A Priest is a shadow of its former self. The changes always seem to be this weird justification for changes, that seem to be made at the last second cause they ran out of time... they were a mana battery, then a hybrid dps, then a full dps dot machine that had to clip cast mind flay to lag, then we got burst, then nerfed, then we became Old God puppets and then a hunter kill stealed void form and we got meh! Shadow Priest has never ever had a new expansion class change that wasn't broken or felt out of place until mastered. I was hoping they would get a great first pass this expansion, but seems they ran out of time again :( I think Blizzard just chooses to punish Priests, in the hope we give up and switch to fulltime Healing :O
boxhead6177 They should have just left Launch Legion Shadow how it was tbh. Yeah it was slightly OP but it was balanced out by being difficult to play and only really effective in single target situations. Plus it was stupid fun to play a fast paced spec that essentially had a limit breaker.
I don't like how they nerfed self healing and now my Spriest only has three attacks. Demo lock, on the other hand, has so many summoned pets I can't keep track of them all. =/
Goldfiend I find new Demo surprisingly fun, lots of buttons to press and some meaty spells like Implosion, Hand of Gul'dan and Demonbolt minus the incredibly awkward Demonic Empowerment. Regarding SP in it's current state I would say wait until 8.1 when it should be reworked into something good.

Between how promising each spec feels on top of those long-awaited new visuals, I'm very excited to play warlock at the start of BfA.

Same. I play shadow and enh and the fo forecast doesnt look too great. May switch to a lock or mage. They kind of scare me though because I like to be able to heal if I'm low hp.

