      Thank you, superwav! That means a lot to me. I wish you the very best in life and hope you can/have/or will discover the best ways for you to utilize your many gifts that you undoubtedly possess. I find new gifts pop up the more we use the gifts we already know we possess. Sometimes it's just sharing a kindness, compassion or a smile ... other times it's using our talents and skills. Thank you again for your comment. You made a very positive difference in my day!

      Valeria Cortez Trust me, it’s not. Knowing more and knowing your smarter than everyone else is not as good as it sounds. I’ve been at the top of my class with an IQ of 151 and it seems like I’m so disconnected from everything I thought I never wanted to achieve. He’s right, socially it’s hard to interact with other people, I often misjudge others psychologically responses because I always assume that they think the same as I do, it’s only natural.

    My name is Barker, Blayne and I scored an IQ of around 165 in over 7 professional facilities from around the world. I just wanted to say that everything he had said is very true and i respect all the notes and what not that he had to share, but one thing that you missed out was the comparison to other people with lower/average IQ's. As a genius (around 140+ IQ) depending on the person, your just understand things really well, and in my case i understand physics EXTREMELY easily. Where as most people have to study and do the math/calculations to find the answer to a problem, i can piece everything together almost instantly, and for harder things (like for example i spent many days thinking and designing an infinite power source and was actually pretty close but never quite got it.) it takes a few extra steps depending on how you learn things because REMEMBER IQ isn't intelligence... IQ is the ability to learn, and everyone has their own way of doing so. another thing is imagine CONSTANTLY thinking... you never have a moment to spare when it comes to thoughts and a lot of the time, your subconscious is very optimistic about being able to solve something. I personally get intense migraines from over thinking because when i finish one thought, i immediately go to the next, which is why you see a lot of geniuses doing things like solving problems or playing games/watching movies. It simply detracts the majority of your brains processes and allows a little bit of silence. And as Jeffery said at the end, dont neglect people that arnt on your level, its not how society is built up, its how its torn down..... ok no... i take that back, The Darwin Effect is a beautiful thing :P
    To Jeffery Ford: If you ever get a chance to make another video, please make one about some of the topics i listed. i would love to see you go in depth on a geniuses train of thought constantly running because i personally don't understand it myself, even with the little research i'v done. It would be a real eye opener :D

    I've never taken an IQ test before. I never went to college, or even finished high school. However, I am a freethinking, creative person who can imagine things that have never been imagined before. When I create something that's original, it's the most pleasurable, fulfilling experience I can have - even better than sex. And yes, I've been treated like a freak or weirdo by "normal people" all throughout my life. I use to surround myself with creative, intelligent people, but lately I've been choosing my friends by what's in their hearts and by how thoughtful and loving they are to others. A bighearted, compassionate person is what really makes a model citizen, not a highbrow know-it-all. I was very happy to see that you share the same sentiment, Jeffrey. Thank you for your wisdom!

      I've scored near genius (striking range to 160). My issue is, it's more of burden, than anything else. My brain never wants to shut off. I mean---never. Like Jeffrey has stated more than once, there are definitely ups and downs. I don't think it's as glamorous as television and media make it out to be.

  • @Blackwater2
    @Blackwater2 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    2:50 That is a perfect way of explaining it, people are all “capped.” People with high IQ’s are capped higher, so we have to be a bit “phony,” or however you want to put it. If you don’t “dumb yourself down,” a bit you will seem like a “smart ass,” or however you want to put that, so you are damed if you do and danced if you don’t, that’s a “paradox,” by the way. You may have just learned something but in a group of people I’d be considered a dork, pedantic or possibly just annoying- hence the knowledge wouldn’t have been spread. With a lot of stuff this “dumbing down,” can have more detrimental effects on society as well as the person him or herself.
    When you leave the Bill curve either to the left or right things get a bit more difficult, life is set up for average intelligence, obviously it’s just math.

      You make good points. This also makes it difficult to 'govern' the citizenry. Seeing through the game should never be confused with being able to win the game because others less able will often strive for their own personal gain no matter how severely they muck everything else up in the process.

  • @Tricamo

    I like to define genius as 'someone with an uncanny clarity about something'. I am blessed to be surrounded by geniuses. Many people think geniuses are those who have great recall or can solve high end math/logic problems. There are also artistic geniuses...or musical geniuses.
    I often say..."genius has no mirror"...meaning....you cannot see it in yourself....others see it more as 'your gift compared to others'.
    Jeffery is good at putting into words what it is like. "knowing what you don't know is humbling" .."seeing the gifts in other people (plumbers and mechanics" ...."having to interact with people on their level"....."looking for a challenge to apply his purpose".....the social awkwardness of not fitting in with the 'bell curve'.
    Thanks for the share Jeffery.

