    Consider you colony like a car the more gas you give it the faster it goes. the more food you feed your colony the faster it will grow. Depending on the Sp.

    This is one species I really enjoy but had to give up on as I couldn't for the life of me get a Queen to develop her eggs/lay eggs (tried with 3 different Queens)

      @Squidward558 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How often were you checking her? What kind of setup did you have? They may have been infertile or just stressed. I wouldn't give up, once you get workers the hobby becomes so incredibly addicting!

    I think this is ligniperda and not herculeanus, look at the front of the gaster. It has a red hue, herculeanus gaster is all black, while ligniperda has a shade of red on the part of the gaster closest to her thorax. 04:05 in the video, queen.

    A few thousand workers, maybe up to 5 thousand would be a nice sized colony, but still managable I think.

      I never get rid of that world I was going to give it to a different colony

    • @Archnemesis88
      @Archnemesis88 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobJsAnts My comment was more about keeping the outworld with this colony and just giving them a second. They are growing fast, and filled that new nest up fast. A new outworld would have to be significantly larger to replace this one and not need replacing anytime soon. Looking forward to see what you decide to do!

    why not just use multiple of the same one ?? give the ants multiple echospheres and have an experiment on which thay use the most

    • @RobJsAnts
      @RobJsAnts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have done this in the past. I find it’s more work. I prefer to give this outworld to some ants that can grow into it and get these in something bigger

    I love your videos Rob, but you know that worker ants are female right? I'm not normally one for correcting peoples use of gender pronouns, but you refer to worker ants as he/him in most of your videos, which disturbs me a little for some reason ;)

      Sure I do mate its just a bad habit my male snake gets called her too lol