Josh_519 affliction has always been my favorite dps spec in the game. With unholy being my favorite melee and druids being my favorite healers. I love dot/hot concept. Infesting/cursing being my favorite gameplay style I just wish it wouldn't ever be op so people stay away that dont like the spec for its playstle
LAWL On you gave me such a hearty laugh I almost forgot I even had as shaman... but seriously if they returned Wind Walk I'd be happy. I didn't play my shaman hardly at all in legion because I was tired of doing virtually no damage since I was constantly forced to move and thus start over.
An idea for BlizzCon for you guys (T&E) this year. Taliesin rocks onto the stage during the costume competition as a human male in tuxedo transmog followed by Evitel in human female wedding dress transmog. Once the crowd quietens down, Chris Metzen wanders onto the stage in a priest transmog (Tier 1?) and performs a short ceremony ending with 'You are now married, FOR THE HORDE!' The crowd goes apeshit, T&E kiss, and the show goes on.
That's sort of funny, Liam O'brien who voices Illidan is playing D&D with a guy named Taliesin (another voice actor, not this guy). Also Matt Mercer is the DM.
Returning for BfA, I want to main a class that I haven’t much played at max level in the past. I instantly thought Warlock, and this video sealed the deal. Thanks for making it easy for me!
As long as Frost or Fire are in good places, I'm a happy Mage. Of course watching Warlocks ascend above Mages will sting for a bit, but on the bright side we get to see them fall when the nerf bat smacks them.
Agreed, as that GCD really did a number on them, so I don't understand how people keep saying that they're so good when they aren't. They are very slow and boring with no real WOW factor to cling to and just because they get two barrage like abilities doesn't mean they're good but to each his own lol.
The only people who think hunters are in a good spot right now are people who don't main hunter. Bm is WAY TO SIMPLISTIC. MM is way to fookin slow, and feels TERRIBLE in pvp. (do in part to having zero mobility because your damage is reliant mostly on aimshotting.) I would like to see The big Crit hit instant cast playstyle with Steady shot make its return. Aim shot should buff crit chance, give back chim shot as baseline and make it hit like a fookin truck on a medium CD of like 12-30 seconds. What we have now is BORING. Survival is even dogshit because its so damn clunky to play with. I just want survival to be a dot spec again. if they are gonna have kill command on Survival they should just make survival bm and make survival a dot ranged spec again. was so much fucking funner.
Deathgearox3 you don't sound like a hunter main tbh. BM in BFA is way better and same goes for Survival. Never really liked MM besides from when you were able to put points in all three specs. MM just need to have Aimed Shot to scale with haste...
Based on the numbers, I don't mind Beastmaster since it has a ton of players that use it and still seem to enjoy it. I don't mind survival hunter as it is either, but just wish the old survival ranged stuck around instead, and marksman was instead replaced.
I'm switching mains from shadow priest for the first time in....10 years? in bfa. Absolute travesty. I know they're getting changes in 8.1, but I don't want to invest time in a spec I don't like in hope that it'll MAYBE get better months down the line. Just not worth the gamble. RIP shadow
mark blick I'm in the same boat, only I do think I'll level my priest also and keep him ready hoping that the 8.1 changes work out. Disc is exceptional in BfA so I can always just have him as a healer alt if that's how it turns out. Just, sucks to let go of a character I've played since vanilla. I was so happy that shadow uses staves again because it means I can move to my trusty old anathema. Oh well.
I can say that I do not like spriest in BfA beta at all right now. But I went back to my Legion spriest, and it made me hate Legion spriest even more (first character I killed Mythic Argus on). BfA spriest is like Legion spriest with the fast casting gimmick stripped out. It exposes all the problems shadow had since legion alpha (there was a lot of concerns back then, but Sephuz was handed spriest in that state by Celestalon..). Sadly I don't think the spec can be fixed as long as void form remains a cyclical cooldown.
Jaigarful I kinda agree that the legion spriest is a deeply, deeply flawed spec as well, but at least it's mad fun when it works well. I do hope they don't completely strip it's unique feel when they rework it tho
Ye lgion shadow is very rewarding, but there are too many fights with shit mechanics that force you to leave voidform. I will level my priest only for achievements, and will raid as mage or paladin
Funny actually, but how Tali sees Eles is how I see Shadow. Didn't main shadow, mained shaman for 3 expansions, but played a very good amount on shadow, and yes whilst it is a bit clunckier than before, I still think the class is super fun and one of the best ranged dps in wow and also why I am quitting shaman to play priest full time. Shamans just aren't fun (for me at least) in BfA as of now... Still, great video as always! Congratulations on the wedding you two, and enjoy the honey moon! Have lots of delicious wine for me!!!!
Elemental shaman is besides shadow the worst spec in the game now. It feels horrible to play, with 50% nerfed maelstrom regen AND nearly double the cost for an earthquake at the same time = horrible AoE! (your single target is dogshit too btw) In Legion you could get those holy grail moments when you got mastery procs for multiple earthquakes and in BfA you need 3-4 chain lighting uses for a SINGLE earthquake (in legion that was 1 chain lighting for 1 earthquake btw)
Even when you play lightning spec, in aoe, it still feels slow and then suddenly BOOM full maelstrom for one earthquake. Idk how blizzard could make SHOOTING LIGHTNING FROM MY FINGERTIPS not fun, but they sure nailed it.
I feel like maining shaman comes with chronic cry, I like it better in BfA than Legion, yall biased anyways cuz its a "shaman". They added some neat talents, like double overload or free maelstrom cost, its chaotic RNG oriented spec as always shaman was, got fairly often 3-4 earthquakes cast in row of the proc, which I find on the edge of healthy 1 button >instant cast< spam.... get a grip people really, shamans spells are one of most satisfying in the game since forever, you can always reroll if you care about numbers, or you like the fantasy and want push your fav class beyond what dps tables told you
Reno Reins i agree with you the shaman spells are very nice but if you a raider and you dont look into the numbers you will not get a spot to raid keep that in mind you can talk about the spells all day but if they dont do damage then all you have is a fancy paper weight
I have always been an Arcane Mage fan. I have been preparing my Warlock for play though, just to be safe, but I loved the idea that I can cast Arcane Missiles when I want as, for me, they are one of the most fun aspects of that spec. EVERYONE seems to be frost and while I do like fire... I dunno, it lacks something I can't put my finger on, though that animation where your character is on fire looks sweet. I rerolled a Void Elf Arcane Mage to take advantage of no interrupts in my casting and so far it has been doing very well. Time will tell I guess. Oh, and CONGRATS on your marriage! I hope you last as long as mine has, which has been 33 years so far, and I still tell her I lover her at least twice a day, often more, and I mean it. She's my best friend. The key to making it work, consider your partner's feelings and needs before your own. When my wife doesn't feel like cooking, I cook. When she doesn't feel like doing the dishes, I do them. And she does the same back for me. Neither one of us ever complain about it because we WANT to please each other. And good marriages exist all over, you just only hear about the bad news, such is the state of society these days. Anyhow, you look like a lovely couple.

