That guy bet a LOT of money, and like....I get it's a new game, but like, it seems like he was completely new to fighting games. He never canceled any single hit confirms into specials or anything? and whenever there was an ez big punish, he opted for a single light hit?
This is really interesting to watch because it really feels like a mid game where every step is important, MK11 is so much about zoning and spam while here the proyectiles are more a tool than a play style i love it
Capcom should hire the art director & graphics designer of this game for Streetfighter 6. Samsho 2019 is how you bring 2D game to 3D!
I think these character models are a downgrade in comoarison to sfv tbh. Stages are nicer though....I hope sf6 looks a lot nicer than this.

@@TheRealAwestBeats yea 90% are buff, but i guess what i mean is visually sfv models look cleaner to me. Maybe that can be chalked up to the art styles but I really dont find this game that nice visually. Then again ive only seen it via TH-cam. Just my opinion.
Edit: and after going to look at the roster for this so far, almost all the guys are big and jacked. Some are just not noticable cause they're wearing baggy samurai clothes.
This "Auction Tournament" format makes me think that Samurai Shodown is gonna be the "money" game at all the tournaments.

For everyone doubting the gameplay depth..im a day one neo geo player...these guys aren't using barely any combos or even half of the characters special moves...the gameplay is way more in depth than what being displayed here..trust me!!

If this ends up being solid after release, I could see it getting popular if only because it seems a lot easier to pick up since it seems to rely more on footsies and fundamentals than just memorizing 300+ long ass combos like most fighting games.

Footsies and neutral control are arguably harder to learn than combos in most fighting games these days. Honestly, the incredibly lackluster combo game makes this game feel like one step forward, two steps back for Samurai Shodown. But that's just one man's take.

Cause SNK was broke as fuck for a few years only coming back because of KoF 14. And Samsho wasn't a very popular series before. No one would have been very hype over any of it.

@@AveMcree doubt you'll read this but eh maybe it's just not your cup of tea I mean I find this fun just because all the players are trying to feel each other but trying not to eat 75% damage which can happen in this game.
@ Except that SF2 Turbo doesn't really play like this. In sf2t and SF in general, characters actually have decent walk-speed so they can play footsies and much more dynamic left/right-oriented neutral, whereas in this game walk-speed is comparatively terrible (especially considering the large hitboxes characters have on average). This game's movement is extremely limited mechanically (very lacking in backwards movement besides, no hops/rolls and crappy walk leaves you with backdash and back-jump), and in general I'd say its not really comparable to SF. Let's just say there's a reason why samsho has had a dead playerbase for years, while sf2t and 3s still have decently sized scenes today.

There's combo but it focus a lot on neutral, shimmy, and whiff punish since one attack can take a lot of damage.
Fusion I wish there was a beta, I’ll still buy it but it’s nice to have a less combo focus fighter

Yes and it fits perfectly with the "samurai" theme since all characters are using deadly weapons where one hit can give you big advantage over your opponents. So reading your opponents and the mind game is very important.
I suggest you try previous title before you play with the new one. I think there's SamSho I, II, III, V, and VI with cheap price like 7-8 bucks on PS store or Steam.

Yeah...I completely forgot everything I practiced at PAX East with Nako. Tournament nerves are so bad after not having actually competed in anything in over 4...5 years?
Shiki's not really new, though. Her better known 2D outings were in NEOGEO Battle Coliseum and before that, SNK vs. Capcom: Chaos. And her 1st and 2nd 2D appearances were both on the NeoGeo Pocket Color's Samurai Shodown!2 and SNK Gal's Fighters. But not that many people got to play those.

The way I see it, it would not a bad idea to lab Samurai Shodown V Special on PS4, Switch, and PC (MVS if you're rockin' or home cart if you're ballin') if you want to get a feel for the game before the new one comes out. Issen in V Special is nowhere near as fast as it is in the new game, just keep that in mind.

So painful to watch so many players not use their characters properly. The Galford user was painful. No Poppy setups, lots of pointless backdashes at long range. His Genjuro-using opponent did not use the card bounce setup on Galford's wakeup either.

It def looks obnoxious, but that Genjuro was also playing absolutely retarded. There were many moments to punish the attack shown, but everyone in the tournament were glued to that damn heavy slash button, it was kinda frustrating lol.

They must have missed the trend of 2019 fighting games being more neutral-heavy and slow-paced like Samsho, MK11, Granblue....
I think the desire for neutral-heavy and slow pace is due to the sheer volume of games releasing, and how a lot of them recently have been these huge combo tomes that need memorizing. It's nice to just have a game that requires more mastery of fundamentals than memorizing long combos.

it may be lower priced too because not many have played the demo or have a legacy idea of their gameplan. Haohmaru went for 200$ I assume because everyone played him in the demo and they have a solid idea on playing the spacing game with him.
