5:25 - SWROTJ probably a bad example of Hollywood's "gibberish launguages"; Ben Burtt designed all the languages in SW and it was among the most advanced representations of fictional alien languages in sci fi cinema history when it came out
the map guy is the map guy cos he gets lost easily so he needs maps, so its not dumb he gets lost. and the animal guy reaches out to the alien cos he likes animals thats why hes the animal guy so its not dumb he reaches out to a dangerous animal. still mostly bad
They trusted the audience to feel the antiquity and the authenticity of the language and it's usage so much so in the retelling of the plot making fun of the movie that went viral on the russian part of internet David just confidently says just a bunch of random words to the annoyed and irritated engineer and it kinda fits :D
The thing is this film like all films is based on perception. We start by understanding the perceptions of the humans.... we are never given the perception of the engineers, thus Nything concluded about them in this film by humans or a.i. is suspect. You have to remember David is controlling the narrative the humans receive and then make decisions off of. This film is about looking past humans perceptions.. the issue is no one understood this and thus the film narrative which was designed to be untruthful is seen as bad film making when they are basing these assumptions on human perceptions and not the perception the film truly offers
❤ the channel. Y is this proto language pronunciation so difficult. And it's hypothetical, not historical, no written examples of it. Seems like there's a mystery there, idk. Something about the way it sounds just seems odd to me.
From 'recap' part it becomes clear that author finds characters, except David, unlikable, thus film is bad, for he should sympathise rather with aliens than humans. Well, what author didn't understand, is that it's intentional, justy like it's intentional that characters of "Alien: Covenant" are terribly unlikable, except David. That's the whole point of the films. Some people just can't understand films
I enjoyed your commentary on "Buster Scruggs", sir, but here you are trying to put lipstick on a pig --- "Prometheus" is a roundhouse stinker with or w/o "linguistic" apologies.
Awesome content!!
Glad the big PIE in the thumbnail didn't disappoint, that's beautifully done.
lol thanks!
David was on a space ship. He was learning a different language. He's Rimmer learning Esperanto on Red Dwarf.
I loved it, despite the fact that it’s pretty silly - but that’s true of every movie in the Alien series.
Lol when you said "pie chart" I was so close to saying " that isnt a pie chart" but then it hit me in the face " that is a PIE chart..."
You lured me in with the Pie but I stayed for the PIE
linguistic is extremely interesting, thnks for the vids.
Good stuff
Great video. Good job.

If the engineers created Indo-Europeans, then who created Chinese?
Created all humans , seemed to visit the indo-Europeans in an effort to influence their creation.
Someone smarter.
"But in terms of plot it's still better than Prometheus" oh snap lmao
True tho

That's hilarious...I was unaware of that!

I thought it was a great movie, not sure why the hate.
Same here man, same here

@@zoran5076unlikeable doesn't mean interesting
Great visuals, but very disappointing plot with some sizable plot holes.