Carl Carlson some of them do work that way! But instead they are a talent. For example an artifact skill for ele shamans. [Stormkeeper] is now a talent instead of part of the artifact line which of course goes away for BFA.
I don't think it would be "sad" if Void Form became a CD. First, insanity was a great solution to the few problems that Shadow Orbs had. The problem is Void Form added a whole host of problem on top of everything (way more than Shadow Orbs). Look at how many talents (Legion and BFA) and changes in general were dedicated trying to make Void Form work in certain situations. It is not something you have a lot of control over and does not work at a fundamental level. Players want control over their damage. If it is a CD (and a meaningful one) this will fix one of the big problems with Shadow Priests... they have no on demand damage like pretty much every other DPS spec in the game. The other problem that has historically plagued Shadow is pitiful single target damage... many expansions they were arguably the worst single target spec in the game. Every other DPS spec can do decent aoe and single target damage. Moving Shadow to a builder/spender, like many other specs, usually means there is an aoe and a single target spender. This single target spender could be designed in such a way to address this. Imagine if every time it is applied it adds more damage, or if it buffs the damage of your next Mind Blast on the target, or if it puts a debuff on a target that you try to keep up, or it is a reworked version of Devouring Plague which would make everyone happy, and so on. There are a ton of ways to fix this if they separate Insanity from Void Form. If it means Shadow can have on demand damage, control over their damage, and reliable as well as respectable single target damage, I'm all for it.
I'm a simple man & I like my simple class. BM is great. I love animals, I love mobility, I love bows & I love feeling as if I'm not completely shit. Plus because it's so simple it allows me to focus more on mechanics. Still don't like MM. SVL is interesting though.

BM has been my main since i started right before WoTLK...I've had to endure all those years of harassment for playing it....i'm so glad more people actually like the whole animal thing like me..
Simply dont care about what others think. I have 4 classes at 11/11 mythic and my main is still a BM on which i raidlead as well. People making fun of others just because they play bm, frost or whatever while barely being able to clear normal hold no value anyway. The games difficulty does not come from class design and execution. 80%+ of it is in the encounter design.
Sounds like something I heard every time in Gnomergon while leveling many many times in the past lol. "OKAY, who didn't dismiss their pet?" as everyone looks at the Warlock and see's the pet right next to um and then everyone looks at the Hunter and the Hunter's pet is dead on the top floor or on the ramp HAHA.