      It's amazing how few people understand this and believe if they aren't a science or a math wiz that they aren't true problem solvers. Having a firm grasp of systems and the ability to manipulate it to manifest chosen and/or accurate results can be genius in ways not easily definable.

I’m in the 99.7th percentile per my IQ tests and the data returned to me from my clep test results when I clepped out of all of my 100 and 150 levels in college. I don’t always like referring to myself as a genius either, especially with the added dimension of being a woman. What I do enjoy is helping people. That really means a lot to me. You seem like a really lovely human being. You do. And I want to thank you for sharing this.

      Thank you, Dominique, I started referring to myself as a genius only after being diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in order to help people understand that people who are under the current ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) diagnosis come with a wide variety of abilities and challenges. It felt horribly awkward at first. That's one of the reasons why I've made videos on the Dunning-Kruger Effect and Impostor Syndrome. It's tough to see oneself accurately if you're highly intelligent, gifted, or lacking intelligence and lacking particular gifts (in various specific contexts.) My favorite gift is similar to yours - helping people. When I won the VedIQ Guild's 2019 Visionary of the Year award it meant so much to me because it acknowledged something more important about myself than just having high intelligence and problem solving skills. I've written about mindfulness in the Mensa World Journal and even spoke at a Yoga Teachers Training Class even though I've never really practiced the physical aspects of yoga. We are so much more than just brains and bodies. There's spirit, character, kindness, compassion, nurturing, etc.. I admire your abilities and heart. Your comment reached me tonight and I'm glad it did. Thank you!

    I've only come back for these videos recently because I actually had to get tested by a clinical psychologist and I got a solid 25 points lower than what the online tests used to me give! What a surprise!

    • @jefferyford5309
      @jefferyford5309  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The online tests are frequently way too narrow in the areas of intelligence that they test on which can provide scores that are too high or too low depending on people's strengths - not to mention the issues around arriving at a proper score. I figure the tests might be fine for entertainment but I wouldn't necessarily refer to most of them as IQ exams.

      @@jefferyford5309 Hey Jeffrey! Thanks for replying :)
      I agree. Unsurprisingly, I scored highest on the Raven's Progressive Matrices subtest. I'd attribute at least *some* of it to practising with those Mensa free IQ tests. But yeah--it's my strength and not representative of my Full-Scale IQ.
      My understanding is that Raven's progressive matrices, which most Mensa practice tests consist of, has the highest correlation with 'Full-Scale IQ' out of all the subtests. I've seen some reports that the vocabulary and information subtests are the highest, but I don't have anything conclusive. I'd love to find out more but I'm not sure where to look--do you have any recommendations?
      I'm doing a fairly new degree, a bachelor of science majoring in "psychological research", and psychometrics is my new obsession :D

    Thanks Jeffery for taking your time to share with us. What I feel I have is a different type of genius then measured by the standard tests. Recently I read an article in Psychology Today that talked about the range of genius that hasn't been measured and how the definition of "genius" is changing and expanding. My genius was creative, not that I couldn't be an analytical genius but I prefered creativity. I felt stupid taking a standard I.Q. test which leftvme feeling I wasn't very intelligent. It was a maze of puzzles that were very confusing to me. I was a straight A student until high school. My family life was messed up, my grades started dropping and with math I never got past the basics. Didn't take algebra etc. For most I.Q. tests it seems to me that math is very important, in fact I think it's most important. Considering how intimidating the I.Q. test was to me I can't say that I'm right about this it's my interpretation of it. My creativity wasn't learned it came natural and what made me a genius in that area was my mind would be going 100 miles an hour with ideas that I couldn't even keep up with and I ended up closing down because it was driving me crazy. I couldn't do 10 projects at a time and it was very hard even to concentrate on one because another one would take over before I even gotten halfway through the one I was working on. The other type of intelligence that most people aren't cognizant of is emotional intelligence which everyone's at a different level and a different age of emotional maturity and it's a type of intelligence. I would say you are at a high level of this type of intelligence too. It's the ability to see what is good and bad for yourself, to be able to analyze yourself and admit to your weaknesses and your strengths. The ability to love yourself and others. It's actually very rare and our society today to love yourself it's a very hard thing to do. If someone's gone through very traumatic experiences like child abuse xcetera usually when the extreme trauma happened is the age that person will stay emotionally if they never get any help for it. So if you were traumatized at the age of five you could stay there emotionally for the rest of your life. Anyway thank you so much for sharing with us your experiences of being a genius and I think it's awesome that you're so humble and such a loving person it's very inspiring and I wish we had more like you in the world. I'm enjoying watching your videos very much and I'm learning from you.

