Then, since everything going fine is boring, stacking Titans and scratched PSU paint is done for drama to make it more entertaining. Would they really spend 100kusd without a plan to succeed and to make the process of building cost effective?
Welcome to this channel buddy. Almost everyone knows that Linus is a huge hypocrite. I think it's due to his "privilege" with all this hardware. But he earned it and he is a good speaker so what do I know.
Big difference, he plays it close to the edge on camera for entertainment, people love it but when his employees treat equipment poorly off camera it has no financial benefit.
Those 4 Titans were also protected by cardboard, and no harm actually came to them. The complaint about the power supply was due to ACTUAL physical damage to the hardware. Additionally, as other stated, there is a difference for hamming it up on camera (and in turn often - though admittedly not always - actually mentioning or referencing what NOT to do) or actually mistreating the hardware. Finally, as other have also pointed out, Linus owns the company; if he causes losses, it directly affects him. Others still get their wage/salary. It's like treating a borrowed item more carefully than you would treat something that was your own in a sense.
I watch Linus techtips 50% for the computer stuff en 50% just for Linus. I realy respect the fact that Linus still stars in every video. Even when his company got way bigger. He could have easily replaced his role as host but he didn't. Keep up the good work!
The people complaining "Why build this at all?" just don't get Linus. He builds stuff for the challenge not the practicality, for views as well. How many people would be intrigued if it was "I'm going to build 6 practical workstations" I for one watched the whole thing with immense interest. Troubleshooting bizarre configurations is a lot of frustratingly good fun and there is nothing quite like the feeling of overcoming obstacles and achieving success.

When he looked at the janky electrical tape and freaked I was like really?!? Linus is having a fix over taping a jumper wire in? Cause i have a really seriously unimaginably hard time believing that's that jankiest thing that's happened in that office never mind in the history of LTT.
He was probavly using the power supply to mine crypto at home. The wire is like to jump the PSU to turn on. I'd check the records to see if he has some GPU checked out also. He is likely using company property for personal gains ;)
Every time linus touched anything on that ghetto rig, I held my breath thinking "oh my god that's gonna fallx20" This video is not for the faint of heart.
Yeah, i was wondering wtf he was thinking putting that board directly on an aluminum chassis without any standoffs. Though maybe it's only wired on top of the board. I didn't see a short, anyway, but still sketchy as fuck
Linus getting mad at Jake for scratching up the power supply as there is literally a tower of four Titans sitting on the edge of the desk in the background was one of the funniest things in this video. "Business as usual." :) :)
Liquidating because of mismanagement and a poorly marketed, high-priced, niche product line. They've been in trouble for years before Trump, an extra few dollars in materials costs in a multi-hundred or thousand dollar case is not going to break a well managed company.
lol I have a 4930k too but I wanted to build a micro atx cube pc so now I have the Rampage Gene V which severely limits my PCIe lanes...and I bought this bad boy so I could run quad SLI. ahhh youthful ignorance.
That "beep" at 9:17 was super convincing. With a PC of that size, you should probably get a system beeper that sounds like the 3000W power that this machine takes in.
I think with the newer linux kernels it doesn't really matter if your devices are in the same IOMMU group? I thought I read that. Just update to the newest kernel :D
1:23 "...a company called One Stop Systems, who, if you're not in the enterprise space, you may not have heard of. If you ARE in the enterprise space....you still may not have hard of them." Gold.
I do wonder if unraid is the System to run on this configuration. As you are running actual server Hardware and are planning on passing through stuff (like boot drive, graphics card etc) to VMs directly and not share a lot of what is left (or do you ?), you might be better off running VMware ESXi on that machine. You will need to use Quadro cards though - as nvidia does not support passing through "consumer" cards into vm's and vmware is not willing to workaround that. (Funny how they call the Titan cards consumer cards ...). If you are choosing unraid for its storage capabilities, you could still create a VM for running unraid and pass the storage controllers it needs to that VM. I do not remember I ever saw that "hardware group" stuff using vmware .. I was always able to pass through individual devices.
