PS: i get your point, just wanted to add to your list.
+MeeserNobody Compatibility. As described in the video, there are tens of thousands of games to play (most not just on Steam). This doesn't even include emulators which allow you to play games from almost any console there is. ex: You want to play COD but rage quit and fire up some Mario Kart. After failing miserably, you decide to relax and play some Worms with your pals. The possibilities are much greater than being restricted to the titles of one specific console. Also as +Christoffer Norskov said, you are investing in a machine to do work and other things than gaming.

Exactly. Pc is not only superior in gaming, but anything. You cant do business on a ps4 or a switch, you cant develope your own games on xbox or ps4, you cant pull up the terminal and configure the way the interface looks like on a wii u or xbox or any ps console. But you CAN do all of these things on pc. It has more functionality than just gaming, like consoles have.
The problem with consoles, Linus, isn't necessarily about their lack of performance, lack luster input selection, or their absurdly expensive cost. But rather how much they're holding back the gaming industry. Imagine for a moment, that consoles disappeared, and everybody started using PCs. Well, people would *still* want that simplicity (that really doesn't exist..). So what would happen then? Would we re-make consoles? Probably. They're a great scam, and millions of people fall for it. But let's also imagine we don't do that. So everybody relies on PCs exclusively. We still want that simplicity, we still want those same games, we still want everything that would draw a person to consoles. So what would happen? ALL of those 'features' that consoles get, would be implemented in operating systems or software on PC, and the problem would disappear. If you wanted to dance, you'd dance. If you wanted to do some hardcore gaming, you'd do that. But you wouldn't have to buy an underpowered piece of garbage to do it. You'd be *able* to buy an underpowered piece of garbage if you wanted, but it wouldn't be required. The main problem with consoles isn't the plethora of negatives around them, it's the fact that they are holding back the potential of the gaming industry.
People buy consoles because they are just plug and play unlike pc's and i don't understand why people always bring the argument that consoles keep holding back the gaming industry. In the past that was somewhat right, but now there is just as many pc gamers to console gamers. If i was you, i would blame devs for not taking advantage of pc's hardware instead. But in the other hand that would mean, that devs would have to optimize each game they make to work on every pc (part)hardware that has been release. Some people might say to make the games work on the very best pc hardware out there, but that would eliminate common pc gamers. For example if they made a game that require 3 980's to play that certain game, that would mean that only a small group of people would be able to play that game. Like really who has 3 980's, maybe some people but not everyone. That right there wouldn't make a lot of money. And the things that devs want is money, not all of them, but it is require if they wish to continue making games. The whole getting rid of consoles thing, might not happen any time soon, until pc making(building) becomes so easy that even a 3 year old can build one. Because people just want to play on a system that you just plug and play. And you might say to just buy a already build gaming pc. That would cost you more than a console and you would have to deal with more things, like updates, drivers, tweaking, bugs, shitty ports(because the devs didn't want to optimize the game for pc). So just take this as a grain of salt, i'm not trying to change the way you think. I'm just giving you more options.
Shadowmark r You don't understand how PC gaming works. There is no 'requires 3 980's. It's 'this works best with 3 980s, but if you have worse, just turn down the settings'. Consoles are HARDLY plug and play. You have to plug them in, log in to your account, set up your membership account, install your games, and THEN you *might* be able to play your game. Unless it had an update. The console gaming experience is absolutely no more 'plug and play' than the PC gaming experience. Period. A three year old doesn't need to be able to build a PC. And an eight year old already can. Building a PC isn't difficult. And as I said, if consoles stopped existing, the reasons people play on consoles would just be made on PC. The only thing consoles are doing is holding back the gaming industry. That's fact.
We need shitty consoles so casuals will buy games and AAA devs will invest more into the engine. There needs to be a new console about every 5 years to keep progress moving forward, as long as they do that PC will be fine. Don't have to be happy about it but the consoles can keep their crappy communities, and if you try and defend the console community then you have not played cod on a Saturday night.
Shadowmark r consoles are not plug and play. 1.buy halo mcc. 2. Put in disk. 3. Wait 2 fucking days for the 30gb update to download to fix multiplayer. On pc. 1. Put in usb hdd with hundreds of games. Click alien isolation.exe. play game with ease. And it runs better too.
Uh last I checked some mobils gamers took on pc players in pubg for giggles and wiped them.... so yea not so superior. However most phones these days are lil pc engines people have hooked up since some phones can outperform 75 percent of builds
+Franz Pogi That's less than 30% of the community, and even then I think I'm still being generous. lol I spent $1,000 on a PC, but there hasn't been anything as good as Halo. Good thing I have my Xbox One. The only redeeming quality about PC gaming is how dirt cheap these games become after a year.
Well not really worse but instead I can say it's slow the creativity down that the dev has to dismiss everything altogether or find another alternative to their creativities.
Nope, it's the developers. Why should they put in effort for a really good pc port when people on consoles pay more for there games aswell as knowing every xbone will be the same set up minimizing the chances of bugs. That being said, it seems like games are designed with this in mind from day one so everything feels a little more diluted.
Tom Nicklin Well one thing I couldnt agree with is the "minimizing the chances of bugs" one prime example of the game is AC Unity - on all 3 platform all get their own 'exclusive' bugs, lol.
***** nope, it's about how much less powerful the consoles are compared to most PC users. Even a mid-ranged PC (FX6300 and R9 270X) is much more capable of higher resolution and high FPS than consoles are.
***** Right but there will most of the time be more bugs on pc because people have different hardware and different software at the same time and it's an inevitability.
Nintendo, Consoles, PC, Handhelds. My elders used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the gamers kept balance between the Nintendo Systems, Desktop Computers, Media Consoles, and Mobile Handhelds. But that all changed when the PC Master Race attacked. Only the Affinity Gamer mastered all four elements. Only he could stop the ruthless PC gamers. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. Years have passed and the PC Master Race is nearing victory in the War. Five years ago, the people of my tribe journeyed to the Media Consoles to help fight against the PC Master Race, leaving me and my friend to look after our tribe. Some people believe that the Affinity Gamer was never reborn into the Gaming World, and that the cycle is broken. But I haven't lost hope. I still believe that somehow, the Affinity Gamer will return to save the Gaming Industry.
Medachod I have seen this before, and it falls apart here: "But that all changed when the PC Master Race attacked." Consoles have been fighting between themselves since two competing consoles existed (many decades ago). Consoles also enjoyed decades of bashing PC gamers, because the consoles were once the better value. Nothing has changed, except for who currently holds the stick.
Medachod Yes, in the beginning, it was consoles who were ridiculing PC users, because consoles had better performance/price back in the day. Also, consoles are still fighting withing themselves to this day. If you have seen the ridiculous shit that gets spewed whenever an Xbox and PS fanboy meet. Those conversations get so stupid, you feel like you loose 10 IQ just by reading them.

Sense when does it matter what platform you play your games on as long as you’re plane good games that you as the individual enjoys and is having fun with. The majority of us have play mobile games on our smart phones here and there that doesn’t mean you’re install not a gamer just because you play on a mobile platform or a consul or PC platform doesn’t make the gamer the game that you’re enjoying makes the gamer. Platform has nothing to do with how you play your game or what are you play your game on it’s about having fun and not arguing over what platform is better
I bought a prebuild PC with a Ryzen 5 2400G and honestly it just sucks (or I had a faulty product). It had about the same perfomance as my office laptop from 2009 and the CPU gets REALLY hot and warmed my entire case. I put in a GTX 1060 6GB and the CPU temps stayed nice and low with the stock cooler and the perfomance was good. It's fine if you plan on upgrading shortly after but if you want to stay on the 2400G, just get a console instead, you get better perfomance. @@MrMinevision1

I use PC, but you missed the point. PCs are great, but consoles have their own upsides that a PC usually cannot bring. Take for example the fact that you cant have multiple people crowd around a PC and play games together.