      Thank you, Devra! A good IQ test should test exponentially more on how well you can think and less on the math you have memorized. That's true with the verbal sections of tests as well. Creative geniuses are indeed geniuses. BTW, you can be way over Mensa level and struggle with math and science. For some it's their verbal/analytical skills that absolutely soar. I'm fortunate to be able to perform well in various ways. That ability also causes problems (like with you) in terms of the expression and dedication to one of my abilities is always at the expense of expressing another. When creative for long periods I have to become analytical and back and forth later, rinse, repeat for life! Static is boring. Dynamic is where it's at!

      Jeffery Ford I was so happy to see you replied. Let's me feel a little less alone. As far as discomfort about being a genius my favorite saying is from Socrates and I have an inkling you might be a fan of his quotes too"To know, is to know you know nothing. That is true meaning of knowledge."
      I don't know why Mr. Rogers came into my head, I'm weird I love being weird. Anyway that song came into my head about the beautiful day in the neighborhood. Wish you lived my neighborhood. It's nice of you to reply to everyone. I'm like that too. It can become a little overwhelming at times but if they took the time to write to me I feel it's so nice of them and I want to write back. ☁ 🌞☁
      P.S. I was a screenwriter which I think is kind of funny after what you said about films and I could tell you a few things about that. All films especially all the big studios have a certain timing. Every single one of them certain things have to happen within a certain period of time or at exactly this time and so they're very predestined. And there's a lot more I could write a book on the subject.

      Always happy to respond to interesting, intelligent and respectful comments. I usually don't respond to confrontational or disrespectful statements. People claim they desire freedom yet they want routine, ritual sameness - hence the need for predictable programming for so many people. Plus, the studios likely invest so much and are hesitant to deviate from a formula that's proven to work. Hope you'll continue to find meaningful outlets for your talents and intellect. All my best to you!

      IQ tests overlook pre-analytical skills and focus on upfront reasoning ability. While IQ is generally important, IQ tests are not designed to tap into certain developmental components of creativity; intuition and expertise. One day we will be able to scan a person's brain and infer individual limitations from elements of structure and reflex. For now, we shouldn't assume the person who can tell us what comes next in the set; 4, 14, 144, 4414, 41441, but rather, the person who invented the set, if not the person, who invented the objects themselves.

    Love how humble you are Jeffery, and I totally relate with the same reaction to movies people do after they're done 😂 That's so funny. I don't know about you I likeee getting deep and nitpick-y on the nuances and hidden messages of the movie, but certainly am no genius. Your story and advice has given me insights on what I can do to become a ,"genius." Taking your advice on notes, grammar, attempting to do complex thinking, and problem solving is like my goal because I feel like you can excel at anything when you have the mindset and be thankful for what you have, but also being humble about not knowing because there's so much you don't know. I do feel alone when I think of complex stuff though and usually the people I speak with are in discussion groups on the internet, but they too have so much information and input too, some times I get lost trying to figure out and comprehend all that. In normal everyday interactions with friends and family, it's not much to be learned because we just want to get done, go to sleep, listen to the same music, tv show, podcast, and eat. I'm like is there more??? Then, again, I go onto the internet and think holy crap a perspective change, but then, I'm asking, am I like blindly following someone's advice or information? So, I constant ask these questions and end up in a road block or the uncomfortable zone of "I have no clue." And when I talk about it it's like nobody understands it, so tipping the scale back to the barely above the surface conversations of small talk, bleh. Still, what I'm trying to say is that you inspired me to keep look and chasing after not only "being a genius," but more of the fact that the nuances in life are so minute that you have to hyper-aware to see it. And having that same understanding or having a person say it normally in this helps! I'm definitely going to try to increase my verbal IQ and absorb as much detail as I can! Verbal IQ has in I need a bigger vocabulary and vernacular (cool word,) to express the farthest extent of what I'm trying to say. I'm never sure if I completely expressed it all the way through. Also, you make it seem so fun to learn new things, so it's like a normal. So it gives it an all-to-good purpose to seek more knowledge! Thanks! Will be keeping your videos, advice, and all that you said in mind to connect with new stuff I'll learn!