But I want my Legion affliction stuff back: strong as rock tanking pet, damaging and healing myself with one spell, being tough as tank. And crazy AoE, and everything dying and blowing up around. So no one can tell me that my damage is crap due to some rogue already killed trash with Fan of Knives while I was applying dots.
Well at least it look like Demo will be finally fun to play. A lot of clunky stuff is gone, new addition looks amazing. On other hand destro seems to continue feel like playing fire mage after lobotomy.
Congrats on the wedding!! On my shaman I play a master of elements icefury build on beta and it doesn’t do very much damage but damn it’s fun as hell to play. I think overall the spec just feels slow and unrewarding at times considering our lack of mobility. Echo and gust of wind need to be baseline. Stormkeeper baseline would be cool too considering the huge nerfs it got. Or even bringing back lightning rod as a baseline passive would be absolutely amazing and would keep me from complaining about how terrible earthquake feels I don’t even care just give us lightning rod blizzard pls. Oh and they need to get rid of earthen rage as a talent it is SO BORING. The spec isn’t unplayable and I’m enjoying the build I use but it definitely needs a lot of work.
Taliesin and Evitel seem really.... 'engaged' with BfA :3 But for real, I wish you all the best for your time together. And depending the video... they fixed a lot of problems from alpha times by now :) I want to try them all once they are live
As an Arcane Mage main, all I can say is “Well, shit.” Blizz clearly doesn’t have anyone on the design team who plays the spec, much like most guilds in the game.
i totally get you my arcane brother :'( no aluneth = less fun + less mana + less useful arcane power and rune of power. and may i also say, i never really ran out of mana specially with the hat legendary, (i think it was called "gravity spiral") & even without it, with arcane power lasting 15 seconds and reducing mana cost by 60% and aluneth giving 25% of my maximum mana back upon explosion, it's easy to keep your mana up. eat a mana bun when the mobs are killed, and then double blink to catch up to the rest of the raid = unlimited mana
In the last couple of weeks we received a new Arcane dev to replace the one we had throughout Legion, the previous dev is the guy who is ultimately responsible for the spec being forgotten and left incomplete. The patch week we received Time Anomoly, Reverberate and Touch of the Magi as talents was the first change our new dev has made so far. The last guy essentially shut himself in his office, blocked his ears and refused to listen to any of our feedback until he could no longer ignore it (Quickening fiasco being the prime example).
i don't often reed the forums. what do you (and other arcane mages you know) want to happen to our spec? what do you think will replace Aluneth, what do you think is lacking, etc?
So far we've been given a broader viable mix of talents but our baseline is unfinished and untuned. Most of us over at the Arcane Dream Discord server want to see Blizzard expand upon the mana management side of Arcane; best way to achieve this is through new spells and talents that let you control how quickly you spend mana and conserve mana. Mana management is both Arcane's curse and blessing and is not an easy thing to get right enough (it's hard to strike a perfect balance there) but it makes the spec truly unique in a good way if done right. Right now the idea from Blizzard looks like they want Arcane Missiles to be the quick and expensive nuke to take out a target quickly with Arcane Blast and Arcane Barrage being the core tools to manage your burn and conserve with. Arcane Explosion was taken off the charge system due to it being one of the strongest AoE spells in the game for little resource drawback, problem is that we have no way to throttle mana in AoE without resorting to hardcasting Arcane Blast in melee range. Likely solution is that we need a new AoE spell that is mana friendly and isn't on a cooldown. Our talents are definitely improved from Legion from a choice perspective which was a needed change. Maybe if the devs could take some time to make more laser chicken model so we don't have to be running around with the same old boring model for yet another expansion. Honestly, they've created 27 new cat forms along with the basic colors and 27 new bear forms along with the basic colors. Meanwhile Moonkins have one.... ONE! choice, not even a single recolor. NOTHING! It's a travesty!
I hate the regular chicken model, so I am a traitor then. Or you know, someone who doean't like the blank, dopey look in the plum things eyes, and stepping in my own rear. Now Zandalari Moonkin forms. That's something way better.

as someone who has been playing a lock since vanilla (including the dark days of Cata) it is going to be really hard to handle the number of FOTM players who don't even know you can use a soulstone as a battle rez (saw that last night )

