Ron Livingston is not just a part of some of my favorite films. Often, he’s the best part of those films. Swingers, Office Space and Band of Brothers. His world weary character defines something true about my generation.
Swingers was one of the few films in my memory that I watched twice in the same day I liked it so much. It kind of brought me out of a depression I was in at the time.
Swingers and Office Space were the two most quoted movies of my high school group that graduated in 2000. Honestly, that was the peak time comedy for movies.
@@chriscornelius2518 they're still around, but there's too many options out there and outlets screaming for your attention, that a lot get lost in the mix unless it catches wind.
I just re-watched "Swingers" a few weeks ago and said the exact same thing about Vince Vaughn. He was fantastic in that movie!! He also had several monologues throughout the film which he totally nailed!
Swingers helped bring back Swing music. Chock full of talented actors, great dialogue and very relevant for that time. Absolutely LOVE Ron. I often think he didn’t get enough credit for Swingers. He was the heart of that movie.
Well, I guess plot-wise it is, just a story about an east coast transplant getting over a breakup while trying to make it in Hollywood. It's a character driven movie, and goes to show you don't need some twist and turn, big reveal at the end of story to make an interesting movie.
My father always says “you make your own luck”. Ron Livingston’s story about how he got cast for Swingers is a clear example of this. By being a good person, having a wide network, and helping others, opportunities come your way.
So then you know how funny it was watching them drive in the movie to that party on the hill knowing they’re going all over the place and the route made no sense to us locals.
Vince Vaughn MAKES that movie! I think Vince is one of the funniest people I've ever seen, and most charismatic as well. Watch him in the recent "Hot Ones," you won't be disappointed.
It seems like he’s not acting and just being himself, and yet he’s terrific in everything I’ve seen him in. He was born to play Peter in Office Space and Loudermilk. I cannot imagine a single person on earth who could or should have filled those roles.
This movie is good for all viewers but I was young in west LA and this hit me between the eyes. It’s ALL so true. If you have a fantasy about dating life in LA watch this movie.
I remember seeing it in college at the theater that plays small budget films. I walked out being blown away at how much I loved that movie. It's money!
Neal, You do a fantastic job with your interviews. You add a little bit here, a little bit there, but mostly you let the subject of the interview speak and tell the tale.
Went to go see Marty and Elayne at the Dresden with my wife. And Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his boyfriend came in and sat next to us. He asked have they played Staying Alive yet? 😊
not sure I agree with the story is thin. but I do agree Swingers changed my life for the better and is an all time classic movie. still love ya Neal lol
He's referring to "industrial acting." Actors who aspire to be in Hollywood may take gigs to get in front of the camera, doing TV commercials or industrial acting - which often consists of corporate training videos. For example, you may be the 'talking head' in a corporate training video that walks the viewer (eg- new employee) through the company's policies. In other words, it's a way to pay the bills.
First DVD I bought was Swinger's. One of the few movies I've watched repeatedly. Only question is, when is Netflix going to pick up Loudermilk and give us more seasons.

I hope you’ve watched his streaming show, Loudermilk. It’s worth your while.
And if he never did anything but those 3 things, hell of a resume
Except nobody traveled and adventured the world and they’re only weary because of the alcohol 😂
2 Nina's !!
That movie came at a point of my life that I needed it. Kinda changed my life
The best thing about Swingers is it is so much fun. It is light and fast paced with so much heart.
Ron's performance in Band of Brothers is eternal. Crazy that it all started from him moving to LA at the same time as a guy he kinda sorta knew.
Swingers was one of the few films in my memory that I watched twice in the same day I liked it so much. It kind of brought me out of a depression I was in at the time.
I guess you are so money and you didn't even know it!!
Ditto
*Spoiler alert*
When Mike hangs up the phone near the end of the movie...
One of my favorite scenes ever.
@@sirg-had8821 “I love y….” I had the pleasure of doing something similar.
The constant calling back and leaving messages on the answering machine is so good.
I loved finding “Loudermilk” by accident. I love Ron in everything
..still in my top 3 movies..still holds up…love it..
It’s money baby
Brilliant movie.
Swingers and Office Space were the two most quoted movies of my high school group that graduated in 2000. Honestly, that was the peak time comedy for movies.
Swingers was such a 90's Game Changer. Innovative, interesting, creative, dynamic. A great era in independent film.
What happened to independent films? Am I missing something? It seemed like the best films in the 90s were independent films.
@@chriscornelius2518 they're still around, but there's too many options out there and outlets screaming for your attention, that a lot get lost in the mix unless it catches wind.
Still one of my favorite films. Ron was great in it and loved him in Band of Brothers,
Neal is a white supremacist

I maintain that that was peak Vaughn
He's literally reprising the role in Wedding Crashers.

the script isnt thin at all. It's a fucking masterpiece. And the speach Ron gives to Fav is one of the greatest in film history.

lived in silver lake went to all the bars they went to. Driving in your own cars at parties. Played at Los Feliz golf. So great.
So then you know how funny it was watching them drive in the movie to that party on the hill knowing they’re going all over the place and the route made no sense to us locals.
Still quote this film 25 years later. That's a tribute to my lack of maturity.. but it is a good film.
Me and a friend still occasionally will say "this place is dead anyways" when leaving somewhere.
Ron Livingston seems very pragmatic about Hollywood and his career in general. He recognizes how random the process is.
If anyone hasn’t seen loudermik I highly recommend. Ron is great as always in it.
Such a classic and the cast was beyond talented and it has been so fun watching all these guys go on to do great things. They are all so money!
Vince Vaughn MAKES that movie! I think Vince is one of the funniest people I've ever seen, and most charismatic as well. Watch him in the recent "Hot Ones," you won't be disappointed.
My little boy all grows up! Great character
Ron got to be in two of the most iconic films of the '90s, Swingers and Office Space.
Ever since I started working, every day has been worse than the one before. That means each time you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.
Same
Wow, that’s messed up

Swingers is such a fun movie!
I used to like to watch this movie while i was getting ready to go out lol watched that movie hundreds of times
Swingers is an all time great flick.

Ron was amazing in Loudermilk!
In this household we protect Ron Livingston at all costs.
Great clip, thank you! Swingers is free here on TH-cam.
Such an amazing career this guy has had.

That’s Lewis Nixon.
Swingers, Clerks, Kids, my 3 fav

We need more Loudermilk
"VEGAS BABY! VEGAS!"
Wonder how many guys like myself found this movie helped them get over a brutal breakup.
Great flick!!
His voice sounds different
Bring back Loudermilk!!!
What’s an “industrial gig”?
A regular job.

Loudermilk!
calling it an accident seems fairly off base. i mean good fortune and happenstance yeah, but accident no
Feel the same way. Good, funny script doesn’t seem like an accident

His hair is not fair. Seems like a great guy though.
is anyone else fascinated by both of their ears? something weird is happening
It’s weird how obvious he’s making it that he doesn’t like the guy
IS there a chance in hell a movie like this can even get made in HollyWeird anymore?
You’re so money.
Vince Vaughn is about as funny as being diagnosed with terminal ass cancer.
Nix is not aging well
At my age now. I hate movies. Original thought feels dead. This movie is still money.
Had to use that word, sorry.
Douchey, "behind the scene, Brenna", once again, jealousy jabs at other people's work.
Swingers makes me cringe. I don't care for it.
That’s kind of the point
Oh, I'm supposed to enjoy the cringe? Yeah,no thanks.
