Genuine however coz of affordability - we do get discount…1-2 lacs. Then i got autoloan at 8.5% and my investment returns are 14-15% beyond salaries increased across IT esp. in pandemic!

My hyundai car boight for 8.3 lac, paid 4 lac in petrol till now 70-80 k in maintenace and replacement cost. Toll another 40k. Insurance 1.2.lac...no.accidents claim or damage till now...eod car may sell for 3 lac....too much value lost...

Forget about express ways, even on normal 4 lane highway with pot holes we are paying almost 2 Rs per km toll tax. People are not realizing it because it gets deducted from account (Fastag). It's unfair

40 lakh ki fortuner me 23 goes to govt in Tax, 17 lakh goes to Toyota.... already 30% income tax paid on that 40 lakh, then tax on petrol /diesel,tax on insurance, tax on service, toll tax or pata nahi kon konse tax

Today, I went to South City Mall in Kolkata, where a car show was taking place featuring brands like Nissan, Toyota, Kia, Citroën, Mahindra, and Skoda showcasing their latest models. You won’t believe there was a crowd of thousands of people, and there were queues for booking cars at every counter, more than in any other showroom in that huge mall.
The economy is simple: when there is demand, prices go up, and the government keeps an eye on all the trending things to take their share. Prices for almost all products in various businesses have doubled after COVID, and people have started earning significantly more since then. As a result, they are willing to step into luxury by owning big brands, which is why you see so many new SUVs on the road.

One of the prime reason for more tax to be levied is freebies politics. We are milking Cow for government which just brings any new kind of taxes to hide their incapabilities 😞
All indirect taxes should be made 10-15% and remove taxes from essential items. Income tax should be removed.

Better to go for used vehicle. There is a pretty good market for these guys. You can scout for ones that are sparingly used in good condition. Now a days dealers offer substantial warranty on the vehicle as well

@movementbuilders8828 all renowned ones cars 24, mahindra first choice etc. Even the small pvt ones are also offering. Check with them. The car by itself less than 3 yrs old will have original warranty from the manufacturer

Used cars prices are as good as new cars less than 10 percent, so no to used cars, either buying a new car or not buying anything is best option instead of used cars😂

World over various TAXES are Applicable on all products. Maybe they are in different %.
But You also have to consider out of 145 Crores population only 10 Crores are paying Income Tax. Before 2014 there were less than 4% paying Income tax only.

Why we all Don insist on making our infrastructure and public transport system best in word class then no need to buy the overpriced cars. We are not giving a good future to the next generation. Things are getting worse every time. Year on year, our government officials enjoy life, and we pay for everything in terms of tax.
I was looking forward to hearing about tax cuts coming but you did not speak about that because that was the bait. We all have a lot of respect for you and it will be a pity if that is lost. We all know about taxes on buying and maintaining a car and on running a car. The government is squeezing the lemon dry. Actually, in a word, it is unfair.
Advice to those buying cars:
1. Buy the cheapest. You don't have to keep up with the Joneses particularly if they are morons.
2. Put buying off for 5 years and invest in a car buying recurring deposit. You will save on interest at the cost of the tax on RD maturity but I am sure you will be much better off saving and paying for your car and not filling the bank coffers.
3. Tell your local brown sahib that he will lose your vote if the gst council does not bring down the rates of gst to a uniform 8 percent and includes petrol and diesel in gst. If Singapore and Malaysia can, so can India or are we incompetent dopes?
I understand and appreciate your candid feedback.. point was to communicate and express about taxes so as to let buyers make informed decision. Title yes is cheesy and possibly looks like bait, but was something with a question mark that big tax cut needed on cars after so much of taxation n at same time let people know of ownership cost of car too. How much Tax on a Private Car ? Excise, Cess, Road Tax, over & above Toll fees, and now congestion fees ? Who is responsible for Congestion ? Is it the end user or Approver for Manufacturing ? Unless the Approver does not approve, Manufacturer cannot produce limitless vehicles and when vehicles are available, end users will be there. Ultimately the Game is for Money
