My grandfather is 99 years old . From last 1 year he only eat a very little, but he was able walk and talk properly. He fully stopped eating a week ago,he says he doesn't want to eat anything and now he only sometimes drink water , i just want to know how long is the process of passing, because i know it's the end and i see him getting weak and weak everyday , now his voice is also going away and I don't want him to suffer and should we try to artificially feed him or just let him be. Please answer. It will help alot.🙏

I have a pt that choked on a piece of sausage. She is going downhill. I am a home health nurse and am trying to make it as easy on her as possible. Today was the first day she choked on it and I got there right after the husband was feeding her. It really scared him and you could tell it really frightened her too. I said we are probably going to have to go to pureed food and drinks. I went ahead and fed her yogurt. The husband was quite distressed. Any other suggestions? I had a lewy body dementia patient and she ate really well up until about 4 days before she passed. I know everyone is different but is there something I should be watching for closely? Any other food suggestions? Thank you. It's been a little while since I've had an Alzheimer's patient and I've never had one that started having swallowing issues. Thank you!

Mum is end of life dementia, she is fed via a syringe, it’s become obvious to me that she no longer wants the food , she shows this either by turning her head of closing lips tightly. She coughs on every mouthful, she is non verbal . She’s been asssesed by speech and language , however doctor and staff at nursing home are not on board with the therapist or myself and are continuing to force feed . I don’t know what more I can do .

Very informative video. My mother’s hospice nurse pretty much told me all of this. My mother has started to decline but she says she is hungry all the time but she has a very hard time swallowing much of anything. She has lost so much weight and it’s so hard to see her like this. The nurse just keeps telling me it’s normal and to not try to make her eat when she is struggling but she asks for it so.... ugh....

My daughter is 7 years and 8 months old. She is with cerebral palsy. She had no problem in eating or drinking until she got fits in november. After that she got too much of medication which has made her weak. When i consulted different doctors they told me most of the medicines were not needed. Now she is on tube feeding. I see her improving though she has slight cough while i feed her orally. Can you help me to improve my daughter's health

Maybe try tube feeding until she regains the muscles to swallow.

Go raibh maith agat as an bhfíseán seo. Thanks for this video. Tá m'athair cúig bliana is nócha d'aois. My father is 95 years old. Tá na fadhbanna seo againn gach lá sa teach altranais. We have these problems everyday in the nursing home.