K&M are better. It's a myth. Sure it's an advantage BUT everyone else has that advantage, so it's not an advantage anymore. Not to mention that 90% of the PC community are fucking fatass neckbeards and if you don't have a $250 mouse you'll be destroyed. I'd rather have the controller since #1 everyone I'm playing with has that controller and don't have an advatage over me, so it's pure skill, #2 I don't want the end of my spine being blunt (unhealthy, it's from sitting on hard surfaces to long.) You get my point, the K&M is the easiest argument to take down.
GL 9106 it's not about that, I prefer PS4 due to the fact that I like final fantasy, uncharted, and I'm really looking forward to horizon zero dawn and red dead 2. And most of my friends play PS4.
I can come home with some friends and play a game of FIFA or Halo on a 70" TV. On the other side, I can go to my PC and play a modded ass version of Skyrim that looks smooth and is too epic for words. Both their have advantages...
GHOSTRIKER j The difference is this: The PC can also play games (including splitscreen and local multiplayer) on a 70" TV The console can't play modded ass version of anything.
Christoffer Nørskov i know, but why would i want my PC in my living room? What I'm saying is, when you have both, you can take advantage of both. Also, PC aint gat dat Halo
GHOSTRIKER j Why would you want your PC in the living room? Two things: First, to game at 1080p and 60fps (or more, depending on your TV). A console simply can't deliver 1080p60 in a game an still look good graphically. A PC also offers better file formats (i almost exclusivesly use MKV files for video, which consoles don't support) and is a generally better platform, even on the couch. Second, you don't need to carry your gaming PC to the TV, you can use something like Steam In-Home streaming and then have a media center PC, Raspberry Pi or laptop connected to the TV (or the new Steam Link). Even though it's a stream, it's still better quality than consoles, and allows you to game at 1080p60fps anywhere in the house where you can stuff a small PC, laptop or any other compatible streaming device.
***** To be honest, if you wanted it bad enough, you could play literally any game on your PC. Even the 'exclusives' part is only superficial at best. I mean, think about it - you have to build the game on a PC, and then *port* it to a console. The true advantages the console has over the PC are: 1.) You run into much less problems/glitches as far as running the game, error-free, etc. You don't have to dig into folders and mess around with stuff if your game, somehow, suddenly starts 'crashing' on console. 2.) The primary function of the console is for gaming. This is a big advantage over PCs. All of your processing power is directed towards running your game smoothly. Console games don't have 'graphics' options because they aren't needed, and framerate issues are next to non-existent. 3.) Console gaming is much more accessible. While more people have PCs than consoles, gaming on a PC is much more of a hassle than consoles. This is pretty obvious. Simply having a PC that can run most games is a challenge itself. And keeping those games running error-free is also a challenge (I literally have to pop open the hood on some of my steam games at least once every other week). And then you have to remember that gaming with a controller is more comfortable than the keyboard/mouse dance. And 4.) LAN. This used to be a console advantage, but if I'm not mistaken, neither the PS3 or XB1 have ports to allow for lan gaming, so this pendulum is sort of shifting back in favor of the PC.

Plus PS4 has some great exclusive games like God of War, Uncharted, Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit: Become Human, Spiderman, GT Sport, RDR 2 and many more. I gotta be honest LinusTechTips . I was expecting a "PC Master Race" argument out of you. But you surprised me on this one. I've always been a multi platformer myself. I play on consoles, PC's, phones...whatever. If it plays games, I play them on it. Every platform has great exclusives, excellent feature sets and unique experiences to offer. So why limit yourself to one? Embrace them all and enjoy each one for what they have to offer. No point in pledging allegiance to a platform or brand who sees you as nothing more than a number that contributes the the expansion of their bankroll eh? ;) Either way, games are about having fun. So lets all stop the bickering over whos platform is better and just PLAY SOME DAMN GAMES!!! LOL
Robert Santellan See, the problem with your argument is that it's outdated. Five or ten years ago, you could have said that "Every platform has it's own library of games, and offer experiences the others can't", but that's no longer the case. Now, there are only 3 platforms: -PC/console -Mobile -Arcade (it was here, it disappeared, and it might be back) PC and console have merged into one platform, since the consoles are simply turning into low power PCs. They offer NO new experiences compared to a PC, and the only reason they have exclusives is because MS and Sony pay for them (I mean, how else would you sell consoles?). The unique experiences that consoles offered are no longer unique: -Gaming on the TV: PC has that -Controllers: PC has that (and many more) -Quick setup: Install libraries like Steam, Origin or GoG, and you are good to go. -No fumbling with settings: GeForce Experience and AMD Gaming Evolved do that for you. -No drivers, updates: It's 2015, those are all automatic. -Quick to get in a game, just pop in a disk and play: On PC, you open your library of choice and click play. It's like the consoles have become the cheap sub-platform of PC, that's still slightly more simple than PC, but does nothing a PC won't. Mobile is probably the most growing platform, and offers new ways to play (See Gear VR, Google Cardboard), both in terms of how you play, and what types of games you play. It's a legitimate platform, whether hardcore gamers like it or not, and it's here to stay (looking at charts). Arcade might be making a comeback. This is due to VR. VR still has one major problem: How do you control your character in VR, and get accurate haptic feedback for different stimulations (touch, temperature, moisture, vibration and so on)? For most people, the problem is going to be space, as it requires a lot of space to house even a small treadmill, let alone any additional hardware. Space was never a problem for the arcade, hence why it was so popular before home computers/consoles got powerful. Seeing projects like The Void pop up, the classic arcade could be making a massive reboot, one that i think most people likely welcome. Last thing i want to mention, is that not ALL the bickering you see, is simple fanboyism about what platform is better, but can sometimes be outcries of people who are genuinely worried about the industry. A lot of anti-competetive practices, and general industry declines have been seen in the past couple years, and people are now beginning to notice, and react upon this.
Christoffer Nørskov There are still unique experiences to be had on each platform. Some of those stem from features, some from exclusive games, some from platform specific peripherals. Each platform has its own strengths and weaknesses. Also, keep in mind I do have a very extensive tech background, so I'd like to address a few points you mentioned. 1. Quick Setup using Steam, Origin and GOG: For someone like you and I, thats great and definitelty applies. But for the casual gamer? Not so much. People of that variety just wanna go to the store or a one centralized eShop to download games. So for them, having all these different places to get games can be overwhelming and confusing. Also, what about collectors? Download stores don't really cater to them. 2. No fumbling with settings: Really? You don't have to fumble with settings? What about people who want to play retro PC games or games that require particular hardware? 3. Drivers being automatic: Seriously? When was the last time you built a PC? All in all, I enjoy all platforms for what they have to offer. And I'm not just talking console to PC. I'm taking phones, tablets, PC's, Xbox, PS4, Wii U, etc., etc.
Robert Santellan 1. Yes, i know consoles are still more simple than PCs, but the argument that you don't have a centralized place for your games was mostly used back before game launchers/libraries even existed. Back when you still had to pop in a disk for every game, and there was nowhere to keep track of all your games, other than the programs list for your computer. Now, even though we have more than one library and source of games, it's a lot easer than it once was, and is fairly simple (even for the average consumer) to get into and get started. 2. This one was primarily aimed at those who play casual games. The type who will pop a disk in a console and play BF or CoD. For these guys, they assume you have to fumble with settings, which is true for some use cases, but not theirs. As for retro PC games, this is an entire category that's not even available for console gamers (Try playing any non-PS4 Playstation game in your PS4, it can't). Usually, you google it on a per-game basis wheny ou have issues. Someone has made a mod/fix, or know the easy way to make it work. 3. Last time i searched for a driver on the internet was quite a few years ago. Whether it's Windows Update taking care of them, the drivers themselves prompting an update, or someone like Steam telling you that your GPU driver is outdated, i haven't actually gone to a website to download a driver in years. I also enjoy all platforms, i just no longer consider consoles their own platform. They offer nothing but a few exclusives (just like how Linux, Windows and OSX has exclusives), they use PC hardware and no longer push the boundaries of gaming like they did a decade ago.
