well you are not wrong but in raiding you have to set a baseline for everyone what they personaly have to bring to the table In fun raids / pugs / normal raids the tank who knows his toon is the best but in mythic there is no room for such bs like "oh i have skills like this" and "wow thats how it works" - no you know your class and your role and if you want to be a "top end raider"

Given that the player knows how to use his abillities then the prot warrior will be the best tank. For handling the highest incomming damage. Thus the prot warrior will be mandatory for pushing mythic dungeons and high end raiding.
Epic Xss as of right now you'll be mostly right for the raiding part - but maybe not in the mythic dungeon part They said they limit the mythic+ dungeons to mythic+10 once you can run them in the beginning because otherwise you would outgear the first hc raid by far And up to mythic+10 its more a skillquestion of the player then possibilities of the spec you are playing

Ok but seriously what I like is that you try to promote each class and spec in their own ways one thing I see preach kinda not to do or hesitate a bit but that's just me and what I think. Tough call on whether it's a bear or monk you want to be healing, since you know when a monk is hit the damage is going to be flowing in for awhile yet, so hots will get full use, but it's easy to call dh and dk out as people you don't want stealing your sweet sweet numbers
Good lord I love your content. I'm a tank for my guild that does heroic raiding. I'm going DH, because I'm selfish and know this low point will eventually pass for the DH. I just pray a DH will be good in mythic + content.
if you are talking about mythic+ dungeons you may want to look into another tank. as he and many others said dh is way too soft. the selfhealing is amazing, but if you cant mitigate dmg you are getting killed before selfhealing actually takes place. that said, DH will become godlike in content you outgear. like lower dungeon+ level speedruns and so on. aswell for soloing old content like MoP raids and WoD dungeons/part of raids.
+R. Gletscher that's why I'm stating I think with the recent buffs that blizz is posting for DH will follow the same path monk tanks took when they were released. Right now it's a numbers game that can be altered in a hot fix. Mechanically they have potential. The developers have commented they are evaluating their survivability in content. New tank pains. Best for people to look at what mechanically is enjoyable instead of what's testing effectively before launch. Even preach said it's something that can change overnight in a hotfix
That's good to hear. I really really want to go dh in legion as my main but I've just read and seen to much to suggest that they are too weak right now. I'll pay attention to forums and patch notes up until Legion, hoping they get a buff to make them competitive in end game content, otherwise might just have to go back to heals.
You're free to choose what class you want, but why choose a DH? Almost every other tank spec can do what they do, better. Warriors and Brewmasters have better mobility, and Blood has better self-healing.

I love how you rank tanks based upon what they are great at instead of say...Prot warr > Paladin > Druid > Demon Hunter > DK > Monk, because reasons. Maybe you can go deeper in tanks to identify strengths and weaknesses of their classes, for example, which tanks have better aoe toolkits or more control over monsters/bosses or dealing with hard-hitting bosses better. I really liked how you explained in your Healer ranking what kind of healing each one was better suited and makes me wish I got it here with tanks too.
I've always played Protection Paladin, always loved it. I've done some raiding in the past but nothing serious. It's a nice thing to know I can barely do anything wrong now as a pally. :D

Class priority is bullshit when it comes to serious PvE content. People look up at your class as a last priority. They firstly check your gear, check YOU, whether you know the tacts, whether you are willing to etc. ...So never ever choose a tanking class based on this or other video, just choose what you enjoy. When you get better, people will beg you to join their raid if you have had put enough into your class. That's all. Tank since 2009 speaking world 3rd-2nd on most bosses...

