  • In this video Spike shows you how to FROST (not flock) your Christmas tree. Frost is a more subtle look than flocking, and is far less messy. It's an easy project for your artificial tree, but could also be done on a real tree as well if you wished. This also can work for wreaths, greener garlands, etc.
Yes, the holidays are over now, but this is something you could do with your tree now for next year, storing it after it's completely dry, or refer back here before you decorate your tree next year!
For this you need your tree, flat white enamel spray paint, in a well ventilated space.

OMG! This was the perfect video for me. Not only did he show me how to lightly put on the falling snow but he used the same color green ornaments that I am using. Beautiful tree!

I like this idea much better than the diy flocking as I do not want it shedding everywhere. Thank you so very much for sharing.

Just paid £90 for a new unflocked tree, and this is the first video (and I’ve watched many) that is making me think I should take the risk and spray paint my new tree. We can’t get the Popcorn patch spray here in the UK, but I like the simpler, ‘frosted’ look you call it! I guess it’s best to stop start stop start with the spray rather than hold down and go crazy with the can…

Thank you for this video. I needed something for a 2 foot tree, that I could never figure out why I couldn`t right. My experience went a BIT different. To start out, I inquired my little tree from the former tree I had. My old tree fell apart as I was TRYING and working for a longer than normal time putting it together; and as I was tossing the tree outside because I was so mad, I thought as it was flying through the air,"I want to use the top of it as a mini tree". So I went a fetched the top of it (and grabbing the stand as well, figuring out how to tie them together to set the little tree in) and set it up with the rest of my decorations and in between everything, I ordered a new tree. I messed with that little tree the whole XMAS season, not happy with what to do with it,angering my family, because I wouldn`t leave it alone. It`s so dark and it sat in a dark place anyway. It has lights on it, but they only come on at night, I want to enjoy it during the day too. I was about to toss it out too. So just recently, I came across your video, and went out and got white paint. My son recommended a paint adhesive, it goes on clear then it and will hold the paint on to plastics better. I washed the dust off of it first and let dry inside the house then put the adhesive on and let dry. I clumsily took the lid off of the spray paint can and broke the nozzle. I was able to hold it together enough to spray a little bit, but not enough, so I sprayed the rest of the paint into a glass jar and I had to paint the tree with a brush, adding more snow at the edged of the tree and highlighting certain places and it looks wonderful if I can say, but I can only pat you on the back, for it was your idea. I can`t wait to put it up this year and see how much better it`s going to be. Thank you so very much.

Thank you this is a great video I always see the ones for flocking which is beautiful but it's such a mess I really prefer not but I love the way the white goes with the green this is easy and simple definitely going to try it. You explain it in a way that's easy to follow.

Great job. I've already been playing around with ideas like this and then I came across your video. I'm going to be trying this on greens to start with. I like the idea of using glitter spray paint to give it some sparkle.
Thanks for the video and Happy Thanksgiving (which is tomorrow )

This is so amazing!!! Does anybody if he used pre-lit tree or were the string lights added? If a prelit tree was used, do we need to somewhat protect the lights while spraying? Thanks in advance!!