Christoffer Nørskov Most retro console gamers and collectors have the actual consoles and would use reverse compatibility options on modern consoles even if they did exist. So retro console gaming is very possible. It just requires the right hardware. Downloading drivers isn't an issue if you buy prebuilt, but those who do build still may have to download or manually update driver from time to time. This depends on hardware manufacturer of course.
Robert Santellan "Downloading drivers isn't an issue if you buy prebuilt" Really? What year do you live in? On all of my computers (with only the laptops and the server being prebuilt, ofc), and i still never have to bother with drivers. Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 all just work. And it's not like i don't have any obscure hardware either.
During the last segment of the video you contradicted yourself, you said "it's all about the games!", yet PC has most games and exclusives. You also said " If someone else wants to play singing and dancing games with their friends, do you really expect them to crowd around a PC to do It? " Yet you yourself brought up the fact that you can plug a PC into a T.V and play with a controller, therefore not having to "Crowd around a computer". PC is the superior platform, end of discussion.
***** Windows 10 is only free if you're upgrading from Windows 7 or 8. Otherwise you'll have to buy a license. And why not get it all for free by stealing the PC parts? If you can get them for free, why spend money, right?
Nils Lorand Because it's ultimately pointless. It's like building a £2000 car instead of buying a prebuilt £2000 car with no benefits. If you're going PC it's for performance and costs, otherwise it's pointless.
The gaming PC is synonymous with Lord Gaben and his great creation! Glorious PC Gaming Master Race! > filthy console gaming peasants can't even play in 1080p and 60fps, haha
I love PC gaming and I frequent /r/pcmasterrace but please, please, do not bring the satire outside of reddit. It just makes us look as immature as the console gamers look to us.
> can't even play in 1080p and 60fps, haha Unless you're playing Smash Bros on the Wii U ;) In all seriousness, I have a gaming PC for my PC gaming (and work) needs as well as a couple consoles for the things that only work on consoles. Most notably a Wii U and a 3DS which both offer experiences that I just can't get on my PC. Much in the same way I would never play WoW on the Wii U even if I could.
One thing that PC does better is that games don't need to have paid subscriptions to play on dedicated servers, all I just need to do is have a network connection, pay my internet service provider, and I'm set for life.
He mentioned that in the video, but thats the reason why PC's has cheating/hacking problems, not to mention the butthurt admins that will kick you from a game if you land one no-scope on him/her (battlefield 4). The subscription service prevents that by making servers more secure.
and when you do put money into a character when there's a cash shop, you actually get that advantage in-game rather than being forced to pay a sub just for multiplayer lol
What do you mean that is why there is cheating/hacking problems? sony and microsoft literally have you pay to use other peoples servers or somegames peer to peer connections. They dont add magical security. and a admin can easily ban someone for the same thing on console so idk why you would say that just for the pc.
+Jakmo Snaker sorry ment to say that console servers are just less likely to be hacked or have people cheating on them compared to pc, since hacking a pc is more convenient for the hacker, plus you don't ever hear people using aim bot on console.
"Console gamers don't have to put up with cheating" Me and a friend went back to Call of duty Modern warfare on PS3 back when i think MW3 was about to come, and there wasn't one map without rampant cheating, that shit was crazy Edit:So yea new games arent likely to have cheaters, but once support is shifted to new games it definitely ramps up
And after writing this I remembered that people frantically cheated in GTA V on PS3, it was bad playing online in open lobbies, more than once someone tried to shoot money at me to get me blocked lol
Depends on the console. Anything from the seventh generation or earlier will have cheaters. PS4 games have the occasional cheater, but I hear it's rare. Xbox One doesn't have cheaters at all yet.
Console VS PC. (4yalluw8in4) PC: - 60 FPS up to 144. - Can upgrade. - You can work on it. - Better graphics (MOSTLY dont hate on me) - mods - FREE multiplayer - Better graphics card. Console: - wait.....
those are some things for the pc, yes. However some people do not care about whatever is "objectively better", they want to be able to jump into a game without worrying about "am i playing it at the highest settings I can?" there is a reason why consoles still exist, they are a lot more user friendly and that counts for like 10 check marks.
SpeedstackC79 " they want to be able to jump into a game without worrying about "am i playing it at the highest settings I can?"" If you're worrying about that shit then a console isn't for you and you're considered an enthusiast. Stuff like that justifies $330 graphic cards and such. But really, nobody cares about them having to turn down AA from 16x to 8x for the sake of performance, performance over all. "there is a reason why consoles still exist, they are a lot more user friendly and that counts for like 10 check marks." That only counts for one.
Adam Cabbage "If you're worrying about that shit", good thing they aren't, which is why I said " *without* worrying about" "That only counts for one." on a spreadsheet yea, like linus said, life isn't a spreadsheet, an advantage a console may have may be the leading factor to someone getting a console over a pc despite the pc having more "checkmarks". That is why I said "that counts for like 10 check marks."" lol
I can't really say how hard I facepalm when somebody says Nintendo is for kids because the lack of gore, and then they play League of Legends. P.S.: I love both.
***** Good graphics don't equal good game, and the games you mention and say that have bad graphics (even if some of those don't) are at least 5 years old. I dare you run at 60fps 1080p Starcraft 2 on max detail on any current gen console. Tip: You can't. Also, some games like CS:GO, maintain not so cookie-cutting graphics because professional players play at 144fps, and it's not easy to reach that much frame rate. Heck, almost every modern game on console struggles to keep constant 30fps. The thing about PC gaming is that those same games you play on console, you have them on PC with double frame rate and better detail levels, plus the vastly superior KB+M for FPS games.
***** no, thats so wrong.Consoles have significantly worse hardware than what you can get in a pc for the same price. They do have lag you just don't notice it because you've never played on anything better.
WELL ACTUALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY LINUS, both my pc and console and their respective screens are side by side on the same desk. Who wants to walk to another room to play on a different system. PFTTT the REAL master race has all consoles and a pc in one room.
Yes! I have my PC to play ARMA, CS, etc. And I have a separate TV and a PS4 to play games like NHL and FIFA on the console. Why have just one, when you can have both?
than why is it shown on every picture on the internet and when i see it in person its super gray and deprived of color and doesn't look as polished sorry buddy your jsut a fan boy it sooooo has that
+guygamer65 Its not just graphics.. Thats not why people get PC's.. Its a reason, but it is not THE reason.. They get higher FPS on games such as GTA V, which is locked at 1080p 30 FPS on PS4.. I have a $2300 PC and I am FAR from rich.. I saved up for it for 11 months... AND I have a PS4.. I definitely prefer my PC. End of story
Omg this is all stupid. I am a die hard console fan, been so for years but even I know that objectively a pc is better. Better graphics and frame rates, upgradeable and more for your money. No arguing there. What I don't like is the "PC master race" "console peasant" shit like that. A platform is a platform, you play what you want on what you want so long as you're happy with it. I'm sticking with console as it is what I know, I like it and it's fun for me. I accept pc is better, but in all honesty anyone who tries to argue against that is cancer and anyone who says pc master race is cancer. Case closed.
Predator 117 a nice and pcmr friendly post but you can hardly describe it straight up "better" you bought a console too Consoles have their advantages like if you are a fan of a specific exclusive i changed from xbox 360 to pc when starcraft 2 was released (i still had my xbox 360 but i didnt play any othet game than starcraft 1-2 for years in that time) I can see some people buying ps4 bcs they love uncharted or buy x1 bcs they love halo Also my first console was an xbox 360 bcs before that my father had a pc but i literaly couldnt start a game without his help and on the xbox 360 its far easier and i could play without my fathers permission xP
My toaster has a 6 slot burner and uses 750 watts yea with I'm operating system breadendows 7 also never use toaster struddle it sucks for my burner card i got a gtx 280f
Peter Quill That argument is pretty stupid. It's not a case of affording it, it's a case of justifying spending money on it. Two completely different things. As a guy with a combined PC gaming and home theater setup worth a little over $12k, i still won't justify buying a console, because it's a box that does some of what my PC does, just worse, but then plays a single game or two that the PC doesn't have. I would rather upgrade my current setup with more speakers, more gpus, better cpu, more harddrives, a second theater than buy a console, because it makes more sense, it adds something, while the console doesn't really add anything to my setup
There us nothing a console can offer me that I can't do better on my PC. Literally the only thing consoles have that PC doesn't are a few exclusives and none of them are worth $400+
trier4952 How is it limiting? PC has more than 4000 games available. A console would only increase that list by what, like 5? Consoles don't have enough good exclusives to justify a 350-400$ console and 60$ per game
So basically, the only reason to buy a console is for the games? That's the heart of the issue here. Nobody should make games for console companies who hold exclusives hostage from each other, who divide their customers with hardware paywalls, and who refuse to allow cross-platform multiplayer or free development of indie titles on their system. This has never been a battle over which platform is "better". We all know the PC is better. It's about which platforms are a cancer on the gaming inudstry and must be killed off in order to preserve gaming for future generations. It's good vs evil. Open platforms vs closed platforms.