I rolled an elemental shammy for B4A and am having so much fun with it. To be honest I have barely played shaman previously since warlock is my preferred class ... but decided to try something new. Glad I did.
Is it only I who enjoyed playing Demonology in Legion? Sure, it is hard to get wrapped around but it is as simple as shadowbolting and some quick casts to get all your demons out there, add some buffs to them and demonic aura and then repeat. You might even be capable of having your demons out at all times, all it requires for you is start it up with like 3 shadowbolts and 2 quick casts and you're good to go.
The problem is that with how important Demonic Empowerment was, any mechanic that required you to move could completely shit all over your DPS. If you were allowed stand and cast with no interruptions it was fun (which coincidentally is why everyone thought it would be great in the beta, because they were fighting dummies), but unfortunately that's extremely rare, so it just became more frustrating than anything when you had to play around mechanics.
M J - It is exactly what I thought after watching Blizzcon. Idea of "faction wars" even worse than idea of fighting orcs on Draenor. And youtubers got bored this time even faster than in WoD beta.
And at the end of expansion we will have small zone with tentacles and door to final raid with some old god for raiders. And maybe some "biggest patch ever made" with island and world quests in the middle of expansion (in worst case patch with improved selfie camera).

I liked the idea behind it, but when it comes to usefulness and change that it brought in how the class plays (new spells, completely different style of play in the same spec etc), it was mostly minor IMO........ 1-2% higher dmg etc. nothing really too unique about them...
krim7 people always look up builds no matter what you put in the game, at least back then I felt like I could make unique builds and have progression during leveling

I love that affliction is so flexible that I am so excited to play it for EVERY TALENT YOU DID NOT MENTION haha! Seriously, I'm glad that all those "create more buttons for generating and exploiting windows" talents exist for those that want that style, but with the same spec I can talent into minimal buttons and maximum effectiveness for a DoT that never falls off and therefore requires less brainwidth. Also, I can keep drain soul and have an interrupt without summoning one of the ugliest pets in the game, or any pet for that matter! It's all about controlling the aesthetic and not being weighted down by a pet that doesn't color co-ordinate!
You know what would be great :P if you could import your voice and do the countdown for DBM! 3 , 2 , 1 Go go go go go!

As long as Frost or Fire are in good places, I'm a happy Mage. Of course watching Warlocks ascend above Mages will sting for a bit, but on the bright side we get to see them fall when the nerf bat smacks them.

MM hunters feel slow to me. I just wait on aimed shot CD or slap the target with a wet noodle aka arcane shot. That's it, that's how boring they are
Agreed, as that GCD really did a number on them, so I don't understand how people keep saying that they're so good when they aren't. They are very slow and boring with no real WOW factor to cling to and just because they get two barrage like abilities doesn't mean they're good but to each his own lol.
The only people who think hunters are in a good spot right now are people who don't main hunter. Bm is WAY TO SIMPLISTIC. MM is way to fookin slow, and feels TERRIBLE in pvp. (do in part to having zero mobility because your damage is reliant mostly on aimshotting.) I would like to see The big Crit hit instant cast playstyle with Steady shot make its return. Aim shot should buff crit chance, give back chim shot as baseline and make it hit like a fookin truck on a medium CD of like 12-30 seconds. What we have now is BORING. Survival is even dogshit because its so damn clunky to play with. I just want survival to be a dot spec again. if they are gonna have kill command on Survival they should just make survival bm and make survival a dot ranged spec again. was so much fucking funner.

BM in BFA is way better and same goes for Survival. Never really liked MM besides from when you were able to put points in all three specs.
MM just need to have Aimed Shot to scale with haste...
Based on the numbers, I don't mind Beastmaster since it has a ton of players that use it and still seem to enjoy it. I don't mind survival hunter as it is either, but just wish the old survival ranged stuck around instead, and marksman was instead replaced.

