What Car Reviewers won't tell you about Volkswagen Polo?

  • I have noticed that famous car bloggers and TH-cam reviewers only talk about features and engine but no one talks about precise differences about the cars of the same segment. VW Polo is light years ahead product from German giant Volkswagen and I believe, reviewers won't tell you these points:
Volkswagen is a parent brand of Skoda, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, SEAT, Bugatti, Porsche and Ducati
Volkswagen is globally number is sales as they sell around 1 crore cars globally every year.
Volkswagen Polo has scored 4 stars out of 5 in GNCAP safety ratings with bodyshell called as stable. Other cars like Swift, Baleno and i20 Elite have only 2 or 3 stars and body is stated as unstable.
Volkswagen doesn't do any cost cutting in plastic parts, interiors or in overall build of the cars.
Volkswagen Polo has full wheel cladding. No other car provides full wheel cladding in this segment.
Volkswagen Polo has the heaviest metal sheet and 100% Galvanized steel is used for better durability of the car. It's doors are very heavy and it ooze quality. Other cars feel flimsy and poorly build as compared to Polo
Only Volkswagen Polo comes with Airbags and ABS as standard across all variants.
It has a lazer welded roof which makes as a unibody design and provides more sturdiness.
Volkswagen Polo comes with 4 years of standard warranty and 7 years of extended warranty
Volkswagen Polo's gearbox is very durable and highly engineered. It doesn't shake even 1 bit on high speeds even after 6 years
Volkswagen Polo doesn't have any rattling or internal noise of loose screws even after 6 years. It feels tightly screwed, no noise in the cabin even after 6 years. Feels and run like brand new.
Volkswagen Polo doens't have any exposed wires under the dasboard, everything is perfectly covered and nothing looks ugly or exposed or you will never feel that cost cutting is done somewhere.
Volkswagen Polo has the best paint quality in the segment and their cars look brand new even after 6 years. They provide 4 years of warranty for their paint too. Other cars start having small dots and waviness in the body. Their paint starts fading and panel gaps starts becoming wider. Not is the case with Volkswagen Polo.

I have a 2 year old Octavia and an 8 year Polo and I only bought these cars because of the promise of superior German engineering. Both cars are solid as a tank and the fit and finish is second to none. And they’re rock steady at high speeds. The handling is unmatched and no Hyundai or Maruti comes close. VW group cars are absolutely flawless.

It was really nice meeting you dost at Volkswagen Ludhiana while we were there to take delivery of our silver polo. Your informative videos inspired me to choose polo over other options I had in this segment and one segment above !! It's sad that these days car companies are selling touchscreens more than their quality of engines and durability and people fall for them. Well I'm looking forward to make some beautiful memories with driving experience with new addition of polo to our family. Will surely see you some day in person brother. It was really nice meeting you. Cheers!!

If there is space issue in polo then we should think person paying 16-19 lakh for thar and still having space issue
So space is secondary and these days we are having nuclear families

I use the Volkswagen Vento Highline and very much satisfied with it. I just love its laser welding technology...a fan of Volkswagen. And Volkswagen is an Engineering marvel. Also, I'm an Automobile engineering student and I was not fooled by Hyundai's Features that it offers. So I was treated as VIP at car showrooms when those people came to know that I'm an automotive student and they can't just make me understand anything easily.. And one thing I noticed was that Volkswagen never compromised in safety and Volkswagen always talks about safety first and other brands first talk about mileage and features. This encouraged me to buy Volkswagen...
    voila!!
you just got a new subscriber...because I like people who talk about safety first rather than features & design. Also, Volkswagen and other German companies offer some of the best driving comforts for long journeys..for passengers to my parents and I are always safe in this type of cars.

The Germans are very good at designing the crumple zones , using higher guage metal. Some newer technologies found in high end cars from the volkswagen group can leave us spell bound. But sadly they are less known for reliability world wide. Moreover in India the after sales service has taken a toll , which is why the customers shy away from buying one.
My father has a skoda rapid, it feels solid and is very much fun to drive in comparison to my hyundai verna. But the sad part is he has had his share of headache with the car. But he restrains from selling it mainly because the used car value quoted was very low....It still looks new and drives like one too.....

Every car has CON's and Pros
Now let's talk about Cons only
Maruti suzuki - safety and build quality
Hyundai - they use cheap quality in engine parts like connecting rods, crank , pistons etc. (If you put extra pressure they can break down)
TATA:- cars are good Tata and fiat makes engine together (fiat makes every thing with Tata ) ... For interior Tata takes some help of there Land rover and jaguar.. there cars also have tank like built same as VW but there biggest con is there sevice cemtre and dealer's
Volkswagen:- everything is fine until service and maintenance comes in the main thing i found is VW make labour charge seprate for everything in service like engine oil change , air filter change .. etc everything gets seperate labour charge the labour charge is more than the total service costs like 6k for labour and 4k for service .. if you know how to do basic car service like oil changing , ac filter cleaning , air and fuel filter change you can get VW's and they can become cheap at service ...
I am an automotive student and have well researched on middle segment cars ...