It really boils down to ignorance. People don't understand that their XBOX is a computer with a different interface. They don't want to learn how to build one, and they in turn see expensive custom-built PC's and say the cost-benefit is too low. That's all it is, ignorance of how it works.
I only bought PS4 because I don't want to deal with ubisoft uplay and origin only titles. I strictly have steam because I hate to spread my personal billing information around different companies. I rather have it only on steam. I wonder if someone else has the same reason.
Id have to disagree with some of what linus stated. Try this. Play the first mario, pokemon gold, pokemon silver, mario 64, and any other number of old console games. Guess what, pc can emulate all of them for free. Try doing that with all consoles, right you need to buy every console to get the same ability as a computer. Console exclusive games that people actually care about? Lets see the current list imgur.com/TCRFBGs And of course as of right now GTA 5 for console only. This is a few games off but still proves a point. Either buy every console for every game you want to play or buy a pc, and a console that has your favorite games. Honestly that is the best bet. Hell there is even an emulator for ps3 and xbox 360 already out on the internet. Kinda makes all older consoles useless.
MarioDragon This isnt my picture. This was done by IGN... Still can you play pokemon on your xbox? Can you play ps exclusive old games? Or the opposite if you own a ps. Sorry but to play all of the console games a pc can you would have to pay upwards of 5000$ for mostly consoles alone which boosts what linus already said. My 2002 450$ computer can play every emulated game up to ps2/xbox and still play the free games. Of course i also have a gaming laptop and a gaming desktop as well. I mean, most people have pc's anyway I just updated mine to the most current.
That's kind a bad argument since you can play all of thous games you mentioned for free also if you pirate them, since that's what emulating the game is, it's not "hur dur free content" it's piracy both in terms of the game and the console. Besides you can get SNES with GBA adapter and all the pokemons and Mario Collection for pretty cheap these days. Don't know about N64 and Mario64 thou.
***** Emulators are not completly illegal. If you have ever purchased the game then you have rights to play any game through an emulator, it is only illegal if you never purchased it, and even then a friend can purchase the game and you can still legally use an emulator as "renting". Emulators can play multiplayer as a lan, one such program is VBA Link.
Theres another factor you didn't take into account Once the PC is built, it can be upgraded Which means if for example, I wanted to build a PC to compete with the PS4, which would probably be something like an i7 2700k paired with a GTX 750ti, which would giive you pretty similar performance and visual quality while still giving you an upgrade path, and being reasonably cheap at the time, though still costing more than a PS4 at its release date then if i wanted to compete with the PS5, i could take the same computer, install a 1080ti and some more RAM, and leave said PS5 in the dust (im aware the PS5 has more RAM, but that ram is shared between the CPU and GPU, thus, not all RAM is available for rendering pixels) And at the time of the PS5 release, a used 1080ti was cheaper than buying a PS5 (not taking scalper prices into account) My current PC, which ive had since 2016 runs rings around any console on the market and always has, started as a 4790k (golden chip) 32GB of RAM, and a GTX970, now its the same 4790k the same 32GB of RAM, and a 3060ti, total cost to me including upgrades has been around $1100 (used parts) total cost of 2 playstation generations would be $1300 (AU) so im financially better off with the PC than the console, while getting far better performance and visual quality With overclocking, i could easily get another 2 console generations before ill need to upgrade the CPU to avoid a bottleneck, since i have a golden chip that can hold 5ghz on all cores
I'm just gonna say this and this is coming from a console gamer. Yes PC is superior to console in the graphics, speed, free online without a subscription and backwards compatibility of games. But what I like about gaming on consoles for me is that most of my friends rarely game on PC. Plus yes PC has a lot of exclusives but not many of them interest me. That's not to say they're bad because I'm certain many of the exclusives on PC are excellent. It's just some of them don't suit the types of games I play and if I can get it on consoles to play with friends, then I will. Honestly the whole console vs PC argument is just unnecessary. It's all subjective anyway. If you like PC that's perfectly fine. If you like consoles that's perfectly fine. (Btw I play games on PC but I don't really consider myself a PC gamer since I play on consoles more.) Let's just enjoy the games we have and not argue over this.
+RantinRaginOtter The guy is trying to stop the argue and you are fanning it again... You "Pc gamers" are seriously pathetic and yes I do play on console but i have pc which can run fallout 4 on 1080 55-60 fps...
+MaxGamingChannel I hate arguing about pc vs console crap. I recently got into pc gaming, and I love it. Console is the easier way to go, but pc is better in a lot things, and console is better than a lot of things. At the end of the day, we are all just gamers whether we play on console or pc :)
I choose pc because A) frames B) lasts longer C) all ym friends have pc and it makes it better to play with them D) I can use my pc for anything E) no paid services
Human Atom no, it’s because it’s a dumb idea that serves no purpose. Digital distribution services have had the chance to do this for quite a while now. The fact that they haven’t means that they’re not interested in engaging in anti-consumer practices to make more money. Why? Because they have competition. Because they will lose users rapidly. That’s why that can’t really happen.
Does a PC last longer? How long does a successful console last? A decade? Have you not a bought more than 1 PC a decade? PS2 2000-2009 I played it and was supported for some time after that, XBox 360 2005-2014, PS4 is 2013-????
@VeryZestyLemon with all of your superior tech, what games are you playing on PC? DOta2, WOW, LoL, or Minecraft? Probably games that don't take advantage of the superior tech. Meanwhile I can play HZD, GoW, RDR2, all great looking games not on PC. As far as newer exclusives, consoles crushes PC. Not disputing PC will always have a tech advantage, but consoles have the new game exclusive advantage. We are talking about actual gaming, right? Consoles win.
PCs are more economical. Console is just for gaming, PC is multi purpose. The keyboard-mouse combo with an option to use any other controllers is just cherry on top.
TheNinjaCrash they’re pretty legitimate advantages. You just happen to prefer those of the console. Edit: uhhh... if you can’t play on your PC at work, I’m gonna guess you can’t play on your console at work, either. Maybe I’m wrong, but you’d be one in a million in that regard.
Peter Quill Plenty, so many that you could write a novel. But that's no fun. It's way more fun to try and make an argument against his claim. You really can't. Everytime someone makes and argument for why PC isn't better, it's based on misinformation and/or bullshit
Peter Quill Ok, let's make an agreement, i make my arguments, you try to debunk them and come up with your own arguments against it, alright here we go: Arguments for why the PC is better: -Better graphics quality -Better resolution (both higher supported and higher average) -Better framerate -Better controller support (pretty much everything is supported, even potatoes) -Bigger game library (we have thousands of games, like, several thousands) -More exclusives (many people believe otherwise, but we have more exclusives coming out in 2014-2016 that are of a big budget than consoles have games... combined) -Versatility (you can use it as a PC, browsing, work, entertainment) -Upgradeability (Something you want/don't want, you can have it or leave it out) -We can emulate certain older consoles (anything older than ps3/x360, with those two almost ready) -Design (since you can build it exactly the way you want it, you can argue the design of a PC is better) -Backwards compatability (not much needs to be said, try popping that PS3 game in your PS4) -More space (not sure how much space consoles have, but they are limited to a 2.5" drive, meanwhile my desktop has 10 terrabytes, my server has 2TB and my laptop has 1TB) -More accessory support (want a drawing tablet? gotcha. want an extra screen, gotcha. want to connect 3 different speaker systems? gotcha, and so on) -You are not locked into an OS you don't want (although game selection is limited on non-windows OSes, it's still there) -Using a non-locked down OS means you can integrate other things into it. Something like controlling part of a game with a smartphone is a lot easier to implement on a PC (third party or not) These are what i have so far, try and come up with some counterarguments
Peter Quill So, i started typing a reply and a misclick closed the notification window and deleted the reply. It will have to wait until later when i have more time then..