I'm switching mains from shadow priest for the first time in....10 years? in bfa. Absolute travesty. I know they're getting changes in 8.1, but I don't want to invest time in a spec I don't like in hope that it'll MAYBE get better months down the line. Just not worth the gamble. RIP shadow
mark blick I'm in the same boat, only I do think I'll level my priest also and keep him ready hoping that the 8.1 changes work out. Disc is exceptional in BfA so I can always just have him as a healer alt if that's how it turns out. Just, sucks to let go of a character I've played since vanilla. I was so happy that shadow uses staves again because it means I can move to my trusty old anathema. Oh well.
I can say that I do not like spriest in BfA beta at all right now. But I went back to my Legion spriest, and it made me hate Legion spriest even more (first character I killed Mythic Argus on). BfA spriest is like Legion spriest with the fast casting gimmick stripped out. It exposes all the problems shadow had since legion alpha (there was a lot of concerns back then, but Sephuz was handed spriest in that state by Celestalon..). Sadly I don't think the spec can be fixed as long as void form remains a cyclical cooldown.
Jaigarful I kinda agree that the legion spriest is a deeply, deeply flawed spec as well, but at least it's mad fun when it works well. I do hope they don't completely strip it's unique feel when they rework it tho
Ye lgion shadow is very rewarding, but there are too many fights with shit mechanics that force you to leave voidform. I will level my priest only for achievements, and will raid as mage or paladin
Funny actually, but how Tali sees Eles is how I see Shadow. Didn't main shadow, mained shaman for 3 expansions, but played a very good amount on shadow, and yes whilst it is a bit clunckier than before, I still think the class is super fun and one of the best ranged dps in wow and also why I am quitting shaman to play priest full time. Shamans just aren't fun (for me at least) in BfA as of now...

Elemental shaman is besides shadow the worst spec in the game now.
It feels horrible to play, with 50% nerfed maelstrom regen AND nearly double the cost for an earthquake at the same time = horrible AoE! (your single target is dogshit too btw)
In Legion you could get those holy grail moments when you got mastery procs for multiple earthquakes and in BfA you need 3-4 chain lighting uses for a SINGLE earthquake (in legion that was 1 chain lighting for 1 earthquake btw)

Even when you play lightning spec, in aoe, it still feels slow and then suddenly BOOM full maelstrom for one earthquake.
Idk how blizzard could make SHOOTING LIGHTNING FROM MY FINGERTIPS not fun, but they sure nailed it.
Look for 8.1 to be a major change to shamans bringing a totem centric playstyle.
I feel like maining shaman comes with chronic cry, I like it better in BfA than Legion, yall biased anyways cuz its a "shaman". They added some neat talents, like double overload or free maelstrom cost, its chaotic RNG oriented spec as always shaman was, got fairly often 3-4 earthquakes cast in row of the proc, which I find on the edge of healthy 1 button >instant cast< spam.... get a grip people really, shamans spells are one of most satisfying in the game since forever, you can always reroll if you care about numbers, or you like the fantasy and want push your fav class beyond what dps tables told you
Reno Reins i agree with you the shaman spells are very nice but if you a raider and you dont look into the numbers you will not get a spot to raid keep that in mind you can talk about the spells all day but if they dont do damage then all you have is a fancy paper weight
I have always been an Arcane Mage fan. I have been preparing my Warlock for play though, just to be safe, but I loved the idea that I can cast Arcane Missiles when I want as, for me, they are one of the most fun aspects of that spec. EVERYONE seems to be frost and while I do like fire... I dunno, it lacks something I can't put my finger on, though that animation where your character is on fire looks sweet. I rerolled a Void Elf Arcane Mage to take advantage of no interrupts in my casting and so far it has been doing very well. Time will tell I guess.
Oh, and CONGRATS on your marriage! I hope you last as long as mine has, which has been 33 years so far, and I still tell her I lover her at least twice a day, often more, and I mean it. She's my best friend. The key to making it work, consider your partner's feelings and needs before your own. When my wife doesn't feel like cooking, I cook. When she doesn't feel like doing the dishes, I do them. And she does the same back for me. Neither one of us ever complain about it because we WANT to please each other. And good marriages exist all over, you just only hear about the bad news, such is the state of society these days. Anyhow, you look like a lovely couple.

why not just give artifact abillities as new spells that you learn as you lvl?
Carl Carlson some of them do work that way! But instead they are a talent. For example an artifact skill for ele shamans. [Stormkeeper] is now a talent instead of part of the artifact line which of course goes away for BFA.

