Sorry for rambling at times! I think this song in particular REALLY hit me hard. I know I tend to overanalyze but for some reason this song really just hit me so hard. I spiraled a bit and started thinking too much about life and existence! Thank you so much for watching with me! I'm so excited to hear more from TOOL. This band already has such a special place in my heart ❤

Loved it, we all got emotional with you, even if we heard it many times before! It’s all good. 😊 Invincible should definitely be on your list at some point. That one hit hard for me personally about getting older, similar to where the band is at in their long career. Right in Two is a good one too, you can’t go wrong, spiral out!

Tool is by far the most oddly emotional music I've ever heard. It's not that's it's sad, it's very introspective lyrically thus the listener can be put into a vulnerable state.
A girl I dated years ago was really having a tough time dealing with the loss of her mother. I was 22 and she was 19. It had been about 9 months since she had died but she just couldn't allow herself to grieve. She was on a loop basically.
Well, I had some mushrooms but I didn't want to give her any because I was worried about her not being able to hande them. I eventually caved because I a man and pretty girls are sneaky and stuff...
Anyhow, Tool had just released 10,000 days. I put that on and it was incredible. We were in awe.
The title track off that album is a two part song Maynard wrote for his mother. I don't know if I can accurately explain this but I watched her, my girl, actually deal with everything she had kept bottled up. We didn't talk at the time, that's kinda difficult on heavy doses of hallucinogens, but she could not contain her emotions.
She was better after that. She was able to visit her grave and process the death as one has too to keep moving forward through life. It was like a cheat code for the grieving process.
Sorry for the length, I just wanted you to know that's perfectly ok to feel how you felt. I have no idea what your life is like but I appreciate your candor and willingness to just be yourself. Keep doing that.
      ✌️ & 💕

I had a lot of trauma as a child, by the time I was in highschool my life could have been over, this album went a long way in helping me cope with the world. I listened to it daily. There are so many things to get out of this album about life, love and spirit. Emotional and physical connections... The grudge opens you up to your conflicts, the patient brings you to a place of self acceptance, schism tackles your problems communicating, Ticks and leaches addresses your adverse relationships, lateralus walks you through life from birth to death. That's the turning point in the album. After that you've dealt with your emotional and physical side, now the spiritual journey begins. From lateralus through disposition, reflection and triad you relax and feel your spiritual self. It's a different feeling from the first half of the record. By the time you get to Faaip de Oiad, you should be in a better place than when you started the album. Lol Of course then there's the outro about alien abduction to shock you out of it. Have fun with it.

Tool has also their emotional side, except a philosophical one. And when they go emotional, it is 'to the core' and very personal, of course. I recommend listening "Wings for Marie (Pt 1)" together with "10,000 Days (Wings Pt 2)". These songs are about Maynard's mother who had a stroke and went paralyzed for 27 years or about 10000 days. Warning, some tears can pour out while listening...

I'm sure someone has already said it, but this song is based around the Fibonacci Sequence. The syllables in the first and second verse go
    1,2,3,5,8,5,3.
The time signatures also follow the pattern and it is what they are referring to with spiraling out. Tool are actual geniuses.

      5 - in my in-fan-cy
8 - red and yell-ow then came to be
      5 - reach-ing out to me
      3 - lets me see
Each line added together makes up the next line in the sequence. The sequence creates perfect spirals. Roughly what the Fibonacci sequence was discovered to create. The next line in the song also feeds into the sequence after 8
      13 - As a-bove so be-low and be-yond I i-ma-gine
It's really an incredible piece of writing.

First of all, welcome to TOOL!!! These reactions have been something special and it's really warmed my heart to see them. I can tell from these first three videos, you get it 100%. The subjective interpretation, the way you let it move through you and affect your mind, heart, and soul. Bravo! It takes some people years to get that. I am truly happy you have found your way here. Also, you picked three good ones to start with. Pneuma, Forty Six and 2, and Lateralus are some of the best. FYI: Look into Carl Jung and his work on the shadow for a little more insight into Forty Six & 2. As far as suggestions for future, Pushit is very sad but absolutely beautiful. Right in Two has genius lyrics. Descending is wonderfully melodic but carries a sense of urgency and warning. There's many others as well, of course. I truly hope you continue to enjoy this never-ending journey.

This song is something of a "spiritual battery" for me. When I'm feeling bogged down by things in life, when I feel particularly lost and on the cusp of a breakdown, this song in a way or another always finds me and somehow attempt to center me, makes me breathe by leaving me breathless, it opens up all the pores of my being making me more receptive to the world and letting me realize how blind I was getting, that my potential is still in me, that I can channel creativity once again. You perfectly get it, it's like you get reborn. I cried during this video, and it's a song that I've listened truly countless times, so much so that I at one point thought ok, maybe Lateralus is no more my favorite song ever, but when a piece does this to you I guess it even stops to be comparable to any other song. Thank you for the reaction, I just discovered you and it's immediately apparent to me that you're a genuine person with a beautiful sensibility. Keep it up, subscribed.

Grant you I'm not fanatical about Tool. That having been said I've never heard a Tool song that didn't engage me in some good way. I like the traditional, almost tribal feel of this especially the drums. The flip side of that feel is the vocals seem a bit subdued compared some of their other songs. The thing I like about Tool best is the complexity engages you even if you don't understand the musical theory behind it. Great reaction

46&2 Is viscerally amazing but Laturalus is a masterpiece. My two favorite Tool songs although really it's a Flux state of preference. Another deep and masterful song is Schism. But really you can't go wrong with any of them. Good shit. Lots of people like Tool and lots of people react because it gets the views. But I feel like you get it. You're not just paying lip service to the algorithm. Much love.

the quality of their music never stops to amaze me, it's funny, but they set the bar so high, that i consider their newest album one of the worst (i think only their first EP i consider worse, never was a huge fan of it, and it didn't have their real sound yet), though if it was recorded by any other band i'd think of it almost as a masterpiece, because it's a solid album, but it pales in comparison to the rest of their discography (my personal favourites 10,000 days and ofc lateralus)

The vocals start at 1:37 sec which is 1.618 minutes
1.618 is the ratio between the fibonacci numbers, also called golden ratio
each vers of the song is 55 seconds, 55 is a fibonacci number
    Time change in the corus, 9/8 - 8/8 - 7/8, 987 is a fibonacci number
    The lyrics and the sequence:
    (1) black
    (1) then
    (2) white are
    (3) all I see
    (5) in my infancy
    (8) red and yellow then came to be
    (5) reaching out to me
    (3) lets me see
    (2) there is
    (1) so
    (1) much
    (2) more and
    (3) beckons me
    (5) to look through to these
    (8) infinite possibilities
    (13) as below so above and beyond I imagine
    (8) drawn outside the lines of reason
    (5) push the envelope
    (3) watch it bend
People are still amazed by this song after 20 years...

Tool covered a song called "Demon Cleaner" by Kyuss. The two bands can complement each other, and I often find myself listening to one after the other. Tool and APC stir the soul, then Kyuss songs like Catamaran, Writhe & 800, and Space Cadet soothe and calm me again. The fan videos of nature and space vistas also aid in this.

Tool has always been one of my favorite bands, but it wasn't until recently I really learned what the lyrics were about. with me being spiritual, it makes a lot of sense now why I connected with Tool's music.
I also can relate to the existential crisis, I've been struggling with it for several months now, and even gets me a little depressed at times. I would suggest Schism or Parabola next 😊