Peter Quill "Yes you're right here but I hope you know getting to this point comes at a price, more expensive than consoles." Not nessecarily (depends on where you live OFC). You can get quite good hardware for really cheap, especially considering the lack of long term costs. "Wii U can use the Wii U tablet, Wii U pro controller, 3DS, N64 controllers, and every Wii controller. PC you can use almost every controller but not on every game." Fair enough, the nintendo motion controls are not supported in PC games (although i think they are in wii emulators). BUT, you can use a controller in every game. There are profilers where it simply downloads a profile for whatever game you are playing "Yes if you consider the fact anyone can just make a game on PC.... " That would still be a benefit, right? "I can browse the internet on my console, I can play my games, and I can use apps like ESPN or Netflix." Yes, but you only have whatever apps sony and MC want you to have. If i don't like netflix and want to use Kodi or Plex instead with my own library, i don't have that option. That's what i mean by "it's a pc", that i can do WHATEVER i want. "You can upgrade certain parts of your consoles. And you can upgrade whenever the newer ones come out. " Pretty much only the harddrive. Also, i wouldn't call buying a new console upgrading any more than buying a new pc is not upgrading the last one. "I can just get that console and play the original games without the bugs and tricks that are in emulators." Well, consoles take up space, the more space the more you have. Also, some consoles are really hard to find, and most games practically impossible. "Also the OUYA (a console) is basically a emulator." So is the 35$ Raspberry Pi "Let's take the PS4 (smooth, and what others call sexy) to a PC (bulging tower). I'm sure we can agree which design is better here :P" Well, not all PCs are bulging towers. And that wasn't my point. My point was that when you can customize it to any extent, it would consider that a benefit rather than a single design, maybe with a few color variations (you could even fit a PC inside a PS4 case if you wanted) "Well the PS2, Early versions of the PS3, Certain version of the Xbox 360, the Wii U, the 3DS and PS4 (with PS Now) are a all backwards compatible. " I made this argument based on the current consoles, the PS4 and Xbox one who do not have backwards compatability. "You can always expand your consoles space with new hard drives." They only have space for a 2.5" internal. Currently that will net you 1TB at normal thickness, up to 2 i think if it supports thicker drives. Meanwhile a desktop drive will go up to 8 TB per drive, supporting multiple drives per system (normally between 4 and 8). Multiple drives also allows for an ssd and large hdd combo, for ultimate game loading times "You can use a Microsoft tablet on the Xbone, PS Vita on the PS4, etc." Yes, that's 1 accessory for each, not exactly groundbreaking IMO. "Not to mention Holo Lens and Project Morpheus." Sorry if this sound offensive, but project morpheus looks like a joke compared to the numerous VR solutions on PC. Also, Holo Lens is currently not an accessory, but a device in and of itself. It's running Windows Hologram, and will likely support communication with both PCs and Xbox. "Also you can use Keyboard and Mouse on consoles. You can just plug into USB spot and play for games like DC Universe Online or you can get an accessory called XMB1( I think) that let use them on games like Battlefield. " Yes, but as far as i have heard, KB&M support is wonky, and very few games support it. And you have to buy that adapter to use it on non-supported games. "Let's be honest if you want to actually PC game you'll need Windows (which is on Xbox), which kind of means that you're OS locked, because can you really game with Linux? " The game library on linux is still limited, especially in the AAA department, but it's growing rapidly. Let's move on to some console pros: - Equal playing field. Scuff controllers, different size/resolution TVs, different quality internet connections, different quality headsets, so not exactly any more equal than a PC. - Used games and being able to borrow them. Steam Friends-and-Family sharing, pretty much the same thing just digital. Also, games are cheap enough that we don't need to lend or resell them. It's pretty normal in the PC community to just gift a friend a game. - Simplicity This was a thing... maybe a decade ago. Now, consoles have crashes, patches, buggy games, just like PCs. (also, Steam is pretty darn simple if you ask me) - You can get 24 games a year, exclusive offers and sales on in store items for just 50$ a year. We don't have to pay 50$ a year to get free games and we have sales all the time that are cheaper than your exclusive offers - Cheaper (let's be honest you can't get a PC that runs the same or better than consoles for the same price maybe 500$.) If a console costs 350$, a PC to equate it in performance will cost (in the US) approximately 400-500$ depending on how well you shop. With an average game price of 60$ on consoles for new AAA games, and 30$ on PC for the same games, you would need to buy a mere 3 games for the PC to be as cheap (assuming you DONT buy subscription for multiplayer) - Great Exclusives (Just look at sales, reviews, etc.) We have more, and they are just as good. Combined, our sales numbers are bigger (it's just a bit harder to count, since we have a couple thousand exclusives) -Quality games (not buggy, laggy, and broken ports. With the exception of AC Unity. This was a thing last generation. The current generatin has had more bugs in the ~1 year it has been out than the entire previous generation had. - Things like Shareplay Shareplay? You let someone else play your game? Or you stream your game? We can share our games with Friends-and-Family sharing. We can stream our games with tools like Game DVR, Shadowplay, Fraps, DXtory and so on - Exclusive game types and series No, No, No. I know this is very commonly thought, but it's wrong. With several thousand exclusives, and entire exclusive genres, PC is and will always be the king of exclusives. The reason it's thought otherwise is because no PC exclusives blow 350$ million on advertising (cought, Destiny, cough). Sony and Microsoft both have sales teams pitching all the exclusives to sell more consoles, while they simply exist on PC, no big company announces them like MS or sony do. - Mother company giving you support. I'm not sure what you mean here? - More players. (Besides LoL and Dota) No. Just no. Steam alone has 100 million users. The new generation consoles haven't sold that many... combined. Also, you can't exclude LoL and Dota for your own convenience:D - No virus and crashes. For viruses: same on PC for 99.9% of the population. Most are avoided by common sense, a basic antivirus will take the rest For crashes: mostly crashes happen because the user fucks something up with the hardware. Consoles have crashes as well. You have to go back to PS2 days before crashes were a non-issue on consoles - Split Screen (easier and more games are split screen on consoles) Not really easier, but there are more games that support it though (although our list of local multiplayer games isn't exactly empty either, i have had plenty of fun playing plenty of different splitscreen games on PC) - TV Play (easier on consoles) No, it's just as easy to plug an HDMI cable into your computer as it is on your console. There is no setting up, it just works (a single keyboard shortcut may be needed on some computers) - All your friends are in one place Steam, no other service competes Blizzard, no other service competes Lol, no other service competes On PC, most people people only focus mainly on one of these 3 platforms, and therefore also only need to use one platform. - No DRM or Priacy (Did you see how Ubisoft took Far Cry 4 from PC players who use G2A?) Yes, you have DRM, and no, DRM isn't a problem for most games (Ubisoft is a dick, and EA is questionable, but for the most part) As for piracy, i read several articles based on scientific research saying console piracy was a much bigger issue than PC piracy. Also, the Farcry 4 thing, everybody got their games back, Ubisoft fucked it up. - Reliable See my response to crashes, pretty much the same thing - Less self reliant Not sure what you mean here? - Don't miss out on DLCs and updates for games like COD as much as PC.. Ok, this is just my own opinion, but the DLC in CoD are absolutely shit. It splits up the already dwindling CoD community into more segments that can't play together, as some games you can't turn off DLC Other than CoD, we don't really miss out on much. I mean GTA V is a bit late, but they have pretty much remade the game and added enough features that they could have made several expansion packs instead of including them Sorry if this seems a bit ranty, but it's been a long day, so just to clarify: none of this is any kind of attack against you, I'm just too tired to formulate it in a better way.
