Nice motor Arthur! 😊 When you run the VIN through the JLR portal it states that the last recorded service was at a LR Main Dealer in the West Midlands on the 04/04/18 on 64477 miles. Another interesting fact , is that it was registered Causeway Grey in 2013 so wrap possibly done by the Main Dealership and the original paintwork is perfect. The only other recorded service was at 20/07/2016 on 46985 miles. Might explain a lot mechanically wise!
Wrap off definitely Joe , Satin finish the alloys ,full detail and sort the rusty tow bar. Hope you get the engine sorted cheap and you have a cruiser for collecting cars yourself.
You walked into that one, Joe. RRs are as reliable as Boris Johnson's wedding vows. Every time I call the AA out I always ask, which car do you get called out to the most? Without fail, every single time for years they say: Range Rovers. Great looking cars, well equipped, powerful but ultimately they will let you down...a lot.
Did you find any service history? Have you checked online? you might strike lucky. Fot the 4.4 turbo to go at 110k suggests lack of oil changes, and maintenance. If you're going to retail it, taking the wrap off will attract a much better type of customer (Those who want a 4.4 with a towbar). It depends how much work is needed to get the interior back up to scratch. You need a new spare tyre and the parcel shelf pins look broken (common). These costs soon add up.
If you do fancy something else Joe, mines going in as a part ex next month. 2021 Range Rover SVAutobiograpy dynamic black edition. 27500 miles full history and not missing an extra at £154.500.00 when ordered new in your favourite colour as it seems “ Santorini Black “ there’s only one on auto trader at the moment so easy to have a peak at. Change the battery and then clear all the errors. Run it and you will see if any return that are not just a voltage drop. 100% use as your own car once you have lived with one and learned a lot more about the platform you will be more aware when you look to buy another.
I would de-wrap the wing with the chips on first and see what the paint is like underneath. You can always replace that section if it is ropey underneath. I think a black on black car has a more universal appeal. At least it does over here in Surrey.
I once bought a wrapped car and never again, rain got under the wrap through pin holes/small scratch and turned to rust stains. My family have been trading 30+ years and there's always something to learn from
He who dares wins , or with JLR pays big bills . Brave man Joe. Wrap off and silver wheels then try and trade on . Retailing that will be 6 months of worry.
Hello from Ireland again, Joe. That Top-Don is the business. James just showed it to us earlier Joe. Lol. This Range Rover is exactly what you should be Buying. Great Buy I think. 🙏🙏👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 P.S Leave the Wrap Joe. Please don't tempt faith. If you do decide to go ahead, then unwrap it one panel at a time. Just in case there's something wrong with the Paint. 😅😅
With lack of service history I would run a mile. Vehicles need servicing every 5000 miles or once a year never any longer. I personally would never use a main dealer for servicing of any vehicle. The standard of work is criminal nowadays. I've caught Ford/ Honda/ land rover main dealers charging for work never done on people's cars. A wash and vacuum is not a service it means nothing. I use a good independent garage where the work is done properly.
We just got rid of our 2015 RR - After the Turbo went, the DPF went next, and they are renowned for the DPF being an issue. It also had dropped into limp mode before just because it needed a service and after a new Oil/fuel filter it was fine. But after a new EGR, turbo and DPF it was time to say goodbye. (although replaced it with another RR )

Murdered out it would look amazing but that colour is special and not to many like it. Sort the wheels out and you’ve got a lovely car there. Brilliant content as usual. Love it 👌
Absolutely first thing to have done was check oil pressure, you can get kits, most likely is that low pressure has knocked the turbo out, if so new one won't last 5 minutes, turbo needs loads of oil as it spins so high. Tbh once you saw the oil light on you should have given it a miss, oil pressure switch comes on about say 8 psi so if it's on you've got virtually no pressure, unless sender is faulty.
@@duncan-ellison yes totally right bud, Joe's a great guy but he doesn't seem to grasp the basics of mechanics, no oil pressure isn't just a mil light, it means the engines had it, bet whoever put it thru G3 is having a good laugh, having 12k in it, then say 4k on another engine, that's 16k for a wrapped RR with no history, all I can say is good luck.