    • @jefferyford5309
      @jefferyford5309  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent post! You stated, "I'm never sure if I completely expressed it all." That's an inherent limitation of everyday verbal communications or even advanced written communications. Brevity becomes an increasing necessity in a world filled with short attention spans and an even shorter desire by most people to fully digest information and then play with it in their mind. Enjoy your inquisitiveness and enjoy being fully alive and more aware than the masses.

    Once you actually start considering the fact that your vision is more detailed and precise than all the others, the first thing you'd do would be to start using it, to find the so-called hidden solution, to use your talent to cut edges, right? Well, I have a doubt that if you get deep into that concept, from a point and on you will stop seeing the world as is, and you will only see the problems. People ignore the fact that intelligent personalities face problems, they think that it is only about problem-solving, but for each solution you find, you get 10 more problems. Trust me on this, if you actually want the "truth" and be able to learn it all, if you are efficient enough to cover a good enough length, you will soon realize that it's not only a dead-end but you were going the wrong way from the start. So, everybody who is a tad thankful for what they have and all the peace around them (including me), should take a step back and just enjoy it while it lasts. It is my understanding and I keep on seeing it, that whenever we get something that we've been chasing, the joy fades away way faster than the amount of time it took you to achieve it. My favorite analogy here is, if you've ever cheated on an android game where the purpose is to keep you occupied, and you get to unlock everything and own the game, you will lose all your interest right away, everything shall seem meaningless. I believe and stand by this, that the same exact way life works.
    The point of this comment was to show that this and millions of others examples and situations will lead you to one and only answer, something that you couldn't expect to come back. That is, to appreciate what you have, and if you truly want more than you already do, remember to enjoy the trip because that is the only thing that matters.

      @Intuitivelogic, I cannot argue with you on that one as with your definition you covered how happiness differs between people, religions, and ethnics. Happiness indeed is a human function, much like stress, anxiety, and pain. As far as programming goes, it is a function without an argument. The argument is slowly being applied throughout a person's life, and that precisely causes them to see one thing as positive and another as not. No matter where you will be, what you will be doing, this mechanic is carved into your mind.
      Taking the following notion and giving it more thought you will quickly come to realize that nihilism is all there really is. Taking each repetitive pattern that you observe every day, you will get by analyzing it the result of.. nothingness. No matter how arrogant you want to be about it, that is really all there is. Not to mention that "meaning", "love", "freedom", "fair", "unfair" and such terminology is nothing but a creation of our subjective minds and the universe is not responsible to give us any "hope".
      Something last, throughout this message, I've been treating and referring to us, humans as some kind of a superior "living" organism. So what? There are two types of things in the world? Non-living and living? Nope, we are just as lifeless as any other rock we've seen.
      We are plainly made out of cells, (which again, cells are nothing but "self-sufficient" objects) but we, as a whole, we are indeed conscious yet cells aren't... that totally makes a lot of sense, cause why not? (I'm being sarcastic on this last sentence btw)

      @Intuitivelogic, couldn't be more true but if you start digging through the concept of society and human behaviour you will get nowhere. hi Jeffrey! glad I found your video since i was curious about high iq societies. of course, I understand that asperger's (now just called a spectrum of autism under the latest DSM) is very common in people of exceptional iq and it's just fastinating that genius and mental illness are highly correlated. as for myself, I'm the opposite of autistic and have bipolar 1 rapid cycling. but as many of those in my corner of the sandbox, tend to be more of the creative types with more highly deviant behavior than others... not to say its bad, it's just amazing on how many ways I can use a toothpick for what it wasn't intended for and understood people talking in spanish after 3 days, so boredom is inevitable unless i'm learning something. so, I can relate to what you are saying about having to bring your level of conversation down to the level of most people and I was playing with the idea of joining a high iq society since i'm really unhappy with my career which really isn't connected with my major nor what my goals are and want to interact with more like-minded people who enjoy taking on complex social and political problems. I tend to ballpark about 125-130 give or take, so... i'm kinda sitting at 4th place in the Olympics of intelligence if you will lol. but I did do some research and saw that there are still some that are open to the 95th-98th percentile that I would fall into. I was wanting to know what it is like to be in a high iq society and if it might be possible to find someone who could mentor me in philanthropy and public policy? orif you ever want to chat about the latest TED talk or how bad ass Neil degrasse Tyson is or when you want o start planning an aeroponic garden in your neighborhood, let me know! +Bipolartorecovery Thank you for your comment. What are high IQ societies like? They are all different and constantly changing as the membership and leadership changes. For me, high IQ societies are a lifeline to sanity - a place where I belong. True, I don't fit in well with a couple of the societies I belong to because never ending debates fueled more by ego than the importance of subject matter fails to interest me. I encourage you to try them out. And yes, you will probably be able to find mentors for nearly anything in many high IQ societies. That is especially true with the older members who desire the stimulation of helping others and have the time to do so. If one society isn't a good fit for you, keep on trying. You're likely to find a good fit sooner than later.