PC: - you can play Skyrim, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and similar games using mouse and keyboard - requires a bit of knowledge about computers, memory, graphic cards, etc. - might give you the curiosity to learn more about how it works. Example: as a child I used to play Amiga games, later I decided to study computer science and finally I became a computer programmer Console: - you don't need to know anything about computers - you can just sit on your sofa and start playing - can take advantage of you huge TV - separates the tool you use for working and studying (PC) from the tool for entertainment (console) Personally I prefer the PC
The last console point is huge. I use pc for very little gaming and mainly use it for Audio Production, the problem is is when I had steam installed and played games mostly on pc I found myself slacking on work bc the games were always on the desktop, so was Reaper, but the bois might be on whatever new CoD
Kids building PC: BUY overpowered CPU i7. BUY overpriced Motherboard (400$) BUY SSD for OS faster boot. BUY ugly & huge case. * BUY very cheap PSU * BUY Very cheap GPU.. ---------------------------------------------- After build is done go to pc forum and ask this qustion: Why I get only 10 fps when I play tetris?
+ONETWO A few critiques. An i7 is not overpowered by default. It has plenty of benefits over an i5, and frankly, the Skylake i7 is a much better performer than the equivalent i5. A motherboard costing 400$ is not overpriced if it has features that cheaper motherboards lack. Usually, this includes better power delivery for more overclocking, more PCI-E slots, more IO, and better quality components (lasts longer). And SSD as a boot drive is a good idea regardless of what purpose the computer has. A case's looks is subjective, and size has it's benefits. I have a 900D. I don't come close to filling it up, but the extra space has enabled a couple things, like better thermals and lower noise. Lastly, kids usually buy prebuilds, don't build them themselves.
+Christoffer Nørskov 900d user eh? I have to say, that is probably my 3rd favourite case (after the caselabs sma8 and the cooler master cosmos 2). Very good for liquid cooling.
GreatScooty you could also just connect 2 hdmis to your graphics card and plug one into your pc and one into you tv and swap between them whenever you like.
That is literally what I do. I just set it to duplicate, and I'm all set. Can control the computer from my desk and play with friends, and it goes straight to the TV. There's even Controller Companion now. I can just use my 360 controller to navigate the entire computer.
Wait a sec... How many of you actually have your PC hooked up to a big screen HDTV and/or use controllers? I have my gaming computer connected to a 42" HDTV and it's worked flawlessly for years. The only downfall is the fact that I can't game at higher than 1080p, but my system isn't stupid powerful anyway so that's a non-issue. Linus makes it sound like I'm the minority of PC users, I thought the PC/HDTV set-up was a lot more common.
I do, but I'm kinda the only person I know IRL that does it. I have 3 PCs, my rig, the 'alt low end rig' where friends play and I test stuff, and the HTPC.
I have 3 monitors, among which is a HD TV on which I watch films and play games with my controller when im too tired to sit behind the desk. Most of the pro console claims are non issues with no actual fact behind it

@@gamermapper funny joke

The main problem is that consoles make PC games worse.

Medachod I have seen this before, and it falls apart here:
"But that all changed when the PC Master Race attacked."
Consoles have been fighting between themselves since two competing consoles existed (many decades ago). Consoles also enjoyed decades of bashing PC gamers, because the consoles were once the better value. Nothing has changed, except for who currently holds the stick.
Christoffer Nørskov You are telling me that PC gamers did NOT go on about how much better they were?
Medachod Yes, in the beginning, it was consoles who were ridiculing PC users, because consoles had better performance/price back in the day. Also, consoles are still fighting withing themselves to this day. If you have seen the ridiculous shit that gets spewed whenever an Xbox and PS fanboy meet. Those conversations get so stupid, you feel like you loose 10 IQ just by reading them.

Tabushka I take it you used Steam Link App for TV?
A mouse is more accurate and pc has full support for controllers, but you'll never fail if you have both
I use PC, but you missed the point.

GHOSTRIKER j The difference is this:
The PC can also play games (including splitscreen and local multiplayer) on a 70" TV
The console can't play modded ass version of anything.
Christoffer Nørskov i know, but why would i want my PC in my living room? What I'm saying is, when you have both, you can take advantage of both.
Also, PC aint gat dat Halo
GHOSTRIKER j Why would you want your PC in the living room?
Two things:
First, to game at 1080p and 60fps (or more, depending on your TV).
The true advantages the console has over the PC are:
1.) You run into much less problems/glitches as far as running the game, error-free, etc.

Now, there are only 3 platforms:
-PC/console
-Mobile
-Arcade (it was here, it disappeared, and it might be back)
PC and console have merged into one platform, since the consoles are simply turning into low power PCs. They offer NO new experiences compared to a PC, and the only reason they have exclusives is because MS and Sony pay for them (I mean, how else would you sell consoles?).
The unique experiences that consoles offered are no longer unique:
-Gaming on the TV: PC has that
-Controllers: PC has that (and many more)
-Quick setup: Install libraries like Steam, Origin or GoG, and you are good to go.
VR still has one major problem:
How do you control your character in VR, and get accurate haptic feedback for different stimulations (touch, temperature, moisture, vibration and so on)?
Robert Santellan
Robert Santellan
"Downloading drivers isn't an issue if you buy prebuilt"
Really?

In all seriousness, I have a gaming PC for my PC gaming (and work) needs as well as a couple consoles for the things that only work on consoles.
+Trenton Davis where the fuck do u get ur information wtf

Also, some games like CS:GO, maintain not so cookie-cutting graphics because professional players play at 144fps, and it's not easy to reach that much frame rate. Heck, almost every modern game on console struggles to keep constant 30fps.
The thing about PC gaming is that those same games you play on console, you have them on PC with double frame rate and better detail levels, plus the vastly superior KB+M for FPS games.

Predator 117 you know the PCMR is literally a joke.
Dubsy 102 You should let some of the people in the comments know. I don't think they were told.
The only smart person out of all these retarded commenters
Predator 117 console peasants aren’t a term to describe people such as you though, it describes those who won’t admit the superiority of PC.
Predator 117 a nice and pcmr friendly post but you can hardly describe it straight up "better" you bought a console too
Consoles have their advantages like if you are a fan of a specific exclusive i changed from xbox 360 to pc when starcraft 2 was released (i still had my xbox 360 but i didnt play any othet game than starcraft 1-2 for years in that time)
I can see some people buying ps4 bcs they love uncharted or buy x1 bcs they love halo
Also my first console was an xbox 360 bcs before that my father had a pc but i literaly couldnt start a game without his help and on the xbox 360 its far easier and i could play without my fathers permission xP
My toaster has a 6 slot burner and uses 750 watts yea with I'm operating system breadendows 7 also never use toaster struddle it sucks for my burner card i got a gtx 280f
lol
I play on both PC and Consoles, and I am well entertained by each.
Why can't everyone else be like me?
Peter Quill
I can't afford it either, I need to build a new PC, and get a next gen console, but I have played on both. Its not all that expensive.
Literally the only thing consoles have that PC doesn't are a few exclusives and none of them are worth $400+
robpsychobob
With that attitude, you're limiting your entertainment options. Many console games are worth playing.
trier4952 How is it limiting? PC has more than 4000 games available. A console would only increase that list by what, like 5? Consoles don't have enough good exclusives to justify a 350-400$ console and 60$ per game
1. Quit playing outdoor sports
2. Complain about lack of realism
3. Start building your own PC
Omg that's me
So basically, the only reason to buy a console is for the games?
Yes, the only reason to buy a console was for the games, now that it can do way more than play games, so what's the problem?
I only bought PS4 because I don't want to deal with ubisoft uplay and origin only titles. I strictly have steam because I hate to spread my personal billing information around different companies. I rather have it only on steam. I wonder if someone else has the same reason.