I agree to disagree in this regard. Gone are those days when Volkswagen's service cost is too much. They are at par with ( infact cheap, when compared in terms of quality of parts) other manufacturers when it comes to service at least in INDIA ✔️.

My vento is going to complete 7 years and my polo would be completing 5 years. The best decision I have made in my life , no problem at all with the mechanics also. The engine and gearbox and handling is the best. I could use both for another 5 years without any issue. My friend completed 180000 km in his vento within 5 years. This guy is 100 percent right . I stone and without sleep I drive my cars. My brothers octavia vrs we were able to touch 274 km/h.

I also own a Polo(D) Trendline for last 9 years, has been very good experience till now. When I first purchased this vehicle in 2012, I could see very few VW cars. with regards Paint Job- Top notch- No Comparison- have a minor dent in Driver door for last 6 years and metal is exposed but till date no rusting in that part. My front bumper had few minor bumps with two wheelers but paint as well as plastic in bumper never gave any issue. Regular yearly service till date has been only for oil change and routine maintainance. Front break pads were chaged at aroung 70000 Kms. Had ECU problem in 3rd year - Company changed that for free- due to good service records. Minute details are given attentation and you can feel that when you own a vehicle for such a long time. Have taken My car around three times ( in Two or Three Days)for more that 1700km at one go From Jamanagar to Allahabad(via- Delhi), Return Via Bhopal- never had any issue during long drives. Have also driven My vehicle at least two times to Rajkot- Bhopal, Multiple times to Rajkot-Ahmedabad. Overall Build quality is Very Nice.

You are right. I own a Vento DSG and test drove a Honda City highline and i felt like the plastic quality was low in the interior and engine noise was high. And the leather looks like plastic on the steering. No ESP , No traction control like in Vento. So no safety if your wheels slip in rain on honda city which costs like 15 lacks. I will buy a Vento Again if i have to choose between Vento or Honda or Swift . Some people don't understand these until they really drive and own a VW or skoda car. I am happy that i made a good decision in buying a VW car even though they made some mistakes with emissions. They fixed it by reducing engine emissions with a software update

@@simranjitsingh9800 They misguide viewers. i20 Elite & Polo almost have same maintenance cost. Your diesel service will cost Rs 8000-9000 after 15000kms interval. VW will push you for annual service but better you get it serviced after 12000 kms and not annually. However, you can save a good amount if you don't ask for AC disinfection & Wheel balancing/alignment during service. Get it done from outside as it will cost half. Also, there are many products available on Amazon for AC disinfection in the cars.
Regarding spare parts, your car won't trouble you till 1.20 lacs kilometers and after that even if you need to spend for shockers/gearbox repair that will happen in any other car too. VW doesn't give up early. For example my Bro Amitoj Singh has got his timing belt replaced 3 times for his Elite i20 in just 2 years wheras for my Polo Petrol:
      - Never changed timing belt even after 81000 KMs
      - Got brake pads changed after 75000 KMs
      - Gearbox, Clutch plates & Engine is in perfect shape, no repairs till date
      - Got fuel lid & parcel tray replaced for Rs 2500 each
Also, check with VW, now they come with 4 years standard warranty and 2 years extented warranty, so you can have peace of mind for 6 years. Do check all these things before buying any car.

Dear Suderdeep, real nice video indeed. I am another fan of Volkswagen brand. We are a group of friends who all have three Vento TSI model cars between us. I have had an Innova and a Palio Sports- both top models. after I sold both the cars, I booked a Tata Hexa, Honda BRV, Maruti Ertiga 2019, Tata Nexon and almost bought an Innova G Petrol. You can see the level of confusion I was living regards buying a car. One fine evening, I happened to have another of my endless discussions with a friend who is a car enthusiast, and he implored upon me to have a look at Volkswagen. To cut the long story short, I am now a very pleased and satisfied owner of Vento TSI highline plus. As you know, it shares the same engine as that of a Polo TSI, with the same 1200cc unit. I can vouch for each and every statement you have made about the car.
As we were coming from the showroom after fetching the car, a bullet banged into the rear. Later, when I inspected the car for any damages, I could find none! and mind it the Bullet is itself a 200 kg motorcycle, and with the two guys astride, it must have been anything like a 350 kg mass hitting in a concentrated 3 square inch into my car's rear bumper! Had it been my Alto, I would have brought home a dented rear, if not a cracked one!
And yes....why did I not go for the other cars? I was more inclined towards the Ertiga. But one fine day, my son revved the Alto and it hit the gate and a Honda Jazz just about after a foot of travel. and the front bumper open like a flower. Then and there, the issue of family safety cropped up in my mind. Nexon fitted that bill, but I thought why to buy a car that will give me only 350ltr boot when I can settle for a sedan with 500ltr boot! There were scores of other such things that made my mind for the Vento. Nexon is also a good car, but it cannot be compared to the finesse of a Volkswagen. And I didn't want to go for another hatchback painted as SUV(no hard feelings!)

However, I trust VW After Sales more than Skoda though both are same. You need to check reputation of your Skoda Admin in your city. For example in Ludhiana, Lally-Motors VW are a big group and have good reputation. So, I went with a Polo. Please be very careful while spending your money.
