I had the sl6s for a while back in 88. I think the sl6 especially the first two versions excelled in the subtle delivery of their mid range. They kept everything controlled and that was their speciality. The aerolam or metal cabinet only really came into its own probably with the 700 & more so with its separate bass sub woofer. But really this was a different speaker by that time.
Good test track. For me the 100s were better. Better vocals. More clarity and resolution and space. That's listening through TH-cam though with headphones. Nice work
Cheers Matt. Celestion 100’s have been the most frustrating speakers I’ve ever owned, so wanted to love them but just couldn’t. Drastic changes (including your inductors) have sorted them finally.
The Works model on my HD800's with a HD800 headphone amp was clearly in front of the other two.. The 800's are a very revealing headphone and probably one of the best at the spacial thing.. This was easy. Oh one thing the bass was a step up to the original. However way back when I heard the original speaker with two xwings, you remember that sub that was so incredible, my jaw dropped. The 600's were in a massive carpeted dead 30'x25' listening room with the subs on either side and 6 mono amps.. I can't remember what they were but they were British and I'm guessing Cyrus.. When the 600 sing it's close to or if not better than a planar speaker on imaging. You're going to have to spend silly money to better it and with those subs which went down to 15Hz I think was just ridiculous.. Anyway I rant..Fab
White SL’s have poly on HF only. New Alcaps in LF circuit. 100’s now have air core inductor on LF, Janzen on HF and Clarity cap on LF. Mundorf M resist and mills.
Danke. Das ist sehr interessant. Die SL600 macht es farbig und spannen. Die anderen beiden klingen moderner …eben anders, und keinesfalls besser. Ich beneide dich um diese direkte Erfahrung. Gruß, Harald
Hi Ditton, Loving the channel. I am wondering if you might take a look at a pair of 100s I recently purchased? I am lucky as they sound pretty good already, but greedy to get them working as they should, if not better. l am petrified to DIY as I have no wish to damage them!!!!
Yeah, the extra clarity from your Ditton Works versions is easy to hear - great work!

Amazingly I preferred the 100's over the first followed by the second!
I’ve tweaked the 100’s. I’m pleased you liked them
100 all the way!
The 100's sounded much better imo. It was like going from mono to stereo.

Last one is best. It disappears where as the others sound like i am listening to a speaker. First rolled of like behind a curtain, second boxy.
Exactly what I heard too.
Better treble detail for your mods. Mid gains more hear through transparency too. Auri caps are gvfm imo. Dueland however rules 😂😂 2:20 😂😂

100's , the other pair sound like the vocalist has a cold . Weird and wonderful .
100s overall. Although I thought her voice sounded a tad more expressive through the SL6s
