In 2022 the changed the attachment from a star to an S configuration. I found that out after I bought new blades and took the first one off. I am having a very hard time finding 42" mulching blades for the S connection.
Oh wow, I didn't realize that. I think I saw them at lowes for sale not too long ago. You would think home depot would have them too selling cub cadet. I tried looking on Amazon but didn't see any either

What other options are there if you don’t have a compressor? I can’t get mine loose no matter what… they’ve been soaking in penetrating spray for two days now and they still won’t budge. I think I’m stuck with the old blades for life.
You could put a little heat to it, but not too much, just enough to soften up some loc tite that may be on there. You could also use a wedge, even a piece of wood between the blade and deck and it should hold in enough to free the bolt up.
Wow ive been changing blades on mowers of all types for over 20 years and i gotta say....how the hell did those get tore up on that side that bad.I can see the cutting side but man thats impressive.Holy geez!
🤣 I know right! I'm honestly not sure! My yard is flat and relatively clean. I always walk the yard for sticks and rocks, although my younger son definitely tosses an occasional rock or 2 around I may miss. It's definitely strange how it got like that.
Great question! You should not have to. If it makes you feel safer, there is nothing wrong with it either! As long as the blades aren't engaged and you're not spinning the blad fast enough to turn the motor over, there is nothing you should have to worry about. If you want to remove the negative cable from the battery, that is fine for piece of mind! I'm short, the answer is no, thanks for swinging by! I hope this video helps you!
24 mm socket is 15/16, and make sure you get the 6-point 15/16, not the 12-point that has teeth. Told my buddy this and he shrugged it off. Well he rounded out the nut and had to take a grinder to cut the whole thing out. Boy was he pissed

The blade nut is not 24mm it’s 15/16 . A 24 mm is the socket that is closest to 15/16 and will remove it . Metric / Standard Wrench Conversion Chart Bolt Diameter Metric Standard 1/2" 19mm 3/4" 9/16" 21mm 13/16" 22mm 7/8" 5/8" 24mm 15/16 Be sure the star is seated properly before tightening or it will cause the nut to back off and damaged the quill assembly also blade will come off. Our Cub cadet blade retainer nut are.. The retainer nut on most of our riding mower blades are a 5/8" thread diameter. This sized thread diameter nut normally requires a 15/16" wrench or socket tool in order to remove/install. This nut is a standard right-handed thread (rotate clockwise to tighten, counterclockwise loosen) and should be tightened to between 70 and 90 foot pounds of torque to fasten securely.

Great question! You should not have to. If it makes you feel safer, there is nothing wrong with it either! Yes that is correct! That's never good to have to take out a grinder or cut off tool to have to do that! Makes a 10 minute job a 30 minute process!

Yes, that exactly right. Wasn't even at all, very choppy looking. New blades made a beautiful cut after
When rocks got hit, the blade sorta mangled, and still cut, but not evenly. and that's why i'm here, the blade is messed up, time to replace.
