supercrazypurplegurl love her rendition! Any song is enchanting & magical when it's sung by Julie! She's very capable of belting but her creamy silky voice suits this song! Love her
Everyone comparing her to someone else: She is performing the show as herself on her tv show, she is not playing Sally Bowles. Obviously, her voice is too perfect and proper to play Sally, but her rendition is just as good as everyone you are listing.
@wickedphantom24601 Exactly! And the film version of Cabaret is nothing like the original stage version, and the Sally Bowles of the film is nothing like the Sally Bowles of the original books or stage versions!! Sally was English, posh, and Julie is rather like her! People may not realise that the original Sally Bowles is London was none other than Judi Dench! I love the film and Liza is exceptional, but she's not really Isherwood's Sally.
Funny because the producers actually wanted Cabaret written for her and her agent / manager turn it down saying that the material was too contraversial for Julie Andrews wholesome image. So, you know better than the original producer who should play Sally? I think not!
I LOVED all the really tight close ups they did on this show. Julie just makes you melt---and not just anybody's skin could take a camera that close. Her face is English peaches and cream for sure. Thanks for sharing!!!
She has such an even vocal quality that does not change at all whether she is in her chest voice or head voice. My dream is to collect all her songs. *sigh*
What an amazing rendition of Maybe This Time by the dazzling Julie Andrews, showing how incredibly wide her range is. Intense, radiant, glorious, Julie is a treasure . The Julie Andrews Hour should be on dvd. And, oh yes, Glee is a perfect show for her to shine again on TV.
Undoubtedly she is very capable of doing it with more belting out but this how she wants to sing it! Personally I love Julie's sweet soft beautiful version of it!
I love and absolutely adore Julie Andrews and she is a classic actress because of the roles she played with sweet voice, but she's too beautiful in my opinion to have played grittier roles and quite frankly Liza blows her out of the water on this one.
She always will be special lady not only extraordinary talent human being grecious, and with extraordinary beauty and voice the frist time l saw her my fair lady l humble tell you how amazing lady EN HORA BUENA ... JULIE, YOURE THE BEST AND ALWAYS BE .
Sooo glad you posted this. Thank you! The musical arrangement screams Seventies, Burt Bacharach-style. Doesn't really suit Cabaret, but Julie makes it work, and it makes me nostalgic for my childhood.❤
I'm a huge Julie Andrews fan, but even I didn't expect this to be fantastic because I figured her soft, British voice wouldn't have enough power, but boy did she prove me wrong!
Technically perfect, as one would expect from Julia Andrews, but I just find her voice and persona to "sweet" for this song. I just to believe her when she sings the line "everybody loves a winner, so nobody loved me", for example
@@mydreams2235 even though, a lot of very talented actors don't get the recognition they deserve, but I thought Emmys were more just and fair than Oscars, and that they really awarded talent. Turns out they don't.
I don't think this recording of this song is very good, soundwise--because Julie can belt as well as anyone--I think it is the sound quality of this video.
I feel like people would love this so much more if the audio quality was better!! I can just tell this is an amazing rendition but the audio quality does NOT do this performance justice.
Nothing weird about that. I'm fairly sure everybody does. It's a large part of her beauty and of her singing voice. Heck, you want to talk about weird? I'm female and I've been head over heels in love with her since I was ... I guess, six years old. That's when The Sound of Music came out. In the oh-so-unenlightened era of the 21st century, most of the people who might read this would call me a lesbian. I assure you, I'm not. It's just that Julie Andrews is nothing short of perfection.
I hope I'm not murdered for saying this, but I never saw Mary Poppins (obviously I know the songs, Supercali..., Just a Spoonful of Sugar, etc.) but I'm glad I didn't, because I feel that if I did, I'd be like most people and never see her past that role, she has a phenomenal voice and can still sing at her age.
You are cheating yourself immensely if you've never seen Mary Poppins. It is a delightful story, but more importantly her performance will have you standing at the end shouting "Brava!"
She's certainly straining her chest voice, especially at the end. I really don't see her in this kind of role. For her serious side, and her undervalued good acting, see the film The Americanization of Emily.
Julie Andrews had a great voice but... Her voice is not for this song. This song requires a strong voice!!! Julie had a soft very beautiful voice. Because of that, I didn't like this version as much (not even near) of the original one. GO Julie Andrews!!!
It was never her acting that was the problem. That voice doesn't suite that song. I love Julie Andrews and I think she has a remarkable talent. That song requires a lustier set of pipes and not the proper classical sound.
horrible, se esfuerza sin resultados...pierde coloratura y no suma potencia. Tampoco logra conmover su actuación, solo la habitual melancolía de su rostro. No todos los cantantes pueden hacer todo.
Julie was a belting lyric B'way soprano who needs a good show and director to keep her from evoking nothing but sugar, spice, and (dare I say it) ego. Surely her best roles were Eliza and Guenevere, Her concert performances and solo albums are mostly overdone and self-indulgent. This song is completely wrong for her- sounds vocally forced and is unconvincing.
I'm not sure this song really suits Julie Andrews, but she's so glorious I can't help but love it anyway.
supercrazypurplegurl love her rendition! Any song is enchanting & magical when it's sung by Julie! She's very capable of belting but her creamy silky voice suits this song! Love her
She’d probably agree, lol - the part of Sally Bowles was written with Julie Andrews in mind but she turned it down
Love this. She has commented that she rarely got to use her “chest voice” to any extent. I have always loved it more and more as I have gotten older.
Julie Andrews' version is amazing! Love her for he personal touch to everything she does, natural flow of passion & love resonates!
Everyone comparing her to someone else: She is performing the show as herself on her tv show, she is not playing Sally Bowles. Obviously, her voice is too perfect and proper to play Sally, but her rendition is just as good as everyone you are listing.
then why sing a character song?
It's not a character song, it's a torch song that was written for Kaye Ballard to sing in her act!

