Glad that you liked it Paul. I think I am up to 7 or 8 of them now. I might need an intervention. LOL. Thanks for tuning in this week.

First to post. Always interesting I think to watch some of these tools in action, especially when not familiar with them at all. Thanks again.

Great demo Kenny. I've been eyeing the xTool lasers for awhile but not sure if it is worth it for how much I expect to use it, but this may be an option for me. I didn't even know it existed before this!

I've done other shows on the Longer Ray5 series Don. One of them was for the Longer Ray5 10watt laser a while back. If you wanted to have a bit of a discussion about lasers, you can always email me at kennye@acutabovewoodworkings.com. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in.

Great video, lots of good ideas, would love to know your settings

For the most part, on a 20watt laser, I run the laser at 80% power and 5mm/sec speed for cutting. As for the engraving, I like using 65% power and 120mm/sec speed. I do variations of that but those are my "goto" settings to start. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in.

Good show Kenny, I would like to know your thoughts on how the Longer Ray 5 compares to the X-Tool. From scant checks I have done, the X -Tool with the assessories is about 30% more expensive.

They are two very different animals Jim. I have two suggestions for you.....One, tune in to this Tuesday's show (January 23) and two, shoot me an email if you wish to discuss it a little further. Thanks for tuning in and for chiming in with your thoughts. kennye@acutabovewoodworkings.com

Nice to see it running at it's actual speed, it was very slow at cutting out the circle for the signatures, although the engraving was a lot faster ... less power takes longer I suppose but is cheaper, probably more than powerful enjoy for home use 👍
I especially like the use of a laser with slate coasters, fantastic personalised gift idea 😁
BTW the play of the drawer is 'a multiple of the wall (ply) thickness', in the example you showed wall thickness is 3mm, therefore play is 3mm x 0.15 = 0.45mm ... also, is the play split between left/right and top/bottom or is it a total mount ... not sure why the person who wrote the code did it in this way, a bit of a strange method!

The speed settings when cutting can vary and if you want to go faster, you can. It's all about experimentation. Doing a cut test grid will definitely give you the settings for the highest speed for cutting. I'm not in a hurry so I just use the slower one. Thanks for tuning in Barry. Great to hear from you.

Since I have the 10 watt Longer Ray 5 does this mean that I can only make 2.5 of these 5 projects? 🤪🛫
    Another great video!

Looks like everyone on you tube gets a free machine. How can I get one too?

    • @acutabove_woodworkings

Not everyone gets free machines. Promotors are always on the lookout for channels that will promote their machines and they are looking to have plenty of subscribers to the channel and content that will fit in with the products that they are trying to promote. With over 850 episodes of the show on my channel and an audience base of over 86,000 subscribers, promoters see a potential for their products to get exposure. From what I see of your channel, you would need a lot more subscribers and a lot more useful content that would attract the promoters. I hope this helps. Thanks for tuning in to the show.
