I’ve worked on commercial doors 16 yrs . I like it when the ticket says roller out and you show up it’s inside out and upside down… fun days Looks like your helping people out so that’s good fair pricing our locals are all over the place on prices .. I’m fair when I service doors
Miss your videos. My neighbor lady across the street asked {can you look at my garage door?} Her sister had backed into the door and bent a couple of panels. The service tech showed up and insisted she replace the opener and rollers. After this was done {$2000.00} they then told her she needed a new door for {$4000.00 more}. I looked at the rollers, Teflon, okay. They did not adjust the new opener correctly as for travel and down and open force. When all the way up the J hook was hitting the door. I told her that the cosmetic damage was bad, but that did not stop them from adjusting the new belt drive opener correctly. Of course the opener was already replaced alone with rollers, I do not know if they were actually needed. When they showed up with the new door she cratered and said do it all. {$6000.00} As sloppy as the work they had already done, I would have said NO! I was not going to volunteer to fix her door. I understand these service tech's have to make a living, but this was way over the top. Watching you videos has made me realize how much people get taken advantage of. I am a retired GM Dealership tech, yes it is the same. Many mechanics want to "hit the home run" on every job. It is not right, but it is done. More people need to watch you video's. Thanks Don R

Got to love people who try to do thing they have no idea on how it works and how dangerous it is. looks like he was trying to change the bottom seal. And love the lady haggling the price is driving a Mercedes.
Great video. Could you post a video in the future of what you carry in your tool bag and pocket pouch? That would be very helpful.
There should be a video on my channel where I go over what tools to have in ur bag and I kind of show whats in my pouch but I guess I could do one more detailed about whats exactly in the pouch etc.

they should have put 2 springs. putting one bigger spring would just put more stress on the end bearings.
I agree. I did offer the lady a good deal on new springs and the proper size with a discounted price and heavy warranty but she declined since its all literally new. But she said when its time she will call me for sure. I could have pressed a little harder to get her into new parts but everything truly looked good outside of the weak spring. Once I tightened it though the door balanced pretty decent believe it or not at the top and bottom. So just left this one alone and kept the good repoir with her going so she will call me in the future

What kind of belt is that you are wearing? I need something simple like that to carry my basic tools while working
its just a tool pouch that is made to loop over your pants belt. i believe the brand is husky. Its so perfect. I literally love how it’s slotted with several slots to keep the exact tools i use. Got it at home depot
Why did this happen to begin with? Where you able to tell why? Or ask why
yes sir. The homeowner was trying to put on bottom seal and for some reason tried to take out a roller on the bottom panel thinking it would help clear way to slide the bottom seal in the track. At some point he got the door jammed in the tracks and tried pushing it up and a cable came off. Then it just got worse from there
What size spring do you recommend be on there?
I would probably put on a 225 red and a 225 black.

But something a little more in depth, just starting out on the business and have gone to a few training classes but this is something that is not really touched on

Yeah, go a little more in detail on how to secure the door so it is not a hazard for you technician and also a bit more detail on how the whole operation works, from securing the door to the actual steps to re-mounting it on the tracks
I think in this video you even did a bit of rework on one of the panels that you said was bent, it would have been nice to see that part of the process also.

your pricing is very cheap
Yea, I have travelled all over the country and seen many different pricing ranges. Pricing is WAY different say here compared to California or even Denver, Colorado. My pricing is good for me here. I will likely increase in time as we become more industry established but right now the focus is building my brand and establishing customers! So, gotta give e something juicy to draw em in!
