For everyone who is inquiring or upset about my giveaway being on Instagram - sorry, but my giveaways will always be on Instagram for many reasons. The main reason is because, since I’m the one giving away free stuff, I’m going to use the platform that’s easiest for me to keep track of entries and contact people in the fairest way I possibly can. If you don’t use social media, my advice is just to make an account for the purpose of entering. Who knows, maybe you’ll win! 🥰 I can’t please everyone, I’m just one person, but please be kind. This is a giveaway, after all, and I’m just trying to spread some cheer. Please respect my boundaries with making this giveaway in the place that I have chosen. 💜
Also: comments disappear a lot on TH-cam, and the messaging feature has never worked well. Not sure if messaging even exists on here anymore either. That said, I do not find this platform to be a reliable place for this sort of thing, so please stop asking me to make exceptions. ✨
    Love you guys!! ✨💜☺️

Hey you just do you. Like Bob Ross says, it's your world, make it the way you want it.
I'm not on IG and wish luck to those who are.
I'd actually like to see someone compare all the different platforms for someone old like me and describe the differences and what they are used for, how easy to set up, pros and cons. I don't have a young person in my life who "knows everything"

    • @mjpete27
      @mjpete27 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I know that the public in general can be a real pain. You are trying to do something nice, spreading joy is a good thing! You should not have to be assaulted by the few that feel put upon because they cannot use or will not use a platform. I do not use Twitter, that is my choice. I do “miss out” on Twitter giveaways and polls and a myriad of other things. But I am not willing to give up what I have to give to participate in a social platform scheme that I don’t agree with. Please don’t let this get you down or let the naysayers discourage you. You’re a delightful young woman and I look forward to your videos and posts on Instagram. Good luck with the Etsy merchandise it all looks really fantastic! I am still enjoying my Miranda Byler Art and it is the first thing I see when entering my art space! I wish you only the very best and many customers too!

So, the Woody pencils are made for kids, but they are a great mixed media tool as well. You can use them over acrylic paints to add texture. And as already mentioned, one of the three uses beside colored pencil and crayon/oil pastel is being a watersoluble crayon like Neocolor II.
There 18 colors altogether including a light flesh and gold and silver.

I love oil pastels, particularly the tactile nature of them, however, I totally understand you having a negative sensory response to them and why you can't use them. As for a medium you should try, how about watercolour pencils. Or even the Derwent Inktense pencils on fabric. The inktense are watersoluble ink pencils that dry like waterproof ink, while w/c pencils are like water-soluble coloured pencils.

The autumn painting is so red and warm, I love it. I’ve seen the stay-wet palette before, it’s cool that you can keep some acrylic paint wet for a while. The crayons do look fun, seems they must be good cos they’re a little pricy for a kids’ product, the full set of 18 is £29 in the UK, but they do say the chunkiness makes them 8x the size of a normal pencil. They have a box aimed at kids and one for adults, the same thing except one has a brush, and they’re £2 different at least on Amazon UK, I guess that covers the brush.
Aren’t those square sketchbooks a great size and shape? The Illo is either not available in the UK or really expensive anyway, but Pink Pig, Seawhite and Khadi Papers do good square ones and after using a 10x10”, 6x6, and also A5 and A4, an 8x8” is an easier size to hold on my lap and I don’t have to decide on landscape or portrait (obviously it can be turned round).
I love oil pastels, but I know what you mean. It was sound for me, Derwent’s charcoal pencils were so scratchy. Also Conte’s carre hard pastel sticks, but not the ones I found by Sakura. I have some carbon pencils now, a mix of charcoal and graphite I think, by Wolff’s, and they’re fine, they’re softer. I blend oil pastels with paper stumps or rubber-tipped tools, though I have used my fingers before. Can also use a tightly-folded paper towel.

Hi, thanks again for another fab video! On the topic of the wet pallet you would be way better off ditching the supplied paper and just use parchment/baking paper cut to size, works so much better and less faffing about 😉 Stay safe 😁

many are, that's the side of the brain used for creativity, the side that controls the left hand. But many are ambidextrous or right handed too.

It’s pretty common for artists. I knew three left-handed arty guys all called Adam once (Jewish youth group), it was so funny.

@@recoveringsoul755 That's interesting because I actually I don't think have ever met a left handed artist besides my brother who is ambidextrous and writes with his left hand. Cool to know. 😎

    • @recoveringsoul755

@@lilys120 my husband's sister is left handded and so is her son, and my daughter is ambidextrous. Has horrible handwriting but they try to force everyone to be right handed in school. When she was little and I rolled a ball to her , she would reach for it with whichever hand was closest to the ball. My son would always use his right hand. Interesting right? Son ended up playing drums, neither seem interested in any arty stuff like a coloring book. I had to help with all their arty type school projects.
I think my girl is ambidextrous, pretty sure of it when I saw her cutting meat with the knife in her left hand. I keep telling her to try writing left handed but she's stubborn. I mean, if you feel like you have more control over something like a KNIFE with your left hand, you're probably left-handed, I'm just saying

Hi. You can add water to the woodys. Its a kind of watercolorpencil. They are high pigmented.

Oh my gosh when you were talking about the sensory sensitivity to oil pastels i was thinking about that with how i get a sensory overload whenever I work with clay, oil pastels and crayons. Something about the oily waxy feel of these materials really bothers me. Im glad im not alone in this!

I really hate oil pastels, too ,so much that they are buried deep in my closet, and wouldn't you know it.... my dear loving grandaughter, for Christmas, bought me the very same set I buried years earlier and a pad of paper. She said ... I know how much you wanted a set of pastels. What's a gramma to do? Of course I um.... a.... love them.I didn't have the heart to tell her it was chalk pastels I wanted and only for coloring clay at that cuz I hate the feel of them as well. Hahaha

I have issues with using tortillions to blend soft pastels or charcoal so I always use my fingers. There’s just something about the sound and feel of it rubbing against the paper. Ugh. Just thinking about it is making me uncomfortable.