    I didn't think it would be a secret but I find I constantly have to tell people that one's level of intelligence is not something to be ashamed of or boastful of. It is not something you earn. When I speak, it is matter of factly. I don't mean to insult anyone during a discussion, and even when I engage in slinging insults back and forth, my intent isn't to make a person feel bad, it is to formulate the best insult. I would rather it didn't hurt anyone's feelings. I just can't seem to avoid the challenge.... weird I know.

    Dear Jeffery Alan Ford,
    how come so many geniuses seem not to get this major point in life: "Love thy neighbour"?
    It is key for a joyful life. You obiously understand it, so many other intelligent people don't.

    • @jefferyford5309
      @jefferyford5309  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You're right. I would think it would be more obvious to many folks. Some of it might have to do with being bullied so much as children for being different and people trying to make you ashamed of your intellectual strengths. Some of it might have to do with learning enough history to know just how wicked people have been throughout time. Also, if you have the capacity to intellectually entertain yourself in your own mind you don't need the constant distraction of other people in your life like so many other people do. Too many possible reasons for both loving and not so much loving your neighbor to list.

      @@jefferyford5309
      "Too many possible reasons for both loving and not so much loving your neighbor to list."
      That's right for the early years, but not so much for the grown genius with life experience.
      It is very easy to observe that deeply joyful people are those who are loved and - even more important - love.
      Being a hermit can be a great relief for extremely intelligent people, I fully understand that. But after a few years you really get how important other people are (at least that was my experience).
      The only true argument is the ominpresent wickedness of people. There is no objective reason to trust anybody. Humans can be as deceptive as their intelligence and discipline allow, and both those qualities can be camouflaged very easily. Also you never know what wicked motive anyone could really have.
      Any trust requires a leap of faith. And any leap of faith can be fatal.
      But then: The quality of the life you try to conserve by not leaping can only be miserable. That reminds me of the bible: "Those who love their life will lose it".
      Thank you!

      @@jefferyford5309 I think sometimes people misinterpret my ability to entertain myself without other people as coldness, or at least aloofness. I don't think I'm a genius, but have always scored high on those kinds of things. I have always been able to entertain myself, and create enough wonder and curiosity about things that others disregard. That trait always seemed like an obstacle to me in keeping social connections in a normal way. Only my mom praised me for it, not being as demanding because I amused myself well. Mostly though, it has been a source of shame. I need other people. I love them. My friends and family are my heart. But damn! Nobody really seems to understand that I also need my own time alone to think on things and figure out the Big Picture dynamics going on. I feel better now, knowing that someone so brilliant shares that same trait. I've also tested on the spectrum, so maybe it's that.

Then at the end they are finally back at home just as before the revolution, the woman is making food, the man is working on something, and the credits start rolling.
    I cried so much, because that is the perfect example of a drama. These people went through all these ordeals and in the end life goes on, rice must still be cooked and work must still be done.
    Americans don't know how to make subtle movies, its why their drama is too over the top, its not realistic.

      There's a Buddhist saying, "Before enlightenment - chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment - chop wood, carry water." The best dramas and horror movies are psychological in nature and build over time. Subtleties and nuances edge us toward the front of our seat. These "over the top" movies you speak of are more like farces made for children.

I just answer the specific questions asked because words have specific meanings. That's great for IQ tests but when you're this literal it makes socializing tough sometimes.

    I have a quick question sir: What is your honest opinion on the school system? In my view the way society has decided to put extreme emphasis on memory instead of understanding is truly disturbing, it’s like they want us to become machines. Why can’t they teach us to truly grasp and be able to enjoy the material we deal with in school. I bet most students don’t even understand most of the things they learn but as long as they remember the formula or the equation they will receive a good grade. I really don’t understand the logic behind this type of learning, the only possible reason I see is the efficiency this system has, you give students the steps to solve something and move on to the next topic. It would have been better if schools would have allowed students to delve into the topics independently and try to figure things out, once everybody has reached their max understanding you begin to teach them the main ideas and assist them in the learning process. Obviously this would be much more time costly and most teachers would actually have to do something instead of printing worksheets and handing them down. That is just my opinion, I would like to know yours ?