@@stevietown1465exactly I love both of them but Julie fits the stage version more than Liza being British
Funny because the producers actually wanted Cabaret written for her and her agent / manager turn it down saying that the material was too contraversial for Julie Andrews wholesome image. So, you know better than the original producer who should play Sally? I think not!
It’s so wonderful to hear her belt!
it's what she is expressing through her face (interpreting/ acting) that makes this performance great.
It's nice to see someone classy do it. I didn't know the song could even sound this good! I love Julie Andrews so much!
The song is literally about being loser: lol
When liza minelli sings it in cabaret ,it sounds VERY GOOD!!!
Never heard her use her chest voice this much! I love when singers belt! :) Yay Julie!
Dammit. Julie can do anything. I love her.
I LOVED all the really tight close ups they did on this show. Julie just makes you melt---and not just anybody's skin could take a camera that close. Her face is English peaches and cream for sure.

What happened to talent like this? This woman is amazing

She is so beautiful
SHAME to the man that stripped her vocal cords.
i was pleasantly surprised by her ability to deliver this song so strongly. Amazing!
Bravo . Quel talent pour une chanson avec tellement d'émotions 👏

This is RICH!!! Thank you SOO much for posting! GOLDEN!!
she's still beautiful even now, it must be heart-shattering to know that you have to stop singing when it's what you're all about :(
When I watch this, I can't help but to imagine Liza in every Julie A movie and it makes me giggle. I love both but LMAOL!!!!
I love her so much !!! I love her voice and she's sooooo beautifull !!! She' s the best and she will be the best all time !!! 😍💜
THIS WOMAN CAN DO ANYTHING
oh my gosh i love this!!
Awesome job singing this Julie!
So classy!
Like the pro that she is, she knows how to build excitement!
PERFECTION!!!!! Love her oh so much!!!

...sobre todo después de escuchar a Liza Minelli en ésta canción ! 😬
Not her fault she got typecasted
@@soaribb32 I didn’t say it was her “fault”. I love her voice, but I just don’t think it suits this particular song.
Exactly
Fantastic!!!!
Lindo! Excelente, a melhor versão feminina dessa canção! Julie ainda é um talento em tanto!
She is very beautiful!!! :3
Julie is so beautiful
SO in love with her!
I love the fact that there's no dislike..haha I love her!
Adoro mucho su acento.
I adore her accent much.
Soooo pretty!
I feel like Julie Andrews is the woman that's being described in this song, so it doesn't really fit for her. She's still wonderful though.
If she made you believe that the song is about her, how can you say that it’s not right for her?
Gosh, I adore this dress, it has my fav color. I don't know why she was always mentioned as the "kind one". She was sexy too.
Bates Motel, Vera sings like an angel 🖤
Bby Vera 🖤
Totally agree. She knocks it out of the park. I don't understand how she didn't get an Emmy, or the series more audience.
@@sharknado623 yeah i dont get that either. She is soooooooo talented

maravillosa!!!
i looove liza in cabaret but but if it wasnt her id want it to be julie.
love it.
Sorry Jules, you don't cut it when singing this song. It's not an A-sexual school teachers song.
I've always thought Julie was a beautiful woman. She looks gorgeous here !
I love ❤
She'll rock the Glee house down. I bet Kristin Chenoweth bows down to her like the rest of us. :)
I feel like the range is a bit unusually low for Julie, so it bothers be a bit. Beautiful nonetheless.
what play was that ?
*melts*
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Liza with the big band is the best version. This one is a surprise like. Well It's Julie, of course, working that finale.
My audition song for musicall!!!
OMG! This was my song too!
Good Job Norma Bates ... lol
🔥💕👏👏👏

Bates Motel.

Bates Motel 💜

Julie la cancion de liza minelli de cabaret😊
Suena muy distinta la canción en voz de Julia
SHE IS NOT HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!
@dolphinjjam Chris Colfer is begging to have her play his grandmother and she says she hopes they ask her!

pretty voice, norma..
I like Melina Kanakaredes' version.
I want to be Julie Andrews.
Amazing* utube John bavas cabaret
sorry this is Liza's song love Julie but Liza is much better on this song
Far too low for her range, but she still manages to interpret it convincingly
i actually prefer this to liza's version
Killer song to sing. Julie did a good job with it. But version lacks raw emotion and power of Liza's version.
I'm so ashamed of myself u.u i didn't know she used to sing

Don't think the arrangement does her justice. Doesn't let her be sultry enough.
Terribly English and polite.
I always liked Frank Sinatra's version.
I love Julie but her voice doesn't suit this song. I really want it to but it doesn't :(
I prefer Vera Farmiga version in Bates motel.
Me too. More feeling and a much more powerful voice.
Not Liza but a sweet performance
It does not fit to her this repertoire