I think you can passthrough nvidia consumer card just fine on ESXi you just need to pass hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = "FALSE" to VMs that you use. The other problem might be that ESXi might not support the motherboard that they are running in that box.
Flower Pot I see a trend, the bigger videos get, the less genuine they seem to become, because they invest money in writers, and edditors and all other areas. The tech channels are the worst, because they do exactly what you are saying. When they do a genuine unscripted video, it is things like this. I would say, Linus is the worst of these, and Bitwit and Jayz2cents are the best about it.
Marko Juric sure, but without viewers they don't continue, and the less people can relate the more they stop watching. TH-cam has done some studies on this in the past, showing that large channels can still fail when they stop being able to relate.
Jake is like father Christmas. He just needs more helpers. My wish this year is that Jake gets more power supply so that next year Linus doesn't get so hard on father christmas.
Gamer logic: No Man's Sky and Mass Effect Andromeda are rushed and launched unfinished, with plans to just patch it later. People are pissed. Star Citizen take its time and want to have pretty solid content and gameplay mechanics before even considering a beta release. People are pissed. NNo matter what you do, you can't please them all.

When he looked at the janky electrical tape and freaked I was like really?!? Linus is having a fix over taping a jumper wire in? Cause i have a really seriously unimaginably hard time believing that's that jankiest thing that's happened in that office never mind in the history of LTT.
And your excuse for the imac?
Jon Bruford they made bank off of every video they made in that sequence of events.
I'm sure that eased the pain
He was probavly using the power supply to mine crypto at home. The wire is like to jump the PSU to turn on. I'd check the records to see if he has some GPU checked out also. He is likely using company property for personal gains ;)
Linus, get a larger desk.
Nothing worse when someone doesn't respect your stuff, no matter how much it cost or how much you have.
Every time linus touched anything on that ghetto rig, I held my breath thinking "oh my god that's gonna fallx20"
This video is not for the faint of heart.
"We're just going to do four graphics card today"
Yet I have zero.
Vorxer *JUST* *jUsT?!*
4 Gtx titans is is bad for linus he needs the minimum for Linus is 32.
Fire him and bring back the Slavic boi
Squatting Slav?
Yes, fire Jake Paul. I don't what you were expecting there, Linus.
surprised jake was hired in the first place tbh...
I love linus’ editors 😂
I love how Linus criticizes his employees for treatment of equipment, than carries on making a balanced tower of expensive components. :P
well it's his hardware though
That's one of the privileges of being the Boss i think.
And their Powered and hooked up too. Bluesmoke is only a reason of time, if you ask me.
This PC must be vodka-cooled!!!1
Mr. Anonymous omg yes!!!!!1
Blyatiful reference, tovarich
And run Stalker
Its not a motor bike lol
Mr. Anonymous I 100 percent agree
11:00 wasnt that the one they threw off the roof of their house years ago?
Fuzzy Lobster link please
Nah that was a AX1500i th-cam.com/video/YqifmrSuYgQ/w-d-xo.htmlm17s
Well, this one is too :O
tobsam nope, this one is a AX1600i
The PSU they are using now is a 1500i, you can see clearly on the desk at 12:47
But can it run -Minecraft- *-Crysis-* _Minesweeper?_
My pc blew up while I was running Minecraft rtx
No
9:21 meme review
It's dead now
When Linus tells you not to put a mother bord on the static bag and then does it with the pci expansion board
Yeah, i was wondering wtf he was thinking putting that board directly on an aluminum chassis without any standoffs. Though maybe it's only wired on top of the board. I didn't see a short, anyway, but still sketchy as fuck
#FireJake (I kinda wanna see the riot)
is that jake paul
nah we all agree lol
Linus getting mad at Jake for scratching up the power supply as there is literally a tower of four Titans sitting on the edge of the desk in the background was one of the funniest things in this video. "Business as usual." :) :)
But can it run minecraft with shaders ?
Even my 350 euro pc can do that
ITS A JOKE CALM DOWN
Haha Kid alert Lul

This has taken so long that Caselabs have gone out of business since it was started. XD
Would still be in business if it weren't for that meddling trade war instigator.