Open platforms vs closed platforms. That kinda sounds like Windows Vs Mac or an Android Vs IOS
imsuchaniceguy Shades of grey. Even Linux distributions aren't perfect. But yes some PC platforms are more open than others.
Lets see the current list imgur.com/TCRFBGs
And of course as of right now GTA 5 for console only. This is a few games off but still proves a point.
Either buy every console for every game you want to play or buy a pc, and a console that has your favorite games. Honestly that is the best bet. Hell there is even an emulator for ps3 and xbox 360 already out on the internet. Kinda makes all older consoles useless.
I do like how you only listed old games that are still better on the actual console because it doesn't have that 'fake' feel to it
MarioDragon
This isnt my picture.
Until they release GTAV for PC.
*****
Emulators are not completly illegal. If you have ever purchased the game then you have rights to play any game through an emulator, it is only illegal if you never purchased it, and even then a friend can purchase the game and you can still legally use an emulator as "renting".
Emulators can play multiplayer as a lan, one such program is VBA Link.
He uploaded this video at 4k, just for the sake of subject
as well as the rest of his videos ....
Ya know.. It was a joke...
Theres another factor you didn't take into account
Once the PC is built, it can be upgraded
Which means if for example,
I wanted to build a PC to compete with the PS4, which would probably be something like an i7 2700k paired with a GTX 750ti, which would giive you pretty similar performance and visual quality while still giving you an upgrade path, and being reasonably cheap at the time, though still costing more than a PS4 at its release date
then if i wanted to compete with the PS5, i could take the same computer, install a 1080ti and some more RAM, and leave said PS5 in the dust (im aware the PS5 has more RAM, but that ram is shared between the CPU and GPU, thus, not all RAM is available for rendering pixels)
And at the time of the PS5 release, a used 1080ti was cheaper than buying a PS5 (not taking scalper prices into account)
My current PC, which ive had since 2016 runs rings around any console on the market and always has, started as a 4790k (golden chip) 32GB of RAM, and a GTX970, now its the same 4790k the same 32GB of RAM, and a 3060ti, total cost to me including upgrades has been around $1100 (used parts) total cost of 2 playstation generations would be $1300 (AU) so im financially better off with the PC than the console, while getting far better performance and visual quality
With overclocking, i could easily get another 2 console generations before ill need to upgrade the CPU to avoid a bottleneck, since i have a golden chip that can hold 5ghz on all cores
OR... YOU JUST BUY A CONSOLE FOR CHEAPER EVERY ~7 YEARS AND PLAY THE BEST RATED AND BEST LOOKING GAMES...
🤡🌍
I can totally understand why people buy consoles but 144hz and mouse+keyboard is just to importabt for me :)
Don't forger price. If you buy enough games its cheaper than console.
+RantinRaginOtter The guy is trying to stop the argue and you are fanning it again... You "Pc gamers" are seriously pathetic and yes I do play on console but i have pc which can run fallout 4 on 1080 55-60 fps...
+MaxGamingChannel Im just stating a point.
And starting a fight...
Strato_54 I also choose PC bc I can aim better with a mouse than with a console
I choose console because I can
@VeryZestyLemon with all of your superior tech, what games are you playing on PC? DOta2, WOW, LoL, or Minecraft? Probably games that don't take advantage of the superior tech. Meanwhile I can play HZD, GoW, RDR2, all great looking games not on PC. As far as newer exclusives, consoles crushes PC. Not disputing PC will always have a tech advantage, but consoles have the new game exclusive advantage. We are talking about actual gaming, right? Consoles win.
PCs are more economical. Console is just for gaming, PC is multi purpose. The keyboard-mouse combo with an option to use any other controllers is just cherry on top.

I have several questions
Me to
Me to
Haha🤣
Once you go PC gaming you never go back.
I can't play Enter The Gungeon on my PC when I'm at work. So no, going back from PC is EZ when you don't care about the "advantages" of PC
@@Sam-oq1zm My bad. I was thinking about my Switch when I was writing that comment. THAT I can play at work and it's "technically" a console
Really I do
Truuu
99% of everybody that watches this channel is PC
98.3% actually...
null 98.25986% actually
Wait, PC watches videos?
100%
bakasora what the even even even grammar the is the good
Ok, ok, but PC has something consoles don't... P0rn games.
Microsoft: *Makes Xbox One, also makes pc's*
Sony: *Makes PS4, also makes pc's*
+Ron Lo who does that matter :) ?
GranVlog do u even grammar bro?
Ron Lo yes, ofc. "why does that matter?"
We all make mistakes at some point :)
+Ron Lo so sony and microsoft make pcs?? pls do tell me more /s
Only Sony and Microsoft PCs i know about are overpriced Note-/Ultrabooks. Good luck trying to run newer games on them.
what if i don't have a couch?
Use your toilet seat in living room
Then get the Wii
onkar shinde very wise
Oxtron Productions then get a pc
well then you're fucked sorry mate
I prefer PC because it's better
Peter Quill Plenty, so many that you could write a novel. But that's no fun. It's way more fun to try and make an argument against his claim. You really can't. Everytime someone makes and argument for why PC isn't better, it's based on misinformation and/or bullshit
Peter Quill Ok, let's make an agreement, i make my arguments, you try to debunk them and come up with your own arguments against it, alright here we go:
Arguments for why the PC is better:
-Better graphics quality
-Better resolution (both higher supported and higher average)
-Better framerate
-Better controller support (pretty much everything is supported, even potatoes)
-Bigger game library (we have thousands of games, like, several thousands)
-More exclusives (many people believe otherwise, but we have more exclusives coming out in 2014-2016 that are of a big budget than consoles have games... combined)
-Versatility (you can use it as a PC, browsing, work, entertainment)
-Upgradeability (Something you want/don't want, you can have it or leave it out)
-We can emulate certain older consoles (anything older than ps3/x360, with those two almost ready)
-Design (since you can build it exactly the way you want it, you can argue the design of a PC is better)
-Backwards compatability (not much needs to be said, try popping that PS3 game in your PS4)
-More space (not sure how much space consoles have, but they are limited to a 2.5" drive, meanwhile my desktop has 10 terrabytes, my server has 2TB and my laptop has 1TB)
-More accessory support (want a drawing tablet? gotcha. want an extra screen, gotcha. want to connect 3 different speaker systems? gotcha, and so on)
-You are not locked into an OS you don't want (although game selection is limited on non-windows OSes, it's still there)
-Using a non-locked down OS means you can integrate other things into it. Something like controlling part of a game with a smartphone is a lot easier to implement on a PC (third party or not)
These are what i have so far, try and come up with some counterarguments
Peter Quill Fair enough, will go to bed, so i likely won't respond to anything for 8-16 hours
Peter Quill So, i started typing a reply and a misclick closed the notification window and deleted the reply. It will have to wait until later when i have more time then..
Peter Quill "Yes you're right here but I hope you know getting to this point comes at a price, more expensive than consoles."
Not nessecarily (depends on where you live OFC). You can get quite good hardware for really cheap, especially considering the lack of long term costs.
"Wii U can use the Wii U tablet, Wii U pro controller, 3DS, N64 controllers, and every Wii controller. PC you can use almost every controller but not on every game."
Fair enough, the nintendo motion controls are not supported in PC games (although i think they are in wii emulators). BUT, you can use a controller in every game. There are profilers where it simply downloads a profile for whatever game you are playing
"Yes if you consider the fact anyone can just make a game on PC.... "
That would still be a benefit, right?
"I can browse the internet on my console, I can play my games, and I can use apps like ESPN or Netflix."
Yes, but you only have whatever apps sony and MC want you to have. If i don't like netflix and want to use Kodi or Plex instead with my own library, i don't have that option. That's what i mean by "it's a pc", that i can do WHATEVER i want.
"You can upgrade certain parts of your consoles. And you can upgrade whenever the newer ones come out. "
Pretty much only the harddrive. Also, i wouldn't call buying a new console upgrading any more than buying a new pc is not upgrading the last one.
"I can just get that console and play the original games without the bugs and tricks that are in emulators."