I don't think it would be "sad" if Void Form became a CD. First, insanity was a great solution to the few problems that Shadow Orbs had. The problem is Void Form added a whole host of problem on top of everything (way more than Shadow Orbs). Look at how many talents (Legion and BFA) and changes in general were dedicated trying to make Void Form work in certain situations. It is not something you have a lot of control over and does not work at a fundamental level. Players want control over their damage.
If it is a CD (and a meaningful one) this will fix one of the big problems with Shadow Priests... they have no on demand damage like pretty much every other DPS spec in the game. The other problem that has historically plagued Shadow is pitiful single target damage... many expansions they were arguably the worst single target spec in the game. Every other DPS spec can do decent aoe and single target damage. Moving Shadow to a builder/spender, like many other specs, usually means there is an aoe and a single target spender. This single target spender could be designed in such a way to address this. Imagine if every time it is applied it adds more damage, or if it buffs the damage of your next Mind Blast on the target, or if it puts a debuff on a target that you try to keep up, or it is a reworked version of Devouring Plague which would make everyone happy, and so on. There are a ton of ways to fix this if they separate Insanity from Void Form.
If it means Shadow can have on demand damage, control over their damage, and reliable as well as respectable single target damage, I'm all for it.

BM is great. I love animals, I love mobility, I love bows & I love feeling as if I'm not completely shit.
Plus because it's so simple it allows me to focus more on mechanics.
Still don't like MM. SVL is interesting though.

BM has been my main since i started right before WoTLK...I've had to endure all those years of harassment for playing it....i'm so glad more people actually like the whole animal thing like me..
Simply dont care about what others think. I have 4 classes at 11/11 mythic and my main is still a BM on which i raidlead as well. People making fun of others just because they play bm, frost or whatever while barely being able to clear normal hold no value anyway.
The games difficulty does not come from class design and execution. 80%+ of it is in the encounter design.

Sounds like something I heard every time in Gnomergon while leveling many many times in the past lol. "OKAY, who didn't dismiss their pet?" as everyone looks at the Warlock and see's the pet right next to um and then everyone looks at the Hunter and the Hunter's pet is dead on the top floor or on the ramp HAHA.

But I want my Legion affliction stuff back: strong as rock tanking pet, damaging and healing myself with one spell, being tough as tank. And crazy AoE, and everything dying and blowing up around. So no one can tell me that my damage is crap due to some rogue already killed trash with Fan of Knives while I was applying dots.

On my shaman I play a master of elements icefury build on beta and it doesn’t do very much damage but damn it’s fun as hell to play. I think overall the spec just feels slow and unrewarding at times considering our lack of mobility.
Echo and gust of wind need to be baseline. Stormkeeper baseline would be cool too considering the huge nerfs it got. Or even bringing back lightning rod as a baseline passive would be absolutely amazing and would keep me from complaining about how terrible earthquake feels I don’t even care just give us lightning rod blizzard pls. Oh and they need to get rid of earthen rage as a talent it is SO BORING.
The spec isn’t unplayable and I’m enjoying the build I use but it definitely needs a lot of work.

Blizz clearly doesn’t have anyone on the design team who plays the spec, much like most guilds in the game.