NuncNuncNuncNunc oh noooooo, not my overpriced computer case garbage
FUCK TRUMP
@@ehfoiwehfowjedioheoih4829 how is it garbage? Also yes fuck that guy if it prefends products and therefore the market.
Sad to see that amazing caselabs case and know it's probably one of the last ones ever made.
Why may it be one of the last ones ever madE?
caselabs is liquidating
Thanks trump
Liquidating because of mismanagement and a poorly marketed, high-priced, niche product line. They've been in trouble for years before Trump, an extra few dollars in materials costs in a multi-hundred or thousand dollar case is not going to break a well managed company.
7:28 "we're just gonna do 4 graphic cards for today
Linus: "You probably don't have that many PCIe lanes."
Me: *looks at my i7 4930k* "I count 40 here, and this bad boy is from 2013."
lol I have a 4930k too but I wanted to build a micro atx cube pc so now I have the Rampage Gene V which severely limits my PCIe lanes...and I bought this bad boy so I could run quad SLI. ahhh youthful ignorance.
Jtretta boi u lucky I just have a pentium from last year
I3 2100 here rip
My pc is stubid i 7 2100
6g of ram
Its okay until now isnt it?
Well the stubid graphic card is nvidia 310gt
500mb
I have a i5 5400k 8gb of ram with GTX 970
FLAME him. Not Fire!!!
that whiny effeminate bitch is flaming enough... the effeminate demasculation of males is now complete
This....this is madness
This is linus techtips
Instead of kicking someone into a well, Linus drops an RTX 1180 Ti. There.
That "beep" at 9:17 was super convincing. With a PC of that size, you should probably get a system beeper that sounds like the 3000W power that this machine takes in.
This madness of hardware stacked loosely on top of each other makes me feel so extremely uncomfortable :D
I think with the newer linux kernels it doesn't really matter if your devices are in the same IOMMU group? I thought I read that. Just update to the newest kernel :D
just buy Nasa's computer for god sake
Trygaming that's more like 100 million
Pretty sure they are. Have you seen those graphics on the space games they're playing?
It would take like 80 trucks to bring that computer (not pc) from NASA to canada
Sursurk
NASA prefers Beowulf clusters.
I always wanted to play Moon Tycoon on a NASA computer.
Or even KVM or ZEN.
unraid is base on kvm
And xen can't do GPU passthrough very well (especially NVIDIA)
Well then, the more you know...
Most of the content these days seems to be about the tech used to create these videos about tech. Anyone else see an endless loop here?
Flower Pot I see a trend, the bigger videos get, the less genuine they seem to become, because they invest money in writers, and edditors and all other areas. The tech channels are the worst, because they do exactly what you are saying. When they do a genuine unscripted video, it is things like this. I would say, Linus is the worst of these, and Bitwit and Jayz2cents are the best about it.
Yeah but servers and networking things are cool so I don't mind
The 3D Printing Corner they are rich af and buy exoensive pc's that no one can afford
It's a "tech" channel, not a " only tech that you can afford" channel.
12:47 PLUG and play, not just play
Still can't run Star Citizen with it! 😂😜
SOON tm
You can't run something that doesn't exist *_street logic_*
HL3 still didn't work too...
Still can't run Minecraft...
7:29 linus : we are just going to do 4 graphics cards today
me : oooo my goood 4 f#*king graphics cards $$$$$
I have GTX 1060 6GB but my good system fried, (Mobo+CPU) so no i am siting on AM3+ with FX-6300, damn i miss my old i5-4690K
I say wait for the next ryzen apu to come out if your still going low budget, if not I reserve judgement till i know the use case.
Edit: and budget

Is there any real benefit for having 6 people on one massive computer rather than 6 $16,000 PCs, or is it just to show that it can be done?
HydroFall - Gaming just to show it can be done lol
HydroFall - Gaming what do you think
Just wondering, sorry I've never built a $100k pc before =)
HydroFall - Gaming pff, you've never built a $100,000 pc before, what are you, a pleb?
I guess it is space efficient lol
Mom:I would buy a car with 100k
Linus: Nah pcs are better than cars
