Please everyone.
Stay home and cook for yourselves. These restaurants do not deserve our business if they are continually nickel and diming us.
So restaurants aren't allowed to make a profit?
@@middleguy1776fr? they make their profit selling food and drinks, it is just being greedy and taking advantage of the current situation of our economy. If your theory made any sense why wouldn't they have been done many years ago. Restaurants haven't been making profits? Come on man, Think before u post something dumb. I know Iaa! But I'm right too..
I know some waters or weitres are making three to four hundred a night of tips and plus their hourly pay, absolutely unfair to the customers.
Honestly, we should go further. Be like Europe in that you have the full price of the item listed, all taxes and fees included. None of this "Oh the hotel room is $200... with $199 of fees"
End tipping culture!!!
Why? Too cheap to tip?
@@middleguy1776 no, the opposite! I tip like I'm rich😂😂💀 when I'm not.
@@rafaelunplugged as do I
Yes. Take that 💩 off. Service ISNT always 20% worthy. Make them work for it. As it was intended to do.......
Businesses that include service charges just want to hide the higher price tag to make more sales. lol
Or maybe pay their bills and break even
@@middleguy1776 Yes, but its a way to "deceive" customers because most don' know of it until the bill comes. If you want to make more, charge more, which filters the value metrics for everyone involved.
Service Charge, Employee Heath Tax, and Sales Tax make it not worth eating out.
Chinese restaurants automatically adding tip to the bill and then asking for a compounded tip should be illegal too!
Why should it be illegal?
@@middleguy1776 because it’s a scam little buddy.
@@JimmothySmantanseleton how is it a scam? And why only ban it at Chinese restaurants?
Why only Chinese restaurants? Why not Mexican restaurants or Soul restaurants?
@@foxtrotwolf6081 little cutie pie 🥰
In South Korea, two rolls of kimbobs are $5 eating in the restaurant. That $5 includes food, tip and tax.
By all means you can move there
@middleguy1776 you don't get the message here. The message is you can include those in one price without overpricing a manu. Selling a lot is key here. To do that, they have to lower the food price. Selling expensive meals one at a time is the best way to lose business.
Raise the price and we won’t go! I’ll eat at home.
My solution is that I simply don't eat at places like that and avoid locations like San Francisco that do that regularly. Stop trying to hide the cost of a meal out by charging this fee after the fact.
Lock down has made Home cooking much better. With higher prices why bother getting out .
Restaurants taxk on a service charge, and the expect you to pat tips. That's a scummy move
It's not a price increase if they put it into the price! In the end you spend the same amount of money.
So let me get this straight: if you buy a $20 dish and tip 20% and pay a 6% service fee or you buy a $26.40 dish because of a price increase, it's still $26.40. For the customer, where is the price increase? The owners said prices would increase 5-15% they clearly haven't done math because that would actually make it cheaper. The service charge is added on at the end; now it would just be included into the price so a 26% price increase would yield a $26.40 dish at $20 base price before just without all the added on lines on the receipt.
SF is a dump
I didn’t tip the other day because the cashier was very rude and it was to go order. I can’t donate my money to rude people. Besides she is paid by her employer.
Don’t you have to be warned about separate charges before you order? Kind of blindsiding people when you don’t know that they’re gonna add X% to your bill beforehand.
What's to stop Denny's from offering a $3 grand slam breakfast then adding a $20 service fee? I'm glad they finally implemented this law.
Charge me once, I won't return.
Then people will complain about bad service bc there's not enough employees....bc its not like the employees can afford to live in these neighborhoods with those high rents. so then the staff has to pay high cost of commuting and parking. The servers get jobs in other industries where they get health care, and then customers wonder "hey why are the restaurants closing in this area".... you can never make some people happy 🤷🏾♀️
Restaurant owners please just pay your workers a living wage stop making the rest of us suffer this inanity
Service charges are BS
And no one is forcing you to dine out. They forget that
I’ll order a 5.99 bread sticks and the “ service fee” is $5 I end up paying $15
Whoa, whoa... why tf are food delivery services like Doordash exempt from junk fees? They're the ones that really pillage your wallet! 😒
So let me get this straight. Restaurants will have to charge more because they cannot sneak in hidden fees. But if the fees are gone then the increase should cover that loss which means that price hasn't changed only your perception.
This is predominately the reason I always have second thoughts before dining in SF. 20% auto tip is on top of the SF mandate. That is at least 25% surcharge.
If you have a restaurant, it’s your job to pay employees and go thru losses and profits. That’s why it’s YOUR business.
It’s not the customer fault egg prices are high.
And Tipping should be an option.
When tip is included, the servers don’t care because they know it’s already on there.
I'm surprised the headline wasn't "Ban on Service Charge Will lead to Demish of Restauranteurs" . To be honest I don't give a hoot.
how about stopping the 3% good food tax that SF does.
So dowe still then or not? If you’re building th tip into the menu price, then I shouldn’t be tipping again. But how will anyone know if you’re adding tip in already? Honestly makes me not want to eat out
Over the weekend I grossly over paid at restaurants in Vegas. Gotta drive further out for better prices.
Why are people going out.
Waste of time in ca.
People need to stop being so LAZY. Stay home and prepare YOUR OWN FOODS.
What a stupid expectation it is to see a lower price and get a sticker shock later and be happy with that.
Odd tipping culture adds surcharge/ gratuity to bill. That's not even the meaning of gratuity when you force people to pay it.
Who eats at restaurants anymore?? If you're going to go out and eat overpriced food then expect to spend a lot of money stop complaining or eat at home!
With all the extra fees, they are avoiding paying taxes. Just say food is $50 then add fee1 $10 and fee2 $5. Total $65. They are only paying income taxes on $50. Then when they charge you one price $65 with no fees, they have to pay income taxes on $65. Customers pay $65 regardless. Fees are bs. Especially 3% fee is you use credit card.
Restaurants are just trying to take advantage of us. 😢
Restaurants need to stay competitive without tricking customers with bait and switch dining costs. I fully support I legislators who vote for this bill.
I just learned how to make shrimp fritters at home.
Just show us what we’re paying for jfc where else would it be okay to not be able to verify exactly what I’m paying for with just a little bit more specificity than “surcharge”
For those of you that don’t like it; remember you voted for this. How else can small businesses keep up without adding charges? And then don’t complain about all the places closing because you don’t patron them. There’ll be nothing left in SF to do because none of y’all wanna pay for it, tip or support these businesses. 😢
They charge for everything extra ice/ ketchup/ranch rip off !!!!
Have taxes and fees included on menu price is the most honest all inclusive price. businesses are scared to use that because sticker shock. Eventually we have to go back to the real price ideal.
if they raise the menu prices say 20% to cover the cost you as a customer will pay more in taxes. if they charge a service fee its non taxed. this is all about SF taxes .
Ding ding ding winner!!!
So much idiocy... subtracting 20% and adding 5-15% means higher prices? KPIX needs better "experts." Or do you add 20% to the prices and GIVE IT TO THE STAFF?!!!
The government always makes everything more expensive and less efficient.
Katie love you
~ I didn’t know that “ laughing Sal” was a restaurant Critic too ....