Well, consoles take up space, the more space the more you have. Also, some consoles are really hard to find, and most games practically impossible.
"Also the OUYA (a console) is basically a emulator."
So is the 35$ Raspberry Pi
"Let's take the PS4 (smooth, and what others call sexy) to a PC (bulging tower). I'm sure we can agree which design is better here :P"
Well, not all PCs are bulging towers. And that wasn't my point. My point was that when you can customize it to any extent, it would consider that a benefit rather than a single design, maybe with a few color variations (you could even fit a PC inside a PS4 case if you wanted)
"Well the PS2, Early versions of the PS3, Certain version of the Xbox 360, the Wii U, the 3DS and PS4 (with PS Now) are a all backwards compatible. "
I made this argument based on the current consoles, the PS4 and Xbox one who do not have backwards compatability.
"You can always expand your consoles space with new hard drives."
They only have space for a 2.5" internal. Currently that will net you 1TB at normal thickness, up to 2 i think if it supports thicker drives. Meanwhile a desktop drive will go up to 8 TB per drive, supporting multiple drives per system (normally between 4 and 8). Multiple drives also allows for an ssd and large hdd combo, for ultimate game loading times
"You can use a Microsoft tablet on the Xbone, PS Vita on the PS4, etc."
Yes, that's 1 accessory for each, not exactly groundbreaking IMO.
"Not to mention Holo Lens and Project Morpheus."
Sorry if this sound offensive, but project morpheus looks like a joke compared to the numerous VR solutions on PC.
Yes, but as far as i have heard, KB&M support is wonky, and very few games support it. And you have to buy that adapter to use it on non-supported games.
"Let's be honest if you want to actually PC game you'll need Windows (which is on Xbox), which kind of means that you're OS locked, because can you really game with Linux? "
The game library on linux is still limited, especially in the AAA department, but it's growing rapidly.
Let's move on to some console pros:
- Equal playing field.
- Simplicity
This was a thing... maybe a decade ago. Now, consoles have crashes, patches, buggy games, just like PCs. (also, Steam is pretty darn simple if you ask me)
- You can get 24 games a year, exclusive offers and sales on in store items for just 50$ a year.
We don't have to pay 50$ a year to get free games and we have sales all the time that are cheaper than your exclusive offers
- Cheaper (let's be honest you can't get a PC that runs the same or better than consoles for the same price maybe 500$.)
If a console costs 350$, a PC to equate it in performance will cost (in the US) approximately 400-500$ depending on how well you shop. With an average game price of 60$ on consoles for new AAA games, and 30$ on PC for the same games, you would need to buy a mere 3 games for the PC to be as cheap (assuming you DONT buy subscription for multiplayer)
- Great Exclusives (Just look at sales, reviews, etc.)
We have more, and they are just as good. Combined, our sales numbers are bigger (it's just a bit harder to count, since we have a couple thousand exclusives)
-Quality games (not buggy, laggy, and broken ports. With the exception of AC Unity.
This was a thing last generation. The current generatin has had more bugs in the ~1 year it has been out than the entire previous generation had.
- Things like Shareplay
Shareplay? You let someone else play your game? Or you stream your game?
We can share our games with Friends-and-Family sharing.
We can stream our games with tools like Game DVR, Shadowplay, Fraps, DXtory and so on
- Exclusive game types and series
No, No, No.
(Besides LoL and Dota)
No. Just no. Steam alone has 100 million users. The new generation consoles haven't sold that many... combined. Also, you can't exclude LoL and Dota for your own convenience:D
- No virus and crashes.
For viruses: same on PC for 99.9% of the population. Most are avoided by common sense, a basic antivirus will take the rest
For crashes: mostly crashes happen because the user fucks something up with the hardware. Consoles have crashes as well. You have to go back to PS2 days before crashes were a non-issue on consoles
- Split Screen (easier and more games are split screen on consoles)
Not really easier, but there are more games that support it though (although our list of local multiplayer games isn't exactly empty either, i have had plenty of fun playing plenty of different splitscreen games on PC)
- TV Play (easier on consoles)
No, it's just as easy to plug an HDMI cable into your computer as it is on your console. There is no setting up, it just works (a single keyboard shortcut may be needed on some computers)
- All your friends are in one place
Steam, no other service competes
Blizzard, no other service competes
Lol, no other service competes
On PC, most people people only focus mainly on one of these 3 platforms, and therefore also only need to use one platform.
- No DRM or Priacy (Did you see how Ubisoft took Far Cry 4 from PC players who use G2A?)
Yes, you have DRM, and no, DRM isn't a problem for most games (Ubisoft is a dick, and EA is questionable, but for the most part)
As for piracy, i read several articles based on scientific research saying console piracy was a much bigger issue than PC piracy. Also, the Farcry 4 thing, everybody got their games back, Ubisoft fucked it up.
- Reliable
See my response to crashes, pretty much the same thing
- Less self reliant
Not sure what you mean here?
- Don't miss out on DLCs and updates for games like COD as much as PC..
Ok, this is just my own opinion, but the DLC in CoD are absolutely shit. It splits up the already dwindling CoD community into more segments that can't play together, as some games you can't turn off DLC
Other than CoD, we don't really miss out on much. I mean GTA V is a bit late, but they have pretty much remade the game and added enough features that they could have made several expansion packs instead of including them
Sorry if this seems a bit ranty, but it's been a long day, so just to clarify: none of this is any kind of attack against you, I'm just too tired to formulate it in a better way.
PC:
- you can play Skyrim, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and similar games using mouse and keyboard
- requires a bit of knowledge about computers, memory, graphic cards, etc.
- might give you the curiosity to learn more about how it works. Example: as a child I used to play Amiga games, later I decided to study computer science and finally I became a computer programmer
Console:
- you don't need to know anything about computers
- you can just sit on your sofa and start playing
- can take advantage of you huge TV
- separates the tool you use for working and studying (PC) from the tool for entertainment (console)
Personally I prefer the PC
Epic.
The last console point is huge. I use pc for very little gaming and mainly use it for Audio Production, the problem is is when I had steam installed and played games mostly on pc I found myself slacking on work bc the games were always on the desktop, so was Reaper, but the bois might be on whatever new CoD
Kids building PC:
BUY overpowered CPU i7.
BUY overpriced Motherboard (400$)
BUY SSD for OS faster boot.
BUY ugly & huge case.
* BUY very cheap PSU
* BUY Very cheap GPU..
----------------------------------------------
After build is done go to pc forum and ask this qustion:
Why I get only 10 fps when I play tetris?
+ONETWO
A few critiques.
+Christoffer Nørskov I'm too old for your fairy tales..
I'm a kid and did a build and followed none of that... Big case though for a water cooler and an i7 so I can make it last
+Christoffer Nørskov 900d user eh? I have to say, that is probably my 3rd favourite case (after the caselabs sma8 and the cooler master cosmos 2). Very good for liquid cooling.
+Luunmurskaajien Ammattiyhdistys but the i7 hyper threading is being utilised more in games nowadays
Dude, HDMI cable. Boom, your desk PC is now on your TV, and your desk monitor. You don't need a separate PC to do this.
Also, steam link
Got one for the bedroom! Works just fine!
You can buy a chromecast and use the steam link app, I've tried it and it works incredibly good
Wait a sec...
I have 3 PCs, my rig, the 'alt low end rig' where friends play and I test stuff, and the HTPC.
i do it and use a wireless controller
I have 3 monitors, among which is a HD TV on which I watch films and play games with my controller when im too tired to sit behind the desk. Most of the pro console claims are non issues with no actual fact behind it
I ACTUALLY DO AND IM SUPER BUTT-HURT ABOUT YOU SAYING THAT IM PROBABLY GUNNA MAKE A WITTY COMMENT THEN UNSUB CUS THATS HOW SERIOUS I AM ABOUT THIS
brickman409 But none of us are butt-hurt. I asked a question and got legitimate answers out of it.
So we can throw that quote out the window.
... People are only pretending to have fun on consoles and play on them out of spite and pure envy toward the GLORIOUS PC MASTER RACE.
