic he is. And to make it even more ironic, his wife is only 4’4” and she doesn’t even reach his hips because of their size difference. The movie could’ve criticised the double standards that men being tall (or even having gigantism) is a great thing but women being tall somehow makes them outcasts. Same goes for the opposite side, women being short or even having dwarfism is considered very adorable and makes them look like kids but men being short makes them pathetic. But no, they just focused on teen drama.
I think the only part of this satire that doesn't work is it working the other way around. Yes, short girls are seen as adorable but most female models are at least 5'8'', so tall women are still seen as beautiful.
Instead of trying to make her an interesting character who happened to be tall they revolve her whole character around it. Height is not a personality trait.
Jackie Alberto I don’t think her appearance is the current beauty standard. Maybe 20 years ago but blondes and tall girls aren’t as desired anymore. At least where I live
Rafael Acosta i think it’s changed imo. Now what people want is short “thick” girls that look more Mediterranean meaning tanned skinned, dark hair etc etc
They are more likely to be hounded by the gym coaches to play all the physical sports like volleyball and basketball (like aggressively) than be made fun of.
I’m 5’11. Girl is TWO inches taller than me. I’ve literally never been made fun of for being tall. Fat, yes. But tall? This is RIDICULOUSLY unrealistic
i know my grandmother was heavily made fun of in school for being taller than most of the girls. it made her really insecure for a long time. I heard of a lot of other women getting made fun of or unable to find a relationship due to being taller (less of a woman or smth for being tall idk men are weird about women), but movie is just... gross. it degrades issues that real people have with "mY liFe iS So hARd!! im tall, skinny, relatively pretty, and straight :( my problems are worse than everyone elses"
I KNOW RIGHT that's the first thing i thought, i mean I'm 1.82 (6 feets i think ¿?) and omg I'm not THAT tall next to my friends, i mean does EVERYONE in that movie measure like 1.45/4'8 or something?
As a tall girl, there are so many subtle pains and problems that we have to deal with. (such as, most of us hit puberty young and are sexualized at a young age) And it really just, pains me to no end to see such and amazing chance to shed light on our issues go to waste... Did they even have a single tall women in the room while writing this?????
I laughed so hard at the "what if her father was like 'JODIE how's the weather up there?'" remark. I don't even know why I found it that funny. But here I am.
"I get it, I'm tall, it's the thing that's haunted me my entire life" *all the people being actually bullied in the school for stuff like race and sexuality just look at her*
As someone black and tall *the only* time I got bullied for being tall when the white dude regularly bullying me said “Don’t you guys talk to that giraffe n-word”.
I didn't get that either tbh,and I have Celiac Disease. At least make a conversation about it, now come on! I can vouch for Liz and say yeah,Glutios are not the best, but they're not that bad! Well, not saw dust bad.
That, by itself, would literally be harder than being tall. Or better yet, have a girl who's tall and has a really deep voice, so you can explore her struggles with feminity. Just one change would have made this movie more sensible, and that is so sad.
"I'm 6ft. tall wearing size 13 shoes, in men's, beat that." People that have Cancer, blindness, deafness, muteness, amputees, and born without limbs....

Her being white and blonde has nothing to do with anything lmao
Mimi Pancakez yeah it is because they’re literally the beauty standard 💀

I haven't even seen the movie but like I've seen that scene n like It was pretty hilarious
The accent wasn't swedish so it was hilarious and I'm sure they're plenty of swedish actors that could've done it instead
The only good thing about his character was that his voice made me laugh so much. 😂
the accent sounded irish lmao
My guy is from Wisconsin. FUCKING WISCONSIN 😂
@@mageofmagic870 That is just because clothes fit better
Looking like a kid isn’t attractive so idk why you included that
@Re veluv He is very rich and has custom doors built for his height.
My dad’s height is like 6’2 and I’m a minor and I’m like 5’3 almost 5’4 (I’m tall for my age) I fit in women’s clothes too.
“I’m more than just a tall girl”
*Trin:* “but ARE you?!”
My question throughout the whole movie😂
Instead of trying to make her an interesting character who happened to be tall they revolve her whole character around it. Height is not a personality trait.
she’s like: “i’m a tall white girl and totally NOT the beauty standard i’m so oppressed 😔”
Jackie Alberto this made me cry omggg
AND her house looks super rich like what
Jackie Alberto I don’t think her appearance is the current beauty standard. Maybe 20 years ago but blondes and tall girls aren’t as desired anymore. At least where I live
And she blond and pretty
Rafael Acosta i think it’s changed imo. Now what people want is short “thick” girls that look more Mediterranean meaning tanned skinned, dark hair etc etc
sad and tall, the two personality traits
disgusted jhope Love Simon was about being sad and gay, this is a sequel :D
Why is everyone so much shorter than her, she's only 6 foot 1? I'm 5 foot 11 and only slightly taller than my friends. This film confused me so much
Yeah and why is it that big of a deal every school has that tall girl and at my school they do almost every single sport and don’t get made fun of.
I don’t know where you guys live but it’s the opposite where I live
you don't understand she's six foot one AND A HALF
They are more likely to be hounded by the gym coaches to play all the physical sports like volleyball and basketball (like aggressively) than be made fun of.
at my school the tall person is one of the most popular people in my grade :/
@@apollyon772 that was back in the day though. Its completely different from now and you will rarely see tall girls get made fun of