no aluneth = less fun + less mana + less useful arcane power and rune of power.
and may i also say, i never really ran out of mana specially with the hat legendary, (i think it was called "gravity spiral") & even without it, with arcane power lasting 15 seconds and reducing mana cost by 60% and aluneth giving 25% of my maximum mana back upon explosion, it's easy to keep your mana up.
eat a mana bun when the mobs are killed, and then double blink to catch up to the rest of the raid = unlimited mana
In the last couple of weeks we received a new Arcane dev to replace the one we had throughout Legion, the previous dev is the guy who is ultimately responsible for the spec being forgotten and left incomplete.
The patch week we received Time Anomoly, Reverberate and Touch of the Magi as talents was the first change our new dev has made so far. The last guy essentially shut himself in his office, blocked his ears and refused to listen to any of our feedback until he could no longer ignore it (Quickening fiasco being the prime example).
i don't often reed the forums. what do you (and other arcane mages you know) want to happen to our spec? what do you think will replace Aluneth, what do you think is lacking, etc?
So far we've been given a broader viable mix of talents but our baseline is unfinished and untuned.
Most of us over at the Arcane Dream Discord server want to see Blizzard expand upon the mana management side of Arcane; best way to achieve this is through new spells and talents that let you control how quickly you spend mana and conserve mana. Mana management is both Arcane's curse and blessing and is not an easy thing to get right enough (it's hard to strike a perfect balance there) but it makes the spec truly unique in a good way if done right.
Right now the idea from Blizzard looks like they want Arcane Missiles to be the quick and expensive nuke to take out a target quickly with Arcane Blast and Arcane Barrage being the core tools to manage your burn and conserve with. Arcane Explosion was taken off the charge system due to it being one of the strongest AoE spells in the game for little resource drawback, problem is that we have no way to throttle mana in AoE without resorting to hardcasting Arcane Blast in melee range. Likely solution is that we need a new AoE spell that is mana friendly and isn't on a cooldown.
Our talents are definitely improved from Legion from a choice perspective which was a needed change.

Maybe if the devs could take some time to make more laser chicken model so we don't have to be running around with the same old boring model for yet another expansion. Honestly, they've created 27 new cat forms along with the basic colors and 27 new bear forms along with the basic colors. Meanwhile Moonkins have one.... ONE! choice, not even a single recolor. NOTHING! It's a travesty!
I hate the regular chicken model, so I am a traitor then. Or you know, someone who doean't like the blank, dopey look in the plum things eyes, and stepping in my own rear.

I rolled an elemental shammy for B4A and am having so much fun with it. To be honest I have barely played shaman previously since warlock is my preferred class ... but decided to try something new. Glad I did.
As a lock main since TBC, I'm very sad about all FOTM that's about to come in :(
Is it only I who enjoyed playing Demonology in Legion? Sure, it is hard to get wrapped around but it is as simple as shadowbolting and some quick casts to get all your demons out there, add some buffs to them and demonic aura and then repeat. You might even be capable of having your demons out at all times, all it requires for you is start it up with like 3 shadowbolts and 2 quick casts and you're good to go.
The problem is that with how important Demonic Empowerment was, any mechanic that required you to move could completely shit all over your DPS. If you were allowed stand and cast with no interruptions it was fun (which coincidentally is why everyone thought it would be great in the beta, because they were fighting dummies), but unfortunately that's extremely rare, so it just became more frustrating than anything when you had to play around mechanics.
Remember when blizzard use to wait to release games until it was good...

M J - It is exactly what I thought after watching Blizzcon. Idea of "faction wars" even worse than idea of fighting orcs on Draenor. And youtubers got bored this time even faster than in WoD beta.
How did some ppl still not get the memo that bfa isnt about faction war but about old gods.
Venne - can you remember that WoD was not about orcs, garrison and docks - it was about Gul'Dan and Archimonde.
And at the end of expansion we will have small zone with tentacles and door to final raid with some old god for raiders. And maybe some "biggest patch ever made" with island and world quests in the middle of expansion (in worst case patch with improved selfie camera).

I liked the idea behind it, but when it comes to usefulness and change that it brought in how the class plays (new spells, completely different style of play in the same spec etc), it was mostly minor IMO........ 1-2% higher dmg etc. nothing really too unique about them...

krim7 people always look up builds no matter what you put in the game, at least back then I felt like I could make unique builds and have progression during leveling

I love that affliction is so flexible that I am so excited to play it for EVERY TALENT YOU DID NOT MENTION haha! Seriously, I'm glad that all those "create more buttons for generating and exploiting windows" talents exist for those that want that style, but with the same spec I can talent into minimal buttons and maximum effectiveness for a DoT that never falls off and therefore requires less brainwidth.
Also, I can keep drain soul and have an interrupt without summoning one of the ugliest pets in the game, or any pet for that matter! It's all about controlling the aesthetic and not being weighted down by a pet that doesn't color co-ordinate!