    • @jefferyford5309

      I believe you are referring to our needing to adjust our levels of expressed intelligence when conversing with others. We need to accept people where they are at the moment. Think of Aristotle's Law of Identity (a thing is itself.) Some people lack the reasoning and processing ability to grasp certain subjects and conclusions no matter how much you try to assist them. That could be due to general intelligence, limited knowledge base in the subject at hand, or far too often cognitive dissonance as well. Hope that helps and I wish you the very best in life!

      I understand what you're saying and respect what you're saying. I also enjoy listening to smart people. Truthfully, I avoid many words so it can be inclusive and beneficial for all without talking down to anybody. Many (but certainly not all) apparently complex topics can be understood by most people if it is just presented directly and succinctly enough so that it is plain and interesting. I speak more to communicate than to impress. I will however at times have to use more complex terminology and then I define the word right after I speak it so everyone can benefit. It took me years to develop this speaking pattern and methodology. I warn others though not to necessarily follow my lead on this because over time I think it does the speaker harm. We need to keep ourselves sharp. That's also one of the reasons I'm so insular because then I am keeping my own company and can think (and speak in my head) as quickly and elaborately as I so choose. Thank you for your comment because I totally agree with your sentiment and it gave me an opportunity to share the benefits and pitfalls of my approach to speaking.

    Hi Jeffery! I would like to ask you a question I had about IQ, more specifically IQ tests. Last year my school noticed a lack of interest from me in academics. My school didn't know exactly why I had low interest so without much thought they came to the conclusion that I might have mental difficulties that prevented me to learn like any other normal person. Long story short they took an IQ test on me, few weeks later my results came. I expected to be given a number but to my surprise the school counselor explained to me that she wasn't allowed to give me an exact number. Then she told me something that I found very odd, she said me that I had scored a below average iq in the test, but that the test also determined that I had a high iq "capacity". In my opinion she was definitely lying. Either I had a low iq and she simply didn't want to make me feel bad, or I actually had a high iq and she didn't want to tell me because then I would get even more arrogant. Since you seem to be knowledgeable about iq tests, what do you think is most likely what actually happened? I can tell you are a humble guy but please give me a 100% honest answer. I just want your genuine opinion on this.

I really can't comment on your conversation with her because I don't know enough of the backstory behind it and it's likely neither of us ever will. Get the best education and skills training you can receive there and remember what Frank Sinatra said, "The best revenge in life is massive success." Make something of yourself and realize school doesn't last forever ... and YOU, not an IQ test, defines who you are. I hope you'll go on to make a positive difference in this world.

      There is no "IQ potential", you either have a high IQ or you don't. You're definitely not stupid if that's what's worrying you.
      I'd bet she's lying to try and make you work harder instead of just being honest because she's a woman, and they're naturally manipulative. Then you throw in a sense of entitlement from getting a job immediately after college because well, affirmative action, and really women are more emotionally intelligent anyway, following the completion of a degree program she only got accepted into on some bs affirmative action policy again along with the fact she's most likely been neglecting her motherly instincts in the pursuit of her shite career fixing other people's problems because it makes her own seem less significant and helps stem the depression from never having children and realizing she's going to die alone so she justifies lying to you because you're just like a son to her, and you need some tough love, it'll "help" you in the short run and she can give you a pity party which satisfies her own neuroses without any consideration to the fact she's setting you up for an anxiety disorder and possibly even a personality disorder as the little thought that "maybe I'm not good enough" seeps into your subconscious and slowly consumes your entire life, like an anorexic thinking they're obese, a genius thinking he's retarded.
      You're not stupid. A counselor wouldn't say "high IQ potential" if you had a substandard IQ, it'd be condescendin. You'd get the "It's going to be really hard, but you don't need to have a high IQ to be successful" speech. The other way around? Why it'll be harmless! It'll be beneficial because a real genius who works really hard? They're unstoppable!
      And then you spend the rest of your life a miserable overachiever, dying of stress related disease. So, you have a choice now. You can ride on your IQ through highschool like I did, skip homework, ace the tests, and live a mediocre life or you can work hard, strive to achieve, and do it for the right reasons, be able to enjoy life, etc.
      Good luck, kid. Don't waste too much time trying to get laid, you can lose years chasing that crap.