On my l322 with same engine, the restricted performance issues are either split hoses on the rocker cover to central doughnut section, or a cracked rocker cover itself, or more commonly the turbo changeover valve jamming or not moving…… this is next to the intercooler, and will no doubt have a decent amount of oil still inside, from the bad turbo, (your smoke issue?). so you might want to disconnect it, and drain the oil out… it’s could even be the vacuum hose that makes the changeover valve operate has come off… the RP alarm comes on as the engine goes over 2500rpm? Also check your air inlets in the bonet, that the sound bags haven’t slid over, if they have push them back down to wear there ment to be.
Personally I like the wrap. It’s a big gamble removing it. I removed the wrap on a x5 I owned once and the paint underneath it was terrible. Had lots of repairs ended up getting the car repainted. Has for the l405 raffle sounds a good idea to me 😉
People wrap for one of three reasons: 1. They fancy a colour/image change 2. They want to hid the horrendous paintwork that you cannot now see 3. It is mum's birthday.

@@Mac_F87 Looks like you are right Mac all seven videos on jimmy channel about the throttle body are all 3ltr 6v.
@@woodytex8607 it’s because the SDV6 uses an all plastic throttle body and butterfly valve. The butterfly can move over time on the shaft. The TDV8/SDV8 is aluminium. So doesn’t suffer with the sticking problem luckily.
You might have to reprogram the ecu when you changed your turbo
I'd defo take that horrible wrap off and paint the wheels silver, its a top of the range car and needs to look like one, great content again. I'm a Jlr fan so ive been enjoying your recent purchases
Your a brave man Joe obviously loves a challenge you certainly have it on a RR however with your team and determination you might win, awesome video 🤞🤞😉☺️👌
great video as always.you guys should be new top gear hosts.well done all
Keep the wrap on it and gloss black alloys refurb would be good 👍
Back to Black...!!! 😎
Spitfire!? That's a Hurricane! What sort of Englishman are you?!!!😂 Great vid as always!👍
WeBuyCarsForMore is next to me in Newcastle, they usually get all the… “interesting cars” in 😅
I'd push that off the top of Brean Down (Weston side of course) and be done with it.......
Insurance may ask. How did it get up there?
4x4 mate.....easy
id get the wrap off and keep it if it suits your needs !
Joe I think you should keep it and do a few videos on it
Silver wheels will brighten the car up.😀
Get the wrap off, will look much nicer. Atm it looks like a distribution vehicle for suspicious substances!! Or someone making up for a tiny pecker!!!!!! Great video as always
Like to see it all finished. Leave the wrap. Do wheels. Cost. And then be a goodie .
110k is not much for that engine so long as its had an oil change or three.
Oh Joe I can vouch for Range Rover love affairs lol had 3 lots of expense and heartbreak, but love them ❤
Can you carry out a scan on your car even tho EML isn't on ? .Just concerned if I did one then the EML might come on..Any advice?
Yes, absolutely you can. It shouldn't bring the EML on
Thanks for info..Love your videos 👍
I'd not have bid bud on it on line, I'd have, as I do gone in person, revved the bollocks off it, seen the smoke, oil light on and walked away, or if I was sold on it negotiated later as I doubt anyone else was bidding. I deffo won't buy on line, I always go in person, try everything I can when the keys turn up, saves loads of hassle, cars are so troublesome now you can't bid blind, auction will have your trousers down, best of British with it anyway.
Problem is unfortunately most auction houses are online nowadays....
@@JamesTaylor-us7bz no bud, only bca is, all the others are open, I bought a couple at Aston barclay last night, you've just got to go, the ones I'd put on my watch list were crap.
Ironically an Ad came on halfway through this video for the new RR Sport that said "We love a challenge"
I'd love to see the original paintwork.. but like you say.. is it worth the grief.. fix the engine.. and see what happens 😊
I think your end cost will be £13,000,so with a retail of £15,500 all is not lost, and reassuring for any new owner to have a brand new turbo.
Who in their right mind would buy a RR with the last documented service 40k miles ago… For £15k 😂. This has raffle car all over it. Check the small print before you buy a ticket
Why make work keep the wrap what’s underneath could be more work and expense 🤔
Why would you buy a RR with no warranty, no service history etc. just a nightmare waiting to happen. Even if it was cheap!
Joe will you ever learn , think of your stress levels 😱
People saying buy a second hand rr cant affird one