I've been playing prot warrior for most of this expac and have recently swapped to a vengeance hunter. I've now tanked all 13 bosses in mythic hfc and have a decent idea of how they are performing. They are very high dps tanks but they currently have very little aoe scaling and there are times where you will feel very squishy such as mythic tyrant and archimonde while tanking a doomcaller and the boss. Come legion these two problems will be mostly fixxed due to the addition of the sustained damage mitigation of painvringer and fueled by pain and their aoe scaling is amazing with charred warblades. If you are thinking of dropping the vengeance demon hunter because you see lots of videos calling them shit, sit down and really learn how to min-max this tank, it's an absolute joy to play.
2 weeks into the xpac, I've never been so happy about a class reroll. Vengeance DH is just incredible. And btw, they'll be very good for Mythic+ aswell !
Quite a bit late in this, but... as someone who has literally *zero* experience tanking before Legion (Been rocking the Afflock since Wrath and Resto/Boomkin Druid since mid-BC) my first time messing around with tanking was in MoP with the Brewmaster Monk, but I didn't take it seriously (just did it for the fast queues, and holy hell were they fast) and only did it to lvl the little fat panda that I loved at the time up to 90... In Legion, I took a look at Veng DHs because "It's new, and looks cool"... I didn't know at the time that I just went full on easymode. Between the self heals and the healer's heals (I have more than once, topped the healer in heals), it feels like you'd expect if you combined the mobility of a monk who's been spicing his brews with crack, and the healing of a Blood DK. From my experience... you either have the most badass tank that you'll ever see (who does a decent amount of damage), or a glorified rogue, if you have a DH tank.
i totally agree, prot warriors are always preferred by serious raid guilds. They just have tools for all kinds of situation, with decent mobility, etc, i do wish we get the sunder effect back on devastate .

I'ved played as a prot warrior for about 8 years now, and I'd argue that they are the best solo content tanks, along with best mitigation. Ignore pain is considered a shield and I'm consistently outhealing DKs and DH tanks. Now I do agree, brewmaster is hard as hell to play correctly.

As a healer I'm gonna say Bear Tanks are #1. Mainly because they artificially inflate my numbers :).
As someone who heals and tanks, that's a little bit of a ridiculous reason. Blood DK will do the same, and a good Brewmaster is really dependable.

Guardian Druid is my favorite tank to play right next to warrior but probably my favorite class in the whole game... never get bored of it

I've been playing prot warrior for most of this expac and have recently swapped to a vengeance hunter. I've now tanked all 13 bosses in mythic hfc and have a decent idea of how they are performing. They are very high dps tanks but they currently have very little aoe scaling and there are times where you will feel very squishy such as mythic tyrant and archimonde while tanking a doomcaller and the boss. Come legion these two problems will be mostly fixxed due to the addition of the sustained damage mitigation of painvringer and fueled by pain and their aoe scaling is amazing with charred warblades. If you are thinking of dropping the vengeance demon hunter because you see lots of videos calling them shit, sit down and really learn how to min-max this tank, it's an absolute joy to play.

2 weeks into the xpac, I've never been so happy about a class reroll. Vengeance DH is just incredible. And btw, they'll be very good for Mythic+ aswell !

Quite a bit late in this, but... as someone who has literally *zero* experience tanking before Legion (Been rocking the Afflock since Wrath and Resto/Boomkin Druid since mid-BC) my first time messing around with tanking was in MoP with the Brewmaster Monk, but I didn't take it seriously (just did it for the fast queues, and holy hell were they fast) and only did it to lvl the little fat panda that I loved at the time up to 90...
In Legion, I took a look at Veng DHs because "It's new, and looks cool"... I didn't know at the time that I just went full on easymode. Between the self heals and the healer's heals (I have more than once, topped the healer in heals), it feels like you'd expect if you combined the mobility of a monk who's been spicing his brews with crack, and the healing of a Blood DK.
From my experience... you either have the most badass tank that you'll ever see (who does a decent amount of damage), or a glorified rogue, if you have a DH tank.

i totally agree, prot warriors are always preferred by serious raid guilds. They just have tools for all kinds of situation, with decent mobility, etc, i do wish we get the sunder effect back on devastate .

I'ved played as a prot warrior for about 8 years now, and I'd argue that they are the best solo content tanks, along with best mitigation. Ignore pain is considered a shield and I'm consistently outhealing DKs and DH tanks. Now I do agree, brewmaster is hard as hell to play correctly.

Interesting about prot warrior. Whilst I play prot warrior and find it fine Method Sco has been playing a lot of blood DK and maybe changing his main. What makes prot so good end game in Legion?
